Help Me in Premiere CS6!

I have been editing a comedy sketch in Premiere Pro CS6. Starting this morning the following message would appear shortly after opening the project file.
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
[/Volumes/BuildDisk/Builds/mightykilt/shared/adobe/MediaCore/ASL/Foundation/Make/Mac/../.. /Src/Timecode.cpp-1014
This appears twice before another message appears saying that Premiere has to shut down. I have no idea how to stop or fix this. Please help me.

Other than seeing Mac in what you posted, I don't think anyone will be able to help without more information

  • Considering dumping my iMac for a PC used for DSLR video editing on Premiere CS6. Help!

So I edit mostly 1080p DSLR footage taken from my canon T3i camera. I purchased a 2011 (the latest model) iMac a little over a year ago, upgraded the RAM to 12GB and it has worked reasonably well. I purchased the base model for $1200 which has a quad core i5 processor, 512mb of video ram, and a measly 500gb hard drive. The past couple of days I have come to the realization that I only use Adobe Programs for graphically intensive work (premiere, after effects, etc). I originally bought my iMac for final cut, but FCPX SUCKS and I switched to Premiere CS6 which works like a dream. Anyways, I'm a senior in high school and do lots of video editing (going to major in video production in college). I'm likely going to differ college for a year and continue my video production business (pretty informal) as well as video production internships at a couple companies (so don't suggest that I get a laptop for portability, not an issue). I just shot an entire wedding with 2 DSLR's and the footage takes up over 20% of my hard drive which is unacceptable. This is very troublesome for me and has been clogging up my computer considerably. I have realized it would make a lot of sense to sell my iMac and purchase a PC that's not only faster, but has much more space. I was ideally looking to sell my iMac for $1000, and from that get a better and faster PC setup for my video editing. $200 would be allocated for a 24" 1080p LED 5ms Asus monitor (from newegg) which would leave $800 remaining for the PC. Ideally it'd be nice to have a little cash left over. Some things that sound appealing to me are: an intel i7 quad core proccessor at least 3.0+ Ghz,  16 GB of ram (maybe 8 to start), 1 GB of video RAM (here is where I'm stuck, my Imac had a Radeon 512mb video card in it, but I've heard premiere runs especially well with nVidia CUDA cards? Don't really know too much about this stuff.) I have no idea what type of card to get, and if I would even see a performance upgrade from my iMac. For storage I'd like at least 2TB of space, should I get two seperate 1 TB drives? One for boot and software and another for video files? Anyways, I assume I can benefit from selling my 2011 i5 iMac to get a faster PC equivalent at a lower price since I mainly edit videos (which is pretty graphically intense) from an HD DSLR camera. I've noticed premiere rendering times on my mac are starting to get pretty slow these days. Ideally it'd be nice to buy a desktop (already assembled) maybe from HP for around $600 (not including the monitor). I'm not completely against building a PC from parts (since I know a friend who can do it for me) I just need help figuring out WHAT exactly it is that I need and would benefit from.

  • PLEASE HELP! Trouble importing media used in Premiere CS6 into CC

After infinitely trouble with stability in OSX Premiere CS6, I´ve tried to open my project in CC. I get a dialogue box when importing media with heading "Cannot Link Media" and saying "The selcted file cannot be linked because it has 2 audio channel(s) and the clip was created with 1 audio channel(s). Now, these clips had no issues in CS6, but after installing CC, I cannot open anything in CS6 and CC won´t, as stated, accept my clips. Now, I tried to uninstall CS6 to late reinstall it. But Adobe seems to have removed the installer, anyway I can´t find it. SERIOUSLY!. This is EXTREMELY frustrating. PLEASE HELP!

I don't have any sure-fire solutions, but I do have a suggestion: rather than opening the whole CS6 project and going through the whole conversion process, try importing just the sequence(s) from the CS6 project into a new CC project. There are a couple of ways to do so: 1) File>Import, select "Import Selected Sequences," then pick the desired ones, or 2) drill down to the project in Media Browser, which will show you it's contents, then drag and drop the sequence(s) into the Project panel.
I found a few bug reports in the same neighborhood. They were all fixed in the release you're using. But each was specific to a particular file type, so you may have hit on a case that we didn't exercise. It could really help us nail this down if you provided one small clip that CC is balking at and, ideally, a CS6 project containing that clip.

I recently uninstalled my premiere cs6 family on my computer due to some erros with some RED scarlet files. As i was uninstalling i saw the option to uninstall ppro cs6 as well as media encoder i de selected media encoder because i was having no issues. And i cannot figure out how to uninstall media encoder.
What Im trying to do is reinstall premier pro cs6 and i do not have that option.
    Please help!

Run it, reinstall everything. AME is tied to Premiere, so there never was a separate installer/ uninstaller to begin with.

  • Video footage I've imported from iMovie to Premiere cs6 is missing after the import!  please help!

I initially imported raw video footage from an event that I shot into iMovie 11, but later decided to try an edit the footage in Adobe Premiere CS6.  I successfully imported the iMovie file folder into CS6, then saved and exited the program to work on it after lunch.  When I returned and reopened the file, the footage could not be found.  I attempted to reopen it in iMovie and it came up as a missing file also.  I know it successfully opened in Premiere because I've seen the footage.  I didn't trash anything so it's not in the trash.  Where did my footage go, and how can I retrieve it?

    Hi Ann, Hi JSW,
I looked around a bit and noticed that this same problem sometimes happens in iMovie itself. People lose their media because it gets copied inside the project file itself. If you right click to see the package contents, you might be able to locate the media and copy it to a dedicated folder, then reconnect media to it in Premiere Pro. See this post on the apple website: Source clip missing | Apple Support Communities

  • Canon XF Import Causes Premiere CS6 to Crash.  Help!

I purchased a Canon XF300 to work specifically with Premiere CS6 as Adobe claims native support for MXF files.
Unfortunately, whenever I import footage from the XF300 into Premiere, it causes Premiere to crash.
This happens no matter what method I use to import the files... using XF Ultility, using Prelude, clicking on import in the Premiere CS6 media browser, opening the files in the media browser and dragging and dropping into a bin.  It doesn't matter.  The crash still happens.
This is not an issue with spanned clips as it happens even without spanned clips.
After importing the clips into a bin, the bin has trouble drawing thumbnails for all the clips, usually but not always the ones not initially visible in the bin window.  The thumbnails don't appear, just gray boxes.  Scrolling down and clicking on the gray boxes, even after waiting several minutes for the system to "catch up," causes a crash.
This is a repeatable problem that *only* happens when using Canon MXF footage.  Every other codec I've tried works just fine.  The Canon footage never works.
I am on a Mid-2012 Mac Pro 2x 3.06 GHz 6-Core Inten Xeon computer running 64GB of Ram on OSX 10.8.3, using Premiere 6.0.2 Creative Cloud.  I use a Matrox MX02 for I/O and a NVIDIA Quadro 4000 with CUDA Driver 5.0.59.
I've troubleshot this problem to death, stripping everything from the machine down to its original factory state (no extra RAM, no NVIDIA card, no Matrox I/O etc.) and the system still crashes every single time I try to import the MXF footage, no matter what method I use.  The only workaround is to transcode to ProRes and that's not acceptable.
Am I the only one having this issue?  Is there something glaringly obvious I'm overlooking?  Thanks in advance for any assistance or perspective.  I am growing increasingly frustrated as I feel Adobe has a software problem here they're not addressing.

That's the thing.  The system drive has plenty of space... 762Gb out of 1TB available.  All the HDs have a ton of space on them.  This has happened since Day 1 when the entire system was brand new.
And only with Canon XF files.  No other codec produces behavior even remotely similar on my system.  It's baffling because everyhting is up to spec as far as I can determine and yet the problem persists.
Limiting the number of clips in a bin is unworkable because of the type of work I'm doing.  Transcoding is the only answer at this point but I really would like to know what's causing this.
I really wish Adobe could try to recreate the problem.  Does anyone else out there using Mac OSX and CS6 have trouble with XF files?  Is it a known issue?

  • Need Help Import Project from Adobe Premiere CS6 TO FCPX

Does anyone have step by step instructions on how to export a project from Adobe Premiere CS6 to FCPX.
    Many Thanks,
    Mat

I am trying to transfer a movie project I made on my work computer (MacBook Pro, iMovie '08) to my home computer (iMovie HD, iBook). I've transferred the files using a Lacie, but when I open iMovie HD on my personal computer, it does not let me open the project I desire.
As you have already found, iMovie '08 projects, as such, are not backwards compatible with previous versions of iMovie. iMovie '08's project basically consists of a list of instructions detailing how a project is to be exported while previous versions of iMovie actually rendered physical file segments ordered properly in a physical timeline reference file.
I can import, but not the whole file, it keeps putting items in the trash. I have exported Mobile, Medium, and Large files.
Basically you have two options. You can either import your raw footage (the Event clips) and "re-create" a project in iMovie HD or export your iMovie '08 project, complete with edits to an HD compatible format (e.g., DV or AIC/AIFF) and import this file into iMovie HD. Unfortunately, this latter approach will not allow you to "manipulate" your previous edits.
Basically, I want to be able to open the file in iMovie, in case I wanted to duplicate it or edit it.
As indicated above, you can import iMovie '08 shared/exported files to iMovie HD but you then have to edit them as source files. To remove a previous edit, you would literally have to delete it from your new project in order to add another.
I also want to be able to continue burning copies of this movie slideshow to DVD (I created a DVD project using iDVD).
Previously authored and burned DVDs can be copy-burned by applications like Toast or used to create stored "image" files that can be used to burn new DVDs on an as needed basis in the Mac OS "Burn" folder or using the Disk Utility application. In fact the "image" file can also be created for this purpose from within iDVD.

  • I am trying to get better playback rendering speed Premiere CS6

I am new to Adobe Premiere CS6.  I am trying to get faster playback rendering speed from my machine.
    Windows 7
i7 4790K Haswell overclocked to 4.5 (watercooled with Corsair)
    16 GB DDR3@799MHz
Asus Z87-WS (4 double graphic card slots)
Geforce GTX 760 (Primary)  GPU hardware acceleration enabled
    Quadro FX5800
250GB Samsung solid state C: (Windows and Adobe)
    250GB Crucial solid state (Scratch)
    2TB Seagate 7200RPM (video files)
    3TB Seagate 7200RPM (storage)
    Seasonic 1000watt PSU
I am primarily editing GoPro videos with effects like TimeWarp or Twixtor and color correction.
I have tried to run the PPBM6 program with no success. I kept getting failure to access files.
I have been looking at adding a second GTX760 with SLI so they will work together.  And possible removing the Quadro if it is slowing things down.
Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks!

...are you SURE your 760 GPU is "enabled" by PPro, and giving you the option of "Mercury Playback Acceleration" under  "General Preferences" ??? If the "Mercury Acceleration" is GREYED OUT and limits you to "software Only", go to Studio 1 website and learn to apply the well known "hack" to enable your 760 in PPro,OR, download their simple program to do it for you.
...Your machine is POWERFUL....especially with your CPU overclock......you MAY want to increase your memory to 32 GB if you are using After Effects....even PPro MAY run better with 32 GB, depending on your workflow.....most systems like yours have at LEAST 32GB system memory.
.....The GoPro codec is natively HIGHLY COMPRESSED and difficult to process, even for beefy machines. That is why they provide the free Cineform tool,( which used to be an expensive professional editing codec), to convert some,or,all of your footage to a more "edit friendly" AVI codec, which will FLY on your machine. HOWEVER, those new AVI files are HUGE.....TRIPLE the original size and requiring a LARGE and FAST disk transfer system. Right now, your single 7200 drive for your media is your SLOWEST component in the chain. The CHEAPEST improvement for you would be to add another MATCHING 2TB 7,200 rpm drive to your existing one and then use the 2 drives to create a fast RAID 0 directly off the mother board to improve the speed of your "media drive". THEN, you MUST insure that this RAID 0 is DILIGENTLY BACKED UP in case of a drive failure in the RAID. This ALSO means you must protect against an unexpected power failure which could destroy the RAID data if the failure happened during a critical write operation.....so,a good UPS is required.
You can OBSERVE how the various components in your system are performing while performing strenuous tasks by bringing up the "task manager" window and watching the CPU load.... if all cores are PEGGED at near 100%, you are "CPU bound". As you are ALREADY overclocked, you can't do anything other than to TRANSCODE your footage to the free Cineform. Your ENABLED GPU can be observed....real time....using the free MSI Afterburner,( or, similar).  Certain operations are accelerated by the GPU with PPro....not ALL!!  Scaling and some effects will use use the "Mercury Acceleration" while rendering previews AND during export. In some cases, rendering previews,or, exporting can be sped up by TEN TIMES by Mercury Acceleration. Watch the "GPU Usage" on Afterburner to see if the GPU is indeed being used, and if you are "saturating" it to its capacity of 100% with accelerated effects.
Make sure your Windows is fully updated to the current time........make sure your NVidia 760 has the most recent driver and DON'T use the Quadro for now. Set your "Windows page file" to be STATIC on your "C" drive at 24GB. Disable "Hibernation" Set all drives NOT to allow "indexing". Do NOT allow any spinning HDD to be over 50% filled....performance WILL decrease.....make sure any HDD is defragged,( do NOT defrag an SSD ! ). Stop all unnecessary processes, esp. anti-virus programs, while editing. Find out how to best "tune" windows to speed it up at the PPBM 6 and 7 websites.
BE AWARE that the "run of the mill" SSDs use cheaper Sandforce controllers, and are less suited to handle highly compressed digital video files. Samsung PRO models and recent Crucial M550 series SSDs ONLY are recommended for video use. Both these non-Sandforce SSDs maintain high WRITE speeds,( over 400MB/sec), AND maintain their high speeds after reaching their "steady state" condition. Cheaper EVO series and non-Marvell controlled SSDs MAY lose their fast write speeds over time and SLOW YOU WAY DOWN !!!  Test your current SSDs by transferring large video files between them  and watching MB per second that appears under "details" in the pop up window during transfer. Make sure none are slow.....test them with HD Tune Pro as well.
Certain non-Adobe plug-ins and certain effects may NOT use all the CPU threads well,or, may not use the GPU.....forcing the CPU to do additional work. You will have to identify problem plug-ins,or, effects by switching them on and off to see if any cripple your system.
Your machine is POWERFUL.....go to PPBM7 website and read the "tweakers" page to learn more....then, register for free and TEST your machine with their video benchmark test for PPro. It should do WELL.....AND it will help identify if you have any "bottlenecks" which are impairing your system.
Good Luck !!!!!.....THEN, start using CC 2014.....like Patton said : "...all glory is FLEETING !!"......so is the lifespan of former PPro versions !!!!!!

  • Premiere CS6 Still Has a Long Way To Go

I'm in commercial editing and work as offline editor, assistant editor and compositor.  I've been using Premiere Pro ever since FCPX came out, but not in the workplace as an offline tool because of certain major missing features:
    - a good EDL exporter (absolutely essential in a commercial pipeline where we're bouncing sequences to grading suites and Flame all the time)
    - dupe detection (essential for prepping sequences for grading)
    - timecode overlays in the monitors
    - colored markers
    - marker overlays (to quickly see what the content of a marker is when scrubbing in the timeline)
    - searchable markers (great when needing to find one line you know you had marked)
    - a visual keyboard settings editor (FCP and Avid got it right, Premiere is a mess, although improved from CS5 which didn't have the ability to search for commands)
    - the ability to rename clips to match file names (can't tell you how many times I use this in FCP)
    - use of CMD X, C and V for cutting, copying and pasting marked selections in the timeline without adding in/out points
    - match frame edit indicators
    - heal match frame edit function
    - timeline to timeline editing.  Not expecting what Avid offers, which is enhanced by the ability to toggle your timeline between source and record, but to be able to do what FCP7 does by letting you edit with clip data, i.e. edit your track layout and edit points from a sequence in the viewer into the timeline.
I'm super disappointed that not a single one of the above features has been addressed in Premiere Pro CS6.  I think the dupe detection, timecode overlays, and EDL export are the biggest disappointments.
For a little clarity on the EDL issue, every editor and assistant I know renames clips after they're imported into the project.  They don't use the "Scene" and "Take" metadata tags, because they want the clip name on the far left of the project window.  This isn't so much of an issue in Avid, but that software is on a different level.  Anyways, in Premiere, once you rename a clip, that's the way the clip name is going to come out out in the EDL.  This is a massive problem for Alexa and RED jobs, which is most of what I work with, because timecode isn't going to be unique to a clip on a multi-day, multi-cam shoot.  In FCP7, you have the option to export your EDL with either clip or file names.  Alternatively, you can select all the clips from your edit and choose "Rename Clip to Match File Name."  Premiere has none of these options.  The only workaround is to go through every clip in your edit, reveal in project, bring up the properties, copy the file name that's there, then paste into the clip name.  This is not a workable solution for a 60 second commercial with an edit every 12-48 frames.
While Speedgrade is lovely, no one is going to convince Company 3, The Mill, MPC, Light Iron, or New Hat to switch from Resolve, Scratch, Baselight or Pablo.  And to get stuff into those systems, EDLs are still the preferred method when you talk to the assistants who are loading the projects.
On the good side, it's great to see improved playback stability and scrubbing, the new audio meters are great, adjustment layers are a big help, the marker tab in the project pane has a lot of potential (why not make it searchable?), and the new trim tool is GREAT and right on par with Avid.
With the exception of the playback control, though, I would trade all of the above improvements to have the hit list above taken care of.  Adobe seems to have added some very good big picture, high profile improvements.  It's the little things that you encounter every day in a long edit that really need some attention now.  PLEASE give a look to this stuff.
I had really hoped I'd be able to use PP CS6 as an offline tool in my pipeline, but that's not going to happen.  Nor do I know any editors or assistants in commercial post in LA who will want to work without the above features.
If anyone has some insights into the above features and maybe making these things work in CS6 as currently released, I'm open to hearing them and hopeful that there are workarounds.
Thanks and have a blessed day!

The command copy, cut paste don't work unless you add edits to create a
discreet clip.  You can't simply copy from an in to an out point.  The
workaround is to add your markers, use lift or extract, undo to clear the
damage you just did to your sequence, then paste the clipboard contents
that you still have from the lift or extract operation.
Regarding Speedgrade, it appears to be in its infancy and has a promising
future, but what you get for free from Davinci Resolve Lite is wildly
awesome.  It does everything the $1000 version of DaVinci does except
stereoscopic color, network rendering, shared projects, and shared memories
between projects (i.e. power mastering).  So, for free, you have a blazing
fast color grade suite with the identical toolset actively in use by
Company 3 and The Mill.  Add a panel or two and you're really rockin and
rolling.  We use it at the shop I'm freelancing at now and it can burn
through dailies transcodes (still essential for Red and Alexa), at about
    40fps.  Awesome.
I think choosing between Avid MC and Premiere is strictly a "what do you
need it for" question.  The main problem with Avid is now and always has
been the hard import aspect.  AMA works kinda ok, but I know no one who
starts and finishes a project strictly with AMA.  Plus it doesn't work on
an average laptop without a lot of herky jerky playback, even at 10:1, and
at some point on a long edit, you're likely going to be working off a
    laptop.
The ability of Premiere to ingest ANYTHING immediately, including DPX
sequences, is phenomenal.  If you don't want to wait for AJA, Blackmagic
has some excellent and more affordable video I/O solutions that work with
CS6 right now.  The playback is so much better than CS5.5.  I think the
reason why it was a problem before was because it's trying to play nice
with anything as it is.  FCP needed everything to be a quicktime.  Avid
needs everything to be MXF.  Premiere says "come one come all!" and that's
a tall, tall order.  Now it's working great and the Adobe folks should be
lauded for whatever engineering magic they used to make this happen.  Huge
timesaver, especially in finishing when I need to bounce more complex comp
    work to Nuke and back.
The second thing that Premiere kills at is effects work, even though it's
not so much Premiere as it is After Effects.  Avid has nothing there close
to this.  Animatte?  Spectramatte?  Give me After Effects any day.  So, you
can offline AND online a project with the Premiere and After Effects combo.
    Awesome!
The biggest shortcoming Premiere has, I think, is it's audio filter suite.
It's a huge liability and something I hope they devote a lot of attention
to.  The way Avid can't match the Premiere/After Effects duo,
Premiere/Soundbooth cannot match what Avid has built in.  The Audiosuite
effects seemed to be designed to give you a bit of ProTools within your
    NLE.
I think the best solution, at least until Smoke 2013 comes out this fall,
seems to be to choose the app that is best suited for your project.  I
don't think the conversation should be about one program wiping out another
one, which it seemed to often be the tone of Avid vs. FCP debates.
The more I play with Premiere CS6, the more I like it.  I used 5 and 5.5 on
commercials a few times and felt like the software was getting in the way,
particularly toward the end when I needed to generate EDLs and OMFs (I
haven't tried the OMF export out of Premiere CS6 yet, but it can't be worse
than 5.5 - my guess is it's no better though, based on what did and did not
get improved).  It was fine for finishing, but you'd have to work around
playback issues all the time, which got a bit embarrassing with clients in
    the room.
I think CS6, for it's numerous shortcomings - none of which are
catastrophic or deal-breakers - provides an excellent foundation on which
to build something that could definitely one day pick where FCP7 left off.
Smoke 2013 is the storm on the horizon, though, if you ask me.  But
competition is GREAT and I actually hope Blackmagic joins the game as well.
    The more the merrier!

  • Wish list for Premiere CS6

Please invest in getting a good slow motion plugin bundled with premiere cs6, the current slow mo is choppy at best even with frame blending. Get twixtor or other bundled with cs6 please.
There should be a button to deactivate all plugins/effects on all clips so playback can be seemless to review an edit. We can only currently do this manually by deselecting every effect on evey clip which takes forever, there should be a generic option for all effects enable/disableon all video in the sequence.
Multicam needs to extend from 4 cameras to at least 8 or above as with most other NLEs
Add some alpha based transitions in the effects transitions similar to pixelan transitions
Particle effects similar trapcode particular for effects like smoke, fire, sparks etc.
extention to lens flare with more control over flare, flare components, rays, glow ect
A colour corrector that will balance colour between clips ergo you have 3 separate clips and the colour temp is slightly different in each, a fast solution is needed to balance all clips. If the shots are similar there should be a way that NLE can correct colour for both so individual clips match with aid of user. A sort of balance this clip to the colour in this other clip. Again basic colour correction is always used and a very time consuming process, simlifying this will help.
Movie sound effects bank for online content. Many people spend hours looking for or creating simple movie sound effects for fighting, inanimate object collisions, effects for impact, wooshes, trailer effects etc.
My oppinion soo far is Adobe CS suits are great and work well together, the software IS getting better so these are just my thoughts.

FAQ: How do I submit a bug report or feature request or otherwise give feedback about Premiere Pro?

  • Adobe Premiere CS6 APPCRASH Fault Module Name:dvamarshal.dll

Hi, I have successfully downloaded and used a few CS6 programs in my new Creative Cloud membership, i.e. Photoshop, Flash, Bridge.
However, I've downloaded and installed and updated, twice, Adobe Premiere CS6. I did uninstall it in between installs.
The program won't open. The error message I keep getting is:

Any suggestions on how to correct this? I don't want to go to a full computer reformat if there is a simpler solution since I just did one recently. Is there anything I can update or download as a patch, perhaps to fix this?
Thanks for any advice! I appreciate your time and looking into this.

Adobe Community: PPro CS6 Hanging on Startup - Crashes or stops working.
    Hi Jeff,
I actually did this yesterday, since I came across the same post. It didn't help. But thanks for suggesting it.
I've taken Premiere Pro CS6 off my computer and will try to reload it today. I am also having issues with the computer itself. If I go away from it and come back in say 10 minutes, everything is frozen. I need to contact HP about this and who knows, maybe Premiere will actually open if I get this other freezing problem taken care of.
I read to fix the HP freeze problem, to shut off the CoolSense feature, and I did, but it's still locking up. I have turned off any sleep, hibernate or other feature like that so it shouldn't be going into any kind of power saver mode. I adjusted my power settings.
I'm still under warranty, so will contact HP. Then I'll get back on the Premiere issue. When it rains it pours, eh? :>)

  • Adobe premiere CS6 hangs on brand new notebook

    Hi all
I am trialing abobe premiere CS6 from the MasterSuite
And it won't open.  It hangs on adobe premiere.exe (via task manager).  It was hanging with Quick time but I fixed that - not that I want to use quicktime but that was where it hung.
It hangs, windows and adobe do not find solutions.  And then I can't shut the PC down unless I use the off button to force shutdown.
