The music sync is a one way sync for this very reason, so you don't take other peoples music that you didn't pay for.
In short, the iphone does not have this function.

hello my name is Brandon, my hard drive on my laptop fried out and i am currently stting up my itunes on a different laptop. I want to be able to keep all of my music but everytime i connect my iphone to my laptop it says that all music will be lost and only the music that is on the laptop now will be imported to my phone. my music is my life and i love the playlist i have now but there are songs that i have on this laptop that i really want on my phone for when i workout. Can someone please tell me how i can save my music.

It depends on eaxactly what is wrong with the old laptop. If you're lucky the drive can be extracted and connected to a new computer to extract the data. Otherwise see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

The old computer I had iTunes on crashed, and I can't use it anymore. I have purchased a new laptop, and I would like all of my music back. How can I transfer my iTunes music library to my new laptop? I tried to sync my iPhone to my new laptop, but it says that it would have to erase and sync, because it can only be synced with one iTunes library at one time. Have I just lost all the music I had?

iTunes purchases can be redownloaded.
Computer: Open iTunes Store and click on Purchased in the Quick Links section on the right.
iOS: Open the iTunes Store app > More > Purchased
Non-iTunes purchases will be lost.
If you didn't have your music backed up then you would need third party software such as TouchCopy to transfer your music back to your computer so you can add it to iTunes and sync.

If, as you say, you have backed up your purchased music, then you do not need to get it from the phone. Just get it out of the backup, or from your old computer, and copy it to the new computer.
OTOH, if the only copy of the music is on your phone, then you may be out of luck. It depends on how badly damaged it is. If you can still get it to connect to the computer, you could use [Senuti|http://www.fadingred.com/senuti> to download the music from your phone to the computer. If you can't get it to connect, though, and you don't actually have a backup copy anywhere else, your music is gone.

Buy the songs that your friend put on the iPod that you liked. They had no right to give you the copyrighted music when they sold you the device.

When you sync an IP with iTunes AND you have some purchased music that was downloaded directly to your IP, a box pops up asking if you want to transfer that data to your computer. The box clearly says if you don't, the music will be erased from your IP. As the previous poster states, I believe you can download the music again at no additional charge.
