Help menu in Swing

Hi all,
can anyone tell me how to create an Help menu in Swing??
i mean, like the Help menu options that you can see in Windows.
I mean, again, by clicking on the Help option, you should see Contents etc..
is it possible to do it in Swing? if so, how?

There's no class called "HelpMenu" or anything like that, you'd have to create your own using tabbed panes and JTrees.

OSX help menu search not activating menu items in Photoshop CC

In Photoshop CS6, about 200 times a day I'd hit Command+Shift+/ to bring up the Help menu focused on the search field, just like I do in all of my apps. I'd type a couple letters from a menu item somewhere in the giant tangle of menu options, down arrow to the match, and hit Enter to action it.
I can still do this in Illustrator CC (and everywhere), but it's gone in Photoshop CC – it all works up to hitting Enter, which just closes the menu without actioning anything.
This is so much faster than mousing through the menu, so much more centralized and extensible than keyboard shortcuts. I miss it.

I've contacted Adobe twice, on Photoshop.com (1) and on their support forums (2), and their engineer, Chris Cox, is drawing a line in the sand. He says their team hasn't done anything to provoke this bug, and that it's an Apple issue. Further, he says he can't (or he won't) deal with Apple's engineering directly, and that we users should do so through these forums. So, here's my swing.

Naw, I got nothing, I didn't even have a search field. Like, empty space, nothing to be found... HOWEVER. I reinstalled PS CC and got the search field back, then changed my shortcut to ⌘⇧+ system wide, and bam.. it worked.
I'm happy.

Help Menu Hard Copy

I'm sure this has come up before, but I couldn't find anything searching the forum:
I don't have a printer yet w/my G5, and if I did I probably wouldn't want to print the nearly 1000 page FCEHD help menu. But I sure would like to peruse it from the comfort of the couch or the porch swing. Any tips?

Some of us do print the manual.
Maybe you could take the PDF file to someone who has a laser printer and fork out some money for their services.
I have a large binder, punch holes in the paper and create an indexed manual. The PDF on screen works just the same, if you like reading computer screens.
I hate reading computer screens that's why I print 'em up.

Adobe AE CS4 Help Menu nonfunctional

AE Help, Scripting Help, Expression Reference, Animation Presets, Keyboard Shortcuts are all nonfunctional under the Help menu. Registration, Deactivation etc. are functional. This AE is with CS4 Premium Production on Windows Vista. This has been a problem since initial installation. It remained a problem on reinstallation a year and a half later. Is there a file that did not load from the disk that I should be aware of? I was hoping for updates to correct this but that has not happened.

I resolved the problem in CS4 by uninstalling and reinstalling AE. Evidently when I installed it from disk it didn't all install. The AE I have is part of a suite (PP) and I probably reinstalled the whole thing. CS5 has the Help pdf popping up when I am searching from the application window. This is a hindrance. See my problem for December 2011.

SharePoint 2013 "Help Menu" not working (Sorry, the page you're looking for can't be found)

The Built in SharePoint 2013 Help Menu (?) on our Enterprise Farm for both the sites and Central
Admin does not work.
On Central Admin help the error comes back as: "Sorry, the page you're looking for can't be found".
The site collections Help menu gets the error :
"Unfortunately, help seems to be broken...
There aren't any help collections in the current language for the site you're using."
We have installed on all servers in the farm:

We are only using Default English (US) language packs.
In the directory of

there are cab files.
There are no pending upgrades on any SharePoint or SQL server, all other SharePoint components are working
normally.

I'm interested in getting the local help to work while this is offline, I saw the following in an article, did you do this and it still does not work for you?

I currently have iTunes version 7 and I need to upgrade to version 10. I am afraid of losing all my music if I just download 10 and when I use the "Check for updates" in the version 7 help menu, it tells me the server cannot be contacted.

When I tried the "check for updates" under the version 7 "help" menu, it said it could not contact the update server. I am afraid if I just download version 10 from the website, it will wipe out my music library. What should I do to upgrade?

Back up your music and install from the website. You probably won't need to do this, but if your library is erased, restore it from the backup.

When I try to update my phone to ios 7 it says i need to update my itunes to 11.0.5, when i check my current version in help menu under check for updates it says I have the current 11.0.5 version.

There is some kind of error. The new version of iTunes is 11.1, which although is not available via updates, it can be downloaded from the Apple website here:

After updating iTunes to the newest version you should be able to update your iOS

Can you access that address on the machine hosting planning?
The file structure on the web server depending on which app server you use should be something like \Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning\help\en\hp_information_map\hp_information_map.html

CS 5.0 launches the internet browser. > TO SLOW I DONT WANT THIS.

Error when opening Find Examples under the Help menu

Today when I tried opening the Find Examples under the Help menu in LabVIEW 6.1, it would not open correctly. The Find Examples window appears and then an error window appears on top of it with the following description -
"Error 1 occurred at open or create file (function 1)."
Then ther is a list of possible reasons.
I have had this version of LabVIEW installed for over 6 months and had no problems until today. I tried running the installation program for LabVIEW and repairing LabVIEW but had no success.
What should I do next? Is there a file/s I can delete and then install manually?

I've never actually heard of this error ocurring with the Examples Finder before. If it continues, I would probably just reinstall LabVIEW. That should clear up the problem.

Help with the help menu

I´m a big fan of the help menu function. I use it all the time in all the Adobe applications.
Suddenly, it just stop working in InDesign. The others still work.
The way it´s supposed to work is that if you know the name of a command but not the keyboard shortcut or where the command is located – you start typing the name of the command in the help menu. If you type "convert to" the help menu suggest "convert to profile" and others. If you click a suggestion InDesign should execute the command.
That was before. Now it just plays the system error sound and does nothing.
Does anyone have a tip for me on how to get my beloved help menu back on track?

How do I publish to a folder? Help Menu doesn't say.

I have checked the iWeb Help menu, the "Welcome to iWeb" pages that I printed out, and the "iWeb 1.1 Help" that I printed out. No source answers the question that I have about publishing to a folder.
When I go to the iWeb File > Publish to a folder, I am told to write the URL of that folder. But, how do I get a folder with a URL? In the first place, I thought that publishing to a folder meant, a folder on my Desktop, away from the Internet, but if a URL is required, obviously I thought wrong.

Hi Lorna,
All you have to do is to navigate to your desired folder in the file dialog window, like any other Mac application. You can even click on the "New Folder" button in the bottom of the window to create a new folder.
Don't worry about the URL text field. This field only needs to be filled out if you are going to be uploading your website to a 3rd party web host and is only important so that the RSS feeds and/or podcast URLs are generated correctly for 3rd party hosting purposes. You are going to be publishing your pages to .Mac, so all of this will be taken care of for you.
All you are using the "Publish to Folder" option for is to keep a local copy of your website so that you can preview it before putting it up on .Mac. Just select the folder where you want iWeb to save your website files and click OK. Again, just ignore the URL field.

I've downloaded Firefox 4.0 six times but when I choose About Mozilla Firefox fromt he Help Menu it still shows version 3.6.16 - why isn't 4.0 downloading?

I've keep downloading Firefox 4.0 but I don't think it is working because when I choose ABOUT MOZILLA FIREFOX from the HELP menu, it still show version 3.6.16. I haven't notice any increase of speed either. For quite a while also whenever I click the icon in the lower task bar to start up Firefox, the round cursor icon jumps around rather than rotating smoothly. I've tried many times to contact Firefox but only this morning did I finally find a way to email you. What is the problem that it isn't running smoothly? I double click the icon and it takes forever for Firefox homepage to come on the screen. I usually get impatient while waiting so I click the icon again. So when it does finally show the Firefox Home Page, I usually get 3 or 4 copies of it on top of each other. Why is it moving so slow. I was glad to see the 4.0 version but I can't seem to get it properly installed. What should I do?

Firefox 4 beta versions install in a separate program folder (e.g. C:\Program files\Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta 10) and doesn't replace the current Firefox 3.6.x release. 
So both versions are installed and you need to make sure that you click the desktop shortcut with to launch the Firefox version that you want. 
If you do not have a shortcut to launch the Firefox 4 version then you need to create one.

Hi Lecia,
You have several choices.
Use the first set of controls in the Format Bar. One of these is a Color well (red in the image). Select the cell(s) in which you want the text coloured, then click the well to open its Color palette, and choose your colour.
Use the Text Inspector. Open the inspector, click the Text button (T), and use the tools there (similar to the set in the Format Bar).
Press command-T to open the Fonts Window. This offers a few more options than are available in the Inspector or the Format bar.
Regarding "Help": I'd recommend using the Numbers '09 User Guide, which you can download via the Help menu. Easier to search, and easier reading than the individual Help articles. search 'text color' to quickly get to instructions on applying colour to text.
