Sry for the stupid name. Anyways, the computer whiped and I lost all my music. Luckily, my iPod was up to date and has all the songs on it. Is there a way to transfer the songs from my iPod to restore my iTuenes ?

    1) Install iTUnes
    2) Hold Shift and ctrl keys. While holding connect the ipod and do not let go til the ipod is listed in itunes. this stops an auto update.
    3) Set the ipod to "Manually Manage songs" and hit "Apply"
    4) Now you can use podutil http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/software/podutil.php to copy from the ipod. Hit "Copy Settings" and check both copy tracks to itunes and rebuild playlist.

    I wonder if anyone can help me.  Last week I updated my iPod to the latest software (8.2).  Today I deleted some albums from iTunes and added a few others.  I also made some changes to a few of my playlists.  I then synched iTunes and my iPod.  However the synching has not worked. 
    When I connect my iPod, it shows up in iTunes pretty instantly.  When I click on sync, I can see in iTunes that it is syncing and also on my iPod, but the changes do not appear on my iPod afterwards.  Also, after the first syncing attempt, I lost two-thirds of my album cover art.  So, I lost covert art, but no other changes were made.  The albums I deleted from iTunes are still on my iPod and the ones I added to iTunes are not on my iPod. 
    I have looked at the music on my iPod while connected to iTunes.   I can see the songs/albums I have added are there, but they appear in grey and have a doted circle (to the left) next to them.  This shows that they have not synched (I guess). 
    I have already restarted my McBook Pro and iPod a few times.  I synched my iPod with iTunes after every restart, but it has not made any difference.  I also deleted the music I added to iTunes and added it again.  I synched iTunes and my iPod after this, but it has made no difference. 
    I would appreciate any suggestions.

    Thank you for your reply.  I followed your suggestion and restored my iPod to its factory settings.  I then restored it from a backup file.  All the problems have been resolved.  Quite incredible that I had to go through that process to fix it.  I hope Apple will find a solution to the iTunes problem soon.

    I am so frustrated and have spent hours on this. I have windows XP on an HP computer. I have a 2nd generation click ipod and wanted to put new CD music on it. I had itunes 7 and used it frequently. A message popped up and asked me if I wanted to download the new itunes 8 so I tried, and that was a huge mistake. I have spent hours trying to get this to work. I have read through all the threads and have tried everything: uninstalling my old quicktime, uninstalling my old itunes; going to windows cleanup and removing all that have anything to do with itunes; stopped the popup protection; went to msconfig to set the computer to normal startup mode in general tabs. removed anything to do with itunes or quicktime.
    I installed the 7 version of quicktime first and then the itunes. I get an error message "quicktime failed to initialize (error-2096) reinstall....
    this is the same error message that I got before I did all of the above. I can't speak to anybody at Apple about this and don't know what to do. I had been thinking of getting the new itouch, but now I don't know. I don't even have my itunes anymore (it has been days) and who knows where my library of songs is and if they would still be in itunes somewhere. I am not computer savey and just would like this to be fixed. I would appreciate any simple help I could get to solve this problem.

  • Someone please help me with my iTunes 5.0.2 problem.

    I recently updated my itunes to 5.0.2 unfortunately I forgot to restart the computer. I had other updates waiting to be restarted and I put my laptop to sleep and when I opened it, it started configuring and installing. Now once you close itunes for the first time it doesnt reopen again or when it does it is unresponsive unless you restart the computer. I have uninstalled and installed it several times but nothing seems to work, I think it has something to do with a corrupted file. Can anyone please help me fix this?

    Right mouse click iTunes icon and select "Run as Administrator".

  • Help me with the iTunes Store Connectivity please

    When i first bought my iPod nano, I installed the iTunes that came with it, and at first i couldnt access the iTunes store for a while but eventually the iTunes store started working and i could access it everyday. But ever since I installed this new iTunes 7 i havent been able to connect once again. I have Uninstalled it and reinstalled it 3 timees and i have checked to make sure that iTunes is permitted on my norton firewall, and it is. I have tried almost everything i read on this site but nothing seems to work for me. I will post my Diagnostic with this to see if anyone has any ideas on what can help me.

    I am running the latest version of iTunes on my computer running Windows 7. Since November 2010, I have been unable to purchase anything, I have been unable to update my iPod touch 3rd generation, and I have been unable to sync, etc etc. The second I open up iTunes, I get a "duplicate file name specified" pop-up. This same pop-up happens when I plug in my iPod. And it happens again when I try to buy anything. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, I have tried installing previous versions, EVERYTHING. I have also contacted Apple Support via email multiple times. Finally, around my FIFTH time contacting them, they said I could restore my iPod to factory settings and start all over, and they would make every purchase I have ever had available for download again. Sure, they were made available for download again, but what error did I get when I tried to download them? Duplicate file name specified. So I never restored to factory settings. I've been relying on an outdated iTunes store on my iPod itself to buy anything. Please, I know I wrote a lot but if ANYONE has any help they could give me, I'd really like to be able to have a functioning iTunes and iPod touch again!

    I am also having this same problem on Windows7 Ultimate. I have completely removed my Music Library to make sure that was not the problem. I have uninstalled all Apple applications from my computer. I have re-installed my original version of iTunes (10.5.2.11) and finally I unistalled that and reinstalled the latest iTunes (10.5.3) and I still receive the "A duplicate file name has been specified".  It does not stop me from playing my library. But, as Aidan said it does stop me from purchasing from iTunes Store.
    Has anyone found a fix for this?

    I just got a new laptop and i already had itunes downloaded on the family laptop. i downloaded itunes on my new laptop but no content is there. HELP! Does anyone know why my music, apps... nothing is on my itunes?

    Go into the iTunes store. Click on the My Purchases link on the right side. Click on the tab that says not on this computer. Then click download all. That should fix it for your purchases

    You can check the purchase history on your account via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, though I'm not sure if that shows auto-renewing subscriptions (I haven't got any so I can't check).   • Can someone help me with an Itunes & Firefox problem? (Stuttering issue)

    Hi,
    Yesterday I updated iTunes to the latest version.  Since then, whenever I listen to music in iTunes and browse the net, the track playing stutters/skips when a webpage loads or if I open a new tab. 
    I have tried various "solutions" already like updating my soundcard driver and setting the iTunes priority in task manager, but that didn't work at all. 
    I have searched the internet and have noticed that this is an old problem, yet no one seems to have an answer.  Does anybody here have an update on this problem and a probable solution for me.

    Copy and paste this little script in your terminal:

    A return of "i am local" ensures there is no remote connection to your machine (through SSH).
    In the future, to avoid remote entry, I would recommend not posting your IP address though.

    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
    The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if AAS won't install normally.

    Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes

    Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
