Help me out ! ! ! !

Question

According to Oracle 8i document, from 8.1.6 we can drop a column But, i unable to drop a column from a table. The following is which i have tried.

SQL> create table test_table (No number(3), Name varchar2(25));
Table created.
SQL> desc test_table
Name Null? Type
NO NUMBER(3)
NAME VARCHAR2(25)
SQL> alter table test_table drop column name;
alter table test_table drop column name
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00406: COMPATIBLE parameter needs to be 8.1.0.0.0 or greater
SQL>
Please help me.

which databse version u are using
..i tried this problem in my machine
it working well yar... i am using 8.1.7.0.0
ok...
