Help Me with mail Pleasee

So I'm trying to set up my school account on mail. My schools website says it's a pop3 account so i use the pop and i type in the server and mail.schoolname.edu and my name and password..It doesnt work though it says it is not responding it works on my pc through outlook but i can't figure it out any ideas?

Open preferences in Mail and go to Accounts, tab account information
select your email account
Assuming you have entered all data correctly in the fields to the right,
click on server settings. Did you enter outgoing mail server data here?
Set authentication to none
Port 25
go to the Tab Advanced
- did you enable this account (in the checkbox)?
- include automatically for new mail checked?
- set port to 110
- Authentication set to password
Close preferences, quit and restart Mail and see if it now works.

    Hello, I‘ve got problems with synchronizing my emails with Mail (Version 3.6 (936)) and iCloud. I started to synchronize my iPhone 5 and iMac at work OS X 10.8. On my Power Mac at home I only receive older mails (latest is from 04/25 this year) and sometimes the same mail 7 times. When i try to quit Mail it doesn‘t work and I've to use the shortcut: +alt+shift+esc.
    I think that my Mail-Version doesn‘t work together with iCloud but perhaps there‘s a possibility to fix this problem with a trick.

    To use iCloud you have to upgrade to at least Lion OS 10.7, which is not possible on a PPC Mac like yours.

  • CAn anyone help me with MAIL and my earthlink account?

    I've had DSL with Earthlink for several years now and never had connection problems. In the past two weeks, however, MAIL will sometimes fail to send email and sometimes fail to retrieve email from my Earthlink webmail account. The strangest thing is that this happens intermittently, even though no settings have been changed. Most of the time I can retrieve email, but other times I get the error message that "port 110 has timed out". Most of the time, I cannot send email, but other times the email shoots right through when I open mail.
    I called Earthlink about this and we set up my MAIL program step by step according to Earthlink guidelines. Unfortunately, this did not help the matter.
    My MAIL preference settings are as follows:
    My incoming mail server is pop.mindspring.com on port 110.
    My outgoing mail server is smtpauth.earthlink.net. The outgoing server port is 587. SSL is not checked. Authentication is by password.
    All of these settings are correct according to the Earthlink tech.
    If this matters, my G5 is connected wirelessly to an Airport Express base station.
    Again, I'm puzzled that I've only just begun to have these issues and they seem to happen randomly.I also see that similar discussions have been had on this forum with Earthlink and MAIL, but I don't see any resolutions. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.

    I had problems with my Earthlink DSL quitting about a month ago. I went through some of the same Earthlink tech support troubleshooting hoops, hooking directly into my ethernet port not into the Airport etc. Eventually an Earthlink senior tech said my Netopia modem was defective. After some financial haggling they sent me a new Zycel modem, that didn't work either. Earthlink made an appointment and sent out an AT&T tech to the house. He hooked in and said it was a defective phone company circuit board. The AT&T tech called in for the phone company to change the circuit board now both the Netopia and Zycel modems work.
    Note: while checking the line, the AT&T tech it my DSL line was sending one protocol it would work if my modem was set up to receive it. (protocol is my word I don't remember his exact word).
    Another Note: Also when Earthlink wanted to replace my modem they wanted my to pay (the dollar amounts are approximate) $80 for an new modem, or get a free modem with an exorbitant $40 shipping fee and commit to an other year of service. I eventually bargained down to a free modem, free shipping and $20 off the monthly fee.

  • With all the mac experts here, no one can help me with mail?! Geez...

    I recently sold my MBP (intel), and have the cloned HD on a FW drive. Unfortunately, I did not export my mail as an archive, from the MBP before I made the clone.
    I have a G5 Powermac dual 2.0, that I do not use for mail, and wanted to use my MBP mail in the G5's Mail app.
    I tried copying the user/library/mail folder from the MBP's same folder into the G5. This has always worked for me in the past.
    When I launch mail, *I see all my messages from the MBP in my G5 inbox, but after a few seconds, a status bar appears in the lower left activity section of the main viewer, and then the messages disappear*. To where, I have no idea. I have re-tried this method many times, clicking on the stop icon in that status bar, but I can't stop it in time before it disappears all the messages. (Where are they, Gitmo?)
    I have taken all accounts offline, and disconnected the internet, and that also doesn't help.
    I have tried just importing the inbox from the MBP FW clone, and i get a pop-up message in the import window that says,
    "Error
    No valid Mail for OS X files were found"
    Is there an incompatibility between the intel and ppc's Mail architecture, that is responsible for this?
    Why do I see my messages for a few seconds before they vanish without a trace?
    Is there any workaround for me that I can try?
    Obviously I can't reboot my PPC with the Guid partitioned MBP clone...
    Can I clone the MBP's GUID format HD clone to a G5 partition in the Apple Partition Map format and make it bootable? Seems like a lot of effort, but I am getting desperate.
    I'm tearing my hair out...
    BTW, I am getting a new MBP, but as it's a special order, it is going to take a week.
    I need to access those messages now! Can anyone help?
    Also, when I try importing the entire mail folder, it gives me a choice of everything except the main accounts inbox!
    I could choose it's junk mail, deleted messages, it's outbox...
    I should also mention both had Leopard 10.5.2
    I can also open the individual mail documents in my inbox messages folder, but can't get them into the Mail app. Aaaaarrrghhh.

    Well after a day of hair tearing I have finally figured it out.
    I found a program called, emix to mbox converter, and I used that to convert all the mail files into an mbox file.
    Then I was able to import that, and drag the emails into my .mac inbox.
    It's taking a while to transfer them from the import folder to the inbox, but it is working... pheeew!

  • Help Needed With Mail and Reminders Vs. To Do Apps

    I am running Yosemite 10.10.3 and IOS 8.2 on a Late 2012 Mac Mini.
    I have been all over the place trying to find a perfect To Do List App that fully integrates with Mac Mail.   I have versions of Things, Todoist, and Wanderlist that will work, but I have trouble tying them into my ICAL for meetings and reminders.
    I am the kind of person who looks all over for a solution to a problem, when it might already be in front of me.
    So, how can I take a Email and send it as a to do item to Reminders, or better yet, a section of an email and send it to reminders.  I know from there it will automatically sync up to my iCloud and everything else.
    I do not need anything over complicated, or have to share with anyone, so I have been leery of investing in Todoist or Wunderlist pro because I cannot seem to get this going.
    I am hoping that the geniuses here at the Support Forums can help me out.  I am wasting too much time and effort, trying things and having it not work.  I have to believe that Apple has the solution right in front of me.

    Whilst it's obviously for Outlook Express it contains all the details you need to configure the mail client. Point 5 has the server details for IMAP access (you typically can't access a web-based email account in an email client).
    Bear in mind changes you make on the +iPod touch+ will be reflected when you next log-on into your web-based email or desktop email client.

  • Can anyone help me with Mail for Mac passwords?

    I have been using Mail (on my MacBook Pro running OS 10.8.2) quit happliy for some time. I have several accounts for good reason. Recently two of the accounts started asking me to enter my password (see screen shot below). Having done so too many time, my account became locked and I had to go through Yahoo mail to reset it (with help from BT). In the end I had to change three passwords. While two of them are now being accepted by Mail, the third is not. Can anyone help?

    I should also say, that I have now upgraded to 10.8.3 and following the advice elsewhere, the password saved in my keychain access is the correct one.

  • Help please with Mail attachements

    Can anyone help please. When I send an email with an attachment such as a jpeg to a Windows user the recipient complains that the attachment is embedded in the email and can not be extracted to forward, or print for example. I end up having to use Entourage for Mac to send attachments which works for them but is a pain to me.
    What do I need to do to have truly Windows Friendly attachments?

    When a PC Outlook user gets a jpg you have attached, even clicking USE WINDOWS FRIENDLY ATTACHMENTS will not alter it. We've done several experiments here and it seems that if you select USE RICH TEXT for formatting in mail preferences MAIL determines that you want to imbed the graphic rather than attach it. If you select use plain text, the jpg will attach properly, but you lose any HTML signatures you have set up, which is a problem for me.
    If a yahoo mail is sent from the Mail client, it automatically changes to plain text.
    I like Mac Mail, but I want control over how the attachments are sent, so I can have my jpg not imbedded and my HTML signature.

    I've a 10.4.4 server, running for mail-service.
    After the upgrade from 10.3.9 i've no POP/SMTP Logs! That's not really a problem.
    But now i cann't change the Protocol-level of Mail in Server-Admin. I can mark "warning" or something else but if i want to save it, updates it everything and 5 sec later it shows the "critical" level (same as before)!!
    That's happen with 10.4.3! I thought in 10.4.4 maybe it's better but now i cann't change any junk settings too!!
    I tried with mailbfr diagnostics but nothing found...
    Same in system.log, no info...
    I'm lucky if anybody can help me!

    even though i get emails, it does not give me red bubbled notification with numbers on it on the mail app logo..why is this and what should i do??

    If you haven’t found a solution yet, try the following to determine the scope of the problem:
    1. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Accounts and create a new user account for testing purposes.
    2. Either log out of your main user account or just quit Mail so that it does not interfere with the other user account.
    3. Log in as the newly created user and set up Mail anew there.
    4. For spam-related security reasons, go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    5. If you set up a POP account, go to Preferences > Accounts > Advanced and disable Remove copy from server after retrieving a message if it’s enabled, to avoid messages being accidentally removed from the server while testing.
    6. Check whether the problem also happens when logged in as another user.
    BTW, I don’t understand why Mail would show a “Removing message attachments” activity while downloading the messages...

    Hi, I have an me.com (icloud) email address and when mail comes to inbox it only stays there for a day or two then goes to trash, then disappears completely . This happens across all my devices, iMac, macbook, iPad and iPhone. I also have a main business email (.com.au)  which works fine. 
    Has anyone had this happen before, or could assist

    So, I'm embarssed to say I'm not to clear on the RSS thingy, so, I know that it will update when a new entry from a blog is posted by the user, I've done that.
    But...
    When I'm on a web page and if they happen to have a RSS subscription logo, I select it and it tries to bookmark in Safari.
    Also, it seems that I can make a blog http:// URL a RSS feed in Mail, but now a .feed page.... Can someone please clear for me? If you know of a good Apple Link I would be greatful. The one that keeps coming up in search is dead.

    To search feeds you’ve bookmarked in Safari, start typing in the search field. To select from a list of bookmarked feeds, Shift-click to select feeds that are next to each other in the list; Command-click to select feeds that are not next to one another.
    If you want RSS feeds to be included in your Inbox, click “Show in Inbox.”
    Click Add.

    Since I am not familiar with them, you are going to need to check their website or call them up and ask if they support POP or IMAP and get the incoming and outgoing server settings.

    Urgent help needed with un-removable junk mail that froze Mail?
    I had 7 junk mails come in this morning, 5 went straight to junk and 2 more I junked.
    When I clicked on the Junk folder to empty it, it froze Mail and I can't click on anything, I had to force quit Mail and re-open it. When it re-opens the Junk folder is selected and it is froze, I can't do anything.
    I repaired permissions, it did nothing.
    I re-booted my computer, on opening Mail the In folder was selected, when I selected Junk, again, it locks up Mail and I can't select them to delete them?
    Anyone know how I can delete these Junk mails from my Junk folder without having to open Mail to do it as it would appear this will be the only solution to the problem.

    If you hold the Shift key when opening the mail app, it will start up without any folders selected & no emails showing. Hopefully this will enable you to start Mail ok.
    Then from the Mail menus - choose Mailbox-Erase Junk Mail . The problem mail should now be in the trash. If there's nothing you want to retain from the Trash, you should now choose Mailbox- Erase Deleted Messages....
    If you need to double-check the Trash for anything you might want to retain, then view the Trash folder first, before using Erase Junk Mail & move anything you wish to keep to another folder.
    The shift key starts Mail in a sort of Safe mode.

    The question mark means the computer cannot find a bootable volumes so can;t do anything, That, combined with annoying sounds, strongly suggests a failed hard drive.
    You can ask a "genius" at an Apple Rtail Store to test it but I'm pretty sure the drive is kaput. I'm hoping you had your data backed up.
