Help - missing "External" plug-in for Audio Instruments

I am trying to set up some external MIDI devices. I understand that the "external" plug-in is available to audio instruments for this purpose. However, when I try to select the plugin in the I/O area for an audio instrument, it does not exist. I have researched this on the web, and cannot find anybody else having the same problem. I have tried verifying permissions and deleting the preferences, but it makes no difference. As far as I can tell, all of the other plugins are available.
Im running Logic 7.1.1. Can anybody provide an answer (that does not involve re-installing or re-imaging), or give me a clue how to go about troubleshooting this?
Thanks very much.
Nick.

Do you have audio inputs enabled on your audio card configuration app?

My computer keeps saying I'm missing a plug-in for adope reader that I've already downloaded numerous times. What else can I try?

For Flash, could you try downloading the "full" installers from this page:
    https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
In the first table, there are two rows for Windows: one for the ActiveX control for IE, and one for the plugin for Firefox. You might want to grab both. And try the .msi files instead of the .exe files to see whether those work better.
    Will either of those install?
It's odd that on a newly rebuilt system your More System Details shows that you have a user.js file, which is an optional settings files used to override your previous session settings. This is not part of the standard Firefox installation, so if you did not create that file yourself, you may want to investigate or delete it. This article has more information on that: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].

  • Missing extensions/plug-ins for Safari.

So, I recently had a virus/malware scare and to take care of it (which I did) I got rid of all extensions/plug ins for Safari.
I've currently only got Adobe Flash Player, and nothing else which is really hindering me. I've looked all over but I can't find out what the plug-ins or extensions I need are.
The most recent issue was something about Audio Midi when I couldn't play an audio thing online while looking for guitar chords stuff.
After that gave it a shot by asking Apple, but the closest Apple store is too far to be worth driving to and I can't afford $50 or however much it is to get the info/links/whatever I need.

There's no need to install Safari extensions if you don't wan to, however, there might want to check out the extensions gallery. You may find something useful.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Safari Extensions ...
To avoid malware, open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General
Make sure:  Mac App Store and identified developers  is selected.
If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon to proceed.

  • No plug-ins for audio tracks other than 1-4

I have a problem. I am wanting to record mulitple audio tracks and use plug-ins, this is fine for tracks 1-4, however any other audio tracks don't have the 'R' button in between the solo and mute buttons and the channel strip panel on the left hand side has no inserts, sends I/O button or anything!
I called the logic helpline but they were no good at all, if anything they were down right rude towards me so I wouldn't sugegst phoning them any time soon!
Anybody got any suggestions that'd be great as I am currently doing my university coursework and this is kinda vital!

Clang - you do come across as rude. If the person
wanted to read the manual - yep you guessed it - they
wouldve already done that. Telling users on here to
RTFM is useless, and is pointless as well. Forums are
all about helping each other, some people just want
to get their answers this way, and there's really
nothing wrong with that. Its the spirit of being
supportive - thats what this place is all about.
Please dont tell anyone else here to RTFM, that
doesnt work at all mate, and comes across as hostile.
I see a pattern evolving from the mist...you are afraid of the letters:
    RTFM!!!
Now,ask yourself, how did your post telling some other guy off about the RTFM,help the OP?? In no way. That's how.I might be rude,I might have a sarastic sense of humour, but I never tell posters to not read the manual. It's there for a reason. Many trees died so that the manual could be there for them.At least respect those poor dead trees.
    (More sense of humour...) :P

  • Seeking advice regarding the purchase of an external hard drive for audio

    Hi,
    Two questions:
    1. I have 2 firewire ports on my iMac. Currently I have an Edirol FA-66 plugged into one of these and the other is free. These ports appear to be identical. Can I plug a firewire 800 hard drive into these or am I limited to firewire 400?
    2. Is there any practical difference between a firewire 400 aud a USB 2 hard drive?
    Thanks

    rainguitar wrote:
I'm assuming, by your response, that there is little point in getting a FW800 drive so I will get a FW400 drive.
That's a toss-up, depending on your future plans and current budget. My iMac is FW400-only, but I just ordered a USB/FW800 external enclosure. A little future-proofing, and the price difference didn't break my budget. OTOH, an essentially identical unit with USB/FW400 costs $30 less, and will have exactly the same performance on a FW400 machine (or on any iMac connected to an FA-66).
    USB/FW400 @ $50: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817198004
    USB/FW800 @ $80: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817198006
That FA-66 might be just what I'm looking for -- not a pro, just a hobbyist, like yourself. Any recommendations on vendors? I've had good luck in the past with MusiciansFriend -- but I haven't shopped for musical electronics in years.

  • Mixer device install???? pavilio dv8000 could someone help me? need it for audio ..

I have a problem is that my pavilio hp dv8000 and installed on the train all right drivers and everything but do not want to listen to the audio and tell me when looking to install the mixer device can someone help me I can do ?????

The log you posted is not a crash log but a console log.  Crash logs are found in the CrashReporter section of the Console utility's data.  You also need to tell us whether you are experiencing a crash or a kernel panic.  And, you need to provide more information on what you are doing when the crash occurs, what applications you are running, etc.
I would also suggest you try booting into Safe Mode and operating for a while to see if the crashes stop.  If they do then that indicates a problem within your Home folder.
It would also be useful to boot up with none of the applications running that you normally use.  Then run only one of your applications at a time to see if crashes occur.  This may help narrow down the problem to a specific application.

  • Ideal external FW harddrive for audio

I am building a quality (humble) recording studio off of an iMac G5, and need an external harddrive for fast accessing/processing of audio data. I will not be using this harddrive for backup purposes.
    These are my specifications:
    -- firewire
    -- 100-200GB
    -- Oxford 911 chipset
-- less than 9ms seek time
-- at least 2MB buffer, greater if possible
    -- min 7200RPM
    -- ideally less than $200
If you're curious, I am using ProTools M-Powered and possibly Logic Express.
Do you have any models that you highly recommend or that I should avoid? Thank you, your advice is greatly appreciated!
    ~Nicholas

    96kHz * 24bit * stereo = 4608 kilobits per second
4608 / 8 bits per byte = 576 kilobytes per second per track
24 tracks will require 13.8 megabytes per second of read/write throughput
Either can handle 13.8MB/s fine (most drives do 40-70MB/s for single files, or 25-30MB/s for multiple files). The LaCie fw800 interface capability is higher than the drive inside it. Try both and see which open/loads faster. Open Activity Monitor when working inside your DAW and see if the CPU usage is higher when working from the fw device vs. the internal drive. I'd probably use the internal drive, backup to the FW, then ship the FW drive off to the mastering house.

  • IMac Optimization for Audio Recording

    Good Afternoon iMac Community,
I recently made the switch to the new intel based iMac and tried my best to load it up in preparation for doing some intensive audio processing. Specs of my Imac are 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo, 4GB RAM, and 320 HD. Was wondering if anyone had any links or sugestions that could help with optimizing my iMac for audio recording? Maybe things like disabling the internet capability and or losing all the internal sounds and etc.
When I am running Logic and Reason together I hear a skip when the loop comes back around and it is all off beat. My DAW audio interface is a Tascam FW1884 and is fairly decent when it comes to latency. I may need to adjust the latency parameters a bit though. Any information would be helpful.
    Thanks

Hi and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Disabling the internet capability and concerning yourself with the built in sounds will make no noticeable difference. I have been running audio on Macs since the very first version of Cubase VST on a PowerMac 7100, and those things haven't got in the way.
Optimizing your system for audio would for me include an external drive with a Firewire800 connection (assuming you have one if it's newish!) for the majority of your recording. Seriously reduces system disk fragmentation. I would (and did) get a de-fragmentation program. I use iDefrag. It is very thorough, although not super fast.
    http://www.coriolis-systems.com/iDefrag.php
As for your problem with Logic and Reason, I would try the Logic forum with details of which version of Logic and Reason etc. Your fine Tascam interface will not be responsible for the loop problems. It is the 'communication' between Logic and Reason. I don't and haven't used Reason (not my bag) so can't help you as much as maybe others.
    Karn.

  • Power Mac DaulCore 2.3 - USER FEEDBACK FOR AUDIO PLEASE?

    Hello everyone,
I'm interested in replacing my Powerbook G4 17" 1.33 model for the new Power Mac DualCore 2.3. I plan on using this in a Pro Audio situation.
(I'm not interested in the Quad model, because of the price and the problems other users are having with Pro Tools LE 7 and other audio apps.).
I would be using the DualCore 2.3 with my existing setup, which consists of the Digi 002, External Firewire drives for Audio, Pro Tools LE7, Live 5, Reason 3, etc.
I'd like to get feedback before I purchase the computer and find out how this computer works with Pro Tools ( amount of RTAS plugins, Audio Tracks, speed, performance etc). As well as how the DualCore is working with the other above mentioned programs.
Being that I'm working in a small environment, I would also like to get feedback on how the computer itself is working (fan noise, noise in general, speed, performance etc.).
I know that the computer hasn't been out for that long, but I'd like to get one of the last, so called PowerMacs before Apple switches to Intel.
I'd like to replace my existing computer in the next few months so that I can get to work.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  • Plug in for mac Book Pro is missing

I was looking for some Lyrics about Peru's Christmas and I found a website: www.musicaperuana.com When I want to hear that music it appears an ad telling me
that the Plug in - is missing. I can't play that music (midi)
    MacBook Pro
Recently I updated to OSX Yosemite 10.
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    Macintosh HD
Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
Please help. Thank you so much.

    Hi Ca-GC,
You may have to use another browser that has an audio/midi plug for it.
    See this thread
Re: Midi plug-in for OS 10.8.5?
However, if you use a different browser, open up one of your files from that site
    http://www.musicaperuana.com/english/song.htm
say with Firefox or with SeaMonkey, then select one the song styles on the left hand side you should get an option and save the file in Garageband.
That seems to work fine.  Not ideal, but it works.
There are other audio/plug in options for Firefox and for SeaMonkey but I assume you have Garageband so this should work for you.

  • Missing plug in for Safari.

Two weeks ago safari just stopped showing parts of my automobilemag, caranddriver, motortrend and roadandtrack web pages. Says that I am missing a plug in. Tried to update my version of adobe software and eventually removed it and reinstalled and still i'm missing the plugin and cant see these pages. Anyone encountered this issue. It was out of the blue with no manual system changes or new software installs. Using windows 7 64 bit and all software on the computer is up to date including the 64 bit beta versions of adobe.

Since you posted in the Safari for Mac forum, I assume you are referring to the Safari browser that runs on Mac.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab.
Make sure Java and Enable plug-ins are selected.
On the other hand, if you mean Safari on an iPad, I'm not sure which plugin the game requires.
It would help if you posted the link to the game.
