I have a video ipod and I want to put pictures on it. All I have is itunes. I need help. I don't know how to put pictures onto my ipod. I am sure someone knows.....?

I bought an IPod on my honeymoon and a belkin media reader. I transferred all of my photos to it and everything was ok.
I've got home and run the CD and tried to connect my ipod for the first time, It said it needed formatting to make it compatible with Windows and so I pressed cancel. I don't want to format it!!!
It's now flashing with do disconnect. I can't eject the device.
I don't want to lose my precious photos!!!!

Hi Sorry for the delay, My problem was that I was using Windows XP to read a macintosh formatted IPod, I hadn't used ITunes to copy them across, I'd downloaded them with Belkin's Media reader. I had to use MacDrive to copy the DCIM folder across to my PC. If you've copied them across using ITunes or IPhoto, then they wouldn't be in this folder.
I'm not sure if you copied them full size or not, as I think you get the option to cut them down - if that's the case then I think you'd only have the smaller image on your IPod.
I'm not sure what utilities are available for the Mac, but you may be able to use something like (if you know someone with a Windows XP machine).

Please help, problems with two different ipods

Both my ipod and my sister's ipod are experiencing problems. Both ipod's are 4th gen with click wheel.
My ipod isn't being recognized by itunes (I have the latest version) and only once in awhile will my computer recognize my ipod. I get a file showing my calender, notes, etc,.. I can't click on any of them though. When I connect my ipod to the usb cord and connect the cord to the computer, the ipod only just restart's itself.
My sister's ipod does absolutely nothing except show the apple logo and then shut off. Earlier today it was displaying the exclamation mark and the folder icon and it once displayed the sad ipod icon.
Does anyone here know what the problem is with these two ipod's and if there is a way that I can fix them?

I put a bunch of my pictures on my iPod to view them. They were saved onto an external harddrive, which is now dead. How can I get the pictures from my iPod back onto my computer?

When you say pictures do you mean photographs or album artwork? Here's a simple "How To" on downloading photos from a folder on your hard disk to an iPod:
1 Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the photos you want on your iPod. Call it iPod Photos for example
2 Drag the photos you want from your usual picture folder into the folder you just created
2 Open iTunes, select your iPod in the iTunes Source list.
3 Click the Photos tab and select “Synch photos from.”
4 Choose “Choose Folder” from the pop-up menu and select the iPod photos folder you created.
5 When you want to change what photos are on the iPod just add or remove the photos from the folder you have made and syncronise the the iPod
On a smaller device like the Nano I would tend to leave the "Include Full Resolution photos" box unchecked as these will take up a lot of space on the iPod and are only useful if you want to copy photos from one computer to another. iTunes will add "optimised", small TV quality versions of the photos to the iPod for you to view.
To add album artwork, first of all make sure your iPod is enabled to show the artwork:
1. Connect your iPod to your computer
2. Click on the iPod icon when it appears the iTunes Source pane to bring up the preference tabs.
3. Select the Music tab of the iPod settings. The iPod settings are displayed to the right in the main iTunes window.
4. Select the "Display album artwork on your iPod" check box.
5. Click Apply to save the changes. The iPod begins to update as soon as Apply is clicked.

- Move your iTunes media library to the new computer by:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
- Copy any synced photos to the new computer too.
- Connect the the iPod to the new computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

Need Help/Advice with Photo Web Gallery coming from SQL Database

This is my first attempt at a database driven website. I assume what I am trying to accomplish should be fairly easy for more experienced but I am stuck at this point.
First, let me explain what I am trying to accomplish.
I want to create a thumbnail photo gallery displayed in columns and rows. I want to be able to hover over or click on the thumbnail image and have a lightbox script display the image over the thumb page. I am developing locally right now with intent to upload to the hosting site upon completion.
I am developing with ASP vbScript pages. I have an SQL database where the paths to the image thumbnails and pictures are stored in a table. On the gallery page, I have created a div tag to hold my image recordset. Within this div, I have inserted 3 absolute positioned divs to hold the pictureID, the pictureName and the image inserted as a datasource. I then inserted the information from the bindings panel of my recordset. Last, I used a horizontal looper extension from Tom Muck to get the thumbnails to display in columns and rows. Everything works up to this point just fine.
Now, I want to be able to hover or click on a thumnail image and have it displayed in a lightbox. I downloaded and used a javascript called Lightbox 2 which contains 3 javascript files and a css stylesheet. I inserted the files into the head tag like instructed to but could not get things to work properly. Here is where I need help. Currently, I am clicking on the thumbImage binding within the image Div and creating a link holder. I am then binding the larger pictureImage to it with the a.href selected in the bind to. I am then adding the command to call the lightbox javascript. Now, when I test my page, my thumbnail images do not show up (my alt text does in its place) but the links are in place and you can click on the alt text and it will return the correct larger image, but not in the lightbox, just in a new window with no styles.
Am I going about this correctly? Can you use lightbox scripts with data-driven galleries? Does anybody have any suggestions of what I may be doing wrong or missing? Are there better ways to go about accomplishing this?
Any help would be appreciated as this dynamic data thing has my head spinning. Although I know a database is needed to simplify the update and maintenance of the photos while allowing them to be searchable by keywords and tags also set up in the database.

As I explained, I am developing locally a the moment. I will see about getting the databased moved up to the hosting server and then provide a link for an example.
In the mean time, can you or anyone else explain a way that you would go about displaying an image thumbnail photo gallery laid out in rows / columns, with any lighbox script that would overlay the larger image over the existing page instead of opening a new browser window?
I don't have to use the method I tried to describe.
In all of the lightbox examples I have looked at thus far, they give instructions on how to append that javascript to a single static image or a group of static images, not images from a datasource. That is where I am getting confused.

Help needed with photo extraction

Hi all,
This is my first time using this forum and hope you can help me out with my problem. I am trying to extract an image from a photo so I can add image to a poster I am creating. I can get the section I need but however the problem I am having is that when I save the pic. The background is coming in as a white square and I wish the backgroud to be fully transparent for to add to the poster. I have tried to match the poster background but I am using a gradient colour on it and the square is visible and not good enough. I am using pse 5 the poster I am trying to use it on is word doc.
Hopefully there is a simple solution and someone could point me in the right direction thanks in advance

Hi all once again. I have managed somewhat to solve the problem by simply saving as a giff file and using that for the image. However I am now faced with a new problem in that the edges of the image are very rough and noticable and it doesnt blend in too well . Any help please

HELP ME with connecting my ipod to the TV in my car

I tried connecting the ipod video that i have to the TV monitor in my car. I used AV to Ipod headphone cable. I have AV outlets (red, white, and yellow). However, the sound keeps on going off on the left side of my car everytime i go over a bump or randomly when i am driving. I wanted to see if getting an AV to Dock connector(connecting to the bottom of the ipod rather than to the headphone connection) will help solve the problem??

To restore the new style interface, in the View menu select Toolbars, the option "Tabs on Top" should be selected, if it is not click on that entry to select it. Next, in the View menu select Toolbars then de-select the "Menu Bar" entry, that will then hide the menu bar and it should now have the new look.

Help needed with 4th gen. iPod shuffle and "reshuffling" music

I have a silver 4th gen. iPod shuffle that works well for me. I had 196 songs on it and in the last couple of days, I added 14 more. Now, I have 210 songs on it. Cool. The issue I have is NONE of the new songs play. I do get a good mixture of music and it's pretty random but in the 7 or so hours I listened to my iPod today at work, NONE of the new songs I added played at all. I would guess at least one of the new songs would have played but none did.
I found the iPod manual online in PDF format and read the instructions for "reshuffling" the iPod, but I'm not sure that worked. So, here are my questions:
When I add new music, must I manually "reshuffle" the songs manually or should that happen automatically?
When I "reshuffle" the songs, I follow these steps: "To reshuffle songs, slide the three-way switch from shuffle (icon) to play in order (icon) and back to
shuffle again. Must the iPod be playing music when I do this or does that matter?
I manually add the music to the iPod and don't automatically sync anything, nor do I have any playlists.

You may want to play the shuffle with the switch in the middle play-in-order position. Then, when you play songs from the All Songs list, they play in alphabetical order. That should make it easier to confirm that songs on the new batch does actually play (because the order is not random).
Also, there are only about 200 songs on there, so keep hitting Next until hear one of the new songs. If you get back to the first song without hearing one of the new songs, something is wrong.
It should not matter when you do the reshuffle step, whether the iPod is playing or not.
Have you checked using iTunes, to confirm the new batch of songs is on the shuffle? If the iTunes sidebar is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. The shuffle appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES. Click the small triangle to the left of the shuffle's name, to drop down its content list (indented below the shuffle) Click on Music there. The list of songs on the shuffle is shown to the right. Are those 14 new songs on the list?

Please help me with my stupid ipod nano!!

hi well ive just had it "repaired" in the US and they said my software on my ipod was corrput so they apparently fixed it. well just plugged it into my comp and... nothin my ipod wont even turn on. it was flashin the apple sign but not even doing that now!!!
really annoyed, has any1 got any ideas on how to fix it? as i cant find an e-mail address for apple and have tried callin several numbers but never any answer?

Help moving Aperture photos onto iPod

I created an aperture album and moved about 50 photos into it. When I go to the Photo sync part of iTunes, it sees the album and I can sync it, but only 7 of the photos move over (the number in parentheses next to the album indicating the number of photos is also 7). I've quit both programs trying to "reset" the number, but no mater what I do it thinks that there are only 7 photos in that album. What can I do.
I tried to "update previews" which caused my machine to churn for a while. Now it moves 8 photos over to my iPod and they are 8 different photos! I'm confused.

I did. I quitted both programs. Then I went to the album in Aperture and selected all teh photos - a control click I deleted the previews and then regenerated them. Then I quit aperture and loaded itunes. they seemed to appear. Maybe some cache needed to be cleared.
I have auto genereate previews off to save time, I guess I need to generate them for those shots I place in the itunes album. itunes obviously needs those previews.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
