Help me troubleshoot my CalDAV Calendar

Hello. I have a Synology NAS which hosts my personal email server and calendar (CalDAV) server. I have connected to the CalDAV server with my other devices (2 Windows and 2 Linux computers running Thunderbird/Lightning; Apple iPod touch). My Z10 connects with the email server OK, but I cannot get it to connect with the CalDAV server.
I am trying to set up under Accounts; Advanced; CalDAV. Under "Description" I am putting my name; "Username" is my account name on the Synology server; "Email Address" is my email on the Synology server; "Password" is my correct password for the account (verified); "Server Address" is the full https://mydomainname.synology.me:5006/Folder/Calendarname. I select a 30 minute sync interval.
I first get a message saying that "this email provider may not be trustworthy", which is to be expected since I use a self-signed security certificate. Then I get the message: "Your account Eric -  Calendar - [email protected] username cannot be authenticated with your service provider. Please make sure that the account settings are correct.
I have tried many variations of this, but I always end up at the same point. If I drop something from the address I get the message "Could not connect to your server" which tells me that I am indeed getting through, but there is something with the handshake that my BlackBerry just does not like. I have no idea what it is; as I said, my iPod touch and Thunderbird/Lightning all connected on the very first try.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can resolve this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated----Eric.

  • ICal no longer displays caldav calendar but it's still there...

I find myself to have a strange problem... iCal no longer display a caldav calendar (which is my work exchange calendar via davmail app). But, it still appears to be there. In iTunes it is still listed in the calendars which can be synchronized with my iPhone. In fact, it is still synchronizing with my iPhone and up to date. If I add a new identical caldav calender in iCal, iCal only displays one calendar, as if there are no more, but in iTunes then two identical calendars are listed and on my iPhone all events are displayed double...
Any suggestion to get my calendar displayed in iCal again, or alternatively, how to remove the hidden agenda from the system so that I can resetup the calendar? By the way, I also have an MobileMe calendar running.
I look forward to receiving some hints as I am not yet able to solve this one.
    Cheers!

Problem solved by myself Rebuild the calendar database by exporting the ical archive and then importing it. After that the hidden agenda was gone in Itunes. After a fresh set up of the caldav calendar in iCal it was back in iCal and iTunes. The mysterious ghost agenda is gone. Hope that this explanation may help someone else in the future.

  • IPhone 4s upgraded to iOS7 and I´m able to enter a new caldav calendar but I can´t find the calendar anywhere and the schedules are not in the calendar. The caldav server have been working on the iOS 6.1.3 efore very well! Any suggestions?

    Hello,
I tried to enter a caldav calendar to my iPhone 4s.
The same server and the same calendar have been working well tihin iOS 6.1.7.
But now on iOS 7 the caldav server and account is confirmed but don´t appear in the calendar so the schedules are also not shown in the calendar app.
Can anyone confirm that or has some suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Chris

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I have tried as you suggested, and when opening the "purchased" apps some have the icloud logo next to them, but I only have "OPEN" against "Find My iPhone". When opening it up, it goes through the same routine; needs to be updated before proceeding, and wouldn't update because I don't have IOS8.
Anything else I could try, or am I doomed!
All of your help is much appreciated, thanks

  • Recurring appointment not updating correctly with caldav calendar

I use iCal for my family's calendar. I sync this calendar to my online caldav calendar at godaddy.com. I have a 9-month weekly recurring teaching appointment in my calendar. In each month, there is at least one date that I do not need to teach, so I am trying to delete the event on that date. When I delete it in iCal for Sept 2010 and Oct 2010, it syncs bidirectionally to the web interface and removes the event from both iCal and my online calendar. However, when I try to delete the date from Nov 2010 and forward, it will not sync to the web interface, and about 15 seconds later when my iCal refreshes, the event comes back to my iCal calendar. Can anyone help me with this? I have called Go Daddy, and they say it is an iCal issue.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
    If the issue persists:
1.) Delete the GoDaddy calendar from iCal > Preferences > Accounts
    2.) Re-add the GoDaddy calendar
    If the issue persists:
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running re-add the GoDaddy account to iCal > Preferences > Accounts and test.
    Hope that helps.

  • Only 2 out of 7 CalDAV calendars sync to iPhone

    Hello all,
I am trying to host CalDAV calendars on my own LAN. I downloaded and installed Apple Server, got a certificate, and enabled push notifications in the Server application Calendar pane. Then I exported all of the calendars on my machine to .ics files, and imported them onto the server. There are 9 different calendars. They all show up in the Calendar apps on the 4 computers at home, and events added on one computer show up on the others as expected. We have 3 iPhones in the family. After adding the CalDAV accounts on the iPhones, only 2 of the 9 CalDAV calendars show up on the iPhones. The same 2 calendars show up on all the phones, and the same 7 calendars are missing on all the phones. When I touch "Calendar" at the bottom of the screen in the Calendar app on the phone, the names of all 9 calendars are visible, with check marks next to them indicating that they should be visible in the calendar, but no events on those 7 missing calendars show up. I've tried altering the push/fetch settings in the iPhone preferences to no avail.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Spalding

Close iPhoto and open your iPhoto Library package with the Finder as shown in this screenshot,
Locate and move the iPod Photo Cache folder to the Desktop.  (Do no make any other changes to the contents of the package!)
Launch iPhoto and try syncing again.

  • Force CalDAV calendar in iCal to send meeting invites via Mail

A handful of people are experiencing issues sending out meeting invite emails via a Google Apps (CalDAV) calendar that is setup in iCal. Meetings are showing up on invitees calendars, but they are not receiving email notifications about them.
Thread on that topic here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=368ec40a6bdd7bb8&hl=en
    and here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2707217&tstart=0
*So, my question is this*: Is there a way to force Mail.app to send out a meeting invitation of a CalDAV calendar that is setup in iCal, instead of using whatever system the CalDAV calendar uses (in my specific case, Google Apps). My assumption is that iCal uses the Mail.applescript or Mail.scpt file that is inside the iCal package (iCal > Show Package Contents > Resources > Mail.applescript) when sending out an invite from a local calendar. Any way to force a CalDAV calendar to use that script?

    I had that problem too.
I changed my mail preferences "Add invitations to iCal" from Automatically to Never and that seems to work for me.
    Hope that helps

  • CalDAV Calendars are Read-Only?

When trying to add a CalDAV calendar (Google Calendar in this case), the end result is that it is a read-only calendar.
I can not add/edit/delete anything from the calendar and even the edit option for the events doesn't even show up.
Does anyone here have a Google Calendar CalDAV calendar account that is read/write? This includes both the primary calendar and shared calendars (manually added as separate accounts).
NOTE: Please do not suggest ActiveSync. That is not working for some people anymore and is no longer a viable alternative. We need to figure out this CalDAV business at some point.

Same issue for me. The Knowledge Base notes the issue, but has no resolution yet: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB33470
I thought I would use iCloud instead, but ran into this: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB33729

  • ICal & Entourage Woes with CalDav calendars

    Hello all.
I am having an issue with calendar events from Entourage. The issue is, when I am in iCal, viewing my entourage calendar, I cannot move entourage calendar events to my caldav calendar.
Theres a catch to this. The events I am trying to move are organized by someone else. If I duplicate that event, I can then move the event to a local calendar, but not to my caldav calendars.
    Assume a few things here:
Create new entourage event, in entourage, and in iCal I can move that event anywhere.
Have full access to edit CalDav calendars set up on my machine.
If anyone has any insight how to fix this problem I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks!

well I am officially considering these forums to be dead ends. Anyone have some tips on good forums for apple questions? A forum where people actually respond?
    thanks,

  • CALDAV, Calendar sync

    Hello,
I would like to sync my N5800 with an shared/online iCal calendar using CALDAV.
I used to sync my iCal using CalGoo to GCal to sync to my phone. But since we switched for a network iCal at work, that solution is no longer available since there are no more local .ics files. Anyways, if I can leave GCal aside, I wouldn't mind.
I also tried OVI, but that seems to be a pure backup solution.
Is it really possible that Nokia can't sync using CALDAV yet?
Is there no application that can provide a simple sync feature with an online iCal/CALDAV calendar?
I really don't want to get an iPhone. But it seems to be the only solution. Is that really possible?
    Thanks for your ideas....

I'm still looking for CALDAV support on Nokia (Symbian OS), but to no avail.
However, there is a blog saying about this possibility: http://developer.symbian.org/wiki/index.php/CalDav, I'm checking on it.

  • Autosync CalDAV calendars on Mac OS X login?

    Hi guys,
I have just setup my own CalDAV server (it's the Apple calendarserver on Ubuntu 8.10). Works fine with iCal and Thunderbird/Lightning. I have one question concerning iCal on my Macs:
Is it somehow possible to autosync my CalDAV calendars upon login into Mac OS X?
The reason I am asking is the following:
When I use local calendars in iCal (i.e. non-remote calendars like CalDAV or WebDAV based ones) I do not have to explicitly start iCal after I have logged into Mac OS X for reminders to pop-up.
If I want reminders of CalDAV calendars to pop-up, I do have to explicitly start iCal (I guess so that iCal syncs with the CalDAV server and get new appointments/reminders).
An example: My MacBook is turned off. On my iMac I create a new appointment with a reminder in - let's say - 5 minutes from now on. iCal syncs this appointment to the CalDAV server. Now I turn on my MacBook and log into Mac OS X. I *do not* start iCal and wait for the 5 minutes to pass. On my iMac the reminder pops-up, the MacBook remains "silent". If I - on the other hand - start iCal on my MacBook after log-in, iCal syncs, gets the appointment and both - iMac and MacBook - remind me simultaneously.
What I want is, that the "syncing part of iCal" starts up upon log-in, so that I do not have to startup the whole iCal app.
    Any hints?
    Thanks
    Kai

  • Work around for 1 year search limit on CalDAV calendars?

By researching a couple of forums and doing some of my own testing I seem to have confirmed that if a calendar on an iOS device is synced "over the air" (CalDAV) then Calendar and Spotlight search will only look 12 months into the past - regardless of how many months/years of calendar data is actually synced.
If a calendar is synced via iTunes this limitation does not seem to apply.
Accepting that this is the case, my query is what is the least onerous way to:
    a) Be able to search 2-3 years into the past and
    b) Have additions/changes that are made on the iPhone/iPad immediately sync into the cloud server
The specific scenario I have (for a client) involves Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 PC syncing over the air using iCloud.
My first thought is to maintain a separate calendar in Outlook for items more than (say) 11 months old. Have that calendar sync via iTunes - on the premise that it it is unlikely to change very often. Then once a month (say) manually move the 11-12 month old items from the CalDAV calendar to the iTunes calendar.
My second thought is to simply sync the same calendar both over the air and via iTunes and live with the duplicate entries.
Does anybody have ideas that are slightly more sophisticated and/or elegant than this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Graham

That's a bit sketchy. There's a much simpler way around the Volume Limitation. That's removing it. Just set the Volume Limit to its maximum, and it's virtually gone.

  • CalDAV calendars won't disappear

I have had to do a lot of testing of calDAV calendars.  Now when I access the claendars list on my iPhone I have an interminable list of duplicate calDAV calendars and I can't find any means of getting rid of them. This has not been an issue.  Would anyone have any idea of how to bet rid of them?

Am I really the only person to have this problem?  Upgrading to iOS 5 has done nothing to resolve this.

  • CalDAV calendars sync as read-only

    Hi!
I have a CalDAV calendar in iCal (Leopard 10.5.4) and can read-write-delete in iCal just fine. It syncs over to my iPod Touch, but as a read-only calendar--as if it were something I subscribed to. Is there a way around this? I imagine the same thing would happen on an iPhone.
    Thanks!
    Corey

Not to get off topic--but let's keep this to syncing CalDAV calendars to the iPod Touch and not a wish list of other features.
I'm still trying to find out if this is possible--having a CalDAV calendar sync to the iPod Touch as a read-write calendar.
Anyone else with some relevant feedback?
    Thanks!

  • Is it possible to sync CalDAV calendars with older iPods?

I am reposting from the "Older iPods" list, on which I did not get much feedback.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15171363#15171363
Basically, since I upgraded to the new MobileMe calendars, which use CalDAV instead of being local calendars, I can no longer view them on my iPod Mini. The .ics files that iTunes puts in the iPod's Calendars/ folder are empty.
So, is this a fixable problem on my side, or is this feature just non-existent?...
Thanks in advance for your insights

I have written the following Python 2.6 script that exports all CalDAV calendars to the iPod. I have only tested it with iCal 4.0.4 (1395.7) and an iPod mini (software version 1.4.1), on Mac OS 10.6.7.
