Help me on choosing the best sound quality for my music on my itunes!!!

I heard that AIFF Encoder is the best sound quality you can import your music into Itunes. On the settings for AIFF Encoder do you know what Sample Rate, Sample Size, and what Channel I should set it to? Should I just leave them on Auto? How about if I have a HDCD? What are your suggestions?

I agree use Apple Lossless. Bizarrely it is also easier to share Apple Lossless with Windows Media Player than AIFF.
I have my entire iTunes library in Apple Lossless and shared with WMP and also Media Center 2005. I can also use it in full lossless quality with Roku SoundBridge, Apple TV, iPhone, iPod, etc. etc. etc.

  • Creating the Best Video Quality for YouTube Using FCE

Hey guys, have a quick question.  I'm making drum covers for YouTube, and I want the best possible quality for my viewers.  I use Final Cut Express 4.0.1 on my MacBook Pro, and Log and Transfer the video footage from a HDR-CX160 Sony AVCHD Handycam.   What are my best options?
    Thank you!
    Justin

In every aspect of life there is no such thing as one best option as it all depends on your particular circumstances.
Here is a good starting point for you to decide what suits you best.
When you have edited your project in FCE try these settings:-
    Select File>Export>Using QT Conversion.
Click the "Options"  button and when the the Options window opens you will see  "Size", "Settings" and "Sound" buttons.
Click the Size button and set 1920 x 1080
Click  the Settings button and  select:-
    Compression Type . . . . H.264
    Frame Rate . . . . . . . . . Current
    Key Frames . . . . . . . . . Automatic
    Compressor Quality . . . High
Encoding . . . . . . . . . . "Faster" encode will give almost the same quality as "Best" but is twice as fast - your decision!
    Data Rate . . . . . . . . . . Restrict to 10,000kbps  (Don't use a comma when you enter the number)
Then click the "Audio" button and make sure that AAC has been selected.
These settings should give very good quality results fairly quickly, which should play well. Your file size will be around 5GB per hour.
Some people prefer to use the smaller 1280 x 720, in which case the Data Rate should be 5,000kbps.
I suggest you do a quick test with a film under one minute long to see how it looks as there is nothing worse than spending hours encoding a long project only to find that the settings were unsuitable.

  • [SOLVED] How to achieve the best sound quality with USB DAC?

I want to take full advantage of my hardware. However, I'm having trouble understanding what settings I need to configure. I've spent several hours reading through wikis and searching online. Ultimately, I'm trying to achieve the highest quality audio output in stereo that's possible with my setup. USB > Behringer UAC202 > RCA out > Audioengine A2
I've had this DAC working for a couple of weeks, but I noticed that MPD was still eating a lot of CPU cycles upsampling music from 44.1 to 48khz. As I looked into it, it seems that this is unavoidable with ALSA, so I need to use OSS. Is that true? There's some conflicting ideas about when it's necessary to use OSS. I'm not using any legacy applications or old hardware. The "Hardware mixing" section in the ALSA wiki is pretty sparse.
I want all sound to go through the DAC, so I disabled all of the sound options in the BIOS (HDAudio and HDMI audio). I shouldn't need those enabled, right? (What's strange is that ALSA no longer wants to load without them.) I've added the OSS daemon and it starts, but I still don't have any sound in KDE. It no longer offers the "USB Audio CODEC" option. I'm ok with no system sound for now, if I can get MPD working.
    /etc/mpd.conf contains:
    audio_output {
    type "oss"
    name "UCA202"
    device "/dev/oss/usb08bb2902-1/pcm0"
    format "44100:16:2" # optional
    mixer_device "/dev/mixer"
MPD is still starting as the root user. (I know, I should change that)
The daemon starts, but trying to play any track results in the following error in /var/log/mpd/mpd.log:
May 21 10:46 : output: "UCA202" [oss] failed to play: Write error on /dev/oss/usb08bb2902-1/pcm0: Input/output error
So... any help would be appreciated. Maybe, first of all, do I need to use OSS or should I switch back to alsa? Or maybe something else like jack?
    *******EDIT*******
ALSA was the correct choice. The simple solution was to create /etc/asound.conf containing:
    pcm.!default{
    type rate
    slave{
    pcm "plughw:0,0"
    rate 44100
Then change the audio output settings in mpd.conf to:
    audio_output {
    type "alsa"
    name "MPD ALSA"
    device "hw:0,0"
    mixer_control "PCM"
With these settings the DAC receives 44.1khz audio and no upmixing occurs. Only one application can make audio output at a time. MPD uses much less CPU.

Then you will probably want to set a global equalizer for your machine. You can try with alsa, http://krustev.net/w/articles/Global_eq … _for_ALSA/.
If ALSA isn't finegrained enough, jack has a lot more flexibility, except for the fact that it doesn't allow you to set default output device, so you will need a helper application to redirect all output connections to your equalizer.
Well, i would say this is quite subjective. Untouched signal is superior to any equalized sound in my opinion, but i know this debate is never satisfying

  • What settings would get you the best sound quality?

Okay, so I don't really know too much about audio, but I do care abou tsound quality.
I was poking around in the built in MIDI controller and I was looking at the settings for my MacBook Pro Retina 15" and the options under format where "44100Hz, 48000Hz, 88200Hz, and 96000Hz." I am wandering which of these would be the highest quality sound? I am not sure and don't want to mess anytihing up by setting it wrong.
Also, the other option in the channels. Which is better: 2ch-24 bit integer, 2ch-16 bit integer, or 2ch-32 bit float?
I'm not sure if these are dumb questions, but thanks in advanced!

Have a look at this article, you'll get an extensive comparison of the AAC and MP3 formats and bit rates benchmarked against CD format: Planet of Sound - Quality of AAC audio and MP3
Of the various options iTunes gives, AAC and MP3 are compressed formats so you lose some quality but gain space. AIFF (CD) and WAV are uncompressed so you gain quality at the expense of space. Apple Lossless falls somewhere in between, doesn't compress as much as AAC and MP3 so you gain some space but not as much, however it is claimed to give a quality which is the equal to CD. Of the compressed formats AAC is less widely used at present, if you have a non Apple music player or a newer in-car CD player then MP3 would be the most compatible compressed format: iTunes Encoding Strategies

  • Please Help me to Choose the best config to run forms on web

    Hi,
I have started upgrading my application from Dev2000 1.3 to Dev2000 6i in order to deploy on web. I have few questions to ask
    1. I need to know which config is the best & fast to run my applications out of
         1. Applet
         2. IE50Native
         3. JInitiator
    2. For testing I have configured forms server in socket mode. When I am using JInitiator even after exiting the application from test terminal, "ifweb60.exe" process initiated due to this session remains running. It takes long time when I try to initiate the same application for second time. This problem is not frequent, but this has happened 4 times while testing. Could this be due to Pentium4.
    Thanks in advance

    price doesnt matter
    so please guide me
what is best for portray shooting
what all accessories that essential and must have
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The body needs to be good enough to be up to the task at hand.  Example:
Suppose I want to take an image of a flowers in a vase in excellent lighting.  The camera is on a tripod.  The subject is not moving (no "action" to capture.)
In a situation like that, you basically have all the time in the world to frame up and capture that shot.  This shot isn't going to test the limits of what a camera can do -- any camera body would be fine.
If, on the other hand, you're shooting in very poor lighting, then a body that can handle high ISO senstivity levels while keeping the image "noise" levels low would definitely have an advantage.  If you're shooting "action" photography then a camera with a great focus system and a fast frame rate would be definitely have an advantage.
Since portraits tend to be posed and aren't "action" photography, the focus system and frame rate isn't usually critical.  You also usually get to control the lighting in portraiture rather than having to make-do with whatever lighting happens to be available -- so even the ability to shoot at very high ISO settings isn't actually very important (again... for portraiture.  For some other type of photography that might be really important.)
The new 70D will certainly be a more capable camera than the 650D.
The 650D is part of Canon's "Rebel" series.  These are all entry-level bodies... the T3 being the low-end of the range and the T5i being the high-end of the "Rebel" range.
The 70D is part of Canon's mid-range bodies... these are bodies that start to have the benefits of the pro bodies (e.g. the control layout on the camera is much closer to the pro bodies.)
The big new feature on the 70D is Canon's new hybrid AF mode which is especially nice for shooting video.  The 70D also has basically the same focus system as is found on the Canon 7D (the 7D has a lot of optimizations which make it ideal for action photography).  It has a 19 point auto-focus system (vs. the 9 point system found on the Rebel bodies.)
Again... if you're subjects aren't moving then having a more advanced focus system isn't a big deal.
What would be a big deal for portraiture... is lighting gear.

  • Help!!! The best audio interface for Logic Studio

    Hey y'all,
I'm looking for an audio interface. Requirements are: microphone- (XLR), instrument- (1/4") and midi-connectors. I'd like to record everything 1 by 1 all by myself, without audio playback/slowing-down issues. I'm quite new with recording and have no idea which one suits my system and software the best. I want to record as easy as possible and with the most beautiful results available. Price range of up to €500.
    My MacBook Pro:
    Mac OS X 10.6.8
Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
    Geheugen 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    My software: Logic Studio
    Thanks!

If Midi connectivity is important: Focusrite Saffire 6 (USB). Check out the User Guide:
    http://www.focusrite.com/downloads/saffire_6_usb/
Otherwise, I would strongly recommend Mackie's Onyx Blackjack, especially when also out gigging. Check out the product page and you can also download an Owner's Manual:
    http://www.mackie.com/products/onyxblackjack/
I use the Mackie . User Guides/Manuals are a great way of checking out detail about a product when deciding what to buy.

  • HELP! What's the best book/resource for learning more complex interactions in EdgeAnimate?

    Hi there,
I'm completely new to the world of HTML5/javascript etc and I'm looking for a book/person that will teach me (in a comprehensive, 'from the ground up' kind of way) how to apply these sorts of interactions.
1: Drag a symbol and 'throw' it so that the object continues moving at the velocity of finger swipe after the user removes their hand from the screen, slowly decreasing with a pre defined 'inertia' variable.
2: Drag a symbol away from its initial location so that it 'springs' back to it's initial starting point.
3: 'Hit test' principles so that if the user had 'thrown' a symbol I could detect if it had collided with a 'floor' or 'wall' and it would then bounce or would affect the inertia.
4: Smooth drag and drop so that the symbol you are 'carrying' is subjected to a easing formula that makes the motion smoother and less erratic than whan just dragging the actual object directly.
5: Drag and drop in a constrained arc with the symbol rotating back to it's original point as if it were a pendulum. So, the higher you initially drag the item, the faster it would swing back, initially overshooting it's original point, until an inertia variable would eventually mean it would settle at it's origin.
I've seen a few books about EDGE in general, but they seem to be more about how to use the drawing tools and perform basic interactions (on click stop at frame whatever etc).
I guess I need a book on java script, but I'm very keen for something that can communicate how to do these things directly within edge (so wether you enter the code on frame update or touch start etc)
If anybody out there knows of a useful resource to achieve these kind of results I woudl be REALLY greatful. I know there are some posts on the forums that detail some of these things, but I need something that explains in a simple way how and why you do something so that I can properly grasp it.
    Cheers,
    Tom

    Hi there,
Well, I've found a great blog post by a guy called Burak Kanber on how to use Hooke's law in javescript.
    http://burakkanber.com/blog/physics-in-javascript-car-suspension-part-1-spring-mass-damper /
The principles all make sense to me and I can kind of see what's going on with the javescript (whan I say, 'kind of', I mean pretty vaguely) but I can't fathom out how to apply that javescript in Edge. Can anyone describe how to apply this code to Edge directly - ie. Where should I put each section of code to ensure that the drag actions work etc.?
I don't need the canvas stuff as I'll be using graphic objects anyway.
Any help would be massively apreciated!
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Tips For Choosing the Best Samsung Cell Phone Battery

It is difficult to imagine the world would be like if you do not use a mobile phone! We have become so dependent on the use of Samsung mobile phones, we will be panic, if we mistakenly forgot at home. The Samsung mobile phone is a key part of most people's lives, and get them up every minute of friends, family and business partners.
Taking into account a new Samsung mobile phone purchase, but also consider the Samsung mobile phone battery. Here are some suggestions to help.
More standby time and talk time, you should choose a Samsung cell phone battery with high capacity. However, when you select a high-capacity Samsung mobile phone battery, there will be a heavier weight. A bigger Samsung cell phone battery, cell phones can not enter the cell phone pocket, or protectors. If you plan to travel a lot with the phone, which could lead to a problem, your phone may not be easy to carry.
Select the Samsung cell phone battery, lower cost, and may not be the best choice, quality. Make sure you ask if you buy a new battery or refurbished one, which is a key issue! Tips to find a renovation is the incredibly cheap price. Refurbished batteries may have old parts, it may not work as effectively as a new battery.
Buy a new battery, you get a guarantee that if you have any questions? Remember, some just do not work, as long as expected. Usually Samsung phone manufacturers will provide a new battery only when it is purchased in a specified amount of time.

  • How do i get the best DVD Quality?

    HI,
I'm having trouble like many people, to be able to get the best qualiy looking DVD. How do i get my motion menus looking sharp and the colours to say vibrant and not saturate? The quailty reduces compared to the quality i viewed it in the DVD Pro 4 Simulator. Why is this?? What is the best settings to set up a SD DVD? I used: 7 bit-8 bit max, with Two Pass VBR and best motion. How else can i get my meus to look better? Do i change the menu render setting to software rather than hardware, does this make a difference??
Can anyone suggest the best possible settings for a SD DVD Burn?
    Help would be extremly apreciated!

    Hi again,
I filmed a timelaspse for the motion background, filmed on a Canon xl1s, mini dv, and then after capturing and editing, i export using quicktime movie, with settings of the compressor set to none and 100%. I can't export using compressor, due to it not being able to connect to the background process. So that is my reason for quicktime movie export. After export i check in quictime player, and it looks fine and obviously the best i can get until i fix the background progress thing.
I understand it will degrade, just not by so much from when i view it in simulator to just an unpleasing unproffesional look.
If i export my audio in quicktime to ac3 what will that to do change my image quality?? And what do you mean by using good quality blanks??
    Thanks for replying David

  • What is the best video converter for high quality MPEG-4 for Apple TV?

What is the best video converter for high quality MPEG-4 for Apple TV?

Handbrake won't convert AVI files, But there are many more than those mentioned that will
The choice of conversion software is a personal choice, I have around a dozen applications that will tackle AVI's, however VisualHub is not one of them, not because there is anything wrong with it but rather I have enough such applications in my arsenal already.
I would use mpegstreamclip in most scenarios for what you are wanting to do but maybe not always. It is a good idea to have a few applications to choose from as not all do the same thing. mpegstreamclip has a few more options than some bog standard applications without becoming overburdening with choices.
You might want to try a few applications yourself before deciding on the software for you. isquint is a free limited version of visualhub, you might want to give that a whirl to get a feeling for visualhub.
Be aware though that quality conversions do not happen quickly, claims of being faster than other applications may well be correct, but are usually a trade off against quality. Again you need to choose your software to reflect your preferred balance between speed and quality.
Here's how I use mpegstreamclip, http://web.me.com/gartside1104/z008/Mpegstreamclip.html but your AVI's may well be low quality, you shouldn't set the bitrate any higher than your source file and likely lower, you shouldn't increase the frame size either.

I'd put them on an external hard drive(s) and burn them to a DVD as well (at least 2 - 3 copies on different drives/media); I prefer having control and a local solution instead of relying on a server and the possibility of someone (who shouldn't be)  downloading my work.
