Help me with importing music!!!!!

I took all my music from my c: drive and moved it to my g: drive in order to save space on my hard drive (obviously).
I may have copied all the songs and transferred them over, and created duplicates accidentally, but I killed those.
Now that all my music is in the g: drive and there is no music in my iTunes, how do I get it all in there without duplicating things (like when I drag and drop) or having to go click every song to add it????????

Start with this Article for some understanding of how to move your Library. Then post back with more specifics as to what you actually did.
This well-written iLounge Article is a must-read for anyone considering moving their Library to a new computer or a new location. Or, just wants a better understanding of how iTunes manages your music.

  • Help with importing music from your old computer that is on cd rw's

When you import music from your old computer that is on cd rw's how do get all the song info back?
For example when you plug your ipod in (after you've imported the music) that already has on the songs on it and the titles will it just automatically update it? I have soooo many songs and I'm really not looking forward to having to fill in all the information now myself.Music was exported from my old computer from itunes on to blank cd's. Now I'm in the process of importing the cd's into the itunes library. The songs do not come with titles. They just say track 1, track 2, for example. From my understanding itunes can only pull up the cd info for the actual cd that you buy in the store. I would really appreciate anyone's help.

Sadly, this is not a good way to prepare for transfering your library. If your music still exists on your iPod then the easiest thing is probably to look at this post from Zevoneer which gives details of various methods for pulling data back from the iPod.

  • Problems with importing music into my 60gb ipod

I really need some help.. I just recently got the new 60gb ipod and had no problems imporitn music, i have a windows Xp and installed Itunes in which i registed my ipod, i then went on my sisters IBook and imported music from her. I then sucessfully imported more music from my windows computer. well i am currently visitn her and used her comp for more importing when somethien went wrong. My ipod will only play her music and not mine from my computer. It reads the playlists as if my music was there but when selected, it simply skips it and then when i try to play it on her comp the exclamation point goes up. I dont know what to do.. someone please help me!!!

Melissa, iPods were not made to dock to 2 totally different computers. This was done to prevent illegal file sharing. When you originally docked your iPod to your personal computer, the iPod views that as its "home". In docking to your sister's computer, you would have gotten a message saying something to the effect about " this iPod is linked to another library. do you want to replace iPod's contents with the current music library?" If you said "yes", you have now told iPod that your sister's computer is its "home" & that's why it can no longer access your music. The only way to get your music back is to do a restore of your iPod & allow iTunes to re-sync the library on your computer to your iPod.
Even though you are sisters, if you don't live in the same household what you are attempting to do is considered to be illegal file sharing. PLEASE DON'T STEAL MUSIC!

  • HELP New user, importing Music from library ( WMA )

I am a new user to Itunes ( bit late i know ).
I need to move my music ( my music folder ) into itunes.
I have over 40Gb of music. If i import music folder through Itunes using the file > Import folder menu, i am lead to belive that firstly all my music will need to be converted to Mp3. this is not a problem althouigh i am sure it will take a long time.
My main worry is that when converting the music into itunes the origional my music folder will stay where it is therefore doubling up my music to over 80Gb and therefore will not fit on my hard drives.
i tried to cut and paste my music files into the itunes music folder within my music although it doesnt appear in my library???
    Any help appreciated!!!!
    Many thanks.
    Dell PC   Windows XP

Moving files into the iTunes library doesn't comvert them to MP3.
iTunes can only use unprotected WMA files. If you are trying to add protected WMA songs, they won't go into the iTunes library.
You can leave all the music files where they are. iTunes will only copy them to the iTunes folder if you have that option checked.

  • I have problems with importing music to iTunes, can somebody please help me?

I have all my music organized on an external hard disc in folders for each artist and album, but I can only import some of the folders. It’s like iTunes isn’t registering specific folders, and just skip these folders while the rest of the folders is added as normal. I have tried to add the missing folders manually but it doesn’t help.  I simply can’t add some music to iTunes, what am I doing wrong? Thanks!

It's the file attributes. The files will add but when you try to add a folder it doesn't work. You can get a bulk attribute changer progeam like BulkFileChanger and get rid of the Hidden and archive attributes, This fixed my problem.

  • Syncing Problem With Imported Music

I have imported two albums to my iTunes library but neither of them will sync with my 6th gen Nano. The music plays from the library and music that is bought from iTunes will sync. I have previously imported albums and synced them without a problem.
I have version 11.2 and running Windows Vista. Does anybody know the solution please?

I have now solved this issue. Connect the iPod to your iTunes and click on the device name on the left hand side. Select "music" from the choices on the top row. Check "entire music library" and click "Apply."
Any music that hadn't previously been synced to your iPod will now do so automatically.

  • Help needed with preloaded music!

The preloaded music files won't play, says something about an activation key needed?
It's in the file Summer of Music 2007.
If I try activating it, it says invalid web address.
You probably think this is really straightforward, but I am really bad with phones.
I would really appreciate any help!
    Thanks
    x

Well if you can't play it then you don't have the Rights or the Rights have expired.
Some of the sample songs had expiration dates for the rights so once the expiration passes the songs are not playable anymore.
Anyway it sounds like you are missing the DRM for the song and since it was a pre-loaded song there is little that can be done.

  • Issue with importing music manually.

Apparently, I should be able to load songs on to my ipod manually by dragging them from my library to the ipod icon in itunes; however, this is not working. When I drag a file a circle with a line through it appears and it does not allow me to manually update my ipod.
Has anyone run into this problem? Can somebody help me out?
Oh, I don't have a USB 2 connection... could this be the issue?
    Thanks.

    What was it?
You need to set it to Manual update in order to drag songs to the iPod, otherwise they will go on automatically.

  • Help required with N97 music player

Hi. Could someone help me out please.
Got an N97 at the weekend and wanted to transfer some songs onto the music player for my laptop.
Installed the OVI software no problem, everything went fine.
Dragged my chosen songs to the player and got a message confirming the songs had been transferred.
Went into music player in the N97 and it was totally empty.
Message saying all songs had been transferred on the software.
    Any ideas?

OK, problem sounds similar to mine but refresh & waiting not working for me. One day my music was working fine (listening in car, using sat nav, all plugged into stereo, great...), then I download some photos to my PC and the next day, my music player doesn't think it has any songs...
Go into any of the "Albums", "Artists", "All Songs" etc folders and all I get is a message saying (no songs) and yet, at the top of the page, it says "11 days, 23 hours" - which is how much music I did have on there...
I have tried refreshing the library - takes about 30 seconds & tells me no new songs added. Have rebooted phone & taken battery out for a minute yet I still can't play or access any of my tunes.
Does anyone have any ideas? Please?!!!

  • Help requested with Importing a website's CA certificate into my Java App

    Hello everyone,
First of all, I'm not sure if this is the right category for my question, so if not please move it appropriately.
I'm creating a desktop application that will update your IPv4 address to Tunnelbroker (Hurricane Electric's IPv6 tunnel service). Right now it's about 76% complete, and I'm testing it out. My problem is this: Tunnelbroker uses their own CA Certificate (SSL) for their https:// connection, and it's not valid in Java/Netbeans. So, whenever I try to update the IPv4 address, I get the following Can't read from the Internet: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: java.security.cert.CertificateException: No name matching ipv4.tunnelbroker.net foundThe website is https://ipv4.tunnelbroker.net (so you can verify that it's a valid site/certificate).
I've found workarounds for importing my OWN CA Certificate into the application (or Netbeans), but nothing about importing a valid third-party CA Certificate into the application (or Netbeans). I've posted this question to the Netbeans forums--but have yet to receive anything from them. Also, I've found workarounds for trusting all certificates (although I'm not sure how to implement that into my application).
What I'm looking for is either a) how to import the certificate into my application, so the user won't have to deal with it b) a workaround to bypass the security check c) any other method of getting over this hurdle.
I'd say I'm an intermediate developer, so pointing me to something like "Adding a Certificate Exception" is fine, except that I need to know whether I can take everything inside of the main method and put it as it's own method somewhere (or do I need to create an entire class for that portion).
Also, I don't necessarily want to use the "Trust All Certificates" method. Even though the end-user won't be able to change the site, I don't want to create that much of a security hole.
Thank you for any assistance in this. (As an aside note, this will enable me to finally mark another "open" question as answered, as I haven't been able to test it yet because of this issue).
    Have a great day:)
    Patrick.

I have an update to this. I found out that the domain tunnelbroker.net is in my cacerts (at least if I run a small program to test the SSL Certificate for the site), however since it doesn't list ipv4.tunnelbroker.net as an alternative (that I can see), this is why I'm getting the SSL HandshakeException error.
Here is the script that I ran (compiled and then used java -Djavax.net.debug=all TestSSL https://ipv4.tunnelbroker.net to run it.

So, now I'm trying to figure out how to get past this. Unless (and until) Tunnelbroker includes the alternative name in their certificate (or if it's included already, until I figure out how to get that alternative imported into my truststore), I'm never going to be able to update via java.
    Have a great day:)
    Patrick.

  • Strange problem with importing music

Well, I just recently installed iTunes on my PC. I had some music ripped from two CDs which were saved in the My Music folder. I keep all my music in a different folder, however. So I open up iTunes for the first time and go to my library. I see the songs from those two CDs and some other random music I've never seen before, I delete all of it. I copy + pasted all the rest of my music into the library, but the music from those two CDs won't paste into iTunes. They were in iTunes before when I deleted them, so how come I can't put them back in? They're saved as MP3s. Thanks
