Help menu help loads After Effects 7 Help
Using Golive CS2, when I go to the help menu and choose Golive Help, After Effects 7 help opens instead, with a dropdown menu that has no listing for Golive Help. I just reinstalled Golive CS2, the update, and a help update to no effect.
First, ensure you have the latest help centre and Golive Help package:

If those don't help:
1. Try deleting the Help Preference file by holding down CTRL+ALT+SHIFT
whilst starting Help.
2. Assuming ahc.exe is located in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center,
delete the following folders
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Cache
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Database
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Preferences
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Search
The only folder under C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData
you should have left is one called packages.
Run ahc.exe
What should happen is that your help centre database should get rebuilt
(you will see progress messages as it process each help package) and
everything should work.

After effects layers do not show
Hi can anyone help me,
I've looked around for lots of tutorials and nobody seems to have this simple problem.
When I create a layer in CS5 it dosnt show the layer. Just a box - usually black.
So, lets guide you a bit through the problem.
I load after effects up.
I click on new composition - I leave all the settings as default.
I click ok.
(It dosnt matter what back ground color I select, the screen is always black when I have clicked ok).
No matter what I do from here nothing happens.
If I click the txt Icon and type something, no matter what color txt I select it cannot be seen.
If I then click the selection tool a box appears around where the txt should be so it is definitly there - but no matter what color I select this is what happens.
If I then click on new layer (again leaving everything defaulted) I get a new layer but I just get like a wireframe X across it.
This happens no matter what I do.
The only way to change this is if I mess around with the roto brush and then go back to the original compisition box I can see my txt against a white and grey checked background!!!!
Can anyone help because ive been trying to use since installing 2 days ago!!!
Thanks in advance.It sounds like you've put the Composition panel in Wireframe view mode.
The reason that using the Roto Brush tool makes a difference is that using the Roto Brush tool forces the Composition panel out of Wireframe mode.
I'm going to guess that this happened because you're new to After Effects and you started choosing menu commands and clicking buttons just to see what they did. The problem is that doing that can get you into situation like this one.

By the way, the Roto Brush tool is actually one of the trickiest and most advanced features in After Effects. I strongly recommend against using it until you've familiarized yourself with the basics. -
Why won't After Effects boot after installing Flash 10?
Since installing Flash 10 this morning, other Adobe Products (After Effects and Audition) fail to initialize media core and won't boot. Photoshop boots okay. Deleting Preference File in AE didn't help. Restored OS to two days ago. No help. Vista 32.
Iinteresting ... while Audition (CS3) was hung-up loading its assets, I thought I'd try to figure out how to uninstall Flash 10 by retracing my steps
during download. Simply, I wanted to know the path for the download so I could find the program and uninstall it. To do this, I followed the same 'download'steps I took previously, planning to stop short of actually installing again, then taking note of the destination folder where Flash was downloaded. When I got to the Adobe site and initaited the download, just prior to authorizing the process, Audition finished loading. Believeing that maybe it had something to do with Active-X control having been in an 'on' or 'off' state, I attempted to load After Effects (CS3) and it, too, loaded! No idea why this occured, but both seem to load correctly now. -
After Effects CS6 Crashing on Win 7 x64 HP z620 Workstation
After Effects CS6 crashes when loading UI interface, I have use CS tool to remove software, completed a clean install and still the same issue. I'm using a HP z620 with 24 cores 12Gig RAM Nvidia Quadro 4000 video card. These spec are well above the requirements for the software. I have also cleared the perfs folder as well. BTW when it also happens when I use any of the CS6 Master Collection software. Could someone please help with this
I know this doesnt help you figure out whats wrong, but its to let you know that a similar system (Z820, 64GB ram, Nvidia GTX 570) has no problem loading After Effects CS6.
I would suggest a complete uninstall using the Adobe Cleaner software and a reinstal of the Creative Suite.

After Effects CS5.5 Wont Open - Application Just Bounces In The Dock.
Hi all,
I appear to have encountered a problem with After Effects... I was working on a project earlier today which usalizes a VideoCopilot plug-in called Element 3D. After a quick break I came back to the project and attempted to load in the 'Free Earth Project' by VideoCopilot. (http://www.videocopilot.net/blog/2012/08/free-earth-project-for-element-3d/). As their site suggests, I had to place a downloaded project folder called 'Earth' into Element 3D's 'My_Models' folder. Immediately after this I tried loading After Effects and encountered the issue. I'm not sure if it's couincidence or directly related which is why I am posting here.
After Effects does nothing but bounce in the Dock. When I right-click the application I'm met with a 'Force Quit' option, and a message saying "Application not responding". I'm on OS X 10.7.4. I'm not able to tell you what version of AE I'm running, only that it's CS5.5, as I cannot lanch it to find out. All other Adobe products work with no problem.
I have already contacted the support team at VideoCopilot and they have sent me an updated build of Element 3D in an attempt to resolve the issue, unfortunately though this did not work. Addiitonally, I have tried booting into Safe-Mode and tried to launch the application from there, as well as using Disk-Utility to 'Repair Permissions'. All of these steps have failed to get AE working again.
If anyone knows of a way to fix this I would be most grateful. I'm working to a very tight deadline and am afraid that I will miss it. Additionally, if anyone has any fixes that doesn't require reinstalling applications that'll be a bonus!

All operate fine, except for After Effects and Audition. I can pass on Audition, but I disparately need After Effects. It will not load. I use a Mac Pro, at 3 GHz, with 3.5 Terabyes of RAM. I have downloaded After Effects four time and the trial vesion once. I have gone through three of you technicians — one of them suggest loading and trying the trial version. That doesn't work either.
Every time I try to load After Effects, it doesn not load and I get the same error.
Is there any way to load AE or will I have to drop the Cloud and buy a hard copy?

Downloading After Effects: What is AdobeCrashDaemon?
I have tried three times to load After Effects. I keep getting the message "After Effects CC Install. PLease close the following applications to continue: -AdobeCrashDemon." I get this message when 50% of After Effects is loaded. I can't figure out what this Crash Daemon is and how to stop it. What do I do?
Dsmeyers which operating system are you using? Have you closed all open Adobe Creative applications? Did you check the Task Manager/Activity Monitor?

Hello, Im trying to install After Effects CS5.5 (trial) on my computer. The installer works perfectly but when I try to load After effects up straight after the install I get an error telling me to reinstall which I have already tried plenty of times including on both of my different harddrives. If you guy's know any solution for this problem or can point me in the right direction that would be great.
Chris001.123 I would recommend beginning with the Adobe Support Advisor. It will automatically analyze your installation logs and look for a solution. Beyond that the document Troubleshoot CS5 and CS5.5 installation with install logs details the steps required to review your installation logs. I believe this is the document Mylenium was referring too.

I am working with a project that is 1500 X 1050 (approx) - it contains some camera moves and some page peel effects on pictures - and it is running unbearably slow...
I have enabled Disk caching to a separate SATA drive - also I notice that when I am running CS3 - is saying it only recognizes 4 gigs of RAM.
I have also enable Multiprocess for frames. Now, I am not even close to a regular user of After Effects, so this might come as obvious, but what can I do here? Is there a set of steps to help me speed this up? I did take a look at

I haven't tried JPG yet but I will. I want to have something that I can output to DVD with decent quality. Right now .mov looks good, but will try the JPGS.
Another thing to take into account is the writing speed of the file on your HDD. If you are rendering on the same disk where the sources are, or on a USB external drive, it will take more time than rendering on an internal sata/e-stata drive or a raid array. In image sequence, this is more important as AE have to write/close a file for each frame, and depending on your configuration (windows,mac, antivirus, timemachine...) it can make a huge difference.
I have a separate SATA drive for disk caching. I did that right away. I was wondering about the memory caching though in the preferences panel - I am not sure if I should just leave the defaults for that :

Instead of using the drop shadow effect, right clic on your layer in the time line menu and select "Layer style > Drop shadow". It will have the same behavior/options than the Photoshop counterpart. It's better and faster than the drop shadow effect.

A good way to know what step takes more time than the other (and a good way to figure out what part of the process you have to optimise) is twirling down, in the render queue the "current render" line. It will tell you for every frame, what the rendering is actually doing. The longer the step, the longer it's name will stay on screen.

Can you tell me if the comp size makes a difference when I am rendering out 720X540? The main challenge for me is that I have about another 10 minutes to add to the project. I don't want this to take me 2 hours to render out 15 minutes!
Well it probably will. 2 hours of rendering for 15minutes is not that bad. You're doing motion graphics, not editing. Also, if your pictures are jpeg, it add computational time, because the render have to decompress it in memory in order to work with it. If you have disk space, you'd rather like to convert all your jpeg to uncompressed tiff files, so the render engine will just have to load it in memory in order to press it.

I am going to OC my Q6600 slight, to see if there is any effect. Another issue I am running into is that AE says my Graphics card is not an OPENGL card. But the package says it is!

Yes, I have the newest drivers (it is a new card and I had to go to the NVIDIA site just to get them. The problem is that I have posted on the NVIDIA board days ago about this issue and no one has given me an answer yet concerning this. I just checked again with AE - it says. "NO COMPATIBLE OPENGL CARD FOUND"
It is an Nvidia 9600 GSO 768Mg video card. -
Help! Aspyr Games Not Loading After Updating To Mac OS X 10.4.11
I can't seem to get my Sims 2 game to load after installing the latest update. It will bounce once in the dock then disappear.
I called Aspyr and they said it was a problem with Apple's update, not their game(s) or company.
I was told to see if I could update to 10.5.5 and that this should fix things. How would I do that, and first of all, would that be a good idea? Is it even possible? I'm (clearly) running Tiger.
I'm very confused because I haven't been able to connect to the internet for about a month and finally installed the Apple updates and then I started having all these problems. I'm not sure what to do!

As you have observed, you are running Tiger and the company told you to upgrade to Leopard, which I agree isn't very helpful unless you want to upgrade (is it worth it?).

After effects crashing unpredictable, please help if you can?
Only be happening for a week or so. seems to be related to blurs in adjustment layers. ill be using blurs to spot blur certain anatomy for a tv show. sometimes I track and blur with mocha sometimes manual track. ill be adjusting a track or a mask and ill get one of several unusual chrashes/errors. usually, its this: <6896> <BEEp_InitSoundPB> <0> Vid rate ratios min, max: 1, 1. . If I reload the project and delete and rebuild the adjusment layer blurs (Box blur and mosaic) and it will render fine. but this happens enough to be a considerable time waster and is interferring with my work. I've looked up the errors online and tried any suggestions i could find (although it seems this error appears for many differ3ent reasons?). I've deleted media cache, changed cache drives, reinstalled video card drivers deleted preferences, turned off open GL, run diagnostics on my CPU. RAM and GPU, all turned up fine. The only thing I havent tried is uninstalling and reinstalling AFX which i want to leave for a last resort as I have no time! Also, I have CC and CC14 installed (just use cs6 more often because of plugins) and when I load the project into CC and scrub or render I get the same problem, again until I delete and rebuild Adjustment layer. I even collected and moved the project onto a mac laptop and it gets the same error!!
I apologize if I'm not using the correct terminology, I did in fact teach myself after effects, if that's what you mean. This is the first time I've encountered this particular error. Let me see if I can describe it better. The show I work for often requires me to blur out certain objects or anatomical parts for approval by standards and practices. Usually my workflow is to either manually, or with mocha AE track the offending area with a mask applied to an adjustment layer that has a box blur and a mosiac filter applied to it. The problem arose last week when I went back to a project created the week prior to add more blur to an existing comp. I started to adjust the blur and while scrubbing through timeline after effects crashed, giving me the following error <19665> AE.blitpipe <2> making new context. (or a variation of that, unfortunately, I didn't write down the initial error as at first I thought it was just an annomoly). When I reloaded the project I kept getting the same crash/error until I removed the adjustment layer and re tracked and blurred. I tried the same comp on a mac laptop and it got the error as well. I managed to get the render out in time and continued to work in after effects problem free until another blur project arose. this project had 10 shots. I followed my usual workflow and had finished all 10 comps and as going back through to tweak some masks when the error occurred on comp 4. same problem. also it seems as though whenever i reach the same frame range in the timeline is when it crashes, and its not always on the same frame, just in the same general area on the timeline. this happens sometimes during scrubbing, but always during render or RAM preview. I can open the original project where the error occurred and still get the same error in the same area along the timeline. Honestly, Im wondering if I have a corrupted DLL and just need to reinstall after Effects., but the question remains, if that IS the case, why would the same project give me the same errors in each version of after effects I own? (CS6, CC & CC2014) This is why I say corrupted project... not sure what else to call it?

also different faulted modules when I click on details, sometimes ADM.dll sometimes wintab32.dll.. not consistent at all. This doesn't happen evertime I apply a blur layer, its just seemed to occur when time was most precious and I really needed to get renders out! haha, well thats what it feels like anyway. my wor around is now to immediately delete the problem adjustment layer, retrack and blur, but I'm hoping to find an answer for this irritating puzzle. I hate not understanding why this is happening.
I appreciate the help on this. I will probably reinstall after effects or perhaps even windows once I find the time, but time is hard to come by.

I have After Effects CS6 and I have a file running. I have 6 comps going in that file due to small animation clips for a big project. I have them set up and literally almost to render. But now every time I load it up, comp 3 loads up. I click comp 2 and 1 they work! If it pick comp 4,5 or 6 it tells me that AE has crashed and I can save before the crash. I really REALLY need these to work. I'm freaking out due to I have this project and its literally due like Tuesday. Please help me. I'm really worried and stressed!
