Help me save my ibook!

Ok heres the story. When i bought it i chose to use 9.2 instead of 10.2 but was able to switch it inbetween. a couple of years later I bought a DVD RW and when installing software it told me to change to 10.2. in doing so something happened and all I get now is a warning in lots of languages telling me to restart. tried to re-boot, run disc first aid but all it does is spit the cd draw out and go back to the restart screen. I dont care if I have to erase and install and lose all my work i just want to be able to get to that point! any ideas!!

Yes. RAM that has gone bad is one of the foremost causes of kernel panics, so removing it is a good first step in troubleshooting kernel panics.

First make sure all windows update components are installed prior to installing any third party software. Then -
Have you installed Apple Application Support - it is a required framework for iTunes (and Quicktime).
All elements of Apple software work best with Admin usermode installation. New itunes versions should definitley be rebooted prior to first use. if you install Apple software support - make sure you only have the option to notify you of updates pending - this package can install many elements not specific to your requirement and some which may have no use for you whatsoever. However run it at least once before using iTunes as it manages updates to programs already detected as installed.
There are some cases known where, on installation being finished and rebooting - the apple Application support service fails to install in automatic startup mode - this normally occurs when using a normal user account with admin elevation enabled. this is not the same as Admin mode though and will not always guarantee that kernel drivers will be correctly set in the registry for startup. Use Administrator account for Apple installations.
Some Antivirus programs will block installations of kernel drivers (itunes required) by default, or set themto manual start 9the installation is allowed because iunes is the permission set for the installation - the antivirus program will prevent suspicious activity (kernelmode installers) whilst allowing the parent process to complete - if your iTunes installation fails - uninstall, reboot, switch to admin user, suspend your antivirus program, including any system or application running watch it runs if it is an included element - then re-install itunes. When finished, type Services.msc in the Start search box and check that related services are all set to start Automatically. Reboot when finished.
Unless you try to install an x86 on a x64 required program directory this should solve your problem.

Help Cannot Save As File

I'm a brand new InDesign user. Have had one class and am expected to do all types of collateral here at work. I've opened files, started designing but when I click Save As, the whole thing freezes up. The only way out is to cancel through the task manager. I have InDesign CS3 running on Microsoft XP. The same thing happens if I try Save As in Photoshop. I am not going to be very effective if I cannot save my work. I am in marketing and not a techie. So if any one could help me without having to know a tremendous amount about program set up it would be greatly appreciated.

PDFs won't save in iBooks

I used to be able to open in iBooks and my PDFs would save into iBooks. It was a great system. It appears ios5 has created issues with this. I try at least 4-5 times per PDF and it still doesn't work. It for a split second appears to work then it disappears. I have rebooted and restarted but still doesn't work. I am saving PDFs to kindle currently which over comes the problem however I want my iBooks back.

Sorry to hear that the problem is back.
I don't know if you have a problematic pdf file causing the issue, an app conflict, iBooks just can't handle the load - or who knows whatever at this point.
I don't know what else to try except to go back to the basics. Why don't you close apps and restart - if you haven't tried this already. You shouldn't have to close apps at all - unless of course one of your apps is wreaking havoc for some reason with iBooks. See if that makes any difference.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

While trying to import pictures from iPhone to iTunes, iTunes request to make software update and then to restore iPhone. I have cancelled the restore to rpotect pictures. The pictures have not been imported yet, but the iPhone display freezed at ITune connection page. Please help me save pictures and use the iPhone as usual. Restarting of the phone did not work so far.

Please Help: Cannot open Energy Saver on iBook

When I click on the Energy Saver preference pane on my iBook (dual USB) G3 (running OS 10.3.9, with a 20 GB hard drive with 13 GB of space left), I get the message "Preferences Error, Could not load Energy Saver." This just suddenly started happening a couple of days ago.
I have searched this forum as well as Google and have found no information about this problem. After I opened Disk Utility while booted from my external hard drive, I ran First Aid and Repair Permissions on the iBook. No change in the problem with Energy Saver.
Here are the additional steps I've taken:
1. As a test, I created a new user account and logged in under that account. Still got the same message when trying to open Energy Saver.
2. I attached my iBook to my iMac G5 via firewire cable and booted my iBook into target disk mode. Then I ran Disk Warrior and TechTool Pro on the iBook. Both programs gave the iBook a clean bill of health.
3. Via the Find command, I searched my hard drive for any files with "energy" in the title. No hits.
4. I went to my ~/Library/Preferences Folder and found the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file. Removed that file, restarted the iBook. Still could not access Energy Saver.
5. I put the System Preferences application into a folder called Sys Prefs Old. Dragged the System Preferences application from my iMac into the Applications folder on my iBook. Opened this new System Preferences application. Clicked on Energy Saver pane. Still got the message "Could not load energy saver."
6. Inserted OS X 10.3 install disc into iBook. Used Pacifist to re-install just the System Preferences application. The application was an older version than the one that had been giving me problems. Opened this application and clicked on Energy Saver pane. Still got the message "Could not load energy saver."
I'm at my wit's end. I can no longer change any of my energy settings on my iBook. If anyone can make a suggestion, I would certainly appreciate it. If your suggestion has to do with using Terminal, please talk me through it in baby talk because I've never used Terminal.

It may help to look in your log files to find out why your applications are quitting.
The simplest way to look at log files is to use Console.
Open the Console application from /Applications/Utilities. It will default to showing the "console.log" and possibly the "system.log". Use the File menu if necessary to get both these logs open, and use the Broom to Clear both windows.
Now try to open the Energy Saver preference pane and see what appears in either of these windows. Copy and paste it here.
You may see a message saying "Crash report written to <pathname of crash.log>". Click on the "Logs" icon at the top left in the tool bar. Then, depending on the <pathname of crash.log> in your message, look under either ~/Library/Logs or /Library/Logs by clicking the disclosure triangle, then click the disclosure triangle for "CrashReporter".
Find the crash log corresponding to your message and select it. It will open at the end of the log. Look back for the last line of asterisks in the log, then post everything after that to the end of the log.

Yes this is very easy. Just go into Finder and Press Shift+Command+G and Paste this in there
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBooks/Books
Those folders are actually the books, they just dont look like them.

Help with save as

I have a fillable form we use everyday when people go to save the form they do not clear out the file name that is already there (the master file name) and they just save it to the file name that is there already. So the next time we go open the form to fill it out it already has things saved since they didnt save it as another file name. is there anyway when we go to save as the filename can be blank so they will not override the master form?

How can I help Flash save progress of a game as normal?

I only discovered Isoball 3 a few days ago but I have had a lot of problems making it, Flash, or whatever does the saving save my progress.
I have tried on [url]www.gimme5games.com[/url], and also Facebook but I do not think any of the Facebook Isoball 3 apps have officially anything to do with the developers, so more recently I have been playing on [url]www.candyflame.com/isoball3/[/url] which does.
Initially I assumed the problem was my web browser, Firefox 3.6.16 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US) as I may have edited some cache settings to improve performance or security, but it seems I have the same problems using Google Chrome.
The screenshots included of Firefox's about:config, network offline storage settings, and Flash settings were all taken after completing level 6, and right clicking > settings > storage shows 2kb used of a possible 100kb.
The problem is that even if I play up to level 36 or 46, it will always put me back to level 6 which is where, for some reason, the software believes I have progressed to. Interestingly it is saving my progress somewhat as it maintains my level scores and otherwise it would put me back to level 1.
Please note it is possible, on starting a new game, to skip basic levels, starting at either 06, 11, 16, 21, but not further than that. This is inconsequential to my issue.
I have contacted the developers and they have told me that they are aware of this problem occurring for some linux users, but are at a loss as to why.
If you can help please let me know.

Hi, I don't play any games, etc but I thot you could put certain websites in a "trusted zone" in the Settings Panels. Then increase the Storage. Is the game asking for more storage?

Need Help With Save As function Very Important

i working on a project and i have to create a Save As function for it. When you click on Save As its supposed to open a dialog window where u can choose the where you would like to save the file and what you would like to name it. Urgent help to save a waveform as jpeg to a specifi folder on my pc

I'm practically very new to labview and maybe even to the forum that I might be posting this question in the wrong place (sorry about that).
I need urgent help on the following issue (prob. a very easey one)
here is a picture copy of one portion of my vi:
I'm able to save the data in text format, no problem there. it saves the dat file into C/NLdat folder. this is ok.
I also want to save the waveform chart into same folder NLdat. I did the right click on "waveform > create invoke node> get image" but doing this is not saving my jpeg anywhere. could you please show me step by step how to save it (what type of things I need to use specifically, as I feel like a idiot now)

You also need to make sure that getting the image happens after the xy-graph has been updated. Currently both things happen in parallel and there is no guarantee what happens first. there is a 50% chance that the image contains stale data.

I couldn't run your VI as i dont have all the components of it. But i have attached herewith a vi which will show you how to save continuously acquired data into a text file. The explanations are added on the block digaram. Let me know if this doesn't help and you need more information.
