  • Please help me open itunes! This is getting ridiculous.

This is the third time I've posted this... no one has answered so far... and I've been without iTunes for over a week now!!!
When trying to open iTunes, a dialog box opens up with the caption "*iTunes Setup Assistant*", and header line "*Download Album Artwork*" which tells me how I can go to the iTunes store and get album artwork from there.
Included in this dialog box are two buttons to choose from: "Next" and "Cancel". I have tried clicking on both of these, to no avail. Nothing happens at all, and I cannot close down the box with the "x" in the top left hand corner either.
After a short while (and a whirrring noise from my frozen laptop), another smaller dialog box opens up with the caption: "*Upgrade Available*", detailing: "*A new version of the Qloud plug-in for iTunes (3.0.1090) is available. Click OK to upgrade*". I am offered two buttons: "OK" and "Cancel". Nothing happens when I click on either of these buttons, except that annoying "blink" sound that means 'nothing doing'.
The dialog box appears in front of every window, and cannot be moved out of the way. The only way to close it is to "End Task" through the Windows Task Manager.
iTunes will not open even after re-booting! Reluctantly, I removed the iTunes and the Quick Time programs from the computer, rebooted, and re-installed iTunes, but the bug is STILL there. I've repeated this, pointlessly, about three or four times. The same thing still happens. It's really upsetting not to be able to open my iTunes library, or update my iPod!
    Please help!

What version of the Mac operating system is installed on your MacBook? To find this information, go to the Apple menu, select About this Mac and look where it says version.
iTunes 11.0.1 requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later, so if you want to use your iPhone with your MacBook, you will need to update the OS on the MacBook at least that far.
You can purchase 10.6.8 on disk from Apple for $20 (in the USA.)
If you want to get a more recent OS, let us know what the specs on your MacBook are, we'll tell you what you can get.
    Best of luck.

  • Cant open Itunes, please help

can someone please help me. i have an ipod photo. a friend of mine has an ipod video, and he wanted me to put some music on his ipod. i wasnt able to do so unless i updated my itunes software. when i did this, and restarted my cpu i was unable to open itunes. it will say that quicktime was not installed. i tried installing this, and also tried a system restore but nothing is working. i also tried to uninstall everything and reinstall with my disc that came with my ipod, but it wont work either. does anyone have any suggestions for me?

okay, let's first try another QT 7.1 standalone install, this time taking a few additional explicit precautions.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes 6
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • Cannot open iTune (Please reinstall iTune error7(windows error 126)

when I installing, there are error as cannot find something look like "Apple Mobile Device" then when I did script it and finished install. and when I open iTune, it doesn't work and pop up error as "Please reinstall iTune error7(windows error 126)
anyway I used to use iTune before but since I tried to up date new version last week it cannot open.
    BR,

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Please help cannot open itunes

I just got this computer a few days ago. I have been spending my evenings getting everything set up and transferred from the desktop me and my sister used to share. So tonight I was getting my iTunes installed. After I installed iTunes, I imported the playlist, and then I updated to version 8.1. I believe the version from the external drive was 7.something. after I had it all set up I tried to play a song to see that all went well. when I tried to play a song it said I need to validate the computer, but my sisters e-mail came up. I figured it was because she got her ipod first and this file came from the old computer. I tried validating with my e-mail and it wouldn't work. I still thought it was the actual iTunes program giving me the problem so I decided to delete it and download it from online instead of the external drive. After I deleted it I realized that the problem was with the songs, since she bought them. I decided to re-install the itunes I had installed previously. I couldn't find it in the recycle bin so I re-installed the one on the external. when I did I got this error message "The file "i Tunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." and the program would not open. so I deleted it again and downloaded the new one from online. That one said it needed to be opened with an application, and I don't know what that means. So I tried a system restore and it said my system restore failed. Now i cannot get any iTunes installed and working on my computer. I tried looking for the file and couldn't find it. I was gonna delete the iTunes folder manually through "my computer" but then it said it might make some things not work right and I got scared. Please help me fix this.

i ended up doing a complete system recovery and got the old itunes off, but i still have the problem of getting "this file needs to be opened with an application" after i download itunes 8.1 setup

  • Can not open itunes please help!!!

Is any one getting this error message, " Quicktime failed to initialize ( Error-2096) Quicktime is required to run itunes. Please uninstall itunes, then install itunes agian)
Now mind you Quick time starts up fine, I have no issues with that, but when I click on the itunes tab that error comes up. I have done everything I know but still can not get itunes to work, I have uninstalled quicktime and itunes and reinstalled it and still nothing, I am running windows XP Media Center Edition, service pack 3. Please some one help me, thank you.

Even though the following article is about the -2096 when launching the QuickTime Player, I'd start with it for your iTunes as well:
[Error -2096 message when opening QuickTime for Windows in Compatibility Mode|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1875]
(If you do end up having to check the iTunes.exe compatibility mode tab too, be sure that no boxes in that tab are checked, not just the compatibility mode tab itself.)

  • HELP WITH OPENING ITUNES!!

I recently had to restore my computer to default. I had Itunes on there and when I downloaded it again and now it won't open. It comes up with the message: "Itune's has encountered a problem and needs to close" It doesn't even bring it up at all. I want to buy more things from the Itunes store and don't know how to. Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check to see if QUicktime works normally. iTunes cannot work if QUicktime doesn't.
If QUicktime is OK, use this troubleshooting article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1421
If QUicktime doesn't launch, give the error message in full.
Then go to your control Panel Classic View and try to start Quicktime Preferences. Give the full text of any error message.
Have you installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar, (possibly starcodec pack, 3ivx)
They are bad news for Quicktime and should be uninstalled.
Post back with the results of your investigations.

  • Help with downlaoding itunes please

I cannot download itunes after my computer was restored to factory settings.  The message I am getting while trying to install is-
An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘policy.8.0.microsoft.VC80.CRT.version=”8.0.50727.4053”.type=”win32-policy”.pub licKeyToken+”1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b”.processorArchitecture=”x86’”.Pleaserefer to Help and Support for more information.

The program will not open and I get an error message of (-200).
the -200 indicates a broken QuickTime. (itunes needs a fully functional QuickTime in order to launch properly.)
let's try the following technique to replace your existing QuickTime.
go into your add/remove programs, select QuickTime, and then click "Remove".
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
after the computer has finished restarting, we'll try to get a fresh QT in there by doing a repair install of itunes.
go back to Add/Remove. select itunes, click "Change", and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through properly, restart the PC again, and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly this time?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You already have got Pages 5.0, but you still have got Pages 4.3, so Pages 4.3 is being opened instead of the newest version, being this the reason why you get a message telling you to update Pages to the most recent version.
If you don't need the old version, open a Finder window, choose Applications in the sidebar and delete the old Pages icon or move it to an external drive. I don't recommend you to do this, as users are complaining about the lack of features of the new version.
Instead, what you can do is to put the new Pages icon in the Dock by dragging it from the Finder window to the Dock, so you can open the new Pages version from the Dock and you can open all your documents with it after opening the application

  • When I open iTunes it takes like 2 min to let me play music

I have an external drive with 200GB of music (aiff files mostly), when I open iTunes the cursor becomes in to the multi color spinning disc, it remains like that for 2 min, at the same time external hard drive starts running, in the meantime there is nothing I can do on iTunes. Once the external drive stops the cursor becomes an arrow again and then everything works
I've been using iTunes like this for many years and I've never had a problem like this, aparently it happens since I updated iTunes to 7.5.
Does it make sense? it's really annoying to wait 2 min everytime I want to open iTunes, please help!

Click on your preference and check the Parental tab for possible restrictions.  Open iTunes, then click the iTunes menu, select preferences after the window opens click on the Parental icon, take a look at the content restrictions section.

  • After setup I can't open itunes

After the setup I can't open itunes:( Please, help!

This sounds like your shortcut is still pointing to iTunes 7 (assuming you upgraded to version 8). Find the version 8 application and it should work.
The problem with the Mac version 8 is that it crashes consistently at startup, and the solution to that is ditching the new library files and reverting to the most recent version 7 library (copy from from the Previous iTunes Library directory and delete the date suffix).
There was a known issue with proxies settings in earlier versions of 7 that has apparently been reintroduced in version 8.
    Way to go, Apple.

  • Help needed with itunes

help needed with itunes please tryed to move my itunes libary to my external hard drive itunes move ok and runs fin but i have none of my music or apps or anything all my stuff is in the itunes folder on my external hard drive but there is nothing on ituns how do i get it back help, please

(Make sure the Music (top left) library is selected before beginning this.)
If you have bad song links in your library, hilite them and hit the delete button. Then locate the folder(s) where your music is located and drag and drop into the large library window in iTunes ( where your tracks show up). This will force the tunes into iTunes. Before you start, check your preferences in iTunes specifically under the"Advanced" tab, general settings. I prefer that the 1st 2 boxes are unchecked. (Keep iTunes Music folder organized & Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library). They are designed to let iTunes manage your library. I prefer to manage it myself. Suit yourself. If there is a way for iTunes to restore broken links other than locating one song at a time I haven't found it yet. (I wish Apple would fix this, as I have used that feature in other apps.) This is the way I do it and I have approx. 25,000 songs and podcasts and videos at present. Hope this helps.
