Help me with FCP motion working well

I have the following computer: Power Mac G5, model identifier PowerMac7,3, processor speed 2.5 ghz, dual, L2 cache 512 kb per cpu, 3 GB DDR memory, I have the ATI Radeon 9800Xt graphics card w/ 256mb vram.
Working with motion has been extremely painful. I bought this computer used and am new to MAC and FCP. I was wondering if I upgraded to more memory would it help the motion process? Using some of the templates is where I am having a really big problem. Also is there another suggestion on the video card or do I have the best the machine can take? I am looking at wanting to invest no more than $200 if I can help it.

Did you load the OS & software yourself or did it already have? Got the disc? It seems your machine the non quad core 2.5ghz, dual proc G5, correct?
Try a fresh install if you haven't already.
you can also try some RAM, it has to be installed in matching pairs, fyi.
Another thing to check into is Xgrid if you have a network of macs available to you, but I think you need a server machine running OS X Server to make it work.
For AGP cards, you can get a (flashed PC card) ATI X800 XT or a NIVIDIA (flashed PC card) 7800 series card from "applemacanix" on ebay. they are a good seller, had good service from them.
But I would post on the motion forum which one would be best, as I'm not sure.
This machine has seen a lot in it's day already. It may not just be able to push the new motion.
I'd hate to see this as your first experience with a Mac, but I think the newer FC Studio pushes these machines pretty hard.

Two 24" LCD Monitors with FCP / Motion

I have a Mac Pro (early 2009) with the new ATI Radeon 4890 dual DVI video card and one Apple 24" LCD monitor. I'm using this setup for primarily FCP/Motion work. Question:
- Can the ATI Radeon 4890 handle two 24" LCD monitors, or do I need to purchase a second video card?
- Can FCP / Motion handle two video cards?

ABSOLUTELY. There are two monitor connections on the card. One DVI, the other the Apple connector.

Yup. Most FCP workstations I have been on, and personally own, are two monitor setups. That is a fairly typical setup.

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still does not connect to any network that indicates a hardware problem.
If you only can't connect to your network that indicates a problem with your network.

Help, my Bridge does not works well with my AfterEffect. does not preview .ffx files

I have some problem with my Bridge. When i browse preset from my After Effect in Bridge, it won't preview all of the After Effect preset(*.ffx), but my Bridge works well with photoshop files, it will preview all the photo files inculding .PSD. Does anyone knows what's the problem? Anyone knows how to fix it? I need help to fix this problem to get my work in AfterEffect, it is very hard to get things work it won't preview the preset. Thanks.

How to employ RAID with FCP, Motion etc.

Quick question I'm in the process of initialising an 8.0Tb RAID (and boy is it taking a long time in the background) and when I start my next project I'm wondering if there is an optimum way to organise my new workflow. I once remember reading in Premiere Pro that you should keep your project files off your program file drive, and your capture scratch on a third drive, although that's on one of those awful PC's does anything apply like that on Mac with FCP? Should I use the RAID as a capture scratch, and keep project files and everything else where? Any working practices I need to adopt with a RAID?
And I've tried to find speed test to download to check the speed on write and read on the RAID but can't find the AJA Kona test to download, anybody know of another, hyperlink?

The Windows 7 drivers worked perfectly for me on my Early-2011 Core i5 MBP.
It's not officially supported by Apple yet as it's pre-release software, but you can install it without any problems.

Round Trip problems with FCP, Motion and 16:9

Hello all-
I've been having some problems with FCP5 and Motion 2. I am working with anamorphic footage (mini dv), and my problem lies in trying to use the "send to" feature in FCP to Motion 2. If I send some footage to Motion 2, edit it, and then go back to FCP to look at my edit, the anamorphic flag has been removed... the video is squished and there are black bars on the right and left sides of the film. I can easily fix this if I find the clip in the FCP browser and check the anamorphic flag, then drag and drop that clip over the original in the sequence, but I was wondering if there was an easier way. Is there a way to make it be anamorphic when it comes back into FCP from Motion 2?

Yes, it loses the anamorphic flag on round trip. Just
ctrl/right-click on the Motion project in your
timeline, select Properties/Format and click on the
anamorphic setting column.

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I've been doing, but I was just wondering if this was an actual bug or not. I guess we will have to wait for Apple to fix it...
BTW- Whenever I check the anamorphic culumn, I always have to re-drag and drop the clip in the timeline again. Is this right? Or should it go ahead and change it in the timeline automatically?

HELP needed with LG monitor working

I was given a 22" LG external monitor to use with my MacBook Pro. Once I got a minidisplay port to VGA adapter, it worked, but only as a mirror. I could not get it to act as a separate monitor to move programs and the cursor between. For dual display, it kept saying I needed LG's Dual Smart Solution program installed. It was software that was only in Windows. I called support and they said the software was not written for Mac and I couldn't use it that way. That doesn't sound right to me. Not being able to use it as a second monitor screen pretty much eliminates a lot of the market, it seems to me. I could be wrong. So I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are settings on the Mac side to make it work, or other solutions. Or if there is a better monitor maker that does not break the bank. The support guy didn't really seem like the brightest bulb. I'm not a geek, so if anyone can help in laymen's terms, I would be very grateful.

It sounds like you want to use the Extended Desktop feature instead of the Mirror:
Set up the displays as an extended desktop
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Displays, then click Arrangement.
Follow the onscreen instructions.

Error 500.00 just with Azure, locally working well

Hi, how are you?
I'm testing the deploy via Visual Studio 2003, but when I deploy I got the error 500.00. If I run via Visual Studio (Locally) works fine but using Windows Azure I get this error

New to iCloud and need help please with getting it working

I've got an iPad 2 and an iPhone 5 and have decided that it's about time to set up iCloud on my devices. I have followed the instructions on the website and in the icloud settings on both devices have switched on mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, safari, notes, photostream (my photo stream-on), documents and data, find my iphone, and icloud backup on. I have ensured that both devices have been backed up and automatic downloads on iTunes & App stores have all been switched on.
I have not yet set up my PC for iCloud.
My understanding is that icloud will sync new downloads and photos etc so I have just tried taking a picture on my iphone, expecting it to appear in my camera roll on my iPad and nothing has happened.
Please can someone advise me if I am doing something wrong or how to resolve this.

Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

Will two set of earbuds on one 3G with a splitter work well?

I was thinking of getting one of those Monster earbud splitters so my wife and I can listen to the same iPhone 3G if we should want to watch a movie ....
Has anyone tried doing this... and can you get enough volume to both sets of earbuds?

It does work in my tests, but it will probably draw down the battery a bit more since they run in parallel, (half the resistance = twice the amps).
It was loud enough for us. YMMV.
