Help me in choosing..

hello
I want to make my listening better now. I am completely unaware of these soundcard speaker things. I am using 2 tiny desktop speakers that came with my HCL pc 5years ago. So i want to make an upgrade for my ears. The thing is that i am not BCA(Baap ke Cash me Aish).. I want to make this upgradation with my own hardearned parttimes, projects money... The budget is 5K. but lower is better ..
I have choosen ALTEC and Creative..but have few doubts...
1. Do these speakers sound as similar as to the sony hi-fi music systems. mean the bass level is that high ? I have seen Sony mini hi-fi systems paste a sticker on its speakes written 240RMS...But i saw in AL or Creative RMS is only 46 or in some highends 72, 0rms...so it is a doubt for me whether these speakers are capable of delivering sounds that is being produced by sony hi-fi ..
2. I am a hardcore music lover.. I like all types of music from indian classical to hiphop jazz etc...So i want to have dolby 5.1 multi channel effects in my MP3s and audio cds...Can Creative Soundblaster able to deliver this sounds.. I can afford Soundblaster live 5.1 or 24bit.. I saw in creative's site that this 24bit can upmix stereo to upto 7.1.. Is this true ? Has anyone experienced it ?
3. The most imp. doubt for me is to go for which speaker sets and which model. I had prepared my mind for Creative 4.1..But by reading many replies here, i felt altec is personal choices of most people. But in digit september 2002 issue, creative4. was given some good points and also value for money.. I am a BASS lover. and i want to get heartthurbing, booming bass at a lower volume, unlike some intex, frontech where one have 2 raise volumes to feel the bass...so friends pls help me in solving these doubts... should i go for altec Lansing atp3 , so that i dont have to buy the soundcard...Or go for creative 5.1 5200 or 4.1 4400... I just saw there is new 4.1 model in creative site...
4. My onboard sound is C media..When i am using 98, there was an application 4 channel audio demo. So i think the chip is a 4 channel sound card, isnt it ? I am using XP now, and failed to have proper XP driver for the onboard sound card. So when i am installing the new xp driver, that 4 channel application isnt installing... SO if i buy a creative 4.1 speaker, can i able to listen 4channel sound using my onboard soundcard.that too in music ?
my queries seem to have becoming an Esseay..so i should stop here...PLEASE HELP ME..<!-- / message -->

Im in no position to compare the creative to others im afraid (I havent tried any you suggested). If you provide details on the sony system you are thinking of in () I will try to compare them to the creatives for you.
(2), Most creatives support upmixing for music (CMSS). They seem to have hidden the option in the latest Live! 5.1 drivers, but the audigy (im assuming thats what you mean by 24bit) is probably a better choice anyways. Also note some creative speakers support CMSS too, so check the details for ones you are considering.
(4), You would need to provide details of your motherboard to be sure. Dont trust the driver. Gi'ven that you had 98 on it before I suspect your onboard is stereo only. The supplied software probably doesnt support upmixing music anyway. Of course, thats not the end of the world as some others do. I think you can get such plugins for windows media player and winamp, and PowerDVD supports a fancy version of it anyway (although always crashed with music for me).

I have gone through your document and I am surprised to see MORE information in the document than what you've posted.  I am so mildly suspicious about the authenticity of the document and spreadsheet you've attached.
So far, based on this document, the client wants a chassis that can support up to 700 Gbps backplane.  The only candidate, other than a full-blown Nexus solution, is the 6807-X.
Next, the document also states dual supervisor card with two spare slots.  Good luck trying to get that much empty space on a 6807-X.  This means 6509E.  You can't use a 6513E because of line-card-to-slot limitation.
If you look under the heading "Edge Switching", the first sentence already makes references to 6800ia switch.
There's also a reference stating that the product should have a 100 Gbps backplane.  You can take the 6509E chassis out of the equation.
So you see, I am suspicious about the authenticity of the document.  I agree with mali's and devil's recommendation that if you are serious, you would be engaging Cisco SE/AM in your region.  There are only three reasons, that I can think of, why you've posted this here.  One of them is the intended purpose of this document (and the audience).

  • Please help me to choose the laptop.

I saaw a lot of models but i can't choose. I liked some models like HP ProBook 4730s(A6E93EA)  or (A1E72EA) but in this series the ethernet port placed in such uncomfortable place. I need laptop in such price  category. Can you help me to chose something like that laptop but with eth port in different place.

Where do you want the ethernet port? I hardly ever use mine because laptops are made to be used with wireless, but every now and then like in a hotel room you have to plug in. The ethernet port on the left side is pretty standard on most laptops these days. They used to put them in the back but that was not a good design because people would push them into a wall and break things. The HP Consumer models and most of their laptops have the ethernet port on the left side.

  • Help me to choose a new MacBook

I plan to buy a MacBook within next 15 days. Now I am little bit confused to choose between the two models of 13'' MacBook (new) 2.0GHz or 2.4GHz.
The 2.4 GHz model has 250 GB HDD and illuminating key board as an extra than the 2.0 GHz model. Now I can always upgrade my MacBook HDD even if i go with 160 GB model. So that is surely not a big issue. But I want to know about your views on the processor of 2.4 GHz. Is it really something that makes it much better than 2.0 GHz model? If not, it is wise to go with the 2.0 GHz model as far as the cost it concerned. Since this is going to be my first MacBook I want your views on that. Please compare the two models in a realistic manner so that I can make a good deal. My purpose is surfing, ssh to other machines, slight programming (for large programs I have access to supercomputers), lots of presentation.
I would also like to know about purchasing Apple care. It is really costly. But do you think I should go for it? I am an more or less an expert in Linux OS and computers. Personally I dont believe I need to have this. What do you think of it?

I have used the last two versions of the white Macbooks, and I now have a new 2.4 Ghz aluminum Macbook. The last version of the white Macbooks that I had was the 2.4Ghz one. It seemed to run every bit as fast as the new 2.4GHz model that I have now. Since I had 4GB of RAM in the old one (I also have 4GB in the new one) - I can give you some thoughts.
    1. If you want a white or black MacBook, see if there are still refurbished ones available through Apple. The last four machines I bought were Macbooks (I've been buying them for my family members)- and every one of them were perfect and indistinguishable from new machines (other than the boxes they came in). You could get a 2.4Ghz Black Macbook this way with the same processor as the newest ones (Intel Pereyn). They run every bit as cool as the newest machines, and the memory is much cheaper (about $40 for 4GB through newegg.com as opposed to around $130 for the 4GB for the new machines). Since the hard drive interface is the same, you can easily put any size drive in them you want. I had a 320GB drive in my last white MacBook and I have a 500GB drive in my new aluminum Macbook. The battery life is different. The older model had better battery life - I would say an average of 20-35 more minutes on a charger than the newer model, and the time required to recharge the battery was much lower on the older model. Replacing RAM and the Hard drive on both models is relatively simple. The screen on the newer model is better- even if there seems to be a number of people who don't like it- I think it's fine. And yes, the older model does have firewire - which is only a must if you have legacy firewire devices or plan on using firewire in the future- I don't have either issue, and if I do need firewire connectivity I use my Desktop machine anyway. I upgraded because I had a 12" powerbook in the past, and I really liked it. The 13" aluminum Macbook seems to be the best combination of both worlds. The graphics processing on the newer machine is the NVIDIA chip as opposed to the X1300 in the older machine- but I found the older machine more the adequate for running my application suite, which ran the gambit from web surfing to full on video editing in Final Cut Pro. Hope this helps.

  • Please help me to choose the correct version for my needs

Hi. Currently we have an ESXi server with 2 virtualized windows server 2012 standard edition. I want to setup a new server. His role will only be WDS. The server will have to be a domain controler in order to use WDS or is it not necessary ? If not could
i choose a foundation edition ? I must be able to deploy until 30 images at the same time. Thank you.

WDS has an option to be installed on a domain controller but it does not have to be a domain controller.  It makes sense to have it as a member of a domain.

  • Please help me with choosing the Hardware for my new computer

I am creating a new editing machine that i will be using After effect, photoshop, flash, illustrator, and 3ds max. I do a lot of 3d and 2d animation, video editing and graphic design.
This is the system i am currently planing on building:
CPU: intel core i7 2600k ( I will be overclocking it to around 4.8 ghz)
    Motherboard: Asrock p67 extreme6
    Memory: G.Skill ripjaws x series 16gb ddr3 1600 cas latency 7
    Graphics Card: Gtx 570
Power Supply: Rosewill bronze series 1000w
Hard drive: 4x Corsair F120 in raid 0
    Case: Bitfenix collosus
    Cpu cooler: Noctua Nh-d14
I have a budget of $2500 for this computer. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on things i should change or would recommend a completely different build for my budget.
Also i was wondering if the gtx 570 was a stupid choice and i should get a quadro 2000 instead. I dont do any gaming.
One last thing, do 4 ssd in raid 0 help at all or should i just get 8 hard drive in raid 10, or should i spend less money on hard drives.
P.S. I know that the the i7 2600k has been recalled but i am in no hurry to build this computer. Also feel free to recommend hardware that hasn't yet been released but will probably be out in the next 8 months.
P.S.S All of the programs i listed are CS5.

Agree with all from Todd, and some things I'd consider:
Dual CPUs will pack more rendering punch, especially in your 3D work.
Even though 16GB of RAM is generous, I'd consider more.  Remember the rule:  2GB for each CPU core,  plus some more for OS and other applications.  If you're running 8 threads/cores for rendering, 24GB would be optimum.
While the hard drives will provide awesome performance in that config, it's a lot of money to spend on less than a terabyte of storage.  RAID 0 is also pretty volatile, so be sure to run a reliable and regular backup system.
For my money, I'd probably use one good-sized SSD for a system drive, then 3 or 4 conventional (or hybrid SSD) drives for media storage, with a decent RAID controller. You'll get 3 times the storage for half the price, and still have quite zippy I/O speeds.

  • Help, can't choose "print to pdf" after installing 9.4

Have had previous free versions of Adobe and was always able to select "print to pdf" instead of a printer.  Now that option is gone.  According to some sites, i need to select AdobePDF.inf from my Adobe>Acrobat 9.0> Acrobat> Xtras folder, but under my Adobe folder, I only have Reader 9.0 folder.  Can someone help?

Adobe Reader has never come with the ability to print/export/save to PDF so it's hard to say what is going on. In fact, Adobe has never had a free PDF creator that I'm aware of (if they did, it was a long long time ago). Did you used to have Adobe Acrobat and have replaced it with the free Reader?

  • Help: How to choose egress interface by the internal source IP in ASA5520?

    Hi there,
I'm using ASA 5520: ASA ver 8.4(4)1, ASDM ver 6.4(9), firewall mode: Routed.
There are 2 WAN Interfaces for this ASA: Port 0/3 named 100M; Port 0/0 named Outside.
One LAN interface is Port 0/1 (10.1.0.0/16) There are 2 groups of users, which can be diffentiate by their IP addresses.
UserGroup A: 10.1.6.0/24; UserGroup B is all other LAN users, 10.1.0.0/16, except 10.1.6.0/24.
I'd like to route the Internet traffic as below:
When A accesses Internet, traffic goes thru Port 0/3.
When B accesses Internet, traffic goes thru Port 0/1.
I can't set static-route by checking their source IP, I can't set policy based routing either.
How can this be achieved in my ASA5520?
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Hi,
I guess you need to use a separate router to do the PBR on the basis of the public NAT IP address (and then choose the correct gateway) of the users or build something on the LAN side in the sameway
I guess you could also separate the users on different LAN networks and change the ASA to run in multiple context mode and create different firewall context for both LAN networks (I think every ASA has a license that permits 2 context (admin context isnt counted into this), you can check it with "show version" command). Then again this option would eliminate the use of VPN. (Though L2L VPN are supposedly coming available in multiple context mode later)
Something tells me though that the second option would simply mean too much work or if you are using VPN on the ASA it would mean you would need separate VPN device.

  • Help Needed, to choose...

    Hi everyone.
I'm looking for the right computer that can solve my problems. Im gonna use the mac for Cubase and/or Logic, and it will proberly be audio files, multible layers, that it has to handle. WITH NO MISTAKES!
Which one to choose, I have been offered a MacBook 13", 512, 60 gb, Can this do the job? It has to be a laptop...
    Many Regards, Daud Malik, Denmark.
Please write in simple english, because I don't understand the "computer language" very well...

I just got my Core 2 duo Macbook and it runs Logic Pro incredibly well. I pair it with a Line 6 KB37 and I can run it at 32 samples without glitches! 64 samples for heavy-duty plugins with very low audio CPU meter. It just works great. Much better than my Dual G5. I recommend getting the 2GB of RAM.

  • Help Me To Choose Please

I apologise if I am in the wrong forum, but I could see no-where else to post.
I am currently a Corel user, in the form of 95% - Corel Photo-Paint (Image cut-out with .CPT files extensively used) - 4% CorelDraw in its' entirety in brochure production - 1% PaintShopPRO for artistic effects.
I would appreciate someone telling me which Adobe application(s) or Suites I need to buy in order to enable me to quit using Corel products.
Cost will be a very significant part of my future purchases, but equally I do not want to lose any functionality available in Corel.
    Can anyone help me please??
    Thank you,
    Ian

CS5.5 Design Standard would be about as close to the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite that you’ll come: http://amzn.to/sqLVLy
