Help me install windows 7 on my imac!

HI!
basically. Im trying to get windows 7 on my mac but every time i load in on to boot camp and it re boots itself to go and start installing windows. it goes to a black screen which says "no bootable device. Insert disk and press any key" to which i have to turn my mac off and reboot it so i can get back on
As far as im aware im doing everything correctly. I have a usb with all the required stuff which bootcamp downloads for you with the option, i have a windows 7 disc (original) it just does not want to work for me! i am using an external disc drive because the one on my mac is broke but i cant see that being the issue as its reading the disc fine up until it tries to download windows and goes to the black screen of death!

The USB should be 2.0 not a 3.0 disk.

The Windows installer has not built-in support for external Optical drives, even if OS X can see it. This is the reason for the error message.
What year/model is your Mac? (Just verifying despite your signature. ).

HELP! installing windows 7 on imac late 2009

Ok, I've read a hundred threads on how to install Windows 7 on a new iMac, I've talked to the Apple "experts" on the phone, and I still can't get it right.
I've used Bootcamp to create my hard drive partition (200 GB). I've downloaded the drivers from Apple (iMacLate_2009_Win7Drivers) and placed the drivers on a flash drive that was formatted as specified on this page:

The flash drive now is called "MBRFAT". The article says to put the drivers on the flash drive not in any subfolders, but the file I downloaded has the drivers already in a subfolder ("drivers"). Do I put that whole subfolder on the flash drive or do I try and find the drivers within that folder? I tried copying the whole "drivers" folder as well as the AutoUnattend.xml to the flash drive.
I went through the whole Windows install and still ended up a blank black screen for over 20 minutes.
What am I doing wrong???
FYI, I'm using Bootcamp 3.0.1 (tried to upgrade to 3.1, but only found the .exe upgrade file which I assume can only be ran after I install windows). I also have updated my OS so I'm now on 10.6.3.

ok first of all, you should not get a black screen after a fresh install of windows 7. as you were installing, the display was working, no? after the install is done you should see the desktop of windows 7. if all you see is a blank screen after a brand new installation of windows 7, you did something wrong in the install.
what i would recommend is just start over. insert your windows install cd and restart, booting from it. go through the installation process as normal. when it is time to select the drive to install to, use the options to first erase and format the partition before selecting it to install. after this, it should install fine, and once it is done you should see the desktop (it will most likely be displayed in the wrong resolution, making it look fuzzy and weird). now you can copy the drivers from your flash drive to the desktop and install them. (sub-folders shouldnt make a difference. just copy it exactly how you downloaded it and you should be fine)

2. Create the partition and insert the Windows disc
3. Your computer will restart into the Windows DVD. Erase BOOTCAMP when it asks for a volume
4. When the install ends, install the drivers

I am using imac 27" late 2013. I tried installing windows 7 64bit using boot camp assistant and it went well. I also download the latest bootcamp 5.

Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.

Hello. When I first opened the Boot Camp Assistant app, it said it could not work with the 3TB fusion drive. With the updated version of Boot Camp, the option to install Windows appeared. I tried to install Windows 8, but the loading bar stopped moving. I waited for hours, but it still did not move. I decided to quit the app, and re-open it, in order to try again. It crashed, and would not open. So I restarted my system and when I did that I noticed that I had about 1GB or so left of storage. This shocked me, because the disk was just suddenly filled for some reason. In hopes of fixing this I used an app called 'CleanMyMac' to try and recover the disk space. And as I thought the disk space returned to normal. However when I went to Disk Utility and clicked 'repair disk' it said this...
There is only 1 partition, so the Boot Camp process did fail.
I don't know whats wrong with my system though? I would like to install Windows, but I'm worried that I might recieve errors again. I have not got Apple Care, but I'm playing on buying it soon, due to it being almost a year since I bought the system.
Maybe I did something wrong when trying to install Windows with Boot Camp? I don't know, but if possible can someone please tell me if I can install Windows and if something is wrong with my system.

With 16GB, it will try to create 16GB hibernation file, 24GB page file, and need 20-30GB for the OS, plus room for temp, cache, applications, 9GB just temp to install SP1 update(s).
did you create 80GB or larger partition?
also, some macs with ssd + hard drive have issues, and of course you need Windows 7 64-bit home premium (Pro to use more).
OWC has up to 32GB, not cheap.

How to install windows 7 on Imac late 2009 using Vmware/Vbox

Hey guys. Here's the thing. I've installed Windows 8 on my imac late 2009 but then i realized that there's no bootcamp drivers for it (check image).
everything works fine except for the video drivers that crash everytime when i install any driver (bootcamp or manually).
So I've searched on many forums n i found a guy that could do that by using Vmware/Virtualbox by accessing the full disk n installing it from there.

Important notes :
- My superdrive is broken
- I can't boot efi windows 7 (cause it needs efi 2.0)
So i might ask u 2 things..
1- Is there a way that i can install all those drivers on windows 8.
2- Can u describe how he did that with Vmware/Virtualbox?

I can't. Just like i said. My superdrive is broken so the only way is to boot from usb but my imac's efi firmware is 1.0 and to boot a windows 7 efi you must have at least efi firmware 2.0. I managed to install windows 8 cause it needed efi firmware 1.0 that's why.

Can't install Windows on my iMac with 16 Go !

I bought an iMac i7 3.4 GHz SSD + 1TB drive and 4GB of ram. I replaced the 4 GB of RAM with 16 GB purchased from Crucial (4 strips 4GB with a priori the same features as the apple strips which are Samsung ...).
Everything is fine when I use Mac OS 10.6.8. No memory problem.
By cons, can not install Windows 7 32 bit or 64. An error occurs during the installation process : 0x80070570. After a little research on the forums, it is an error that may be due to a corrupted media - for example broken record - but this is not the case : my window installed itself perfectly on another computer.
The experience of other users evokes an error caused by memory. So I reinstalled my original bars of 2 GB. And there, no problem of installation. Windows is working properly. After reinstalling Windows, I replaced my memory with my 4 bars crucial,"and there is the drama." Windows becomes unstable : crashes, errors of registration,software installation... useless... I run a diagnostic memory test that went smoothly ! Obviously, the memory does not seem corrupted, especially since it works well on Mac OS 10.6.8.
So I decided to link the two strips origins (2 GB each) with two crucial strips (4 GBeach), a total of 12 GB of ram. And it works.
Do you have an explanation for this problem? Do you know how I can install Windows with my 16 GB crucial?

You make no mention of how your are attempting to install MS Windows so it's a little tough to help you. If you are using Boot Camp please use Boot Camp Assistant and if you still have problems please post in the Boot Camp forum. If you are using virtualization software (Fusion, Parallels etc.) then use the instructions that came with their software and if you still have difficulty please post in their forums.

Trying to install Windows 7 on iMac Mountain Lion - Pain

Hey all,
I am having hard times trying to install Windows 7 (64 bits) on my iMac.
Have followed every steps (Boot Camp and Apple guides, checked the forums here, etc.); made the partition, downloaded the drivers onto an empty and FAT formatted USB hard disk, etc., and all that worked fast and easy.
The problem starts when it comes to install W7 (Superdrive built in so it's in a DVD): after I choose the language, right away it says "No drivers found". It supposes to ask for the drivers after the installation but it does the opposite. I have checked the drivers one by one and it recognizes some of them, but when it tries to load them a new windows pops up repeating the same "No drivers found" thing.
I even modified Boot Camp so now it can burn a ISO image onto a USB drive. Downloaded and tried another W7 version but it was worse ("no bootable device" message...)
Have checked many other threads like this, vids, etc., but have found no solution so far. Apple's help definitely *****... And this supposes to be cake. Have spent days on this and nothing.
Just in case, all I have used on this is Boot Camp (updated, 5.0.4) and everything else on my computer is updated also. Don't have any VM, nothing like that.
Don't know how to solve this and install Windows on my computer. Please somebody help me. I am far from being a tech so will appreciate your patience on descriptions. Thanks!

There are various guides for installation and compatibility on the Apple support site for Bootcamp, did you download and read them?
I have only installed Windows once with Bootcamp, that was Windows 8, I followed the instructions and it worked ok but there seems a few items that you need to be aware of, it is all in the manuals, Apple suggest you print them off for reference.
That is about as much as I can tell you.

Oke here is my and his story/problem:
I start bootcamp download the software i need too install bootcamp on windows 7 Ultimate.
After that i create a partition 200 gig for windows 7 Ultimate. i click on the button to start the install.
After the restart i press enter and the windows setup starts after some clicks i format the bootcamp partition as explained by apple in there support.
I click on install windows start to install after the first boot it wil compleet the install normally this wil install the drivers and you get normal resolution ect,
this doesn't happend. It keeps the big chunky resolution. so that tells me that the drivers aren't installed.
After windows compleets the installation it restarts does a video test, and brings us to the screen where you need to fill in your name and password then windows asked a few things and the world time ect, and when you click on done or compleet. Normally you will get something like this (Please wait a moment windows is preparing your desktop) instead of that the mac restarts, (but the windows dvd is still in the superdrive because you cant get it out) it asked me if i want to press a button to instal windows no i wont, so i wait it counts down so it wil start up windows. now here is the problem it doesnt startup to windows it hangs and does nothing.
I my self have a mid 2010 27'' i5 model and had a blank screen everytime i tryed to instal windows 7 ultimate, i learned that there was a download available where you can create a MBRFAT USB stick where you copy a .xml file and a driver map so windows got the right drivers for my model so it would install succefully,here a link http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173 where i found it.

Oke we are still fighting with this after finished installing windows 7 hangs problem!
My question now is can this problem as mentiond above be caused by plugged in USB devices he also uses a world of warcraft mouse and a logitech keyboard G19 version that can be used with world of warcraft.
He also he got a Sitecom powered USB hub 10 port, and uses 2 WD elements external USB HDD 2Terra connected to the hub that uses 1 port on the mac the other 2 on the mac are the keyboard and mouse that he uses for world of warecraft and there is 1 left on the mac that he uses for his iphone or usb stick.
We are also looking for the new drivers for the i7 mid/late 2011 models so that have a AMD Radeon HD 6970M with 2 GB GDDR5 installed so windows can be installed correctly?

Installing Windows 7 on IMAC 27 256G SSD 2 TB HD Core I7 8G Ram

I am a relative computer novice and purchased in Aug 2010 the lastest IMAC 27" with a 256G SSD and 2TB HD Core I7 withe 8G Ram. Here are my questions:
1. I wish to install Windows 7 on the SSD using Bootcamp. I would then like a recommendation as to whether to install my other programs (MS Office 2010, Quicken, Norton360, et. al.) on either a) the SSD or b)the 2TB Hard Drive.
If I install Windows 7 on the SSD, then how would you recommend partitioning the SSD between OSX and Windows 7? Is there a way to put Windows 7 on the SSD and my other programs (MS Office 2010, Quicken, et. al.) on the 2TB HD?
I'm looking for guidance on the best way to set up this computer. I want the boot up speed of the SSD if possible. The majority of my work is on Windows 7. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

I just got everything working the last 2 days.
I gave it a try with the HDD still under GUID and had made one partition in HFS and one in Fat32.
And like a miracle everything went smooth,no problems at all with the Win7 install under Bootcamp!
So it looks like the new Imacs got a new motherboard and Win7 now installs without a problem though the second drive has GUID.
The only minor inconvenience I see is,that after booting in Win7 the speakers are muted,but one click to demute and everything works fine.MacOS starts with speakers on as usual.I read somewhere,that MacbookPro owners mentioned exactly the same problem and it is as yet unsolved.
As far as I can see there are two types of audio devices,one is Cirrus,the other WS-Audio.
I also sidestepped the bluetooth issues by using a usb keyboard and mouse from my Win PC.Only ejecting of the Win7 DVD didnt work ,but one boot in OSX took care of that too.
I am really happy with my first Mac and thanks again for your help

Can't install windows 7 on imac

I have iMac 27inches Late 2009, running OSX 10.8.4, bootcamp 5
I have a Wondows 7 Home Premium installation disc. When I insert the disc, it could not recognize the disc and pop it out. The disc is clean and no scratch on it. I order another disc, same problem.
Any suggestions would be a great help?

Troubles installing Windows 7 to iMac

So I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my iMac that I got brand new back last summer of 2013. I've been reading how to install it and it says after the installation, I'll need to pop in my OS X disk so it knows the interface correctly. My iMac did not come with any OS X disk; just the computer and wires came in the box. So when I get to that stage, I'm not sure what to do because I have no disk. Any help is greatly appreciated!

While we all use iMacs we don't all use Bootcamp or windows.
