HELP ME (Macbook Air + HP printer)

Im trying to connect a Macbook Air to a HP Deskjet 4480, it seems like its set up ok and it says that everything is working but when I try to print anything, the computer shows that its 'printing' but it doesn't what did I do wrong or what can I do??

First trick to try--try to print something. When the printer appears in your dock, click on that and bring up the printer window. Stop the attempted printing (erase the thing you were trying to print), go to where it you find lists printers that the computer can see and connect to. Now erase the printer--delete it. Then click on the + sign to add a printer. The computer should find the HP printer. Select it. Now that it's back, try again. See if that works.

    I FIXED IT MYSELF.
I simply let the iPod run out of battery.
Then it said CONNECT TO POWER.
    And then I did.
And after 15 minutes, it worked!

  • Help connecting Macbook Air to network printer

Hi, i am having trouble connecting a HP OfficeJet 7612 to a Macbook Air running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 (14C109).
The printer is connected to the router via Ethernet and the Macbook is connected to the router via Wifi.
When searching for printers through the HP Utility setup or just by adding a printer it does not show anything in the list of available printers.
There is an iMac in the office running Yosemite and that found the printer straight away, asked to download additional software and was working in minutes.
I can add the printer by IP address but i can only print to it. It says at the bottom of the window  "Please note: An IP connection is supported. However, only the print feature will work properly." This is an all-in-one device and we would like to be able to use the scan feature on the Macbook.
    Things i have tried already:
Uninstalling the driver, printer and software with the HP Uninstaller, this includes a "Reset printing system…"
Downloading and installing the latest drivers and software from the HP website.
    Repairing Disk Permissions.
In the printers EWS chaning the Bonjour Highest Priority Service to 9100 Printing.
    Disabling IPv6 on the printer.
    Restarting the router and printer.
I personally feel it is not a problem with the printer but a problem with Network discovery / Airport settings on the Macbook
Any help would be really appreciated thanks!

  • New Epson WF 7620 will not print with Macbook Air, receive "Print File Was Not Accepted" message.

Hello! To anyone who tries to help me, thank you in advance!
I brought home a new Epson WF 7620 yesterday and did all the necessary stuff, installing it with my Macbook Air (Mac OS X ; 10.7.4.). I installed the software from the site, added the printer to my printer list, enabled "print sharing" and connected it to my wifi network. I am trying to use it wirelessly.
I tried to print a test page of a regular PNG image, but I am receiving the "Print File Was Not Accepted" message in my printer queue. I have changed the file type a couple times to JPG and PDF but more of the same. I have also reset the printer, and have repaired the disk permissions in the Disk Utility to try and get it to work.
None of this seems to be working, suggestions very appreciated!
    Thanks
    MP

Try Linc's suggestion first.  That should cure your issue.  If not, here's something else to consider:

Apple keeps a set of current software for Epson printers.  You should start by going to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and delete the printer from the list (using the "-" key).  Then download Apple's software version from here:
Epson Printer Drivers v2.18 for OS X
Finally, set up the printer as shown here:

  • Trying to connect new MacBook Air to printer (Canon MF4570dn)attached to my PC

I have a new MacBook Air and I am trying to set it up to print to a Canon MF4570dn hooked up via USB to my PC. I have file and printer sharing turned on. The MacBook can see the workgroup --> computer --> printer name. I have tried using Canon's print drivers and generic PCL to no avail. With the former, I get "filter' failed and with the latter, everything seems to work when I look in the printer status (shows that it is waiting to print and then just disappears (as if it has finished printing) - but no printout.
    Network is avilable.

  • Help! Macbook Air lost association with USB Airport hosted Time Machine Backup

Okay, so my wife's Macbook Air was doing Time Machine backup to USB drive attached to previous generation Airport Extreme...
We bought a brand new Airport router a couple of weeks ago, I plugged it in and everything went smoothly. Plugged in USN drive that attached to older APE router, and it's still visible on the network. However, ever since we got the new router, the existing backups are not associated with the Macbook Air anymore.
Yes, I can start over with a new backup file, but I was hoping to use the existing backup (it takes a while to backup wirelessly, and we lose the whole history if we wanted to recover previous versions of files that were backed up—I can't think of anything we'd need right now, but Murphy's Law will probably apply if I go ahead and erase the old and start new).
I was hoping all I would have to do was drag the old backup file onto the Time Machine icon to re-associate it with this computer, but I can't see any way to tell Time Machine, "hey, here's the backup file you are looking for... it's right here on the same USB drive attached to the new router."
(Also, before anyone says to make sure I have a backup of the backup, I do. The computer is backed up offsite with Backblaze, too.)
Perhaps it will be best to just start from scratch with a new Time Machine backup, that just seems like overkill, since there was nothing wrong or corrupt with the existing Time Machine file, I just switched what router it was attached to. Thanks for any advice/enlightenment.

    I guess I have a few comments.
Apple has an opt out.. they do not support Time Machine backups on older Airport Extreme. Apple have always stated it is unreliable and so refused to support it.. only with Gen6 of the AE have they changed to supporting TM backups.
From your point of view it should have worked.. it may indeed still work. But the change of network is significant and it will take some work on your part.
    1. I need to know what OS is the MBA running??
    2. Moving a disk from one network location to another, I would strongly recommend a full reset of Time Machine on the computer.
    See A4 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
    3. Pondini in the same reference has some info about inheriting old backups .. slightly different context but it also could help.
    see B5 and B6
    4. It is also possible to move old backups into a new backup.. but this is then going too far.
I would simply buy a new USB drive.. and keep the old backup drive for a few months until your new one builds up sufficient history to be sure you will not need the old ones.. at that point you can use the old backup drive again after a reformat.
    5. To do the new backup, since wireless is indeed a long and burdensome chore to make that crucial first backup, buy a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter.. assuming your MBA is recent enough. Ethernet is so worthwhile having it is required not optional extra. The cost at $35 is one of the cheapest adapters for a very expensive interface..

  • MacBook Air cannot print on Canon MF8450

We bought a Canon MF8550 for a printer in a small local network which contains a new MacBook Pro and a new MacBook Air. Boths Macs run under OS X 10.6.7. Installing the printer on the Pro worked perfectly fine. We could use every feature and have no problems at all. So we installed the printer in the same manner on the MacBook Air: The installation ran without any problems. I used the Line Printer Daemon with the correct IP adress. For the driver I chosed the MF8400 series and everything during the installation worked fine.
After that I tried to print but the job is stopped immediately and remains in the local printer queue. The printer is set to pause and does nothing at all.
Accessing the printer by its IP adress can be done successfully. So I see it in the network and can get access to it by the user interface of Canon. So I checked the printer queue on the Canon directly but I could not see my job and the printer status is displaying no problems.
    What I did so far:
I uninstalled the whole printer driver (according to the manual of Canon so I deleted
    + jp.co.canon.UFR2.BG.plist
+ the whole Canon folder and
    + CNTDMF8400ZDE.ppd.gz
After uninstalling I emptied the trash and restarted the Mac..
I installed the actual 2.24 version of the Canon URF printer driver from the Canon site which is of mid of April and nothing changed at all - the perfectly same behavior.
With that I checked possible hardware issues especially the obvious single difference to the MacBook Pro environment:
For all tests above I used the printer with the USB ethernet adapter. So to check if here is the origin I installed the printer using Airport - but with the same result - the printer is set to pause by the URFII
When the printer is connected directly to the MacBook AIr by USB it works without any problems.
The support of Canon cannot reproduce this problem so they blame the OS.
    Does anybody have an idea
    thx

To all who'll face the same problem:
Sometimes it is easier than one can imagine:
With a right mouse click on the printer dialog box one can reset the whole printer system. After that I reinstalled the printer and...
    it works!!
Thx to all who had a view.

  • Need help for MacBook Air, is 64Gb enough?

So i was thinking, is there enough space in then64Gb macbook air (2011 11'')? Not going to use it for big games just surfing the web (Facebook, YouTube, google), maybe some applications (Angry Birds and stuff) but not much.. Anyone please help, so basically gonna use it to surf the web not a "proffesional use". Thanks

Yeah, the only reason I would say to get the 128GB MBA is because of the ram. The base model RAM ($999) isn't enough speed considering that you have a solid state drive in your presence.
In regard to the harddrive alone, I like to keep my harddrive organized, so I find smaller harddrives actually beneficial, since if I'm given the space, I would use it up and let things sit on there I don't use. With 128GB, I keep a LaCie Porsche mini harddrive with me, where I dump all my movie and music files, and what not. I either play those movies straight off there, or I put a couple movies I seriously will watch in the near future. I never think that I will be caught in a disaster situation where I would need 6+ hours of movies in one sitting, so I always keep the inventory I keep on my MBA slim. And if I ever need a movie, I really don't mind attaching the mini ext. harddrive for a few minutes to download that particular movie.

  • New Macbook air not printing correctly to WIFI HP Officejet 8500

When I print a MS Word doc ( newsletter) from my IMac the formatting is perfect, all the text, page numbers, headers and footers print in their entirety on the pages.
When I print the exact same document from my Macbook Air, the formatting is off, it cuts off page #'s and items in the headers and footers get cut off and it appears that the page contents is just to big to fit on the page
Any idea what could be causing this?
    Thank you!
    All the best,
    Dan

I am using  Word for mac 2008, version 12.3.6.
Both versions are up to date on both computers.
My iMac is using OSX 10.6.8 and all the Word formatting and printing works fine.
My Macbook air is using OSX 10.8.5. When I print the exact same documents from the Mavbook Air It screws up all the formatting. It almost looks as if the page is about 5% to 10% too large for the printer and stuff at the top and bottom of each page gets cut off.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!
    All the best,
    Dan

  • Help! MacBook Air with Cinema Display or iMac?

I've recently been getting much more into Photography, and I would like to do more editing. The only problem is that I'm finding the screen size of my 11" MacBook Air a little too small for it. It's fast enough, but it has quite a small screen, not a lot of storage space....
So my question is, would it be better to add an Apple Cinema Display to it (not necessarily one of the latest ones, I don't mind the older 20" or 23" Aluminium models), or should I get myself an iMac?
I am a student so obviously I will be doing word processing and internet browsing quite frequently, but in all honest my MacBook Air does not move from my desk that much. Any advice would be appreciated! Is having a MacBook in addition to an iMac being greedy?
    Thanks!

I'm currently sitting in my office using my MBP and looking at a 24" Samsung display. At home I replaced my 4 year old iMac with a 2 year old 13" MBP which is connected to a similar display. That should be tell you all you need to know!
