Help me in my Career-Growth

hii friends,
Currently I'm working as Pl/sql developer, I'd like to improve my technical skills...I need your valuable suggestions.I'm thinking of to learn informatica,congnos..is it worth doing for a pl/sql developer???will it help my career??I'm getting some suggestions to go for BPEL and Oracle BI tools.I'm in a turmoil to make a decision.I dont want to make a mistake at dis point of my career.Plz help me out .

Hi Neha,
Neha, first congratulation on completing  3 yrs in ABAP. Well most people who have worked in ABAP for a good 3 to 6 years always prefer something new in their routine (want to explore new arena of SAP). Do worry Neha your not the only one who have thought this way.
Well Neha, I can suggest you few modules but that wouldn't really help you out. What I feel is it's best that you find out which areas you are good at and willing to explore (and have got exposed in these past 3 yrs like SD / MM).
Few of my colleague have upgraded their skills and moved from ABAP to  ABAP-SD consultant. These people tell me that it gives them a broader view of their company and its processes going on. They tell me, moving to SD was really a good decision they made on their side.
Well, I would advice you to plan something like what my colleague have done and hope that line may take you where wanted to go. </p>
Regards,
N Krishna.

  • SAP Security Career Growth

    Hi Gurus,
Could u please provide Sap Security Consultant Career Growth

I would suggest that a good start would be not asking for points on the security forum if you wish to be taken seriously.
You should also aim to develop the following:
    - Good understanding of SAP Authorisation Concept (lots of people don't get the basics right)
    - Have an overview of the main business processes
    - Understand risk management from a business and a technical perspective (understand not just the how, but the why's of security)
    - Appreciation of SAP Audit.  If you don't understand what they are looking for then how can you start to secure your system.
You can also look at SAP courses ADM940, ADM950, ADM960
    Hope that helps

I have written an article on IT toolbox which gives folks new to SAP an idea of what a typical career path looks like. It can be found at http://it.toolbox.com/wiki/index.php/Advice_for_Recent_College_Graduates_(aka_%22Freshers%22).
    Here's the short version
college > entry level non-SAP job (3-5 years) > entry level job as SAP end user (3 to 5 years)  > SAP training and/or SAP certification (on the job or nights & weekends)  > entry level SAP configuration job (1 to 3 years) > at this point you can branch to either entry level SAP consulting or to mid level SAP configuration with a company.
You seem to be at step two of the process. It's time for you to look for a job and an end user with a company that is either already running SAP or is in the process of implementing SAP. If you are extremely lucky and land a job with a company in the process of implementing and they're willing to include you on the implementation team as someone who knows the business processes in general but not SAP, then you can shortcut a bit, but that involves a bit of luck.
Please don't choose your future career based on what random folks tell you the future is in a forum. Regardless of anyone's predictions, the correct choice is the area about which you feel most passionate.  Neither HR nor FI are going away any time soon, so your passion for one topic or the other will drive you to learn more and become a vital part of any company you join. Passion is the key.
    I hope this helps!
    Best regards,
      -Tom

  • Help me shaping my Career!!

    Hi Gurus,
I am working with an infrastructure firm since last one year as a SAP MM Consultant. This is the total experience I have in SAP. I wanted to know what would be the best possible career option for me :-
    a) If I continue as SAP MM Consultant with my current firm and side by side I apply to other companies as well.
    b) I go for ABAP course
    c) I go for M.S. Program in SAP from Victoria University, Australia.
    d) I go to Canada, Ragina region for PGDM course in SAP.
    Please help guys!!
    Thanks!

You are probably at the best place where you should be. Most difficult part of SAP career is breaking into an SAP CAREER. Almost all of the SAP jobs are for experienced professionals and it is very tough for the beginners to enter, even after doing SAP Certification which costs a lot. Luckily you are already into it. Stick with it. Gain 2-3 years of overall experience in the present company if you have good learning opportunity there. Else try to do a part-time course into MM module only and make sense out of the things at your present job. Once you understand Materials Management processes, your doubts will automatically go away and you will be confident in applying for jobs. If you want more credentials to add to your profile, SAP Certification can a good choice. The discussion on the topic of SAP Certification can be very lengthy. Hope it helps

  • Testing Career: Is there any SAP career growth???

    Dear SAP Experts,
I am SAP SD Certified fresher, completed certification in Oct.2013.
I joined one of the reputed MNC in June 2014.I was happy thinking that I got entry in SAP but soon my happiness converted into sorrowness because after spending 40 days in the company I got testing project.
In this project my responsibility is to take care testing part.Client is rolling out SAP regionwise and outsourced testing part to my company but there is not much exposure to SAP.
Now there are numerous questions in my mind:
    1) Shall I continue this role or search a new job(but getting new job would very tough as I am fresher)?
    2) Is this testing project affect my SAP career?
    3) Going forward what are different things I should learn so that I will get good hike after 2 yrs if I continue this role.
    4) Shall I join any institute which will give me insight about support or implementation project so that I can show in next intw(after 2 yrs) even if I worked in testing project i know process of implementation or I know the types of tickets and all other stuff
    Kindly guide me.
    Regards,
    Abhijeet.

    Hi Abhijeet,
This is sad part but I don't want to demotivate you more as this is your first job in SAP career.
"Which road you take that will lead your growth".  The problem is if you are starting as testing career then you will move on to same testing roles and will not get any SD implementation or support opportunity.  Just ask them, would you able to be part of Support or Implementation project.
Positive side: Sometimes if your project likes you, then you will move into SAP implementation project down the line, due to increasing demand of skills in your project.  I have seen many people in the past and recently projects recruited as testing guy then moved into functional roles on implementation.
Testing may be ok in the beginning but do not stay longer because your profile not worthy in future.  Look for better opportunity if they ask you stay more than 6 or 1 year in same testing roles.
Career Path for Testing - Test Analyst, Senior Test Analyst -> Testing Manager -> Testing Director
Career Path for Functional Consultant - Functional Consultant -> Senior Functional Consultant -> Functional Lead -> Solution Architect or Project Manager -> Programme Manager

I am not able to decide where to move further in ORACLE .
Should i go for OCA certification(developer or administrator track) or is their any Functional certification which wopuld be helpful for me as i
    strongly desire to grow now.
Please guide me a way thru as i am confused to choose.
I am new to the portal all suggestions are highly appreciated.
    Regards,

Note there is a certification forum. This forum is for feedback about the forum community.
Also, there is a search feature, and you can also use google to search this site, try a google search like so:
career site:forums.oracle.comOnly you can know what is good for you. My personal feeling is that jobs in the future number in descending order: functional, developer, dba. But again, your desires, abilities and other experience are more important than how many jobs there will be.
"Oracle" is a huge field, there are all types of opportunities. If you are in some huge company, you probably can find our what your opportunities are. What kind of reputation do the DBA's have?

  • In India will the training of SAP SD module help in starting SAP career?

    Hi,
Its more helpful when you a functional knowledge , experience and certification in your hand along with training.

  • Help!! Unnatural display growth...

Everything on my MacBook Pro screen has suddenly tripled in size. Menus, Safari, the dock, everything. All text is pixillated, nothing fits on the page. I went to "displays" in system prefs but that didn't help. Anyone?

I tried the ctrl-fingers trick. It made everything on screen larger, but it won't make it smaller. The wallpaper is the only thing that seems correct size, everything else is too wide, icons, menus etc. Thanks for trying! if you have other ideas...

  • How SAP help me to rebuild career.

    Hello,
I am a Diploma in PRINTING TECHNOLOGY working in Newspaper Production as Associate engineer. I send my resume to JKT SAP academy Kolkata they told me that I am suitable for SAP PP module. My qualification is just 10+2+Diploma. and working exp- 11 years. My question is
    1) Which SAP Functional module would be good for me?
    2) Is the SAP PP module right option for me?
    3) May I utilize My working exp at the time of applying in other industry after completion of the course?
    4) In which type of sector I can apply?
    5) Please suggest any other institute in kolkata.
It will be very helpful to me.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sumit

I did 3 years regular diploma cource in printing technology approved by AICTE. after passing 10+2. My question is it enough qulification for getting job opportunities.
As per my knowledge maximum all companies are asking minimum Degree qualification.
As already suggested, if you want to get into SAP definitely your domain experience supports to either MM or PP module.however, you need to apply for  fresher job in SAP,you need to work for less salary, if you are certified fresher consultant little bit more and job opportunities as well comparatively fresher with out certification, apart from the above you also need to complete your degree simultaneously.
by considering all please take suggestion accordingly.

How can we know how many processors are enough to buy?
I know that each SQL Server edition and version has it's different limitation of the number of processors it can support, for example SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition can support up to 4 sockets or 16 cores per SQL Server Instance, but this does not mean
that I have to buy 4 physical CPUs. two could be enough. how can I know?
This is off topic question how can we answer it. We even dont have any knowledge about your application.
Please speak to licensing specialist about servers and cores below link will give you more information.

  • Career Growth--

    hi
I have 11 years of experience and have worked in role of production dba, PL/SQL developer. I have shifted from being oracle production dba to full time pl/sql developer. I have more interest in solving oracle related issues.
as my experience is increasing my seniors expect me to shift to functional or project management role.. but my interest is towards oracle database..
i do not understand how should i go ahead. i do not want to do monotonous work.
    please advise.
    regards,

Although it's somewhat of a natural progression (a DBA is a technical manager, really), there are a couple of other career options you could pursue rather than moving into team management.
You could become a data architect: you could be the one who knows how x is linked with y and how it all fits together for the business.
You could become a DBA 'specialist' or 'guru': in our team, we have all senior DBAs but we all specialize in certain areas - Exadata/DW, RMAN, Data Guard, OEM. You could find a speciality that the company REALLY needs (for instance, I bet they REALLY need someone who knows backup and restores inside out, front-to-back and upside-down).
I do know of a lot of DBAs who have got 20 years under their belt and they're simply not cut out for management. They're excellent DBAs, they love doing their job and don't really have any wish to move 'up'.
