Help Me with A Re-Install. Big Mess. Please....

I have an iBook G4 that will no longer 'grab' a CD or DVD.
In the meantime, I accidentally erased my Utilities folder from the same machine. (ugh!).
Sooo..since I can't reinstall anything from the disc (since it won't take a disc)
can I install the disc (Power PC G4 Tiger) into my Mac Mini (Intel) and then connect the two machines?
I was hoping I could do this and then just copy over what I need from the disc being read on the Mini, to the iBook.
Should I just use the Mini install DVD? Or should I copy from the iBook install DVD.
Confused and needing assistance....THANKS!

the problem with that is, ones an iBook, ones a G4 Tower and ones a Mac Mini Intel, all different versions of software/hardware combo soooo..theoretically i wouldnt be to certain of it to work.
The only way i could potentially see it working is if you installed it with one of the other macs with an external drive and then zeroed out the iBook and hooked up the harddrive that way and did a disk image of that drive. but then again Iam not 100% certain that is also a possibility.
otherwise i think the best bet and most reliable would to find an external dvd drive. wther you know someone who you can borrow one from or purchase one on your own? sorry for the redundancy but ill ry to think of other ways as ihavent personally done it myself, but just suggesting ways i would do in a situation like that.
One other thing is, was it a firmware issue with your optical drive? or was it software related? i noticed you said your disk utility folder has beendeleted?
what about flashing the firmware or resetting pram/smc? inside the battery slot? im not 100% sur ehow the ibooks work but maybe it needs a flash or reset to get it back on track?

When I run the iTunes64setup.exe it says: "The thingy is not a valid win32 application."
That generally indicates that the installer has been getting damaged on the download.
What web browser have you been using for downloading the iTunes64Setup.exe? Does it make any difference if you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa)?

Help Needed with BAM Cluster Install - Going to production this week

For our production system we plan on having a two node active/passive Windows 2003 server cluster for BAM. My first attempt at installation was not successful, and I'd like clarification/advice from anyone who has been through a clustered BAM install.
Each node has a local C: and E: drive. Each node also has access to a Q: and R: drive when it is the active node in the Windows cluster.
The BAM installation guide says to do the install (with the ADC cluster component selected) on each node. It then says later to make sure that the ADC directories are installed on the shared drives before running cluster.exe and configuring the clustered ADC service.
I installed BAM to each node on the node's local E: drive. Then I realized that there is no way to tell BAM (at least I could not find a config file that specified it) where to put the ADC cache files! I pressed ahead anyhow, running cluster.ex, but needless to say in the end the service would not come up on any cluster node.
The next thing I tried was to evict node2 from the cluster so I had a single node cluster. I then removed BAM from the remaining node and reinstalled it to the shared R: drive. The install completed OK but I still could not get the clustered service to start.
In the process of all of this, somehow something has corrupted the cluster so that the nodes can no longer obtain the Cluster IP and Cluster Name. I also found out that they had issues with the IIS install on one of the nodes as well. At this point I have asked our system administrators to re-image both boxes and re-cluster them.
My question is: Can anyone outline the steps to installin BAM on a two node cluster?
Specifically, does each install go to the shared drive (have one node down install to the active node's shared drive and then switch and do the install on the second node with it pointing to the shared drive) or is there some other way to point the ADC service to the shared drive for it's directories?
ANY help would be appreciated!

Case Sonata II 450 watt, MSI 915G Neo2 Platinum, P4 3.4 650 LGA775, 2x512 ddr2 5300 (cruical) Maxtor 200gig sata hd, Sapphire x800, NEC 3540, Sony DVD rom & floppy. My machine runs very stable, 1st problem however on start up I get 3 bleeps can anyone tell me what this means. I have tried looking in the manual but cannot find any reference. The usb dongle that came with the mb is installed & the are 4 green lights on. 2nd problem if I try to load the digi cell software this causes the pc to freeze were I have to switch off at the wall. Thank you for the help.
I have now installed a new mb & I am still getting the 3 beeps. I have ran memtest & the ram passed does anyone have any other idea's.

I need some help, preferably a summarized point list of how to install Oracle 8i and Oracle 9iAS to run WebDB (Portal). Is it required that I need some patches from Oracle?

Hi! Here are some of the things that you need to do, in order to Install Portal.
Questions you should ask yourself before installing Portal:
1: Do you already have a Database to Start with. Oracle Portal Successfully installs on only Supports Enterprise Editions of Oracle 8.1.6 Edition and 8.1.7 (Both Standard and Enterprise Editions)
2. If you already have a Oracle 8i Database, remember your sys password, as this is needed to install Oracle Portal. The database Listener(TNS Listener) should be up and running before installing Oracle Portal.
3. If your Oracle 8i HTTP Listener( Which is Apache Server Listener which comes by default with every Oracle 8i installation) is Running, PLEASE SHUT THAT OFF OR CHANGE THE SETTING TO MANUAL MODE, or Remove that from the Services Directory, Since, this is just a Basic Apache Server which does not have any of the Pl/sql gateway's and/or other Gateway settings that are required for Installing Oracle Portal.
4. If you have Oracle 8i Database, Increase the Following Settings to the below mentioned limits in your ini<SID>.ora file
large_pool_size =60000000
java_pool_size = 5000000
shared_pool_size=6000000
Space of "USERS" Table Space =200MB
Space of "TEMP" Table Space =200MB
Space of "SYSTEM" Table Space="600MB"
Shut Down the Instance and Restart the instance in a Normal mode.
5: Install Oracle IAS on a seperate Directory or Home than the Oracle 8i Home.
6. Now you are ready to use Portal30 Configuration Assistent.
Start the Configuration Assistent, Follow through the Steps and you should be able to install successfully.
A Couple of Hints.
Make sure the Computer Name you are installing Oracle Portal on is in Lower Case.
Usually the installation takes a Couple of Hours depending upon your processor Speed and Memory available.
Please check to See if there are any Errors in the Installation Logs.
Check on Technet.oracle.com to see any Installation White Papers Out there.

I get the following errorsThese are not errors. This is the normal output of the installation process. The message about J2SE 1.4 is merely a fore-warning. Many people had problems when moving to J2SE 1.4 (from previous versions) because they didn't put all of their java classes in packages. I guess the developers of OC4J decided it was important enough to remind them of that when they were installing OC4J. But I assure you, this is not an error message. According to the information you have posted, you have successfully installed OC4J.

Help me with Radio Buttons and Subform fields, please!

I've built a dynamic order form with three product options listed as radio buttons. The three options are "Contoured" "Standard" and "Custom". "Contoured" requires five subfields to be filled in if it is selected. "Standard" requires two subfields to be filled in if it is selected. "Custom" has no associated subfields.
My problem is that I can't figure out a script that isolates the subfields to the appropriate radio buttons. Can anyone suggest a script to use?

Brian, to understand what I did, I will first explain my hierarchy.
RBList has 3 radio buttons: A, B, C. Specify the Item Value for each Radio button, e.g. A=1, B=2, C=3. For radio button A, create 2 dropdown lists & 3 numeric fields and wrap in a subform called SubA - ensure you leave it as Visible presence. For radio button B, create 1 dropdown & 1 numeric, wrap in a subform called SubB, and make sure this is visible. I put my code on the subforms (SubA and SubB) rather than the radio buttons. Also, in order for the layout to be saved in Reader, if you want to save and reopen, you must use the script on the Calculate event. The Click event will not save the layout for you (learnt this from past experience in Designer 7.2 Designer 8 saves layout different again). The event Calculates the function as soon as you open up the file.
Using JavaScript on the Calculate event, on the SubA subform would look like this:

Help me with set up table error message please

I am trying to fill set up tables for application 12 in background as I try to schdule the job, I was getting the message " datasource 2lis_12_vchdr contains data still to be transfred".
I tried twice and both the time i got same message. so I schdule it for running it immediately and it was runnning for 2 hrs and after that I got the same message that " datasource 2lis_12_vchdr contains data still to be transfred".
so what does this mean ? are the set up tables already filled or I need to do someting else before filling set up tables
can you please guide where I can check the set up tables have been filled sucessfully.
I tried in RSA3 and it is showing data there but I am not sure which mode I should select to see the data and I am also not sure weather this is right place to check the data.
This is kind of urgent pl. help

I have just purchased the ipad air. I had the first edition/original ipad. I need to be able to transfer my photo albums to the new ipad. My camera roll downloaded(bizarre formatt) but I am missing pictures from other sources. Everything is in albums and I want to just move them overfrom one ipad to another.( Tried itunes but they didnt store pix as albums). Any ideas?

There is global variable: global.sys_id.
This is supplied from the main menu.
On loading the form for the :global.sys_id = 'ST', it should load the third record (maximum start date for that app_id) automatically.
In case the user changes the start_dt then it should pick up that record and display.

- set the Default_where block property
Set_Block_Property( 'the_block', DEFAULT_WHERE, 'the_new_where_clause');

Help with botched Tiger install from failed 10.5 upgrade

I had Tiger on my Macbook then a mate lent me his OSx 10.5.6 installation disc. Big mistake!
I loaded this new OS on the Macbook but the iMail wouldn't work.
I then went back to my Apple-purchased 10.4.8 installation discs and tried to reload OSx 10.4.8, following the on-screen instructions for going back to 10.4 from 10.5.
Disc 1 of the 10.4.8 loaded fine but was then asked for disc 2 which I loaded. The Install Prog read and loaded from this second disc but the install failed with the error message: "There were errors installing the software, please try again".
The only option I have is to click CLOSE
In doing so, the Mac reboots then opens up again on the Install Prog box that asks me insert Mac OSX Install Disc 2.
I am trapped in this loop and cannot get out!
How do I fix this and either go to OSX 10.4 or my mates OSX 10.5???!

When I tried to do exactly what you said, I got the error message "Public can't be modified or deleted because it is required by Mac OS X. The only thing I could find in my old Username Public folder was Dropbox and seeing as I never really used this, not having the contents on my rebuilt Macbook isn't really a worry for me.
I got the same error message when I tried to copy over all the other folders too.
So I opened each folder in question and copied over the contents of each folder to the contents, i.e. old version to new version (often I had to open sub-folders to copy contents over to sub-folders because I kept getting the "...can't be modified of deleted because it is required by Mac OS X" error message).
When I'd finished doing this, the folder Oldusername in /Previous Systems.localized/Previous System 1/User still has 4.23GB of stuff in it that I can't copy over but when I looked into the remaining stuff in Old User I found a massive amount of stuff in the Downloads folder which I won't miss.
I then rebooted and crossed my fingers...
FANTASTIC - my Desktop data returned and EVERYTHING SEEMS GREAT!!!
Just to be on the safe side, I ran REPAIR DISK PERMISSIONS on the parent 186.3 GB Toshiba disc on the left hand side of the Disk Utility and then rebooted again.

So both my Macbook and my iMac are now running the same version of Mac OS X 10.5.8
However, why is it that the Mail on my Macbook allows me to open Preferences no problem at all but the Mail on my iMac won't let me do this??? This is a real pain as I want to add a new account to my iMac Mail as well as alter some signatures and set up some new rules.
