Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. I suspect a hardware problem by the hotness.

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen Won't Wi-Fi Sync

My iPod Touch 5th gen won't sync over wi-fi while the two other iPhones and one iPad in the house will. My iPod Touch 5th gen isn't even recognized in iTunes despite having "Sync with this iPod over wi-fi" checked. The "Sync Now" button is grayed out on my iPod as well. What's going on?

  • HT201593 The newest version of iTunes deletes all of my iPod Touch 5th gen audible and visual media when I delete or add music or video to my library and add it to my device manually. Why?

The newest version of iTunes deletes all of my iPod Touch 5th gen audible and visual media when I delete or add music or video to my library and add it to my device manually. Why? I guess the question speaks for itself. I have the latest version of iTunes and iOS 8.2 on my iPod Touch.

If it's any consolation i've just had a similar thing happen. Went to add a playlist and it wiped 35 gig of music off my iPod touch 64g in a nanosecond. I've got the latest iTunes and osx but do not back up because i keep different styles of music (and loads of it) in separate libraries and devices which i don't want mixed together. All my stuff is burned from cd so it's not lost for good and i've got a hard drive with the "lost" mp3 music on it but even so it will take literally weeks to prune the tracks for my iPod to be the same again. Why do they make it so difficult to manage your music on these things. I have massive amounts of music on my computer so autofill is a disastrous unusable gimmick to me. The whole thing seems to be aimed at 9 year old kids with about 6 mp3's on their phone rather than serious music lovers (for example accessing EQ is a joke let alone the lack of a manual option). I'm a dj and use apple for that reason but to be honest i'm beginning to wonder why. I'm absolutely livid. The weird thing is that my mac still shows the titles of the missing tunes in the 'on my device' window but as my macbook storage display shows no increase i'm pretty sure it's all gone. Nightmare. I have no confidence in this device anymore and could barely use the previous osx 8.2 anyway. Why they have to change it every ten minutes is beyond me. As the old saying goes 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' but this format just gets more broken every time they update. An absolute disgrace. Why not just drag and drop or delete. No wonder the iPod is said to be a dying device, it's for music, it is not a phone. Not fit for purpose anymore. I can't be bothered to read a massive 'how to use' article every update. Good technology should be easier and more intuitive with each new version. I suppose i'll have to phone apple at my expense to find out what's going on, or maybe that's the whole idea. Very very very not happy.

    - Try another USB port.
    - Try on another computer
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • IPod touch 5th gen won't accept wifi password

My daughter just got her iPod touch 5th gen 32GB (iOS 8.1.1) for x-mas and has had no problems connecting to our wifi until yesterday. It sees the wifi but when we ask to join, all of a sudden, it says "Incorrect Password for (wifi name)... " but i know it is correct.  I've tried to enter it dozens of times but no luck.  I've also asked other people to enter it but no luck there either.  All of our other devices can connect with no problem so I know its really not the password despite the message.  Our other daughter got an identical iPod touch at x-mas also and she hasn't had any problems connecting on her device.
I have tried to reset the network settings twice now. I have also forgotten the network & tried to rejoin multiple times - no luck.  I've noticed none of the router or IP settings are showing on the device, even though that info does show on my iPhone 5s while its not connected.  It's like it see's the wifi but it's not receiving any info.
    Please help!

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod touch 5th gen won't restore

    Hi
    Brief background:
My sister got a new iPod touch 5th gen and decided to set a password on it, she then somehow managed to forget the password on the same day as she set it.
So I looked online (including on here) and it seemed I could just 'restore it' by putting it into restore mode (which I did successfully) and everything seemed to go as expected, until it had downloaded the restore file (iOS 6.0.1 I think) then computer said something along the lines "can't restore as password is on ipod" but all the website I see say that you just connect it up, put it in restore mode, and no matter what it will restore to original factory settings.
Am I missing something? Please help ASAP as she would really like it working again, and yes she has been told of for doing such a silly thing.
    Additional information:
I have tired this 4 times, including one time just leaving it plugged in the whole time(instead of unplugging it when turning it off and plugging it back in when Turing it on [at start of recovery process])
It was disabled for 1 hour, have tired doing recovery process when disabled and when not disabled.
Both of the above still give the same "must enter password to recovery" type of message.
As brand new. iPod has not yet been synced with any computer, have tired Apples own ways for this and still get same type message.
Thanks a lot, hopefully there is a solution, or something (preferably simple) I am missing.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

  • My iPod Touch 5th gen won't turn on

My iPod touch 5th gen was working fine and was fully charged and then it just shut off and won't turn back on.  There has been no damage to it from anything and there was no reason it should've shut off.  I tried holding down the lock button for a minute and I also tried plugging it in..still nothing.  I can't hold down the home button and lock button at the same time because the home button has been stuck down for about a month.  What else can I try to make it work?

  • My iPod touch 5th gen won't turn on past the apple logo, do I need to restore to factory settings? If so, is there a way to save my photos?

I've had my iPod touch 5th gen for a little over half a year now, haven't had any issues until now. Yesterday it randomly shut down, and when I try to turn it back on, the apple logo shows up but the iPod just stays on that screen, it doesn't turn on any further. I think I might need to restore it to the factory settings to get it to work again, but I'm concerned that I'm going to lose all my photos. I found the backup folder in my computer but it doesn't have any files in it. I have over 600 pictures on my iPod and I really don't want to lose them all. Is there a way that I can either get my iPod to work again without restoring, or a way that I can extract the photos without the iPod actually being in functioning condition? The computer doesn't recognize the device when it gets connected via the USB. Thanks!

    - Connect the iPod to your computer and try to make a backup
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    - Next reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
and try making a backup again. If you can't then there is no way of getting the info off the iPod unless data recovery company can do it. Not cheap.
    - If photos are in an existing iPod backup (iTune>Preferences>Devices  for iTunes backup or an iCloud backu) then restore from that backup. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

  • My iPod touch 5th gen does not respond properly when charging?

Having real issues with my iPod touch 5th gen touchscreen not responding when it's on charge. Parts of the screen go dead or need several taps etc. Tried removing case etc. made sure I'm using included charger and directly to the mains not on an extension. Is it faulty?

Some other users have reported same problem. I have not heard of a resolution. You can try:
    - Using another cable
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • HELP. Ipod Touch 3rd gen won't switch on after updating to OS 4

So here's the thing. I tried to download and install the new OS 4 (i think i had iOS 3.1 before) to my Ipod Touch 3rd gen. Since it was taking a bit too long, i left it hooked up to the laptop for an hour to do some errands. When I got back, the laptop was on standby mode. I checked Itunes and it had this prompt saying update failed or an error occurred (#1602 I think but I don't know what it meant that time). I then checked my Ipod Touch and it was switched off. So we figured maybe the battery got drained while we were gone and tried to plug it via AC charge for 10 minutes. Nothing happened. I tried to hook it up to the laptop, no luck there either. The charger worked fine for an Ipod video we also have. I'm scouring the webs for what to do, Im getting worried. hope someone can help me in this. Thank you.
(and additional question. I'm here in the Philippines right now but this Ipod Touch was my sister's, I think she bought this last year in the US. She just sent it to me this month. So if I take this to the local Apple store, can they do something about my problem? Assuming I cant fix anything by tomorrow. Thanks again folks.)

First I would charge it for an hour and then:
    - Have you tried resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Next would be to place the ipod n recovery mode and then try to restore it via iTunes. For recovery mode see:

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen won't play videos in the camera roll?

I am trying to play videos I have in my iPod Touch's camera roll and it won't play them. What happens is that is shows its a video, shows the time in the video, when you click the play for the video it is paused, you can drag the slider through the timeline and it will go to that point in the video, but it won't play it will just be paused. I can hit the play button on the bottom all day and it won't play. I tried this on numerous videos and the same story. Now, I took these videos on my iPod Touch 4th gen over the past few years, and obviously put them on my 5th gen using the backup feature. These videos are of my daughter as a baby and I really don't want to loose these. Any idea on how to get them to play?

    - Do they play on the computer?

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
