Ok, I got word back from my MSI rep. Apparently, it's a limitation on the RAM that is used for the video card. Other laptops that use the HD8970M or R9 M290X that are not MSI suffer from this as well. This is an AMD goof-up, not MSI's, so don't get mad at MSI. The rep said that they tried to overclock to 1200MHz, but got BSOD's all the time. The rep assures me that the gaming experience is minimally affected (so nothing you'd notice, like 1-2 FPS difference)

  • [Solved] Network problems with MSI GX60 Destroyer, killer newtork LAN and wireless

Hi, I bought a MSI GX60 Destroyer 2 weeks ago, and I realized that my internet was a little slow, you don't realize in the web but when downloading it doesn't perform how it should, I tested the speed now with wireless and I got 5 mb/s, and I have 20 mb/s in my house (I also tested with cellphones and other pc's), with LAN the speed was normal, so I saw some forums about the Killer network, I tried to change the drivers but nothing, the wireless is limited to 5 mb/s and now my LAN too.... please help, my phone has 4x better internet than my GAMING Laptop.
Also the Atheros drivers are a pain in the ass it's really hard to remove them.
I'm now with the drivers without the Management app.

    Hi Tzin,
Which graphics driver are you using?
The quick stream is installed on the notebook with the generic graphics driver from the AMD website.
If you install the AMD's generic graphics driver, you'll find the quick stream program in your Uninstall programs window.(Control Panel> Uninstall a program)
Hi hch , i only can find the "amd cystal manager " under the unintall a program , so when i click into in then only saw the device but dont see the quick stream .

  • Blue screen of death help needed for MSI PM8PM-V motherboard

I am having sudden pc hang up (BSOD) and have failed to troubleshoot by myself after searching through internet resources on this topic. Will greatly appreciate any help with this.
The recent changes to my PC are:
    -changed the PSU
    -flashed my BIOS
    -updated my drivers.
That is when the BSOD problem started. I tried drivers from MSI and VIA but both gave BSOD problems.
    My PC specs are:
-Windows XP Pro Ver 2002 (SP3)
    -PM8PM-V motherboard
-Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80 GHz
    -960 MB RAM
    -CoolerMaster 460W PSU
    -Pheonix AwardBIOS v6.00PG
    -153.38 GB IDE HardDisk
    -BenQ DVD-RW
    -Buffalo wireless LAN
    -Onboard graphics and sound
    Drivers (in chronological order):
    -Installed from MSI
    --P4M800_V30003
    --VIA4in1_MB
    --Realtek_AC97_MB
    --Realtek_Gigabit_LAN_MB
    --VIA8237_LAN_Driver_MB
    -Installed from VIA
    --VIA_HyperionPro_V524A
    --VIA_FalconIDE_V280C

I removed unused drivers from my hardware profile after this.

    Closing open log file c:\debuglog3.txt

I've done the 20x Memtest. No errors...
Meanwhile, my pc gave the BSOD again when I pressed the shutdown button.
Btw, is the minidump text of any use? I read elsewhere that this can pinpoint to the problem, but I don't know how to read it.
Anyway, here's the latest minidump text, if this is of use.
    Thanks!

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high.  This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 000000b2, memory referenced
    Arg2: 0000001c, IRQL
    Arg3: 00000000, bitfield :
       bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: 804fa276, address which referenced memory
    Debugging Details:
    ADDITIONAL_DEBUG_TEXT:
Use '!findthebuild' command to search for the target build information.
If the build information is available, run '!findthebuild -s ; .reload' to set symbol path and load symbols.

  • MSI GX60 Destroyer Start up and Sound Issues

Once again I have encountered an error where after receiving a new update for Windows 8.1, I now have the issue where start up programs will no longer start up for over an hour or longer from when the system starts, as well as I can no longer turn on my sound as I constantly receive the error message "The Audio Service is not running" and anything I try will not restart it whatsoever.
I have had this issue before and due to extra issues, I have had to completely send off the system for repairs at the repair center. However, I feel that this is more being caused by the update itself, also seeming as this will be the third time within around 2-3 months I have had to send this system off, if I cannot solve it without sending the system off I will likely be seeking a refund instead due to the negative experience with this system.

Those links don't help as I already tried some of those solutions, the issue isn't that I have a slight delay, its that the programs don't load for around an hour or more at the moment. Also I still have the audio issue with the system as well and now I recently found I can no longer go into the control panel either.
Then your issue isn't related to the system not working at all. It really sounds to me that you have a virus of some kind. Do you use a virus scanner?
Do you install questionable material? (aka pirated games/software?)
The more and more that you actually go into detail about the 'problems', the more it seems to me that you've got a virus.
Lastly, you really need to do a much better job explaining what the problems are. Giving people trying to help you half the story (oh, yeah, also audio doesn't work and I can't go into control panel....) only leads to us not being able to help you. You might want to look into this to get a better idea of what information will get you a better response much quicker:

  • GX60 Destroyer - installing two SSDs in a RAID array.

I am sorry if this is repeated in another thread, but I am struggling to find any information that could help with me installing Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on two SSDs in a RAID array in my MSI GX60 Destroyer. Windows keeps asking for drivers and cannot detect the SSDs during windows installation.
Has anyone done this before and if so, how did you do it?
    Many thanks for reading!
    Regards,
    Iain

You would need RAID driver from AMD which MSI does not offer it for download.

  • MSI GX60 RAID

    Hi guys!
I'm looking to change the storage configuration on my MSI GX60 Destroyer notebook. I have seen in the BIOS that there is an option for RAID instead of AHCI for storage; does anyone have any more information on this? I was thinking of the following combo
SSD 1 and SSD 2 in RAID 0 and the 1TB drive replacing the DVD drive.
Is it possible on this notebook?

RAID drivers is included in intel chipset package it does not come seperated.
To confirm that you can do RAID, then does it have 2x msata slots? if so then RAID will work on GX60 other wise it wont.

  • Help . help ( CMOS battery in MSI GX60 )

I've been manipulating BIOS settings and turn off the laptop and after coming up just a black screen and the power light blinks. I opened the cover of the laptop, but I did not find coms battery. Please get help. Got stuck badly. How do I reset the BIOS up!!!

Looks like it could be same as on the GX70 and if so it's on the keyboard side of the MB so you would need to disassemble nearly the whole thing to get to it. I don't find a guide for the GX60 but the one for GX70 looks about to be the same.

  • GX60 Destroyer Graphics Driver Help

I hope someone can help me soon. I bought the GX60 Destroyer and I love it, but I have one small problem. I can't update the graphics drivers. For games that can use the Mantle renderer, I need Catalyst version 14.2 or later, now when I install a new version of Catalyst, the R9 M290X card, is renamed as 8970M. I thought its not a problem, coz they very similar cards, but when I try to run games with the Mantle renderer, they crash with an error message saying something about the GPU not being available. I've looked everywhere and nobody seems to have this problem. I did flash my VBIOS and everything, and it didn't fix it. Please help.

Thanks, I kinda thought it would still be early for that kinda thing, seeing as there are only about 11 games that actually support Mantle right now. I'll just wait till a newer driver for my device is released. I'll be using the newer catalyst drivers because I find that even though they change the name of the card in the device manager, I get better compatibility with my games and the switchable graphics.

the problem is we dont have msi file for 10.6.*.* and hence I am not able to create package for it
I don't understand; two days ago you wrote that you have it, now you don't...?
If you don't have it, then why not deploy the current version 12.1.3.153 - I don't see the point of installing an old, unsecure software version.
