Help, mini cant stay on for longer than 2 minutes
Hi guys,
I bought a brand new mac mini about 3 months ago and until this morning it worked like a charm. Suddenly today while in Imovie my system shuts down (like someone just unplugged the wire from the wall). Boggled, I power it on and write it off like nothing then 10 minutes later, it shuts off again. I power it on again and this time and every time after it will only power on , go to desktop and then shut off. All within 2 minutes... Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong here?
I would greatly appreciate any help on this issue.

It has to be said that the mini is designed to control fan operation itself, and other than in extraordinary situations, does so very well. Given that your mini is less than a week old, any misbehavior such as shutting itself off or the fan not appearing to run correctly would be best dealt with by returning the system to Apple for the problem to be resolved by service or replacement. You should not, with a new system, be contemplating trying to deal with this by juggling functions that are best left to MacOS to control.

My WiFi won't stay connected for longer than 5 minutes!
My problem is that my connection is okay for roughly 5 minutes and then the connection just disappears for no reason whilst Airport is still showing as connected. If I run Network Diagnostics it tells me that I have a working connection and to check if I typed the address correctly. If I then turn Airport off and then on again I will get the connection back for the same amount of time until it goes again.
And to add to the annoyance of this problem is that tomorrow my connection might be absolutely fine. But then 5 days later, out of the blue the problem can start up again. There is no consistency to this issue, its very unpredictable and a huge pain in the ***.
Any ideas? I have looked at similar solutions on this website and in regards to IP address and other things that have been mentioned I am set up correctly. I have had this problem before and it was easy to fix just by resetting the Airport box manually and then creating a new wireless network and reconnecting. But I have tried that many times now and the problem still persists. Also, all phones and the 2 other computers in my house (one iMac purchased last year and a PC) do not have this problem. This is an older iMac running OS X version 10.4.11.
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated!The problem is still persisting intermittently. Its incredibly annoying as the connection has been fine for a couple of weeks now, but today I get home from work and it's happening again. Unfortunately your solution did not work so I have included screenshots of the Airport and TCP/IP tabs of my network preferences if that helps.

How can I make the lock screen stay active for longer than 5 seconds?
I'd like to have the lock screen stay active for longer than 5 seconds. Too many times I've not seen a notification come through. I'd like to have it stay on for at least 5 minutes for shutting down. I'm suprised a "lock screen delay" option isn't a general setting available to unjailbreaked phones.

My iphoto quites unexpectedly everytime I open it and says closes while using the eOkaoFr.dylib plugin. Does anyone know how to fix this? iphoto won't stay open for more than 1 minute at a time. Help anyone?
Is there a crash log? If so post the first 100 or so lines o fit

Adobe Media Encoder CS6 hangs when "hidden" or when paused for longer than a minute
When I hide Adobe Media Encoder while it's encoding, it always hangs (ie. I can't unhide it). Also, if I pause an encode for longer than a minute, AME freezes and I have to force quit. Has this happened to anyone else and have you found a fix for this?
Mac OSX 10.9 (this issue also happened when I was on 10.8)

ThanksI know OSX 10.9 Mavericks introduced a power saving feature called App Nap which is meant to slow down applications that it determins are inactive (could also happen with minimized applications). This would mostly likely be the problem if your issue only happens in OSX 10.9... but if it happens in OSX 10.8 then it I'm puzzled.
Did you check the Console for any error messages?
Anyways, try disabling App Nap for AME first...
Go to your Applications folder
Expand the Adobe Media Encoder CC folder
Right-click on "Adobe Media Encoder CC.app" and select Get Info
Add a checkmark beside "Prevent App Nap"
Restart the application
You could also do the same for other Adobe applications.

Contact Apple Support or an Apple Store if you have one near you. Your battery needs to run through the diagnostic test. You can also try to put the device into Recovery mode as well and rsetore the iOS software, and set up the device as new. Follow this article on Recovery Mode:

Thanks so much for your inquiry! There hasn't been a software update for the Droid X since 2/16/12.
I would like for you to put the device in Safe Mode http://bit.ly/OAXCYh and then check your email to see if it still turns off.
Safe Mode temporarily disables all applications that have been installed via the Android Market. Performing this troubleshooting step is necessary to determine whether a 3rd party application is the cause of an Operating System / Application issue.
I want you to try that to see if there is something else affecting why the phone battery goes low only when you check email.

FCP 5 won't stay open for more than a minute
First I upgraded from Quicktime to Quicktime Pro to convert .avi's to .mov's. That worked for about three weeks then suddenly all converted files played without any sound. Now after editing an mp4 on FCP I decided to upgrade the media to avi, so I upgraded the mp4 to avi using VisualHub, whose output plays fine in Quicktime (with sound), but while editing it together in FCP I've started to have problems while trying to integrate FCP with LiveType. I have to save after every change to the sequence. After integrating a LiveType file into FCP I found FCP shuts down after running for a minute, regardless of what I'm doing with it.
I'm currently working on an iMac Intel Duo and hope this doesn't rise out of a non-universal version of FCP running on an intel processor (perhaps a problem with Rosetta). If so I might have to upgrade to FCP 5.1
Any ideas?How would I check the pixel dimensions?
With the mp4 they were copied off of a dvd with a program called Handbrake (it copies DVD's onto your iPod), though often whatever I get out of Handbrake I also have to put through a program called moviepod (which converts media files into mp4 format and once the conversion's done it appears on your iTunes browser).
I recently purchased a DVR which can load DVD's into the computer through multiple formats but then the DVD was rented and I figured I just as well use the media I already had in my computer.
Oh, and by the way, Thank you for the help so far. Though I'm afraid there's no clear resolution in sight I appreciate your apt attention.
The avi media is just the mp4 media converted through VideoHub (I've had no luck with either .avi or mp4 files using Compressor). The problem with editing may rely in my choice of converting programs and not FCP at all (the truth is I don't know much about these programs, outside what I use them to do (convert media) ). -
Router won't stay connected for more than 45 minutes
I have a BEFW11S4 v. 4 (firmware 1.52.02) wireless router that I've been using for years. Recently (i.e., within the past week), it has been dropping its internet connection about every 45 minutes. The network set-up is: an XP desktop connecting via an access point (Linksys WUSB11 v. 2) and a Vista laptop connecting via its internal wireless card. I also have a Vonage-supplied Linksys router running VoIP (RT31P2) that's connected to the wireless router. The cable modem is a Scientific Atlanta DPC2100 series.
The routers/modem are on a bookshelf in the middle of a wall all by themselves. There is a DECT 6.0 cordless phone across the room (as far away as possible from the router).
When the router is connected, everything works with no problems whatsoever. Then, after about 45 minutes, the connection drops from everything. After unplugging the wireless router for about 30 seconds then plugging it back in, it's good to go for another 45 minutes. I've tried changing the wireless channel with no luck. I've also cycled the entire system (*several* times. ugh!) The SSID is not "linksys." My internet provider did recently change to Comcast, but the problems I've been having don't align with the change in providers.
Some quirks that I've noticed is that the Vista laptop can see the network, but can't connect, saying it received no response from the router when I run the "Diagnose the problem" function. The XP machine responds in a similar manner; it has my network on the list, but just hangs when it tries to connect. Also, sometimes the VoIP router is affected (i.e., the phone line disconnects), but other times it's not.
I'm extremely frustrated at this point, and ready to chuck everything out the window. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this type of problem?Well if you are able to go online directly with the modem...connect modem>>>>route>>>>pc....if its a cable modem then reset the router for 30 secs in such a way that power light is blinking on the router.Now, power cycle the complete power cycle...ie., unplug the power cable from the modem & from the router...now plug in the power cable to the modem once all the lights are solid green you could plug in the power cable to the router....& you would be online

While jogging, I want to 'like' Pandora songs, but must I keep unlocking?!?! - really frustrating. I could keep phone unlocked for entire jog under old system.

IPhoto won't stay open for more than 20 seconds
I have tried following the three key steps to solving this problem (clearing the prefrences thing, checking with a new account and the disk utility permissions). Nothing is working. My iPhoto will not stay open for longer than 20 seconds. In other accounts i create it works just fine. I have had my Mac for 2 years but only used iPhoto once before.

"Unsupported Image Format" error ONLY on exposures longer than 4 minutes
When importing my photos to Aperture, I get an "Unsupported Image Format" error, but ONLY on images where my shutter was open for longer than 3 minutes or so. I'm looking at Aperture right now, and I've got one shot that was 184 seconds long - no problem. Next shot, 240 seconds - ERROR. I shoot everything in RAW and have no trouble with any of my "normal" exposure shots - thousands of them. Error shows up only with the shots where I've locked the shutter open for more than 4 minutes.
What the heck is up? I'm *assuming* it's a problem with Digital Camera RAW in OSX, as Preview.app is also unable to display the image. Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4 have no trouble with these images. Even in Aperture, I see a low-res preview of these "error" images for about two seconds before the error message replaces it.

OSX 10.8.4This problem, unsupported image format for long exposures, has been reported on and off for some time now.
Its not an easy search to phrase but for example I found this Aperture 3 will not recognize RAW files obtained from long ... at dpreview from a while back.
Sorry to say there are no resolutions that I can find. You might want to try and get in touch with Apple. They don;t make it easy to get software support even on there 'pro apps' but if you start with the normal Mac support number you might get to someone who can help.
Additionally you can leave feedback by going to Aperture->Provide Aperture Feedback. There is a setting to report bugs.
Sorry I don;t have anything better to report.

Hold down your Shift key while launching the Organizer to get to the Catalog Manager. Highlight your catalog at the bottom of the window, and choose "Repair". Repeat, using "Optimize".
If that doesn't solve it, from the Catalog Manager, create a new catalog (with a different name).
