Help me with my Mac Bluetooth keyboard!

I was able to upload this video only when I restarted my iMac (2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3)! The problem is I keep on needing to restart to keep using this keyboard! Please help me!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxSK_uLED34

Sorry, Babowa. I will explain.
Weeks ago, I was shocked to learn that all of the sudden, my Bluetooth Keyboard failed to work, except for the volume controls on the keyboard. All other types of key presses went ignored. So I plugged in my USB keyboard to my iMac and wouldn't you know... that same thing was going on with the USB keyboard, too. My iMac ignored all key presses except for the USB keyboard's volume control. I guess I must have restarted out of frustration, that's the only idea I can think of when I went on my day that day and put that problem behind me.
But today, I wasn't going to forget about this problem at all, when it happened again. I was going to document this. This problem seems so bizarre and twisted of a problem to me and I really should know what's going on with my iMac. And so, document this problem, I did. As you can see (with the Keyboard Viewer), I can control only the volume with the computer, despite trying to type in the search box of System Preferences and also Spotlight.
So, uhm... what the heck is going on? Any ideas? Thanks for your patience...

I am having trouble getting my My Mac Book Pro 15" Retina to wake up with an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse while Docked in a Hengedock vertical docking station. The Keyboard and mouse work great with the laptop lid open but when closed in the docking station the bluetooth signal does not seem to transmit.  Is there a setting that can be changed to allow an Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to wake the computer while docked?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

I paired my iPad Mini 3 with an Anker bluetooth keyboard, then i hit forget this device. How do i re-pair them?

Try resetting the iPad.   Hold down the home and power/sleep buttons for 10 to 15 seconds or until the Apple Logo shows up. Let the iPad reboot and then try to pair again.  Not data should be lost.

  • Please help me with my mac. when i turned it on, a small question mark icon (?) appears at the center.

    hi,
Please help me out with my MAC model m6497. when i turned it on, only a smallquestion mark appears at the center and does not proceed to its descktop at all

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
Or if you are running 10.7 Lion, boot from the recovery partition (Command +R on boot) and use Disk Utility to repair your OS 10.7 partition.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is, then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions. After repairing use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for restarting from your hard drive.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

  • Pairing with Think Outside Bluetooth Keyboard XTBT01

Please help me to pair my Think Outside Bluetooth Keyboard XTBT01 with my BB8900. The BB did see the keyboard but when I enter the numerical password I just get the message that it was not possible to pair.
What do I need to do that the two will pair?????
    Ferdinand

I get exactly the same behavior (Style/9670) -- the Style is happy but the keyboard isn't (blinks as though pairing is incomplete). Maybe I should have picked a Windows Phone or Nokia...

  • Can someone help me with my mac crashing

No, I have never backed up my files.   Yes, that was stupid of me.  Yes, I still have six months left on my Apple Care Agreement.  So, please don't chastise me as I am very frustrated (as anyone would be).    Here's my story:
One moment I was using PS on the plane (no internet), and an hour later, after I got home, I started it and got a gray screen with a flashing ? on a folder.  I've googled the problem and have gone through all of the steps on Apple Support page (safe boot, resetting PRAM).  Resetting the PRAM caused the mouse pointer to show up and the folder with the ? mark to stop displaying.  I actually was able to hear the drive running.  I'm not sure if this is good or bad.  I have no peripherals attached to my lapto, not even a wireless mouse.  Power is plugged in.  Did the x-ray machine at the Cincinnati airport burn it up?
To add to my frustration, I have every disc, including floppy discs for every computer I've ever owned (and don't anymore), yet I cannot find my start up disc that came with my Mac.  This is not like me at all, so I'm sure it's in my house somewhere.  Normally, I would just take the machine to the Macbook Pro doctor but I am leaving at 6 am (Thursday, January 12) to a conference and I really need this laptop.  Murphy's Law, of course.
Does anyone have any ideas other than what's on the Support page?  Is it possible to download the start up data on my PC and burn a new DVD start up disc?
Is this hopeless?  Am I just S.O.L.?  (you know -- the technical meaning!)
I'm pre-thanking anyone who has any insight on this issue.

Oh Linc, thou art definitely a gorilla.  And a grouchy one at that.  Did someone steal your banana?
I updated OS system so people who are having the same problem won't be confused.  But the Mac 10.7 is Lion (which I would have had to purchase and install) and then I would have known what the 10.7 was; but I said I was on the latest version of Snow Leopard.  That should have been a clue to those of you who are intelligent (since I'm obviously not) that I was on 10.6.  A person doesn't know what he doesn't know.  And that doesn't make that person stupid.  Just uninformed.
While I appreciate your efforts, I know what a backup is. I know that replacing the hard drive without retrieving the data means I have no data.  Even a gorilla knows that.  And I wouldn't be asking for help, if I didn't care about my data.  So, the only two things (and useful comments) you had to write were:
"If you try to fix the problem without backing up first, you may ruin whatever chance you have of recovering your data."  and
"With a non-bootable system, you back up either by booting from an external device or starting in FireWire target mode and mounting the internal drive on another Mac."
The rest was just sarcasm and unnecessary.
    Current Status:
Among Linc and Ralph (who responded in a very patient manner) AND my nephew who brought the Snow Leopard Installation Disc over (that we didn't use) AND contacting his Apple Genius friends he works with, and the assurance my nephew gave me that they will backup everything before they do anything else, I think I have the best hope of recovering my files. You guys scared me enough to make the decision not to try to fix it myself.  I figured if I tried the Disk Repair Utility and backing it up to a "regular" external drive, and it didn't work, then I may have ruined any chance of recovering my files.  If the Apple Geniuses can't recover my data, then I couldn't have done it (I don't have the equipment to do that).
My Apple Care Protection will cover any hardware repairs.
For any other readers who are having this problem, I will post whether or not the Apple Geniuses were able to fix the whole problem.  One way or the other.

  • What to do with a broken Bluetooth keyboard?

I have an Apple Bluetooth keyboard with non-working keys: Tab, Caps Lock, left Shift, Q, W, E, R, and T. All the others work fine, and I can successfully pair it with my PowerBook. I took it apart to investigate and confirmed what I had suspected: Some water I had recently spilled on the keyboard had corroded the contacts on those non-working keys.
So, the keyboard is basically useless to me now and I'm wondering what to do with it. I see three options:
    1) Throw it away.
    2) Sell it on eBay as "parts". Maybe somebody's kid pried off a key on their keyboard, and they're willing to pay me $10 for replacement keys instead of buying a whole new keyboard.
    3) Replace the corroded membrane with a new one. This would give me a working keyboard, but I don't know where to get a membrane (unless I buy another keyboard, of course).
    Any suggestions?

I ended up putting it on eBay.

  • Working with both a bluetooth keyboard and keypad

Is there a limitation on how many keyboard devices can be used at once?
I have a third party bluetooth keyboard and keypad set. Each of them was recognized and paired with the iPad okay.
However it only connects to one device or the other. Never both at the same time. Is this a limitation of the iPad software? (also of note: the keypad works okay with the exception of the enter key. It worked okay for the purpose of typing in the code to pair the device with the iPad, but not when in general use.)

Im also having this same problem with the Microsoft BT Keyboard 6000. I can only use one at a time.
Also, I cant get the copy & paste ( Control C or V ) to work

Are you familiar with Ink on mac os x?
Normally one needs to have a tablet or device that supports Ink to use all the features such as hand writing recognition and such, but
one can enable parts of it without the proper device.
Anyway, if Ink is not shown in the system preferences, you can go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras and double click on Ink.menu
That puts the Ink icon on the Menu Bar where you can access the Ink preferences from the drop-down menu and then turn Ink on and Show Ink Window
The small window has symbols for the Cmd, Shift, Option and Control keys and then one can press, for example, the Option symbol and set the clone source point in photoshop.
Don't know whether it will work for your students, but thought it was worth a mention.

  • IMac 27" with Win7, Apple bluetooth keyboard not connected, STUCK.

I made a huge (and naive and stupid) mistake and now have an iMac stuck at the Win7 boot screen because it can not find the keyboard. I can't boot it back into OSX either because the keyboard OPT key is not recognized. Here is what happened:
My iMac 27" was working perfectly in dual boot mode and I could arbitrarily boot in either OS without problem since 3 months. Well, today, a friend called and said that her Apple keyboard is not recognized by Win7 on her iMac and she can not type. So I made sure that the battery is good and the green light is on, then I told her to go into the bluetooth device panel and remove the keyboard then re-pair it again. My thought was that I have done that with all bluetooth devices in Windows without problem, and Apple hardware and software is solid, so that got to work without a glitch, right. WRONG. She struggled to pair and connect the keyboard in Win7 to the point that I said I will remove my keyboard device and reconnect it so I can tell her the exact steps. Well, I learned the hard lesson with Apple stuffs myself. After removing the keyboard device, I could pair it, but not without difficulty. Then, however, does not connect, since I could not type and the device driver says that the device can not be started. Then I read messages in the Apple forum recommending to boot up in to OSX to remove the device there and boot it back into Win7 to pair it. OK. I used the mouse to shut down the Win7 and forgot that I have no keyboard now. I couldn't have used Boot Camp control panel to boot into OSX but I was so confident in Apple that I did not think about it. Now, I am stuck with a machine that boots into Windows without stopping and hangs at the first screen because the keyboard is missing. I inserted the OSX DVD in the hope that it would boot from the DVD but it does not. And the DVD is of course stuck in the drive. I am working at a remote location and do not have a usb keyboard or anything else.
Can anyone recommend a procedure to boot into OSX in my situation? Or can anyone tell me if I can pair and connect the keyboard in the BIOS? I googled but could not find anyone in a similar situation like mine. My friend can take her machine to Apple store for service, but I am in a country that has no Apple store.
Thank you very much for any hint.
    tom

I don't know but I installed my Windows 7 with Bootcamp without using a USB keyboard (cuz I don't have one). But you will at least need a USB mouse though. The moment it requires me to use keyboard input for various of information the bootcamp already downloaded required drivers and updates for my wireless keyboard to work. Make sure your wireless keyboard are on and try type something on it (it goes into some sort of sleep mode when you first start it).

  • Help me with this Mac Mail!

    Hey everyone,
I am new here and I have a question. I am using Mac Mail and what my problem is is that when I am trying to connect to my ISP, I can see on the screen that it says it is searching for new messages but it never downloads anything. Now, I know this is untrue because I checked my webmail and I have messages on there. Here is what has already been done.
** Deleted and remade the curent account and verified all of the settings are correct
** Tried moving the PList to the desktop, restarting and creating a new account there
** I have went in and deleted all of my old ISPS accounts
** Set up an account with OE6 on my home computer and made sure I left a check in leave a copy of mail messages on server
** I have no antivirus programs on my computer that are currently turned on
** I have nothing else using my connection that woudl interfere with this
** Verified my port settings were correct for 110 incoming
I just do not get it. Why does it send the log in information? Check my mail, check for unseen messages and then come back with nothing to show? Keep in mind, this was working fine at one time. And also this is not just my computer. There have been 10 other friends I have that are having the exact same problem. I give them Apple
s number at 1-800-SOS-APPLE and apple basically refuses to help them if they do not have the tech support feature. They also refused to help me basically. Does anyone have ANY ideas whatsoever or has anyone had this problem and if so, how do u fix this?
    Power MAC I5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hello,
Is this POP account provided by your ISP? Is there an online link where the ISP provides info about how to set up their email account?
In Mail, it is necessary to know whether the mail server expects the Username to be the portion of the email address in front of the "@", or the entire email address -- here we are talking about the entry block for Username, and not Email Address. If you are only entering the username portion, try the whole email address -- if you are using the latter, currently, try only the username portion.
Access of the POP3 mail server, with Mail, uses only the Username and password, so the form of Username is critical.

  • Is there a training class or book that will help me with my mac?

Could someone recommend a book or training class for the MacBook Pro? This Grandma needs simple instructions on how to convert from a Dell to a Mac! Thanks!

Welcome to the forums and to Macs in general.  One of the best sources for help is here on the forums.  Look through and find the different ones that may help you and ask away.  Most of the people on here are very knowledgable and helpful.  The Apple: Find out how link is also a great source.  You can also call Apple and ask for help from them on the phone.  That is included with you warranty for 90 days.  If you buy Apple Care it extends your warranty and phone help to 3 years.  I have always bought AppleCare and it has more than paid for itself over the years.
