Help me please - itunes could not backup iphone because the backup could not be saved on this computer.. tried everything I believe!!

ive tried everything ive read on here plus search www...
still comes up with the error in step 6 of 6 while syncing.. or about a third of the way in if performing a manual backup
driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyone got other ideas??

BT I tried option 1.. nothing happened
I really want to avoid restoring if possible

Dears,
Today I planned to update my iPhone 4 to iOS7.
After update while my iPhone was connected to the computer, it didn't work and iTunes asked me to restore my iPhone before I can use it.
Well, I had to click Ok and iPhone was restore to factory settings and removed everything.
Now I went to iTunes again to restore the entire backup I created eariler for the photos, videos, contacts and everything 20+GB.
The iTunes starts the restore process but stoppes in the middle of the progress and gives the error:
iTunes could not restore the iPhone"My iPhone Name" because the backup could not be saved on this computer.
I tried 3 times but no avail.
If my C: drive is almost full and it might be the issue, can I move my backup files to another location D: drive for example and restore them to my iPhone?

I get the same issue w/ an iPad that I just updated to the latest iOS. I made the backup before upgrading the iOS. Now when i try to restore that backup made 35 min or so ago, I get this error. Help!

I get a message after IOS6 is downloaded and extracted, to the effect of "could not backup the IPAD2 because the backup could not be saved to this computer." I've tried directly from the IPAD, and by connecting through ITUNES to two separate computgers. Can anyone help? Thank you.

However after part of the Itune update completed a message came up on the screen

Hi. This worked for me after months of trying many different fixes. Give it a shot.
Locate the iTunesPrefs.xml on your PC. In Windows XP the iTunesPrefs.xml location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes
or:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes.
With iTunes closed, I renamed this file from iTunesPrefs.xml to iTunesPrefs.xml.backup in both locations. Then I opened iTunes, connected my iPhone, and the backup was successful.
Note that doing this will force iTunes to recreate the iTunesPrefs.xml file with all it's default settings. Any user preferences you may have set within iTunes will be removed. You will need to set any user defined preferences again.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

I am trying to backup my ipad to my computer. It goes through the process, but then tells me a backup could not be saved on my computer. I have a previous backup on here, so it worked at one time a few months ago. I've got the latest version of iTunes and even uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. Did you try what was suggested on that page i.e. disconnecting the iPad from your computer and turning the iPad off (press and hold the sleep/wake button until the red 'slide to power off' appears on screen and slide that) and then back on ?
And if the backup doesn't work after that then try a soft-reset instead of the off and on : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

To resolve this issue, delete the backup in iTunes Preferences and then create a new backup. If you would like to retain a copy of the backup, you can move the backup file to a different location. The backup is located in the locations below.
On Windows Vista and Windows 7:
\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To delete the backup file:
    Open iTunes Preferences by choosing iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences (Windows).
    Select Devices.
    Select the device backup to delete.
    Click Delete Backup. iTunes will ask if you are sure you want to delete the backup. Click Delete Backup.
    Click OK.
To manually create a new backup, right-click (or Control-click) iPhone on the left side of the iTunes window under Devices and choose Back Up from the shortcut menu.

I have deleted all known uploads of quicktime and itunes and reloaded them...many different versions. Currently i have the 8.0 itunes and 7.2 quicktime because I read the new quicktime wasnt compatible but the problem with that is when I downloaded the new itunes it already comes with quicktime...? where do I start. In the taskmanager it shows itunes as running when I restart the computer before it turns off it shows that itunes.exe is ending...

What version of iOS is the new one running? It may need to be updated before you can restore. You can not restore a backup made with a newer version of iOS to a device running an older version.

I attempted to upgrade my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1.1. I selected 'back up' from the phone in the device menu and iTunes confirmed that the phone had been backed up. I have the same issue and I KNOW my backup IS good. What happen is when you try to restore your phone apple says something like can I check for new updates and if you choose no, it just takes you back to the restore screen and a loop from then on. If you dont update from you phone then when you back up you will have the 5.0.1 back up and then when you update to 5.1.1 and then try to restore the backup from 5.0.1 it say it EITHER corrupt or incompatible.. It is incompatible and its hard as **** to restore back to 5.0.1. I followed the restore to a T and still getting errors. I lost all text history and have to reset up email. All just because I wanted a 1.2 Gigs of "other" space back.

If you are using a USB hub, don't. Connect directly to the computer. Disconnect all other USB devices except for keyboard and mouse.

iTunes told me to delete my backup folder when I was having problems syncing my phone to my computer. After that it wouldn't work at all. My phone is the iPhone4 and my computer is a Windows Vista

I doubt that corrupt files are the problem. It is more likely a space or permissions issue. Is the hard-drive on which iTunes is stored close to capacity? Do you (or the particular user profile you have logged on with) have the requisite permissions to save to that drive?
Otherwise, do you get an error code? This might point us in the right direction.
