Helpviewer displays empty window for some applications

I just went to check Help in Mail for something and got a blank window. I've seen this before so i walked through the X-Labs excellent "Troubleshooting HelpViewer" article, which has helped me in the past. But the basic dumping of cache files and mail related plist files did not help.
As suggested in the X-Labs article I enabled tracing for HelpViewer, lots of data information when invoking Helpviewer works, but not much when it doesn't, the following is typical:

Finder (mac help), Terminal, Calculator, Backup, Console, HelpViewer
* Helpviewer displays a blank windows for some applications:
Mail, Safari, iCal, TextEdit, AddressBook, iTunes, Preview, iPhoto, QuickTime
* Mail, and other apps are otherwise working correctly
* Mail Version 2.0.5 (746/746.2)
* Tiger Version 10.4.4
* I don't know when this problem may have arisen - first noticed today.
Any Suggestions? Only major recent change was the 10.4.4 upgrade a few days ago, but i don't know if this problem existed prior to that.

Search Macupdate.com or Apple main page for Onyx, and in the "Automation" section there is a option to reset Mac OS X help.
The system optimization and cache cleaning should be done about once a month to optimize the system a little bit.

Password Problem for some applications:

Password Problem for some applications: I'm unable to download Adobe Reader, Microsoft updates. I have no password set to start the computer, applications such as Pages, Numbers, Keynote require no password for updates.
When I try to update Microsoft or Adobe Reader, first I try with no password, I get a hint and I know exactly what it means, but still unable to download. I don't know enough about passwords as to why some I can download and others I can't. So I don't know what I should read. I'm the only user of this computer and prefer not to have to deal with passwords. I'm using a MacBook Pro, Mac OS 10.9.3

Oh what a tangled web we weave. I read up on keychain and I don't understand what I'm reading. Right now I cannot download my email on my computer, I can access it through the cloud. I'm sure it will be the same for the other iCloud feathers. When I go to preferences and select iCloud when ever I try to sign in I get some dialog box it shows up "A keychain cannot be found to store 1076701306. It doesn't matter whether I reset it or cancel it out iCloud preferences remains grayed out.
In keychain access on the left side under keychains and Read's local item, systems, and systems roots.
When I select local items nothing shows up to the right under the name column even when down under all items is selected nothing shows up. And nothing shows up to the right when under categories I selected the other options password etc. On the other hand when I select under keychains systems, systems roots I do get items to show up on the right side under names under all items, passwords, etc. Where do I start?

What is the fix for some applications repeatedly asking permission to accept incoming connections?
On every restart, AutoPairs and Epson Event Manager asks me to reject or agree to allow incoming connections. It is very aggravating and time-wasting. I know other Mac users who have the identical problem with other applications on their Macs.
Isn't there some way to make my Mac understand that "Yes" means "Yes" once and for all?
I am presently running Yosemite, but this was a problem with prior OS X versions too.

This is a comment on why you might, or might not, want to use the built-in Application Firewall.
The firewall blocks incoming network traffic, regardless of origin, on a per-application basis. By default it's off, and when turned on, it allows applications digitally signed by Apple, and only those applications, to listen on the network. It does not block outgoing traffic, nor can it distinguish between different sources of incoming traffic, nor does it filter traffic by content.
No matter how it's configured, the firewall is not, as some imagine, a malware filter. If that's what you expect it to do, forget it. All it will do is bombard you with pointless alerts.
Consider some scenarios in which you may expect the firewall to be useful.
1. You enable file sharing, and you allow guest access to certain folders. That means you want people on your local network, but not outsiders, to be able to access those shared folders without having to enter a password. In the default configuration, the firewall will allow that to happen. The router prevents outsiders from accessing the shares, whether the application firewall is on or off. But if your computer is portable and you connect it to an untrusted network such as a public hotspot, the firewall will still allow access to anyone, which is not what you want. It does not protect you in this scenario.
2. You unknowingly install a trojan that steals your data and uploads it to a remote server. The firewall, no matter how it's configured, will not block that outgoing traffic. It does nothing to protect you from that threat.
3. A more likely scenario: The web browser or the router is compromised by an attacker. The attack redirects all web traffic to a bogus server. The firewall does not protect you from this threat.
4. You're running a public web server. Your router forwards TCP connection requests on port 80 to your Mac, and the connections are accepted by the built-in web server, which is codesigned by Apple. The application firewall, still configured as above, allows this to happen. An attacker hacks into the system and tries to hijack port 80 and replace the built-in web server with one that he controls. The good news here is that the firewall does protect you; it blocks incoming connections to the malicious server and alerts you. But the bad news is that you've been rooted. The attacker who can do all this can just as easily turn off the firewall, in which case it doesn't protect you after all.
5. You're running a Minecraft server on the local network. It listens on a high-numbered port. You, as administrator, have reconfigured the firewall to pass this traffic. An attacker is able to log in to a standard account on the server. He figures out how to crash Minecraft, or he just waits for you to quit it, and then he binds his own, malicious, Minecraft server to the same port. The firewall blocks his server, and because he's not an administrator, he can't do anything about it. In this scenario, the security is genuine.
6. Here is a more realistic scenario in which you might have reason to enable the firewall. Your MacBook has sharing services enabled. You want those services to be available to others on a home or office network. When you're on those networks, the firewall should be off. When you move to an untrusted network, you can either turn off all the services, or enable the firewall with a non-default configuration to block them. Blocking is easier: one click instead of several.

Further to what dominic said, in PSE 11 and 12, you get to Reset Tool by clicking the four-lined square on the upper right of the Tool Options area. In older versions, click the tiny triangle or tool icon at the far left of the Options Bar.

There's a support file in the System/Library/QuickTime folder that you can move elsewhere temporarily: QuickTimeUSBVDCDigitizer.component. Don't delete it, just move it. Any apps you open from that point will not have access to the camera. Move the file back to re-activate it (you may need to reboot).
There is also an AppleScript to do the same thing, but I can't guarantee it works for 10.8.

(SOLVED) No system sounds, and no sound for some applications

For some reason, system sounds stopped working (like when one takes a screenshot). aplay plays sounds (I mean, no errors whatsoever), but I can hear nothing. Listening from mplayer or vlc still works as normal.
When I 'aplay sound.wav', I see the leds going up and down on pavucontrol, but I hear nothing.
I run openbox and I don't start gnome-settings-daemon with it. It is "pure" openbox.
I checked pavucontrol settings, and also alsamixer but couldn't find anything that could solve the problem. I use pulse-audio, and have pulseaudio-alsa and alsa-utils installed.

Yeah, I can guarantee that I didn't touch alsamixer myself. I didn't even know the F6 option (although, today I realized it is there very well visible). Anyway, I guess an update might have changed something... I saw other people with similar problems in #archlinux this morning.

I've created a "Help" link. clicking on it displays a popup Help_Window. I want to display paragraph of Text in this Help_Window.
Is there any element available where i can enter a paragraph of text ?
( my goal is to create documentation for the application. just like we do documentation for se38 programs )

Solution :
1. Create MIME to import the help.PDF file which contains documentation to your application
2. In Help_View i have included the element INTERACTIVE_FORM.
3. In method WDDOINIT of HELP_VIEW i have included the following code to call the help.pdf file

Xfce4 fonts are too big for some applications

Hi there,
overall, my fonts are just fine. However, in some applications (panel and thunar from what I've noticed so far), the fonts are about twice as big. I assume those are applications which are started quite early.
I'm on a 4k monitor, xfce4 desktop environment, dpi set to 96 in the xorg conf.
Any ideas are appreciated

I just tried AGAIN and it worked... Dont understand why but its fine now. For everyone wondering:
- disable custom dpi
- close appearance
- enable again
- restart

For some applications I need Adobe Flashplayer. It seems that iPad does not support it. What to do?

I need Adobe Flash player for some apps but iPad does not support it. What could I possibly do?

Flash isn't supported on the iPad, and probably never will be.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites have their own apps in the App Store.

Please Help. For some reason, I have numerous, numerous problems.

For starters, my macbook is roughly a year old.
For the past, 2-3 months, I've been having some problems.
1. Itunes. Oh, where to start with Itunes? One day I try to open up my Itunes to listen to some music, and I get a message, it says exactly this: "The file 'Itunes Library' does not appear to be a valid Itunes library file. iTunes has attempted recover your iTunes library and renamed this file to "iTunes Library (Damaged) 2". And I discover that all my music has been deleted from iTunes expect for about 10 songs, and neither of them work correctly. So I patiently fixed it (properly or improperly, i have no idea) and it worked, for about 2 weeks. Then I try to open my itunes again, and I get the same message. Today it happened again, for the 5th time. Does anyone know a permanent solution to this problem? This has never happened to me before, except for the last 2 months or so.
2. iPhoto. I had some of photos in there. I try to open it one day and it gives me a welcome sign, as if I just got iPhoto and was using it for the first time ever. Then it says "loading photos". However, I doubt it was actually loading photos, because it shouldn't take 5 hours. I tried the advice that the apple website gave me on this one, (it was something like, hold two keys, a box will come up, press blahblah) but it didn't work.
3. Safari. Everything seems to be working correctly, except for everytime I open Safari, it makes me type in my user password for something called a "keychain login". It has never done this before. It's getting really annoying, everytime I open a webpage, it comes up. When I type in my login and "reset" my keychains, it does the exact same thing as when I click cancel. I honestly have no idea what it means, but it does the same thing for the IM service that I use.
4. TextEdit. I try to open a (quite important) file and it says "File (file name) could not be opened" I have no idea why, and this is the only file that it has done this for.
I believe that to be about it. If anyone has anything that would help, that would be fantastic.
However, please try to be as simple as possible when explaining things? I'm not dumb, I just want to make sure it gets fixed correctly, without screwing it up more.

It's interesting that only Mac application software is involved. I presume you've done a permissions run on Applications/Utilities/Desk Utility.
Back up your data files. Now, if you have your install disks, you can safely perform an Archive and Install, but preserve current users and settings. You'll end up with a fresh system, though you'll probably have to reinstall some third-party software to make it work well. Of course, you'll also have to update the system. This method comes closest to restoring functionality to all the applications you mention.

CS6 installation failure for some applications

Windows 7.
After the installation process was complete I was notified that some of the applications failed to install:
Ps; Ai; Fl; Id.
An error list was provided with many cryptic reasons for failure, such as:
ERROR: DF037: Unable to delete directory "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw". Error 145 The directory is not empty.(Seq 956)
These are interesting, no doubt, but useless for helping me to solve the problems.
My question is: how can I get Adobe to help me with what seems to be an inadequate installation process?

How to implement the documentation help function for webdynpro application

We have implemented SAP Travelmanagement ESS services which uses ABAP Webdynpro. In each of the screen there is a "help" link on the top right corner. I would like to know how to use this function to link a help file that explains what needs to be done on each screen.
My requirement is to provide screen specific help information as a document for each of the screen in my webdynpro application.
Any suggestions, options, samples from the experts would be most appreciated.

Hi Vivek,
seems to be your WDA are built by FPM, thats how by default you will be getting help link in top corner.
when you click on help link it has to display the help related data.
for this sap calls the standard wdc: WDHC_COMPONENT and the view:WDHC_APPL_HELP in this view you will see the element as: TEXT to fill some text which is your help data.
there might be some way to fill this TEXT (text view) try this.
or else i will check and upate you soon.

How do I make a global helper servlet for all applications?

I am running about five different web applications in tomcat 5.0.24. They all need to do some spelling correction from time to time. I have a spelling correction API and a bunch of dictionaries, etc. so I can do it just fine. The problem is, I don't want each application to create all the dictionaries because then I end up with five spell checking programs and five dictionaries being accessed (basically I am exactly repeating myself five times and I start running out of memory). I would like to have a servlet that just sits waiting all the time and which any other servlet or JSP in any of my web applications can quickly dash of a spell check request to at any time.
How do I do this?
I think I need to write a servlet since I want to run it in tomcat and access it from my webapps, but it might not need to be a servlet since it is never actually contacted from a browser and will not ever write anything back to the client. I just need my other servlets and JSPs to access the spell checking functionality from time to time.

I'd say tomcat/common/lib is a good guess for where you'd put the class's jar file, but I don't use Tomcat so I can't say for sure. As for how to only have one dictionary, you need a singleton class, i.e. one that only permits one instance of the class to be created. Iphone sound suddenly stops for some applications

My I phone sound not working for games and some appliations also key pad sound is not workin? rest for songs and calling its fine how can i fix this? i have tried reset but its not fixed.

' Same here, 2.8.003, SB0467. I'm running a 5. analog setup and several times since I installed the card last week, the sound would stop coming out of the 3 front speakers, and only come out of the rear until I either restarted the PC or switch the modes.
I dual boot windows 7 RTM x64 and Vista x64 and it has happened on both of them.
