My activities.
1 ) Win7 and MAcOS X (DUAL BOOT SYSTEM).
2 ) Playing posibble games capable by intel HD graphic 5000.
3 ) Xcode.
4 ) Movie playing.
5 ) Word processing.
6 ) MATLAB
7 ) Final cut pro

I5 Processor and 8gig ram since youre playing with Final Cut pro
I7 reports are getting 35-40% less battery,  my own test with my friends I7 proved same too.
All bench tests showed the only REAL place where there was noticable diff. between I5 and I7 was in Photoshop.
Id rather have 4 seconds slower processing speed on VID edits than lose 4 hours battery life on an I7 processor in which 98% of programs will have NO noticable speed increase on the I7 over that of the I5
As far as movie playing, even BLURAY rips, given the SSD, even my OLD macbook Air never hiccuped on those.......the new Air i have is blazing faster on read / write.

  • HT1349 I want to buy a mac book air

I want to buy a mac book air, currently I have a mac  book pro I bought applications for it. The question is ca I transfer to the mbair or do I have to buy them again? Even if I erase them from it?

You can transfer both your user profile and all assorted applications from your MacBook Pro to your new MacBook Air using the Migration Assistant. You can also make an appointment at the Genius Bar and have them do this for you. If you are buying your new Mac from an Apple Store just let them know and they can assist you as well.

  • Can you buy a mac book air in america then bring it back to england to use?

I will be going to america in the near future and was wondering whether if id be able to pick up a mac book air from an apple store over there. Should they work over here? Is there anything i should know ? thanks.

Yes, as other posters have said simply remove all packaging. Pick yourself a nice laptop bag and carry it on the flight as hand luggage, and don't declare it to customs! Buy yourself a 13amp US - UK plug and you're fine to connect the power cable to UK mains.
Also, if anything happens to go wrong with your Mac in the UK, so long as you are still in warranty it will be hounored in any UK Apple store.
    Good luck.

  • I want to buy a mac book air what it's better upgrade the flash drive to 512gb or to buy a external hard drive of 1tb?

What do you recommend me to do upgrade from 200gb flash drive to 500gb flash or for chepear a good external hard drive of 1 tb this is on the macbook air

Go with the upgrade. Buying an external drive as a primary source of storage would defeat the purpose of buying a MBA, or any notebook, in my opinion.

  • Buy mac book air in us with portuguese keyboard

    Hi there!
I'm a portuguese living in Cleveland and i want to buy a mac book air, but with a portuguese keyboard. I tried to buy it online, but there wasn't no option for a portuguese keyboard. I have a friend that contacted with the store in advance and they trade the keyboard when he bought it. But i don't know how i can contact directly the store where i want to buy it, or if i can do it somehow online. I ask this because the store is a little far away from my house, and i really prefer buying it online...
    Can someone help me please?
    Best regards,
    SM

call 1-800-MY-APPLE.  You can not order a portuguese keyboard online in the US.  It is a special order that must be done via telephone.

  • I need help with information on Mac Book Air

I'm planning to buy the mac book air. I just have a few question i was wondering if people could help me out. Right now i have a sony vaio laptop i hate it to death, but thats beside the point. My question is can the mac book air use a window's mobile cellphone as a air card, because with the sony all i had to do is dl some special files and i could use the cellphone as a air card. I was wondering if this laptop can do the exact same thing???

You will need to provide information on your cell phone and service provider, but the best source would be your service provider since it would depend on what was required to access their service using a cell phone as a modem. Without more information I would guess you can because if you could on your Sony you should be able to use it on any computer provided you had the appropriate cable (usually a USB cable that connects to the phone.)

  • Mac book AIR or Mac book PRO for Autocad light user

Mac book air or mac book pro with autocad?
Hello everyone, i am trying to decide wheter to buy a Mac book AIR 13 inch or the mac book PRO 13 inch. I am an architech switching from office to MAC, and i am a light user of AUTOCAD.
in AUTOCAD I only use 2d, i dont use any 3d or modeling or rendering in Autocad, i only use simple drawing features of autocad.
I dont want to buy a 15 " because it is much heavier, i carry my laptop around all (i have a back problem, so the AIR would be amazing, but i dont know if it would run smoothly
    So my 2 choices are:
    1) AIR: 13" 1.7ghz dual core intel i5, 4gb, intel hd graphics 3000, not sure if 128gb or 256gb hard disk
    2) PRO: 13" 2.3 ghz, dual core intel i5, 4gb,  intel hd graphics 3000, 320gb
    Thanks for you help!!

My preference is the Pro because there are more port options with the MBP.

  • Can mac book air be used for a micro business?

Hi I run a one-person business. I use an old laptop (which now needs replacing)  for:
Creating presentations using PowerPoint and delivering via projector mainly at various locations with equipment of varying quality/brand
Routine office work - using Mocrosoft Office at present
    Email
My new laptop must be light but robust enough to withstand the everyday out of office use
I am a photography hobbyist - not a pro - so I need a reasonable editing feature to
    That's about it
My recently aquired iPad has encouraged me to consider buying a Mac as a replacement for my dying PC
    My question is:
Should I buy a Mac Book Air or should I go for a MB Pro? What are the pros and cons of each
    thanks
    Boss Croker

To answer your initial question first: Yes.
For what you are up to, you don't need super-power on hand, so any MBA or MBP will do. The rest depends on screen size, SSD/HDD space, RAM (>=4GB), connectivity (without adapters, e.g. for Ethernet), weight/size, and... budget.
Coming from a PC (I guess) you'll also need:
    - A handful adapters to be able to connect with whatever you find with projectors and their wiring out there.
    - Maybe Microsoft Office for Mac 2011, but if you don't depend that much on exchanging original MS docs with the outside world, Apple's Pages/Numbers/Keynote may do even better, or one of the free Office-like suites.
    - With an MBA, you'll want a USB->Ethernet adapter. (Forget Thunderbolt->Ethernet, it's useless if you're on a projector at the same time, more expensive, and the USB->Ethernet is offered by more less expensive 3rd-party brands.)
iPhoto, which comes usually free with a new Mac, offers you easy and, for a hobbyist, decent basic editing tools.
    Hope it helps.

  • Mac book air 11.6

Hi, Im looking to buy a mac book air 11.6, but currys seem to sell 2 different versions, can anyone tell me what the difference is?

Buy MacBook Air 11.6-inch, MId 2014, with 1.4 GHz  dual core i5 processor.
Model number may be same. But Mid 2013 model had 1.3GHz dual core i5 CPU.
If possible, upgrade memory to 8GB RAM.
    Best.

  • Product specifications of the latest mac book air

Hi, I want to buy the latest version of the mac book air. How can I ensure that I buy the right one? What are the product specifications that I need to look at when searching online for my macbook air?
    Thanks in advance. Br, Debora

Hi again, sorry to insist but I just want to give you a concrete example
I saw the followiing on amazon
"apple MacBook Air MD231LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION)"
Does this "MD231LL/A" attached to the product model mean something? Do I need to look at this code when I buy my mac book air?
    Thanks again for your reply.
    /d.

  • Any way to charge mac book air with another charger

I am trying to help my aunt with her mac book air, but she didn't sent it with the charger.  I have loads of chargers for our mac book pros, phones and Ipads.  Does anyone know a way to either use those chargers or connect the devices to work off their batteries temporarily?

You can use any of the chargers from your MacBook Pros that have a Magsafe connector.  It won't hurt the Air.

  • Mac book air, seattle

if i want to buy an mac book air (13inch) with an i7 processor, will they have it in store or will they have to order it?

I got my MacBook Air with 8GB RAM (custom) through the online store, but after waiting a couple of days for shipping, I asked at the local Apple Store and learned they did have it in stock.
So I believe popular custom models are occasionally available at the Apple Store, and recommend you phone your local store and ask.
Having said that, I think you have a very low chance of success in your specific case because the i7 Air shows a 1 - 3 day shipping time even from the online store.

  • Hi.. I'm new to mac, I've got a mac book air and time capsule is it possible to save music, video from iTunes Store directly to time capsule leaving my 128GB Mac free? If so  please help..

Hi.. I'm new to mac, I've got a mac book air and time capsule is it possible to save music, video from iTunes Store directly to time capsule leaving my 128GB Mac free? If so  please help..

You can move your iTunes library.. Apple have explicit instructions to do it. If the library is moved to the TC and accessed over wireless, the efficiency of the whole system will drop dramatically..
A file you download goes.. Modem---TC--Laptop--Back to TC--Store on disk. Double looping the wireless slows it dramatically..
As far as using TC for your iTunes.. you CAN.. but SHOULD YOU?
    Store files on the TC.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/24380694#24380694
This is asked several times a day.. obviously people are struggling with their latest SSD being too small.
The TC is not suitable for network file server.. but many people having no choice press it into service as such.
It cannot be partitioned. It was and is and ever shall be a backup device for Time Machine.
    Major issues.
    1. No backup.. no way Time Machine can backup a network drive. No place to backup to.. So all your files will be at risk. And you will need to buy a third party like CCC to do backup.
    2. The TC cannot be partitioned and mixing TM backups and data is not great.
    3. The drive is slow to spin up and quick to spin down.. there is no controls.
    4. iPhoto in particular can easily corrupt its entire library with wireless networking causing a disconnection to one photo. Even if you do this;;; do not move your photo library... you have been warned!!
    5. iTunes will constantly lose connection to the library. The disk is too slow to respond.. itunes on the computer will constantly spit out errors. Even in the midst of streaming the TC can spin down the disk due to caching.
    6. Do not use any live files on the TC no matter what else you do.. if you edit files in whatever program the file must be on the local hard disk.
    7. The only suitable location for most libraries is a computer. You can plug in an external hard disk.
