Pleuse my friends help me !!
Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8GHz (second generation model M9454)
what is this with my Mac G5 ? what a horror movie !!
Mac work nice turn on nice i work well with no problems when i turn off Mac everithing normal
when i turn up again he doest turn on
if i disconect from electrecity and wait 1 hour or last he turn on again
if i dont disconect from energy from cable electrecity e dont turn on.
what is this ???

here's what i did (with suggestion from the guy at KC apple store who went to the back to ask a techie...last resort was to bring my G5 in for service):
I pushed the power button while holding my mouse in the "click" position. This opens the DVD drive.
I inserted the Mac OSX Tiger dvd install disk. I pushed the door closed. Nothing happened. I held down the power button until G5 shut off.
I pressed power button and held down "c" on the keyboard while the computer came to life. It took 20 seconds or so, but eventually the screen went royal blue and then came up with a dialogue box to re-install mac osx. I went through the steps and clicked "options" in order to archive user system preferences and user files for resortation later after the OS install.
The install failed after going through the "verifying volume" steps for about ten minutes. It asked me if I'd like to restart. I clicked "restart". I thought I'd try one more time.
However...the bugger fully booted up and I logged in.
Go figure. 48 hours later I am typing to you from my G5 and software update says I'm up to date. shoulders shrugging

What's This? Help in Webhelp?

I'm in the process of bringing a FrameMaker book through
RoboHelp. The FrameMaker book is basically an instruction manual /
user guide for a software program. Previously, this software has
utilized your basic HTML Help, compiled with an HTML Help editor,
and utilizing "What's This?" field level context sensitive help.
Going through RoboHelp documentation, I've seen many references
that "field-level help is not available in WebHelp, only in HTML
Help". Is there a way to get the same type of context-sensitive
help in WebHelp? I have my RoboHelp project all lined up and ready
to go, with all the necessary topics assigned to Map ID's. Will the
developer of the software simply be able to take these Map ID's,
call them out in his source code wherever needed (as was done
previously for What's This? help)? Or will he not be able to do
that, and the best we can get in WebHelp is window-level context
sensitive help?
I'm fairly new to both FrameMaker and RoboHelp, and have
learned mostly through experimenting and going through the product
documentation, so in my case the simplest explanation of the
process of getting What's This? Help in WebHelp will be the best!

Thanks, Colum. Unfortunately, the website you referred me to
is coming up "page cannot be displayed". I tried the main page as
well, www.grainge.org, and even tried just going through google,
and it's the same issue. Perhaps the site is down, or my company is
blocking it for some unknown reason....

Does "What's This?" Help still exist?

Does anyone know whether RoboHelp 7 still includes "What's
This?" Help for creating context-sensitive help? In RoboHelp Office
X5, this application was called Whatsths.exe. I will upgrade my
license if it's still there.

Excellent. I do use it to create dialog help, but what I like
most is its reports of what's new and changed in the dialogs. It
communicates a whole lot better than our software engineers!

It means that it cannot locate the operating system.
You need to reinstall from the disks that came with the iMac and which the vendor is required to give you.

Importing What's This? Help

I just upgraded from X3 to 6. Trying to import the What's
This? context help, but it's expecting a Context.txt file. My old
version has a Context.rtf file. I might be able to reformat the rtf
file... does anyone know the format or can you suggest
anything?

The Mac is waking up randomly and always showing this errorcode. The keyboard is showing a flashing green LED while the mac awakes.
What is this? Anybody familiar with this error?

This is for a Mac that won't sleep.
Here is Apple's KB article HT1776 with their tips.
Mine follow;
USB devices and hubs often cause Macs to not sleep or wake quickly from sleep (notably HP printers and scanners, HP all in ones, and Cannon scanners). Disconnect all USB except for keyboard and mouse and try. If it sleeps, add one back at a time testing after each one to find the culprit.
If you've set your Mac to receive faxes, it may not be able to sleep. It might also have a damaged preferences file.
If you use your Mac for faxing, open System Preferences. click Print & Fax, click the Faxing tab, and uncheck the Receive Faxes On This Computer box.
If that doesn't work or you've never faxed on your Mac, go to Finder/Hard Drive /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and com..apple.AutoWake.plist files (if your Mac asks, type your admin. password).
If the latter file isn't present in the folder, go to user name(probably your name)/Library/Preferences, delete the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file, and reboot your Mac.

By default it gave itself permission to wake up the computer to check if a backup was needed. Do you have this or a similar program installed which has scheduled activities including wake-up permissions as an option?"
Dave Hamilton provided this link, xlr8yourmac.com, to a member, which addresses failure of deep sleep with some users that updated and added new FireWire and USB card.
Also, here is Apple KB article TA2469 about PCI cards and sleep.
tomhorvat adds this; After few days of messing around I found out that I had desktop background (wallpaper) set to change every 1 minute.
After unchecking "Change picture..." in system preferences (under Desktop/Screen saver), my powerbook went to sleep all by itself.
Tristan Currier noticed this; "I have a Canon printer(shared) and my imac would not sleep. I opened up printer/fax in system prefs and noticed it said the printer was in use when it was off. Opened up the printer queue and noticed about 7 pending documents. Deleted them all and now it sleeps.
Check the printer queue!"
Allan Jones says "sometimes there is Network activity: launch System Preferences > Energy Saver > "Options" tab and uncheck "Wake for Ethernet network administrator access."

You may have installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Help with itunes "whats on this ipad" not showing up - help

Hi! When I plug in my ipad or ipod to my computer and open itunes, itunes recognizes them, BUT the "what's on this ipad/ipod" doesn't show up so I cannot manage my music...thoughts? Everything is updated, my cords are good? Help!

It should be able to copy any photos that you have in the Photos app - it sees all the albums and the photos that I've synced from my computer, as well as the photos that I've taken with the iPad and copied to via the camera kit and saved from emails.
When you open the app you should be given a URL to type in on a browser on your computer - that should then allow you to select an album, and then one or more photos within that album to copy to your computer

MMS turned on? Settings>Messages>SMS/MMS>MMS Messaging>On. If MMS is turned on, can you send/receive SMS's? If so, contact your carrier. 99.9% of the time, if MMS is turned on & you can send/receive SMS's, the problem rests with your carrier. Either MMS is not provisioned properly on your account, or not provisioned at all.

Diskimages-helper keeps crashing - what is this?

Have been trying to use the new Backup 3.0 program, but whenever I perform a backup, diskimages-helper crashes and the backup stops with an error about not being able to create the archive (this is on any type of disk - idisk, firewire etc)
In the console you can see that the diskimages-helper crash must be responsible for the Backup 3.0 error as it happens every time I try and run a backup.
Anyone have any info on this resource and possible issues in 10.4.2. I ran AppleJack just now and it reported the boot drive was fine. I have repaired permissions etc...

If you haven't got the current version of iTunes installed in your computer then download and install it (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) , and you should then be able to reset your iPad and restore/resync your content to it.

"Searching for movie datafile in tmpmov.mov" , what is this? HELP!

Made a movie in iMovie and imported it to iDVD. In iDVD did all the scene selections and titles then burned it. It will skip and/or stop playing in the DVD player. Playing it on the computer I get the above error message.

I'm not sure if this is a media issue or a content issue. Let's narrow it down a bit. Have you attempted to make a disc image to the desktop from the file menu in iDvd? Like this ....

Once you have the disc image on the desktop then use apple's dvd player app. Assuming it plays as expected, then we can rule out media issues. If it plays fine then burn the image to Verbatim dvd-r at 4x or slower.
