Where are you physically located?
What country's Store are you using?
The two have to be the same and the payment method for your account also has to be associated (billing address, where iTunes gift card was purchased) with that country.
Has the ID(s) worked before for purchases for this country's store?

Sorry, there's no way around Activation Lock. So, give the phone back to your "friend", as you will never be able to use it.
Apple can't/won't help you.

Help! My Ipod touch isn't showing up in itunes on my macbook!

I haven't been able to sync my ipod touch forever because it's not showing up on my new computer which is an older macbook. I went through all the support questions and tried everything it said, but it's still not showing up. Any ideas?
I just updated itunes today. Everything works find on my ipod but this.

I have been using iMessage fine ever since it came out, I have had no problems at all. I've been in Europe for a week now and all of the sudden yesterday morning, iMessage has stopped receiving messages and when I attemp to send one, it says "sending" and the bar travels about 90% and then freezes, then the red icon saying not delivered comes up, and I'm unsure how to fix it. I've made sure everything is up to date, I've even changed my country in my account, the person trying to message me from canada says when they send me a message, it showed delivered. Why did this just happen randomly and how do I fix it?

It appears that there is something incorrect with your billing information. You need to correct it. For a standard account you need a valid payment method even for free apps. You can however create a new account that is only good for apps by:

allison i had the same problem to but then i figured out! You have to put in a credit card number so you can purchase a game thats free or 0.99 cents or higher then you have to fill in other stuff then press next on your ipod touch or computer then it says you have succesifully created an apple id! Since you did not say how long the battery lasts I am nut sure the battery is the problem.
