Help me reduce 4.4GB of other data

How do i remove the "other" storage on my phone without removing important data, such as Contacts and Photos?

Restore your iphone.
If you are using the iphone as designed, then all of your contacts, photos, etc are on your computer

  • I have a lot of 'other' data on my iPhone 4 summary on iTunes. I looked on the internet it said stuff like you should restore it etc, but i would like to keep all of my data. How do I reduce the amount of 'other' data which is around 3.5 GB

    Hi,
On my macbook pro, I have connected it with my Iphone 4, on the summary it says that I have 3.5 GB of 'other' data, which is bigger than my photos and music. How do I make this smaller without losing all of my data in a restoration. I do not kno what the difference is between a normal restoration and a restoration form back up. Also i have already tried deleting old messsages and book marks but nothing is working. I searched on the internet and it said something about it being corrupted!!
    Please Help!!!!!!
    Thankyou!!!

  • Other file size grow to more then 6GB. Heed help to reduce size.

I have the iphone 3G- 16gb. Recently I noticed that the orange section(Other) has grown to 6gb. I have less then 1gb free space now. How can I reduced this "other" file size and what is this? At first I thought it was the book mark so I got rip all of it but "other remain at 6gb". Any suggestion or help appreciated.

i had the same issue. I had just updated to iTunes 8.2.1. When I synced phone it said phone was synced with another library. IMPOSSIBLE! this is the only computer (iMac) I have ever synced with (or even plugged into.) I went ahead and clicked erase current iphone content and sync. I thought "no problem" as I have everything backed up already.
I got a message saying "Not enough memory for all the music and photos." No new music or photos since last sync a few days ago. Not there is 9 GB of "other" data. How do I erase all the "other data?" Does "restore" really do this? or an app like iStat?
    Any thoughts will help.
    Thanks

i have an iphone 4 and i have upgraded to ios 5. but after upgrading all my apps disappeared and in the summary tab in itunes it jus shows as other data..! please help

When I went to reload my phone it gave the option of restoring with icloud or itunes so i chose itunes (assuming icloud would have many more bugs). Afterwards, I had no music and 6.6g of other.
What I did was go into itunes, clicked my iphone 4, and clicked on each of the top tabs (summery, info, apps, ringtones, music, etc.) and ensured I had them all clicked onto sync/selected playlist etc.As my phone restored, the 6.6g of other dropped to .99g of other.
Unfortunately, all my songs are gone but everything else seems to be in tact. I don't think there is any way around this issue for now with the new ios 5 update when syncing either an ipad or iphone. I have an ipad 2 but am going to hold off on updating it until apple gets the bugs sorted out because, I'm sure you will agree, getting the music back to where you want it to be is a total nightmare and takes ages to not only pick the right songs and artists to put on it, but also the ones that will fit correctly with the space, depending on the size you have.
    I hope that helps.

  • Help Deleting 'Other' Data on iPhone 4

So I recently noticed that anytime I'd try to take a photo on my iPhone 4, it'd say my storage was full, which makes no sense. I don't have many apps, have a lot of music but only 46 photos on my photo roll, and I'm constantly clearing history, and making sure apps are closed in the multitask bar. So, I decided to do a rare sync to iTunes, and it turns out I have over 6 GBs of 'Other' data. That takes roughly half the storage on my iPhone.
After reviewing various posts, I've seen plenty of explanations for what 'Other' constitutes, as well as plenty of solutions for what to do about it. Unfortunately, none of these have worked thus far. However, I'm not sure if I'm doing the restore from new method right, so if anybody could clarify these questions for me that'd be great:
Do I have to restore from new and then not restore from my back-up when prompted on iTunes? I've noticed after I restored the iPhone as new and then restored from the back-up (rather than set it up as a new iPhone) that it will show I have somewhere in the high 400 to low 500 GBs of Other. I'll clap and giggle like a schoolgirl, and then it'll skyrocket back to 6+ GBs as the sync takes place. My clapping and giggling will cease, frustrated grumbling commences.
So do I have to set it up as a brand new iPhone?
Does my back-up itself contain the corrupted data?
If I were to set it up as brand new, does that mean everything like my phone number, contacts, WiFi passwords, email set-up, etc. disappears?
Thanks for your help, really appreciated.
P.S. I have gotten the most recent software updates.

Your phone number is on your Sim card so no it would not be gone. Corrupt data does not go to the cloud. The only thing that the cloud saves are the specific things that you Checked in your set up and that's all that will be there.
I do not back up my phone to the cloud I only have the cloutd set to save specific things.
Again, look in set up under iCloud were you have signed your phone in as an Apple device and see what you've told it to save. I'm not sure exactly what data  you have saved but that is one of the options that you have. Be sure you uncheck data.

How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

It's a little above normal, you can't completely delete others.

  • Other Data  - Restore Doesn't help

I have mutiple ipods.  All of them are being filled up with "other" data when I sync with itunes.  I can restore them - but "other" comes right back.  What do I do?

Maybe, it is old, but I'm having the same problem on 3 newer ipods. 5.3 GB of other on a 7.5 GB nano.  4.6 GB of other on a similar nano.  9.2 GB of other on a 30 GB classic.  We sync an ipad wirelessly, and it only has about 1.5 GB of other. (It also doesn't have as much music on it)  I also get a "can't eject ipod - files in use by another application" message when I try to eject on all of these ipods.  I'm wondering if Spotify may be causing the second problem, but don't think it would be causing the "other".

  • How do I stop the "other" data from growing every time I sync my iPhone?

I recently started putting music on my iPhone 4s, and I found that every time I sync music, the "other" storage keeps growing. This only happens when I sync music. If I don't have music on my iPhone, the "other" doesn't grow. Why is this?? Does anyone know how to make this stop? I had to restore my phone as new to delete the "other" storage (I had almost 3 G on my 8 G iPhone). Because the "other" data takes up so much room, I find it difficult to add everything that I want to on my iPhone (like all of my music). Please help!

    Hello brownielox,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity

Other: Everything else, such as contacts, calendars, messages, emails and their attachments, Safari Offline Reading List, settings, and other system resources.
iOS: "Not enough free space" alert when trying to sync
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1503
    Resolution
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
    Restore using iTunes.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • Deleting other data?

I have an iPhone 5C, with the most recent update, as of this very minute in fact, I have over 2 GB of other data, and would like to know exactly how I get rid of it? I should have 7 GBs of space left, but do not. Please help!

You can't directly delete it but you can reduce it. Other is misc. data and sometimes gets corrupted. If you have not updated to iOS 8.3 yet, do that and you should see a reduction in the amount of other. I went from 1.7 GB to less than 1 GB with the update today. The other way is to restore through iTunes on your computer then reload your most recent backup.

  • Report Builder Wizard and Parameter Creation with values from other data source e.g. data set or views for non-IT users or Business Analysts

    Hi,
"Report Builder is a report authoring environment for business users who prefer to work in the Microsoft Office environment.
You work with one report at a time. You can modify a published report directly from a report server. You can quickly build a report by adding items from the Report Part Gallery provided by report designers from your organization." - As mentioned
    on TechNet.
I wonder how a non-technical business analyst can use Report Builder 3 to create ad-hoc reports/analysis with list of parameters based on other data sets.
Do they need to learn TSQL or how to add and link parameter in Report Builder? then How they can add parameter into a report. Not sure what i am missing from whole idea behind Report builder then?
I have SQL Server 2012 STD and Report Builder 3.0  and want to train non-technical users to create reports as per their need without asking to IT department.
Everything seems simple and working except parameters with list of values e.g. Sales year List, Sales Month List, Gender etc. etc.
So how they can configure parameters based on Other data sets?
Workaround in my mind is to create a report with most of columns and add most frequent parameters based on other data sets and then non-technical user modify that report according to their needs but that way its still restricting users to
    a set of defined reports?
I want functionality like "Excel Power view parameters" into report builder which is driven from source data and which is only available Excel 2013 onward which most of people don't have yet.
So how to use Report Builder. Any other thoughts or workaround or guide me the purpose of Report Builder, please let me know.
    Many thanks and Kind Regards,

If we want to create a parameter depend on another dataset, we can additional create or add the dataset, embedded or shared, that has a query that contains query variables. Then use the option that “Get values from a

  • How do I get rid of the "other" data on my iPhone 4?

The "other" data on my iPhone 4 is currently taking up 4.5 gb of my 6.4 gb phone. As you can see I'm not very happy about this. I am basically limited too about ten apps and I cannot download iOS 7 due to my lack of storage. I was wondering if there were any ways to get rid if the "other" data without resetting my iPhone. I cannot reset my iPhone because my family has a shared data plan and a limited amount of storage to back up to on iCloud. We don't have enough storage on iCloud to backup the 5.8 gb I'm using because of the other data. Any help?

You would need to restore the iphone.

  • Questions on getting "other" data off ipad

I have been reading the threads, but before I do a full restore I have a few questions.
I have about 2GB of "other" space on my 8GB ipad 2 (OS 7 withou the latest patch). I need to get rid of it because I can't load the new OS and I have the ipad down to bare bones.
Anyway, I was reading that "other" could be corrupted data or stuff that apps are using. I got rid of my photos. All I have is apps, and music plus the files I store in pages.
    1. How can I tell which apps are sucking up space?
    2. If I do a restore, will the corrupted data just come back from my MBP onto my ipad? I am backing up to the MBP and also syncing everything in icloud. This is where my brain gets lost because I don't understand where the bad data is being stored.
Any thoughts or hints would be appreciated before I start doing neurosurgery.
    Thanks in advance!
