as do I get to connect my iphone to itunes data is not replaced by itunes?? the first time you connect it asked me if I wanted Replaces the data and put yes but now I want to revert

I went on iTunes after not using it for awhile and my old playlists are all gone. My library seems intact, but I don't have a record of my playlists, except for what's in my iPod. I'm afraid to sync them to get the playlists back into my computer, becuase the last time I synced my iphone it erased all my contacts from both my iphone and my computer, and I don't want the sync operation to remove the playlists from the iPod as well.
I don't have any music on my iPhone, so the two devices in question are just the iTunes program on the computer (it's a Dell with Windows Vista) and my 160 GB iPod classic.

The App Store needs subcategories, searching is not a substitute for subcategories

I'm browsing the App Store, looking to see what kind of higher education apps there are. Nearly 1,200 education apps! I'm not going to browse through all of that, so there are a lot of education apps I'll never see, and never buy.
So I come here and type in my question, other people have already pointed out the need for subcategories. One answer is that you can create your own subcategories, just by searching. Wee! What a great solution, Apple!
Didn't work for me, no results for "higher education". Maybe I can try to come up with all the search terms for all the subjects I might be interested in and see if those will only give me a higher level subset.
See the problem? Searching is not a substitute for organization. If this were not true, you wouldn't have categories at all.

I just restored my iphone4 in iTunes ( after not syncing it for about three months) and it wiped all my texts and contacts and I think restored it to three months ago. Any way of undoing this? Thanks!! this?

Only if you have a more recent backup with which to restore from - if you've only got the one from 3 months ago then you will be limited to what was on that.

Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:

Help I itunes will not recognize my iphone or ipod. Trouble with USB driver, device not running in safe mode, and HDCP not supported.

Help! When I connect my iphone or ipod touch to my computer, windows recognizes my device but itunes will not. I can still see my songs, videos, and access the itunes store but my phone and itunes store have no connection so it does me no good. I have for 2 days now tried every trouble shooting method posted with no luck. I think I may have finally found a lead. My Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is showing up under portable mobile devices while it is supposed to be showing up under universal serial Bus controllers from my understanding? Also, while running my diagnostic report under itunes it also says itunes is not running in safe mode, it is not showing enabled in windows firewall (which it is checked), and the HDCP is not supported. I don't know what to do? I am in tears here, someone please help!!!

PLEASE HELP! Itunes will NOT open

I've seen many posts with people saying their itunes will not open and gives an error message that says it has encountered a problem and has to close. Mine started doing this a couple days ago, and I believe it might have been after I updated either itunes or downloaded a Windows update.
I have tried probably everything and nothing is working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and quicktime (together and seperately). I've messed with msconfig, I've even tried reinstalling itunes from the cd that came with my ipod.
Someone please help!

At the moment I do not have quicktime installed. After messing with it so much, I gave up. But the message it was giving me was the same message itunes was giving me, saying it has encountered a problem and needed to close.
that would be the current problem. itunes won't run if you don't have QT on your system. (it will give you an "itunes has encountered a problem ..." message if you try to launch it under those circumstances.)
so let's try a standalone QT 7.0.4 reinstall again, taking a few additional precautions this time.
download and save a copy of the standalone QT 7.0.4 installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
if you get an error message on that install, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.
if the install goes through fine, check some things for us.
does Quicktime launch fine, or do you get an error message? if you get an error message, what does it say?
if your QT is launching fine, do you still get the "itunes has ..." message?

Help Me..iTunes has allowed password set for volume, but password wont work

I just received my iPod Shuffle yesterday. iTunes 7, allowed me to set a password for my iPod Shuffle (for volume control), but the password wont work, yikes.... It's the same password I always use. The volume is so low, I can barely hear it. I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, but my iPod still remembered its password, I tried the Restore under settings in iTunes... no luck.
The error message I get when I try to restore is (same as when I try to access the iTunes Store, which I cannot access either):
ITunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connections active, then try again.
I have cable access to the internet, and that's just fine. I've tried to use the command line to run ipconfig / (I forgot what it said to type after the slash), but I did this twice and it was successful.
I checked my firewall for exceptions, and iTunes is one, so that should be alright. Maybe it's the McAfee Security Center
I would really appreciate any help that you might have to offer.

Here was the problem:
I found out that I had two firewalls up! I would think that wouldn't be possible. Both Windows and Symantec firewalls. Once my friend took down the Windows one, she was able to restore the ipod shuffle to factory settings and go to the ITunes Store. I'm too chicken to apply a password on it again.
Before my friend helped me, I called the 1-800 help line (in India, 9 hours ahead of us, and I think it was after mid-night-but I could not tell I woke her up, I felt bad) and she had me try a few things and I forgot to get her help on putting everything back. But I did sort of write down the changes and was able to retrace and return it to what the PC was.
I just wanted to share this in case anyone else does this.

PLEASE HELP! iTunes store not working, network connection?

oh-my-gosh, i've been working with iTunes for the last few hours. i cannot figure out what is wrong with this. i've been trying to read the other posted messages but i don't understand what the problem is. every time i go to connect to the iTunes store on iTunes it says that 'iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. make sure your network connection is active and try again later.' i've been waiting pretty patiently, with no results. i'm so frustrated. i can't sign in on iTunes or anything. i'm becoming soooo mad. i just got this for christmas and i'm ticked. someone please help me?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!? i'm desperate!

I know this is not much consolation, but please remember that it's Christmas with all those nice, new iPods, all the people who want to use their iTunes gift cards that Santa put in their stockings, etc. It's called the store servers are on overload & it's going to be tough making a connection the next couple of days. This happens every holiday season, so hang in there & keep trying.

Help! iTunes Pass not downloading

I bought the dave matthews band pass for the new album... iTunes is showing all of the content available but will not download to my pass. I check for available purchases and it says I've downloaded all available content... Help! Maybe I'm jumping the gun.... but I'm really excited about this album and can't wait to listen.

I chatted today with someone from support (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/) and they said that because the pass may offer different content it is not all available for download yet. When I mentioned that it looked available in the store (ie. the actual album was not grayed-out) he said that there was a problem with the pass's homepage, and that the content was not available. He offered a refund so that I could just buy the album. Not sure whether or not I'll go out and purchase the actual c.d. or from iTunes. Thoughts?

I found "MSEG" table`s statistics is too old.
so i check logs in db13,and the schedule job do not collect statistics for "MSEG".
Then i execute manually: brconnect -c -u system/system -f stats -t mseg -p 4

If you would like to force the creation of that stats for table MSEG you need to use the -f (force) switch.
If you leave out the -f switch the parameter from stats_change_threshold is taken like you said correctly:

This is the correct statement, however the hyphen in front of the f switch is not correct.
Try again with the following statement (-f in stead of u2013f) you will see that it will work:

The first time my ipod was loaded, someone else did it for me. Now I am doing it myself, and because i am computer illiterate, it will not work. I plug everything into my computer correctly, itunes opens, pulls up my playlist. My ipod symbol shows up on the left side of itunes, (does not flash red) says that I can disconnect it, but nothing has been put on my ipod (all of my previous songs are deleted too... which I know would happen)... what am I doing wrong???

Help! Itunes is not reinstalling

I recently downloaded the newest version of Itunes. Yesterday my computer detected a problem and backup up to a previous date in which it was working correctly. This seems to have screwed up my Itunes. I removed Itunes and Quick time to reinstall it. However, Itunes is not installing. Quick time is installing. What do I need to do???
