Hi stedman, in theory, since the machine is a 2008, going from Lion to Snow Leopard should be possible, but requires the usual startup proceedure, boot holding the C key, then since ML is on the hard drive you must do an erase and install. You cannot do a reinstall. I say in theory because if all firmware updates have also been done following installation of Lion, there may be a firmware block now causing problems reading the SL disk.
That is the problem we all face trying to help diagnose these situations remotely...incomplete information.
So, for bistraung: how exactly are you trying to install SL? Are you trying to restart your computer with the SL disk in the optical drive and holding the C key? Or, are you trying to read the disk directly? You cannot do the latter.
Do you have a backup of the drive? If you do the SL install, you must erase the hard drive before installing SL which means you lose everything on the hard drive. So me sure you have a backup or you cannot get anything back.
Best approach would be get an external hard drive, format it Mac OS Extended (Journaled), GUID partition table, and then use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable clone of the internal hard drive. I say CCC instead of SupperDuper since CCC does a better job of also cloning the Recovery Hard Drive, which will be important if you need to work on Lion at all.
With a bootable clone, you can boot to either SL on the internal drive or Lion on the external drive...gives you options.

Adobe Reader never converted Publisher files to PDF, for free, never. I suspect you use to have the (paid for) Adobe Acrobat. Sometimes people have Acrobat (more than $300 worth) and install Adobe Reader over the top, losing that valuable software.
That said, if you subscribed to PDF Pack it should do this conversion. What exactly happens now.

I have old Office:Mac 2004 Student and Teacher Edition from my previous MacBook and it won't download onto my new MacBook Air via external optical drive and says that PowerPC applications are no longer supported. You can purchase Offce 2011 from MacMall for about $99 so it is well worth the money. As said in a previous post by Kappy, you can try one of the free office suites available. They can read Office files and can save documents in Office format. Apple's iWork is also a good ffice suite afavilable from the App Store by download. I have used Open Office,Libre Office and Neo Office and have liked each one of them. Neo Office has the closest match to Apple operating systems - it just feels like an Apple program. Open Office and Libre Office are also very good choices and dont have much of a learning curve at all.

Yes, different computers, different OS's, as stated, does not work on any machine except PPC.
Nothing in console logs. Does not show up in USB under system profiler.
Level 1 tech support. "May be this" or "may be that", but all a waste of time unless someone has the actual camera and can independently verify my results.
If it were just a matter of it happening on one machine that would be one thing. The fact that it only does not work on Intel based machines (and thus Snow Leopard and Lion) it is a pretty good indicator that something is missing in the OS.

Hang during restore process: Following Troubleshooting security software will frequently resolve this error. This error can be caused by the default packet size being set incorrectly. Deleting the "TcpWindowSize" or "GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize" entries in Windows Registry could affect the system's performance with other apps or on their network connections. There are two ways to resolve this:
You can follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) , or follow the steps below to manually find and remove TcpWindowSize and MaxGlobalTcpWindowSize entries from the Registry.
For Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7: Go to the C:\\Windows folder and launch regedit.
Go to Edit > Find.
Search for "TcpWindowSize" entries. There are typically multiple entries of TcpWindowSize/GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize spread throughout the entire Registry. If "TcpWindowSize" exists, one or more third-party applications have changed the user's default Windows settings for TCP/IP.
Go to File and select Export. This step will export a copy of the Registry that can be used as a backup of the original settings.
Delete the "TcpWindowSize" entry.
Search for the next "TcpWindowSize" entry and delete each one until the Registry no longer has any "TcpWindowSize" entries.
Close Regedit, restart the PC, and test.
If you are uncertain as to why these registry entries exist and the PC is a business computer, contact your network administrator and determine what values TCP/IP can be set in their Windows Registry setting so that the PC can update or restore an iOS device rather than deleting the "TcpWindowSize" entry.

How do I uninstall PSE completely so I can install on a new computer?

First go to Editor>Help>Deactivate. That's really the only thing you have to do if you've used both of your two installations already. If you want to uninstall PSE, then do it via Control Panel in Windows, or on a Mac use the uninstaller in the PSE folder in Applications.
If you have a version of PSE prior to PSE 8, no need to deactivate unless you bought a serial number for the trial via the Buy It Now button in PSE. Otherwise there's no activation on earlier versions.
