I do not know if this is the right forum for this post, if not please let me know!!
I am asking for your help because I am really not getting anywhere with my project. So you guys are my last hope.
I am a newbie to data mining and I am doing my best to learn the basics so that I get started with my project.
I guess my problem, is the fact that I am new to data mining and I have no clue how to get started. The approach I have been following is trying to read books about data mining and machine learning so that I can understand and compare all the "numerous" algorithms out there and then try to find to the one(s) that would apply to my case.
The first problem with this approach is that I did not find any good resources (either the subjects are treated on the surface or they are overly made complex and hard to follow through). The second problem is that it is incredibly time consuming. So I am wondering if I should continue in this path or if I should try to proceed differently.
I am sure that a lot of you guys have been in the same position and some of you have struggled with this problem just like me. So, I am hopping that you guys would suggest a method that would help me get started.
The project I am working on is related to the field of agriculture and has as objective to try to find the best values of all the parameters that affect the outcome (the amount of meat produced) of an animal production (could be dairy, poultry, porch, etc...)
So as I said, the approach is to run one or more algorithms on historical data for a certain type of production (poultry for example) and trying to find what should be the best values for the operating conditions that would maximize the growth of the animals (weight), while trying to minimize the production costs. A few examples of the questions that this project is trying to solve are as follows: when is the best time and how long should the barns be light? When and how much food should we give the animals? What is the best operating temperature set point? When and how much cooling/heating should be done? , etc....
As you noticed, all these questions are concerned with the optimization of the operating conditions but most importantly, the reduction of operating costs. Huge amounts (10's of Go) of historical data for these operating conditions are to be used for this purpose.
PS: I am trying to use the Weka learning environment (java based and open-source).
I hope that you guys would kind enough to help me work my way trough this. I would appreciate your help and advice and I thank in advance all of you who took the time to read this lengthy post

Help me please, my Z10 stuck on the loading screen, no data backup :(
Hello, I was deleting some photos from my Z10 (STL100-1) then I restarted it twice or three times before getting stuck on the loading screen, it boots so slowly and it takes about 24 hr to reach 98% then stops booting when it reaches to 99% or sometimes 100%.
I've tried to pull out the battery and wait for one week, and I've also tried to put it on a charger and wait for one week, but the problem still exists.
I need my BBZ10 back without loosing data stored in it, I haven't made any backup and really need my data, is there any way to solve this problemHi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Remove the battery
Wait 15 minutes
Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs. If it fails, please try again but increase the wait time in step 4 to 2 hours, and perhaps as long as 4-5 hours.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.

You already know the answer to this...like insurance, the time to take a backup is BEFORE something goes wrong.

Help Quickly Please: System Preferences Stuck Between Spaces!
Please help me people. My system preferences window is stuck between my spaces. I can't chang any setting on my mac now because of this. I'm hoping that I can get help for free from the apple community instead of paying someone who might not be able to fix it! Even when I quit system preferences and restart it still appears there. I even tried restarting my macbook but its still not working!

You probably wouldn't have to do an erase and install but rather an Archive and Install. Try booting from your install disk first.
Insert the installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
If that doesn't help, try deleting this file. com.apple.windowserver.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- Try another cable
- Try on another computer

I updated my iphone 5 to ios 6.something (something about the speakers) to get rid of a notification and it went into recovery mode!!! My photos are not backed up or on icloud. i havent restored yet because i cannot lose my photos/videos, etc. but tinyumbrella wont work to exit recovery mode. HELP! please:(

the problem im having is whenever i make the choices 1,2,3,4 (CATEgorys) AND hit 1 or 2(current or new member selections) it brings up more than one category...
for example when i hit 1(Category full) and 1(current member)..it displays this:

And it still doesn't compile. -
On my IPad I cannot update or install any Apps. I've tried restarting and that did not help. The Apps are stuck, darkened and say Waiting.... Please help me figure this issue out.
If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

Help ! ADSL IP Profile Stuck at 2Mbps
Hi,
My BT broadband speed has been stable at around 7Mbps installation in October 2013. About three weeks ago my download speed dropped to about 1.92Mbps - I have been through all the appropriate tests using the master socket with numerous devices - all show the same download speed.
It appears that my IP ADSL profile is stuck at 2Mbps ! Please can the mods assist ?
I logged a fault with the offshore guys a week ago but they do not seem to understand the issue - simply repeating the fact the DSL conection rate is 8.13Mbps. This does not help if IP profile is set to 2Mbps.
The link has been stable for 7 days (after they requested a Home Hub reboot).

Speed up batch update of warehouse item records
