HELP! I'm new at this and need some help getting started

I am currently working on our website and was wondering how do I make a new page?
for example.
I want people to click on a link on the homepage to say a stockist list and see another page open with that information on.
Also I need to know how to make the homepage have white strips on the left and right (for an example of what I mean please visit www.internationalrobes.com)

Well, these are more web design related questions, but I will help as much as I can in the context.
Going about adding a page:
1) Navigate to Admin > Layout > Static pages
2) Add a new static page here and enter your content
3) Once it is saved, you should see an eyeglasses icon next to the page and you can copy that url and use it in a link.
4) For example

As far as the white stripes, I think you mean centering a page?
1) Edit the main master page under your theme

I cannot remember my restriction pass code, and I don't know how to retrieve it. Can someone help me, I'm new to this stuff!!

I set a restriction pass code, and when I tried to use it, it says it's wrong. But I had to put it in 2x so it can't be wrong. And I just set it this morning, so I didn't forget. It just won't let me in.

The iPhone 3G is obsolete. It can not run anything higher than iOS 4.2.1. There are some old apps in the app store that will still run on it, but most newer apps will not.

I just started in a Java class and installed jdk1.2.1 from a disc in the textbook. My problem is that when I tried to run the following application:

I tried a sample application that was included on the disc and got the same message. When I ran a similar program that was as an applet it worked fine.

Well, THERE'S the problem! A trip to Verizon today revealed, that what we were told in 2009(!), and since, notwithstanding, they still consider us ALTEL! Now, we have HAD this discussion, have asked SPECIFICALLY to be certain we were transferred to Verizon, have had them check, been assured, etc. etc.., ad nauseum. Evidently this occurs because, "some people are incredibly stubborn and just want to remain . . ." As we told them, "we are not those people!" Interestingly, if want the change to be made, it will just mean a teeny little matter of losing our unlimited data and raising our bill.
They can, to be quite plain about it, go to H***. I'd be plainer, but I'd rather "bleep" myself and have you get my meaning.
For once in our entire experience with Verizon however, we spoke to someone - a woman for the first time, perhaps that's it? - who actually had a clue, gave a ****, and could explain her way out of a paper bag! She was good, and gave us her card, her personal cell and her promise to help in the future . . . In addition to the bad news above. The question is why the halfwits we have encountered in the past three years have been so totally unable, unwilling, or dishonest as to have put us in this position in the first place. She advised us to call Verizon to report the problem and we have her assurance that about 90% of such situations are settled in the customer's favor. I will let you know.

If you're just reading them from email attachments, you can just open it to "view" the document.
However, if you wish to do editing and work, you'll need an application. I use Documents to Go, but there are other versions that people are happy with - do a search in the App store for "office suite" or "word processing".
The next challenge is getting docs back and forth. Doc2Go and others have their own ways to physically sync docs when connected to a computer; you can also email changed/revised/new documents from the iPad to yourself. However, I use a "cloud service" called DropBox that stores docs in the cloud (so I can get to them anywhere) - I paid for the Premium version of Docs2Go to allow that kind of syncing.

Be sure to install the latest version of Safari (version 5.1.7) which is available via Software Update (in the Apple menu) if you have not already installed it. This update will automatically disable older versions of Flash when new versions are available, and will instruct you on how to install the latest version on your system. This should help keep your system safe from any vulnerabilities in Flash.
Note that this is only useful if you use Safari, though other browsers have their own update mechanisms you should research and enable or configure to your liking.

I am new to digital photo - I have been a B&W film photographer for many years. I have a problem with a Macbook Air. It was working fine - I was using LR and a message came on the screen that said something like the memory was dangerously low. I stopped and tried to delete LR files. I couldn't do it. I closed the program and tried reopening and got the message that there is not enough memory available to open LR. I contacted Apple. They spent a half hour on the phone with me and eventually told me they didn't know how to help. The tech said that LR had gobbled up all the memory and said I should contact Adobe and ask where and how my photo files are stored and to delete them. I have several back-ups. Thanks - Arthur

This sort of error message only comes up for Lightroom when your hard disk is full. Indeed this has nothing to do with internal memory as that will be intelligently be dealt with. If you have a mac Book Air that is not so surprising as the cheapest versions come with very small hard disks and if you shoot raw with any recent camera, you'll fill up your hard disk very quickly and you can probably only store a few months of pictures if you are a typical photographer. So the bottom line is that you need to create some room on your hard disk. You should move some of your originals to an external hard disk. You can also delete some of your backup copies of your catalog file that Lightroom automatically generates every few days and that quickly gobble up hard disk space. So first figure out how full your hard disk is. To see that, go to the apple menu, hit -> About this Mac -> More info->Storage. You should see your internal hard disk on top and you'll find that it is almost entirely full with photos. Now find your Lightroom catalog file using Finder. It is usually in a folder in the Pictures folder in your home directory. You should see a Lightroom 5 Catalog.lrcat file, a previews file and a folder called backups. Inside the backups folder, you'll find a lot of subfolders. They have names that show the dates the backups were created. If you have backups of your entire hard disk, you can delete these backups when they are older than a few months. I usually only keep the last 4 around. Just drag the folders into the trash can on the dock on the bottom of your screen and empty the trash. This will probably free up enough space that Lightroom will already run again. Now start thinking about where you will want to store older images. If you have a good USB3 or Thunderbolt hard disk that is probably the best option. Here’s How to Move Images to Another Drive in Lightroom. « Julieanne Kost's Blog If that doesn't work because you don't have enough hard drive space to run Lightroom yet, here is another set of instructions to move your files using the finder to the other hard disk: How do I move only my photos to another hard drive, leaving the catalog where it is? - The Lightroom Queen. If you follow that, as soon as you confirm all your images are on the new hard disk, you can delete them from your internal one. She is not so clear about that part but if you don't delete the originals that you moved off you don't free up space. You should move the folder structure over to the new hard disk and then reconnect the folders in Lightroom. That should make it refind all your images.
That said, if you are uncomfortable with the computer in itself, your best bet is to find a local photography club. There is invariably a Lightroom savvy person in there that could help you move your files. That might be your best bet if you are uncomfortable moving these yourself. A general mac savvy person like you would find at an Apple store or so generally will not be able to help you with this except when they are photographers themselves and know Lightroom. You might get lucky with that.

The process to update your Tom Tom is a big data file, you will need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network for it to download. If will take about an hour.

Hi, I am new to this support site so forgive me if I am doing it wrong but I have a problem that I am at a loss as what to do. My (very) old mac 10.2.8 won't switch on..I really only use it for music , there is a vast amount of music stored in it and am heartbroken that it won't even switch on. You might want to try resetting its power management unit; see the following tech notes:

The reason I'm suggesting this is that some startup settings are stored and preserved by a tiny battery that lasts about 5 years, inside the computer. When that battery dies, the computer may forget things like what time it is and which disk to start up from. If your Mac is around 5 years old or more, that little battery might be on its way out.
If you can't revive the Mac, don't panic. You can remove its internal hard drive and put it inside a USB/FireWire enclosure so that it can be hooked up to another Mac, and then you can use or copy all of the files and music off of it (assuming the startup problem has nothing to do with the hard drive).
