Help me remove my wife from my App Store!

Okay...I give.
Somehow, my wife's e-mail address and account have infested my App Store (Mac OS X 10.6.8).
* I'm running App Store under my user account on the computer.
* I made sure she was logged out.
* It shows me as logged in.
* I have confirmed and re-updated my settings on the Apple ID website and through the application.
* I am not using the same e-mail address as she is.
* I can log into my App Store account.
* I can log into the iTunes Store using the same information.
* The "Updates" icon shows (8) and, when clicked, lists 8 updates for my wife's account.
* Apps that I want to install on my computer show as "Installed" when I haven't installed them.
* If I choose an app to purchase, a dialog comes down wanting me to log in and shows her e-mail address.
* Replacing it with mine would generate an Unknown Error #4.
* Apple says to make another Apple ID. That would be my third, thanks to an iTunes screwup they can't/won't fix.
* I do not want 1/2 my music in one ID, 1/2 in another, and my Apps in a third. No. No. No.
* No.
* Spotlight ***** at finding "App Store" or "Appstore", finding only the application.
* I deleted the preferences from ~/Library/Preferences, and AppStore from ~/Library/ApplicationSupport.
* I deleted the application.
* I downloaded the 10.6.6 updater.
* It would not run. (Duh, I'm at 10.6.8.)
* I used Pacifist to install the App Store.
* I have restarted somewhere in here.
* I run the App Store. It still lists all of my wife's updates.
* I still cannot download anything she already has through my account.
* I am able to download the FaceTime update.
* It shows as the only thing in my Purchases.
* I quit and re-ran the App Store.
* It STILL shows her updates.
I want to remove my wife's account from my App Store.
Help.
Send c/o the padded room down the hall.

The App Store is scanning the Mac and finding purchased apps in the Applications folder. It then checks against the list and finds that they are old versions and prompts for an update.
All that is required to install an app is a Apple ID and admin rights on the target mac. The apps she is installing are wrapped in DRM which identify her as the owner, but the App Store doesn't care, as she is entitled to install them on your Mac. But it reads her ID from the wrapper and thus prompts for her password to do the update.
I'd personally suggest that just one of you has admin rights and does all the purchasing off the App Store. You could remove all her apps from the mac, but you'd then need to purchase them again to consolidate them into your ID.
Or you could just get her to do the updates!

Apple saw it as their responsibility since the redirection took me to the App Store. They assisted me in stopping the redirection which is occurring on many peoples iPhones. It's a have java script problem that adking is using to get you to buy their games. The websites work normal and then all of the sudden the website is taken over by adking.com.  You can no longer use the website as it immediately takes you to the App Store without ever showing a popup to cancel the redirection. They were very helpful fixing the problem should others experiencing this specifically with adking.com.
No need to get defensive. I'm not the only one experiencing the problem Apple said.

  • How do I remove unwanted updates from the App Store?

How do I remove unwanted updates from the App Store? So you understand better what I'm referring to:
I have the App Store icon in the Dock. When there's an update a red number appears on said icon. Well, I went to check on the updates and it's for 4 different applications I either no longer have or use. One of them is an update for Lion OS users. I'm still on Snow Leopard, so it doesn't even apply to me.
So there they sit... I'm not going to download the updates... so how do I get rid of them?

    Hi Andy ..
    no longer have or use
If there are updates available for apps you have deleted, try this.
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
Move the Cache.db and Updates files from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, restart your Mac.
For any apps you still have installed but do not use, the updates will still be available from the Updates top of the App Store window and show on the red badge on the App Store icon in the Dock.

  • How can I completely remove a game from my app store account?

Ive tried all the different methods I can find of deleting/mark as hidden but I keep getting annoying weekly updates come through. I dont like the game and will never play it but it seems without starting a new Apple ID and losing everything I have paid for on iPhone and Mac Im stuck with a continual App Store badge icon for a game I dont want.

I gave in and installed the update but it still showed as an update. I installed the same update 3 times and it still show as an available update so I gave up. Guess Ill have to put up with it for a few months and hope Mountain Lion has an App Store that works properly.

  • Removing offensive reviews from the App Store

I'm wondering if it is possible to have a review removed if it contains offensive material. I don't care if the rating still affects the "score" of my application but there were comments posted that are not relevant to the application and are patently offensive to the audience of the application.
(Search for DV Awareness and examine the reviews and you'll see what I mean)
Do any of you know if there is any recourse for this situation?
    Thanks!

That's what "Report a Concern" is for, like you asked in your other post.

  • How can I remove the previous owners apple i.d. from my app store?

Just recently, after 8 months of ownership, my App Store has started to cancel my updates in favour of asking the computers previous owner to log into the app store to update. Is there any way I can remove their account from my App Store? It's getting annoying!

Were there apps that the previous owner bought from the Mac App Store on the Mac when you got it? They should have been removed before passing the Mac to you. At this point those are pirated apps and they can only be updated using the previous owners Apple ID. You should remove all of them from the Mac and buy them using your own Apple ID. Probably not what you wanted to hear.

  • All downloads from either app store or icloud keep on freezing. Have tried restart of wifi, ipad, iphone and nothing helps. What can i do?

I keep on getting download problems from both app store as well as from icloud.
I have tried to reinstall some programs but they keep on failing to download.
I have this problem for both my ipad 2 as well as my iphone 5. I currently live in italy and have checked whether i have problems with local router but everything checks out.
I have tried both resetting iphone and ipad, restarting them both etc but nothing helps. Do you know whether there are any issues with app store or icloud in the last 4days.
Thanks for any help on the matter

In case anyone is having the same problem, I thought I'd post an update.  I realized there was an Apple store on my way home from the trip I was leaving for so I decided to stop in.  I waited 20 minutes for the next Genius so I wandered the mall and played with the iPad.  No big deal.  It took less than ten minutes for the person helping me to confirm there was a problem and swap the iPhone for a new one and send me on my way.  I got home, connected it to iTunes and restored from the last backup (after uploading the photos I'd taken since then to my Mobileme account!).  No problem whatsoever.
I'm really glad I decided to go that route instead of taking it to Verizon.
It's been two months and I've not had a single problem since.

  • How do you get an iphone app removed from iTunes App Store?

Angle Bar Solutions Movie Maker app for the iPhone is being miss-sold.
It is advertised as having Time-Lapse capabilities but it does not have these.
When I write a review to warn others the review gets posted before the one saying that all previous reviews are irrelevant as an update has added the functionality.
    There is no update!
    The app cannot do Time-Lapse!
I want a refund and I want Apple to remove the app from iTunes App Store.
    Please help.

I would email iTunes Customer Service:

  • I have 1 iMac, two users (myself and my wife), 2 different Apple ID's, and I want to buy Pages from the App Store so we both can use. Is this possible without having to buy it twice?

I am wanting to purchase the Pages app from the App Store. I do not want to purchase it 2 times, once for me, and again for my wife. We both share the same iMac, and we both use seperate Apple ID's. Is there a way to purchase it under my user, and have it download to her user as well? I have searched all over the forums for a cut and dry answer to this, to no avail. Any help in the matter would be appreciated, as I am a newbie on the Mac.

No. You need to buy it for your Apple ID and for the other. You will have problems with updates

    Hi, Hugo,
In similar cases it helped to remove the GarageBand "Preferences" file from the User Library.
    Open the folder
your home folder > Library > Preferences
and move the file "com.apple.garageband.plist" to the Desktop.
Then try again to launch GarageBand.

  • I have an app in my app store that is requiring an update but I never purchased the app and when I click update, another apple ID pops up that is not mine.  Now i keep getting reminders to update the app and I cant get rid of it from the app store.  Help.

I have an app in my app store that is requiring an update but I never purchased the app and when I click update, another apple ID pops up that is not mine.  Now i keep getting reminders to update the app and I cant get rid of it from the app store.  Help.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store notice. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
In the Finder, press the key combination command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu initially showing Kind. From that menu, select  Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test.

  • I can't purchased anything from the App store..... HELP ME

I can't purchased anything from the App store, it keeps telling that there is a problem with the previous purchased and when I tried to re-enter the information , this message keep showing " your payment method was declined please use valid method" even though I've used it before . what can I do ? could anyone please help me?
    Thanks

Either that or you can just buy an iTunes card and put it on the account. I've have itunes account for a long time so maybe this plays a part in it but I don't have a CC tied to my account. I have the option to choose "none" and that's what I have it as. I used to have a card on there years ago but I removed it and never had to have another on it. Any purchases I make come from iTunes credits (iTunes card or credits I got from redeeming rewards).
