Help! Megastick 527- Windows available space errors!

Hey everyone! I hope you guys can help me, i surely haven't seen a similar thread relating to this, so i guess this one's going to be a new problem ^_^;;
Okay, things go like this: i bought my megastick 527 just four days ago, and everything seemed fine (i haven't even tried updating the firmware, though i think it's updated, v 1.00.06), until i noticed that windows (98 SE, in this case) wasn't calculating the available disk space for the stick correctly. Right now, whereas my Stick shows that there are 41megs available, windows states that there are only 3 megs left! however, if i try selecting every file in the stick individually, it sums up to the right ammount of used space!
To add to that each time i wiped a file from the stick using the stick itself, windows failed to update its available disk space (and the stick showed the right numbers instead...). In fact, it only did when i wiped a file using windows explorer instead...
Well, technical specs: windows 98 SE, i haven't seen any other of the usual Stick problems (no freezes, no crashes, no failed detections...). Firmware version: 1.00.06, according to the site, it's the latest. I've operated the stick normally, following every step, though i haven't formatted it yet, i've used it just in the way i bought it. PC specs: like i said, Windows 98SE, 512 ram, Athlon 2200+, XFX KT400ALH (yes, the dreaded KT400 chip...), USB 2.0 (never had a problem with it...), no onboard videocard (my only one was bought separately, an MSI Ge Force FX 5200)...and i think that's very much it, unless you need something else ^_^;
If you need any extra information, please tell me. I really hope something can be done about it, i'm almost sure there's nothing wrong with the stick itself...either way, thank you guys, in advance! ^_^

Hm...since i won't be able to acccess an XP packed pc in a while, i wonder if i should try formatting the Stick...what programs would you guys suggest? should i use the firmware updating program (since i see it can format without updating the firmware...well, no problems there, since there is no update to mine...) or use windows's disk format (by the way, if this is possible, how should i do it, and should i use fat16 or 32?).
