Help me! planning to buy a computer

Hey guys, i am planning to buy a gaming computer from best buy. I have my eyes set on this one: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9366642&type=product&id=1218092150864
But when i check the in store availability none of the best buys near me sell them, i was wondering if i could order that computer inside the best buy store and not online. (My mom doesn't trust buying stuff online)
I have checked other computers that are decent for gaming and their not at any of the stores either.
Just wanted to know if i could order that pc in the best buy store .

It is available in a couple stores in my area. If you go into the store they can order it online for you. Of course you will still have to pay online for it. It will ship to you or the store . Also have them see if they can do a customer fulfillment order for you.

  • Planning to buy a New Computer But Afraid

I am planning to buy a new Laptop. I'm afraid that my applications will be deleted especially games that have saved data in my iPod Touch. For Musics and Stuff i'm not worried as I can organize again in my new iTunes on my new laptop. Any solution for this? I've search online but no useful respond to my problem

Did you see my post to you in that other thread?

Also. Don't get rid of your old PC before you make sure everything is working OK on the new one. This seems basic, but you would not believe the number of folks who do this.
If you keep the old PC you can always keep using it until the new one's setup is perfect.
Just a thought, to make you less afraid!

  • Planning To buy MSI K9N Platinum + AMD X2 3800+

    Hello everyone,
as the title as Iam planning to buy a MSI K9N Platinum board with an AMD X2 3800+ for a new system build. Ive been out of the game for a while, the last time I was really up to date on computer technology is when the AMD XP 2500+ Barton was the hottest thing on the market, some what of a new comer to dual core technology. I have a few questions, mainly about the board it self. I did a little searching and that answered some of my question but I have a few more.
Ive read a lot about the shutdown problems from the board when transferring large files or burning DVDs. I have a few questions about that.
From what I see so far, this is a very informative forum and I appreciate any and all information. So here goes:
    1) It says on the MSI website that the ram slot for this motherboard is at 1.8 volts. The ram Iam planning to get is OCZ Platinum EL XTC PC2-6400 1GB 2X512 DDR2 CL4-5-4-15 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit. On the OCZ website it says that the ram modules run at 2.1 volts. My Question is if I stick this ram in the mother board will it boot long enough for me to go into the bios and change the ram voltage to 2.1 volts?
    2) Now Ive read about the shutdown problems with this board. Ive seen a lot of people up the VCore to 1.35V. If I do this along with a bios flash, will this take care of the problems?
    3) Now the dealer that Iam buying my PC from didn't have this board in stock for the last week. He just got them in 2 days ago this week. Therefore Iam assuming he has the lastest version of these boards. Now are these problems taken care of on the new version of these boards? If not what can I do to get rid of them?
    4) Is there anything else I should know about this motherboard?
    Thanks for the the help.
    Ron

Yes, you could set up manually the voltage to 2.1v perfectly I've got one k9nsli p, with an amdx2 3800+ whit 2gb ddr2 (512x4 twins pack corsair xms2 ddr2 800) that works at 1,9v

My shutdowns problems was resolved by unnistallin' nvidia IDE controller, nothing about vcore or flashin bios... I keep original bios version 1.0 & Core center shows vcore at 1.33v

Good question... 2morrow I'll check on the box of my k9 the part number and will post it

The first week, I was desire burn my k9  shutdowns... shutdowns.... shutdowns... after I find the cause of that ShiX$/#(! (nvidi IDesuxs controller) my life is happy!
    good luck
    Thanks for the the help.

  • Planning to buy a iMac

I actually am planning to buy an iMac. But I do not know if I should buy one because I already have a Macbook Pro. But I want a desktop computer as well.
I do not know if I should buy one now or wait when they release a new one on October...or buy a Windows Vista.
Pls. help me make a decision.
    Thanks

"I do not know if I should buy one now or wait"
Wait. We don't know if there'll be a new model release next week, next month, or next quarter. Considering that you purchased your MBP not long before there was a model update for that line, why don't you wait for a new model iMac this time and "get even." You could then get one loaded with all the latest features so that it has the capability to do anything and everything that you can imagine? If you get the new model while it's still hot, it'll be quite awhile before you need to worry about being "behind the curve." Then, YOU can give all of US some advice, and we'll probably need it;)

    I am planning on buying the bb tour and I am very interested in finding out if there is a capacity of the sd (micro sd) card it will accept. Thank you for your help. {edited personal info}

    Hi!
Media card capacity is not a function of device model. Rather, it is a function of the OS level that the device is running. See this matrix:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB05461&slic...
Being a brand new device, you might be safe in assuming that it will have the highest level of OS...but that would of course be an assumption.
    Good luck!

WOW! That font is difficult to read. But, see if this support document helps you http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3989. Photos stream is based on date and photos more than 30 days old are removed. Photostream is designed as a temporary storage to allow you to download the photos to the computer.

Thanks for the help. Now I can feel comfortable in not having to sign up for cellular when I buy, esp. Since I'll be using my new IPad mostly at home on my Cox wi fi. Then I can see, in using the i pad, how often I'd actually use the cellular, and where. This can help decide which type of cell plan I get. Small problem it may seem, but a very helpful answer. Thanks.

  • Planning on buying a Mac Pro

Hi, I'm planning on buying a Mac Pro 3Ghz in the near future and had a few questions before I buy it.
I plan on using the computer mainly for games but I want to have it for a long time and be able to handle whatever I throw at it (games and otherwise). I had a iMac G3 300Mhz for about 5 years and been useing a iMac 2Ghz more recently, both of which I have been very pleased with but I know a regular tower has alot more options and complications too.
At first I was planning on buying all my RAM from Apple and just getting the monitor seperate (since they seem pretty overpriced), on futher research I found that the 2GB RAM I was going to get at first is really a min. amount for the system and 4GB much better for getting full performance from the computer. Now from Apple the price difference from 2BG to 4GB is $800, not cheap.
So my first question is where can I find memory thats not so expensive? and what are the good brands to buy?
I also found out that the hard drives that apple uses aren't that good. Was going to get the 250GB HD but I probly don't need that much and can always add more so size isn't a big factor.
So what brand has good hard drives and where would be the best place to buy it?
I'm now planning on getting the computer with the min. HD and RAM and upgrading from there but I also want to be able to put in all the upgrades right away and not have to worry about adding more for awhile.
Last is the monitor but that doesn't concern me as much as the main computer. I want to get atleast a 20", any suggestions you have would be appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Last fall Intel customers that run heavy servers were clamoring for Intel to get new chips out the door. Servers are often optimized for multi-cpu/cores, and the new chips run cooler, take less power to run, AND less power to cool. The costs of running a server farm makes any reduction in cost important today. Plus, even though they are clocked slower, are somewhat more efficient (improved and more mature?) that and stability are often what drives servers, not the hottest (figuratively and literally) cpus and systems.
So even if/when Intel does start shipping, and tested/qualified for OEMs they may not have any "left over" for awhile for desktop. And it could be they might even end up in Apple Xserves rather than MacPro.
Given that it took until November (late) for Apple to use Xeon in Xserve I almost wondered if it takes longer and more testing (and revising version of server) or if Apple might be hoping to delay and see if Intel could supply the new 53xx chip (would they use single quad-core or two? or have both configurations?).
Often it does take a "patched" or revised OS to deal with any new hardware as well (10.4.9? 10.5.1? something in-between?).
Anyone whose work is really cpu bound on G5 Quad or Mac Pro will probably be first off the line for these, as they were for the other two systems.

  • Zen MX - planning to buy - MSD - AC - Organizing

    0Zen MX - planning to buy - MSD - AC - Organizing]Hello there,
    and thanks for your interest.
I am acutely planning to buy a Zen MX. I've been looking after it for months, and finally my old player broke completely. So this is my chance to get my Zen.
But beforehand I have to know some little things about it.
First of all, is it possible to bind it in to win7 as a simple mass storage device?
Then, I'd like to use the player semi-stationary as a source for my HiFi-Components at home, without straining the battery unneccesarily. Will the player play if plugged in to a computer or a dedicated USB-Charger which provides only currency but no data line?
I could not find information about this during my researches through the web.
Thanks a lot for reading and your understanding.

Before you buy an MX, read the customer reviews. Creative used to put out a pretty good product. But over the years they've taken obama sized steps backwards.
As much as I dislike Apple, I'm going to have to make the switch.
I'm on my 3rd crati've zen mx now. They last about a month then fail. My original was a Crati've Zen (Without the MX) and it lasted one or two days past the warranty period. I really wish I had just sent that one in for repair rather than buying an MX.
My music is important to me when I travel and I need something reliable. The Creative Zen MX is not.

I have never bought a smart phone before.  Planning to buy iphone5.  Do I pick my phone plan (Verizon) at time or order?

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
They sell iPhones at Verizon Stores. You might want to vist one and have them explain the plans and what you obligation would be with the different options.
Of course if you plan to order tonight it may be too late to visit a store.

  • Planning to Buy iPad-3 concerned about Backlight Bleeding issue !

    Hi Guys,
I am planning to buy the iPad-3, BUt with so many issues of Backlight Bleeding issues popping up. It looks a Rampant issue. Do you guys think I should wait some days before the First Batch of Munfacturing is sold out. Maybe once the Second Batch of production hits the stores this problem would not be there. But at the moment looks like Early Production and the Hasty process to get the Products out on Launch day and ready for delivery could have been the reason these issues slipped out of Quality Control. Do I wait like a month or so? I can do that, will waiting a month help ? I hope I dont get it in my iPad. I dont wanna go through the hassles of exchanging and stuff I would rather wait and buy a little late than go through these issues.
    Cheers !
    Augustya

Augustya, you are always free to wait until another round of hardware becomes available if you are concerned about problems people are having.
I would point out, though, that the discussion group is often looked at as an emergency room in a hostpital...you see only problems because no one healthy goes there.  You can get a false sense of the magnitude of problems if you only look at the number of complaints showing up here.
On the news last night they said Apple sold over 3 million iPads last weekend...the couple dozen problems brought up on here is insignificant out of 3 million items.  Another way of looking at the magnitude of the problem.
So if you have the ability to buy now, you can always go to the store, Apple if that is what you have available, open the iPad there, check it out (they come charged) and see if there is a light bleed problem.  If so complain on the spot and ask for a different unit.
Or wait for another round to be manufactured...just do what you are most comfortable doing.

You'll have to copy/paste the link, but any of those will do great. You'll have to use the Check Stock link to see if your local stores have them but the ASUS for $10 is a good one.
