HELP ME!! ipod battery issues!!!!

hello everyone,
i have just purchased an ipod, and it has been less than 3 days since i did. the problem is that i only had time for an initial charge of about 2 hours (half the recommended full charge time), as the power to my house cut out. it is a fifth gen 30 gig video ipod, with a lith-ion battery, and this should not be that much of a problem, as these batteries are less affected by a less than required charge time. anyway, i have realised that the battery seems to lose its charge strangeley fast. the max is about 4 hours! im really scared, because i dont want this thing to be spoiled before i even have a chance to use it... PLEASE HELP!!!! i need any advice on how to solve this problem, and i hear this is a common issue so you guys must know about it.
thanking anyone who helps in advance,
cookieman

I believe you'll have to pay about $30 for shipping
If it's less than 6 months since purchase, there will be no charges.
I doubt they do anything in Pakistan. Fill out the iPod service request link posted and see.
If you have a friend going to the US, they could take it to an Apple store.
If they are going to be here for a few weeks, they could do service request themselves. It usually takes about 2 weeks from the time of request till it comes back.
If you are watching videos, for hours would be about the max time you will get.
If you are only listeneing to music, you should get more than that (14 hours on a 30GB). If you use the backlight, switch songs, amd stop/start all the time, you will get less.

  • 5th Generation iPod Battery Issues

    Hello all.
I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I recently started having. Both my wife and I have 5th generation iPods that we bought 13 months ago. We have been using them on my computer on a regular basis since then.
About 3 weeks ago I started receiving the "low battery warning." I charged it successfully from my PC and from a car adaptor and after rebooting the iPod the battery would be close to empty. My wife's iPod had similar issues within a week of my issue.
I took my iPod into my local Apple store and they charged me ~$60 for a battery replacement and replaced my wife's since it was within warranty. I sync'ed my new iPod at home on the computer and had the same problems within 2 days. I then tried my wife's iPod and her's was dead before she even got to use it.
I just replaced both iPods at Apple yesterday and I'm afraid to plug them into my computer now, but an iPod isn't much fun unless it has music! Any ideas? What can I check? (Keep in mind that we've been using this same computer for quite sometime now.)
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hi,
It might be that there is a driver problem on your PC so the iPod is not drawing enough current to charge fully. Some devices like the blackberry and other mp3 players actually say they are charging when in fact they are discharging! Perhaps you could try another PC with iTunes installed and see if you have the same problem - would at the very least rule out your PC.
    I found this on Wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB
The USB specification provides a 5 V (volts) supply on a single wire from which connected USB devices may draw power. The specification provides for no more than 5.25 V and no less than 4.75 V (5 V±5%) between the positive and negative bus power lines.[11] Initially, a device is only allowed to draw 100 mA. It may request more current from the upstream device in units of 2 mA up to a maximum of 500 mA.
I've got a blackberry and the charger is rated 5v 500mA. It has a usb connector for the power lead so I just unplug the standard usb cable for my bberry and plug in the iPod cable. This is exactly the same as the £19 AC chargers you can buy in the shops
    Hope this helps.

  • Classic Ipod Battery Issue

So I bought an Ipod Classic 80GB when I was in Fallujah mid 2007. First things first, no sand managed to get into the ipod casuing its epic failure. After about a year or so the Ipod started crapping out but wasnt a big deal at first. Little things like shutting off by itself, I thought maybe it was becuase I forgot to hit the hold button becuase I was always on a bike hittin jumps and maybe the jolt cuased a shutdown i never could figure it out. But then it got to where songs would be playing and the ipod paused itself and would freeze for an hour atleast. Then one day the Idud, I mean Ipod, just wouldnt work. Wouldnt charge, wouldnt turn on, wouldnt nothing! Only showed "please wait battery very low". So id plug it into the computer for the rest of the night and come back the next morning and still it would read "please wait battery very low". I was told the battery was most likely bad as the Ipod classic battery life expectancy isnt very long due to not being able to keep a charge.
Ipod was gonna get repaired until I saw the repair prices apple charges. I might wind up getting a new ipod but I dont want to lose the items I bought beucase its the only copy i have. All backup discs were misplaced...differnt story moving on. My Ipod holds a sentimental value and If I can get it repaired for a low cost and not risk losing the songs and videos I have stored then I'll get the friggin thing fixed.
QUESTION - Does it really cost nearly $200 to replace a battery ($59 on itunes replacment program, $159 for the repair) or did i just read the battery replacement page information wrong? Anyone know whether or not thats any repair on an Ipod or what Apple charges just to swap out a battery?

  • Has iPOD battery issue gone away?

Have two iPOD minis. Heard about a battery issue about a year ago, accompanied by a class action suit. Time to get at least another iPOD. Questions:
    1) Was that problem with inferior lithium batteries resolved by Apple? Is it okay to get another iPOD mini? And,
    2) Suggestions on purchasing an iPOD. We use them exclusively for music, nothing else. Would like to go with iPOD mini again, unless I hear otherwise from any of you.
    Thank you

1 - The Mini was not included in the lawsuit. The battery worked as advertised (within reason). Don't think it was (widely) published exactly what the cause/fix was.
2 - The iPod rocks. I recommend it. The Mini (the mot popular iPod ever) was discontinued in October last year. You can still purchase refurbished Minis at www.apple.com/store. They come with a standard one year warranty and you can purchase the Applecare Protection Pln for it as well.

  • Mini ipod battery issue

I have an old generation mini ipod. Despite the battery being charged full it cuts out and flashes up NO BATTERY POWER REMAINS. PLEASE CONNECT IPOD TO POWER. The battery icon flashes up with exclamation mark then completely shuts down. After leaving a few minutes eventually starts up but battery is empty. After leaving a further few minutes it eventually acknowleges a full battery and starts to work but then will shut down and repeat process.i then have to recharge via plug to get to work again.  I realise I have  a very old model ipod but can this be fixed without requiring a new battery?  Is this a common problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have tried restarting but has not worked.

    Hello Paul
The batteries that are in iPods do not last forever, they typically last about 400 times of being charged up and depleted. Check out the articles below for more information about your batteries.  The second article will give more insight and answer to questions that you might have.

  • Video ipod battery issues

My video iPod will not turn off unless it is connected to a power source. When I unplug it, it runs out of batteries despite the fact that it is off. All the buttons work (I can play music, perform all the regular funtions, etc.). I've tried the 5 R's, done everything else suggested by Apple on the website, and even waited half an hour to talk to a customer service rep on the phone (they told me my coverage expired and it would cost $49 to talk to them . . . argh). Nothing's working!!! Sometimes when I turn it on, it says something about FireWire connections not being supported, but I don't know if this has anything to do with the battery issue. What's going on?????

yeah apple costumer service ***** like that. I have some other problems with my 30gb video, i wanted to do the live chat thing, but its only for teh shuffle. mkes no sence, i paid 300+tax wich should not be charged case im an out of state buyer but thats not the point. the opint is i paid more for the product, but i get less service.

  • Restoring help give ipod battery longer life?

Hi, I have one of the old ipods, I believe they refer to it as "ipod with dock" on this site. The battery seems to be inches from death... doesn't hold a charge long anymore, dies abruptly without warning occasionally, low batt icon appears even straight out of the dock sometimes.. I am not in a position where I can send it in right now for a new battery so I am looking for any temporary fixes that might work until I can. Does restoring do anything at all or would I be wasting my time? Thanks!

I don't think a restore would help but you lose nothing by trying. Be aware that this will erase everything currently on your iPod.
Other than that, there's not much you can do.

  • Ipod Battery Issue

    Hi,
I was wondering a couple of days ago, my ipod first generation kinda died on me. I thought it was the battery that went flat which has been happening. When I got home, I tried charging it up but it didn't do anything. It wasn't connected to a pc just tho the socket adapter. After almost 3 hours, it came to life but it first showed the apple logo, then the battery dead icon and then the folder with an exclamation point logo. I left it connected for the night. I thought that was something that happens normally. In the morning it kept revolving between the apple logo and the folder logo. When i tried resetting it, it showed the do not disconnect sign with the disk mode on top. I plugged it into a pc and for the first couple of minutes, it was shown as a usb device and even as an ipod, but i had no access to the drive. Then it was no longer recognized. When I put the base of the ipod to my ear, i can hear the hard drive making a creaking sound and not the general purr it makes. Do I need to put in a new battery or is the ipod dead? Its my first ipod and I got it off some guy. It hasn't had issues except the battery life was generally around 2 - 4 hours which i found to be too short. Can anyone help?
By the way its the 20 gig one and it has a couple of work files that I cannot afford to lose.
    Thanks

      Windows XP Pro

I am having a similar problem. To me, it's almost as if the Ipod does not turn itself off. I could have it fully charged, but when I turn it off, say for a couple of hours, it won't turn back on. I have reset everything. BTW, mine is only about 3 months old also.

  • Help! Z10 Battery issues with 10.1.0.4181

I had to start a separate thread for this, because everyone is reporting different issues and I cannot seem to get any resolution for the problem I am having...
Since updating to 4181 everything has been fine, except my battery life on the Z10 has been cut in half! I used to enjoy about 16 hours of battery life, but since updating I only get around 8 or 9 now. This is driving me nuts, as I cannot go a full day, since updating on Monday, without my phone dying on me.
Some people have said my phone is indexing, but should it take this long?
    Please someone help!!!

    Well that seems odd

  • Can anyone help with my battery issues

This past month my battery has been draining really fast, it could be sitting at 53%, then after a couple of minutes could be at 40%. It used to last all day easily, and I'm not doing anything differently.  I have tried discharging and recharging fully a few times, and thought maybe installing ios 7 might help, but it hasn't
My wife also has been having the same problem recently as well.
    Can anyone help me?
    Regards

Ok, I have restored my phone as a new phone and signed into iCloud for contacts and mail, I have set up my email accounts and downloaded some of my apps, but the battery life is still bad, does this mean my battery is done?
The phone is 10 months old.

  • Ipod battery issues

My ipod only charges half way after 8 hours of charging. I've only had it for 2 months. Does it need a new battery?

If you previously had a firewire iPod, and you had your iBook plugged in, it would still charge even while asleep (on some models). With USB once the computer goes to sleep it stops charging.
Disable sleep mode or buy an Apple wall charger.

  • Help! Ipod / Computer Issues

Hi! This is my 2nd post! Please Help! I got an Ipod last Sunday & the newer models do not come w/ a software cd. I am getting a code 28 error under device manager / ipod not installed properly. I did what it says...downloaded itunes 7. My computer reconizes new hardware found, but will not allow me to load software w/out a cd.
I spoke w/ Apple's tech support & thay suggested I try the ipod on another computer &/ or purchase PCI USB Card.
Any advice? Ipod works fine on my neighbors computer & my computer has a USB 2.0. Hmmmmm??????

You must have your internet connecting before you download the iPod software under iTunes 7

  • IPod Battery issue - doesn't hold charge

Okay, there are a million of these articles, because I guess this happens all of the time.
    -I have Windows, a 4th Gen 20gig iPod, and USB 2.0
    here's the problem:
-When plugged into the power adapter, it restarts constantly and gives the sad ipod face, or occasionally, the Folder icon.
-When plugged into the computer, it has the non-animated low-battery icon.
It goes into disk mode when plugged into the power adapter, but when I disconnect it to plug it into the computer to restore it, it turns off.
I let it sit on the shelf, because my warranty expired.
Recently, after months and months actually, I tried putting it in disk mode, and it turned on! It still only worked the way that it did before (when plugged into a power source).
I don't know what I did, but it worked for a week or so, and now, it's gone. So, I am desperate to fix this without having to put more money into the iPod.

So make an appointment at the Genius Bar and get your battery evaluated.

  • Help with a battery issue-

Last night the battery on my IPhone was about ¾ full, when I woke this morning it was basically dead.
I did a reset, this morning, but does anyone know why that could have happened…

Variety of reasons. Could be you have Push mail (Yahoo) setup and there have been numerous issues with Yahoo servers getting stuck in a communication loop thus causing constant processing on your phone thus killing the battery.
Another issue could just be you had little to no signal. With all cell phones, the are made to crank up power to finding a signal when one is low or not there. If you ever took a phone on a plane and left it on, you would find it hot and battery drained by the time you land as it will constantly being pushing power usage up to find a signal.
Recharge it, and do a reboot (see below). See if it happens again.
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.
You may also wish to read this tread about reboots and odd application behavior.
