Help Missing movie.  DVD not burning as shown in Preview

I created a DVD Project using 2 movies and one slideshow (separate buttons). Plays perfectly in the Preview within IDVD. I burned the disc, watched on the DVD Player, and the button that should have the first movie, plays the second movie. The other two buttons work correctly. Can't find the other movie anywhere.
I checked the Project Info. and it shows the correct asset listed for the missing first movie, also shows that it has encoded. The map view within IDVD looks correct also.
I have 17.23GB available still on my PowerBook.
Any ideas???
I know that I should make a disc image and check that first. I was just trying to do it quickly as a gift. I'll check the disc image next.

Well....I fixed it, but don't know how necessarily.
I did the following....
1. repaired permissions.
2. Told IDVD to look for movies on Desktop (where movie was)
3. Deleted the old broken movie button & added the movie button again.
4. Made a "Disk image", checked it, and burned from there through Disk Utility.

    Hi,
First, try the automated fixit from Microsoft on the link below.
    Windows 7
    Vista
Check if the drive will now read CDs etc.
If it still doesn't, click the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Next, click the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager.  Next click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives.  Right click the drive and select uninstall.  Do not delete drivers if asked.  When the device has uninstalled click on the 'Scan for Hardware Changes' icon ( usually just below Help on the toolbar ).  Let windows reinstall the drive and see if it will now read other discs/data etc.

My 3 year old MacBook Pro, with OS 10.7.1, won't play movie DVDs I burned on Panther.
    Why?

But to answer your question, you might be able to create a ISO of the DVD and burn that to a new DVD.
    Insert your DVD.
    Open /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app.
In the left side of the window, select the “DVD”.
Click “New Image” from the Disk Utility toolbar and select where you want to save the temporary image. For “Image Format”, choose “DVD/CD master” and for “Encryption”, choose “none”.
The image extension in the “Save As” box will be .cdr (this is what you want) — click “Save”.
Once the temporary image is created, it will show up on the left side of the Disk Utility window. Select it.
Insert a blank DVD (I prefer Verbatim discs).
Click “Burn” from the Disk Utility toolbar.
Another problem could be that you burned the DVD using a codec that your new machine doesn't have.
Install Perian, VLC and Flip4Mac, that combination will play anything.
Also install Flash for web content and Silverlight for Netflix.

Please help, i movie is not exporting or sharing movies, it will closed unexpectedly please help?

    Hi Videoframe
This was emailed to Apple Support on 23 DEc 2012 at 09:50 Eastern Australia time.
"I continued to talk to other Apple Mac users on iMovie….Interesting to have found out that their movies were made using iDVD without any known issues as yet…Looking at the results from Apple Support Forum and Youtube, problems appears to be when NOT using iDVD. I and many others can't understand how these many technical problems were overlooked by the programmers of iMovie. One would have thought iMovie problems have been iron out prior to getting rid of iDVD. By the way when I first contacted Apple Support back on 16th Nov, I was told I need to RE-INSTALL my computer…..that I did and in the process my iDVD was removed and never was re-installed.
May I suggest you delegate a junior person or someone string together a project consisting over near 1700 images, approx. 25mins of video footage, titles and including with and without transitions then export the project.
I am still in the dark as to what is being done about this extended non result. I am not sure if is known by the people who is in charge of this iMovie programme. it would be nice to get some sort of feedback. Not sure if I should refer this to a third party to do the testing?? I am sure Apple's competitors would love to make a mockery of this.
There has to be a time frame for this to end, as I and many others can't simply sit here in the dark and wait for someone to come back for a solution, this could be months or years who knows.  As you can appreciate I am not the only user anxiously waiting for a solution.
I guess I am in a way representing other worldwide users in pursuing a solution on this matter ASAP. I therefore ask you to please make this a priority if this is at all possible.
    Many thanks."
I've been corresponding to them since Fri 16th Nov on and off without a solution.

  • Dvd not burning properly, not recognized by DVD Player

I have not burned video DVD's for several months until this week when I find that disks burned from disk images created by IDVD no longer burn properly. They are not recognized by Apple DVD player or on two different commercial players that I have.  The disk images can be played with Apple DVD player, but once burned to disk, I get a message Disk not Supported.  I have tried burning disks from 3 reputable brands with the same results.  I just updated to OS X 10.8.5.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Another thing to check is your bitRates and whether you encoded the audio to A.Pack/Dolby. I have often seen machines play once or twice then start having playback issues or not play. It can be related to the encode rates (and it may not behave across different machines the same way, in other words it will continue to play fine on some players and not another)

  • Movie dvd not recognized on this computer

I am getting this alert message, "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" when I insert a commercial movie DVD. Was working last week, why not now?

I finally searched google with the original error message and discovered other Apple community  discussions... sure enough I had the Lexar Securell USB software installed recently...
I removed the Lexar extensions from /System/Library/Extensions, did a restart and all is fine again.
I discontinued use of the software a while back because nobody would allow me to load the software on their machines to allow decryption... guess that should have been a first warning something was amiss.
Does this software qualify as a virus seeing that it would have gotten passed along to other machines and left others not able to use their DVD drives, yikes!!!!!!!!! Bad, Bad Lexar, Bad!
Think this warrents a general net-wide alert!!

  • Cd/DVD not burning.  Error Code 0x8002006E when burning DVD's

I have a MacBook Black and am trying to burn cd's and dvd's. I have tried multiple brands of DVD and CD and can get the cd's to burn once in a while with a microboards printable cd. When they don't burn I get either an error saying something about not being able to calibrate laser power, or it goes through like it's burning and shows up on the desktop, but when I go to open the disk, there is nothing on it. DVD's never finish, giving me the error code 0x8002006E. It will also not read any DVDr's on the machine. Stamped DVD's (store bought)are fine, but multiple brands of DVDr will not read. All of the burned DVD's I have are personal movies and music videos that I made on the machine. Anyone have any suggestions? Is my superdrive toast?

You can check in system profile and select disc burning to verify what cd/dvds are readable by your superdrive....Also with that error message you can try removing any extra ram chip installed, with that model powerbook it also has onboard ram built into logic...being a disc reading problem id say its the superdrive itself, you can try cleaning the lens with those cleaning discs you buy from electronic stores..Burn disc whilst running on power adaptor and not battery...
just a few things to try might help you

  • Movie DVDs not being recognized

    Hello, forum folks.
I’m posting about a problem with my family’s eMac. It has a combo drive and the CD reading and burning is working just fine. However, it will -not- read DVDs. The family’s been trying to watch purchased DVDs, but the computer just ejects them after a few seconds. We’ve tried opening Apple DVD player first, but the same problem occurs.
The computer is running system 10.4.9. I’ve repaired disk permissions, but it hasn’t helped. Thanks in advance!
eMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Family's unofficial, untrained tech support.

    Nevajas,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Have you tried running an CD lens cleaner through the drive for a few passes? Since CDs and DVDs operate at different wavelengths, there are separate CD and DVD LED lasers and lens inside a combo drive; it's possible the DVD lens has a buildup of grime but not the CD lens.
Also, check System Profiler and confirm that the optical drive is still recognized as being a combo drive.
You can add the CPU speed (and amount of RAM, etc.) to your user profile to help determine what other steps may be helpful. For instance, depending on your eMac model, you may want to see if Superdrive Firmware Update applies to your model (it's not too likely, since that references Superdrives and yours is a comb drive, but if the update isn't applicable it will say so and refuse to run).

  • DVD not burning.

I am trying to copy a disk image onto a DVD. I get the message, "Unable to burn. The device failed to respond properly. Unable to recover or retry." Is the "device" referred to the actual blank DVD or the DVD burner. Thanks. (If this post is a repeat, I apologize - think I lost the first one.)

First you need to drag and drop the plist for iDvd to the trash (empty it) and restart your mac.
    com.apple.iDvd.plist
    Secondly, repair permissions.
    Thirdly, read these links:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302925
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93006
And lastly, burn a disc image first from the file menu within iDVD.
Test the image with apple's DVD Player App. Assuming it plays as expected, then use apple's disc utilities / toast to burn at 4 x or slower.....slower is better.
Make sure to use only Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R for troubleshooting on this iDVD forum.
Good luck and I hope this helps but if not, come on back.

  • DESPARATE FOR HELP! - iDVD is not burning!

I made a 13 minute movie in iMovie and imported it into iDVD. In the "Cutomize" tab, under "Status" my DVD Capacity is 1.0GB of 4.1GB and my Motion Menu is 4:14 of 15:00 and I allowed the "Background Encoding" bar run until it read "Done" (Which was a previous suggestion from Apple). I even previewed the movie in iDVD and everything is running smoothly. And, I know my burner works, because I just made a couple of music CD's. Also, I am not running any other programs while trying to burn this. Any suggestions would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thank you!

    Sue,
I do believe I have a Super Drive. I have burned my imovies many times before and I use DVD-R's. I have only had a similar problem one time before and an Apple specialist had me try what I mentioned in my first post about waiting for the status bar to read "Done", then burn and I was successful in burning it. Now I have done the same thing again and nothing is happening. Let me add something that I did not before. After I click "Burn" and the DVD-R goes in, I do see the "process" of "Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, & Stage 4", however, it seems to but stuck on "Stage 4". I am burning one right now, as I type, that has been burning for 5 hours. I don't think that's right. And yesterday when I tried burning it, it was well over 8 hours so I stopped it and the DVD-R did not look like it had burned anything on the underside of the CD. I have also Verified and Repaired Disk Permissions (I don't know if that has anything to do with burning, but I thought I'd mention it.) Any suggestions now, by chance?

  • DVD not burning music issue

Can anyone help me. I've encountered a very odd problem. I exported a slide show with a music from Iphoto. It's now in quicktime and when I imported it into IDVD it plays with the music and during the preview. It even plays when I open it in quicktime with the music. But the problem arises when I attempt to burn the file through IDVD to a disc. I've tried each time and each time unsuccessfully the audio portion of the slide (which has the music) doesn't burn onto the dvd. The slide show with images burns perfectly, but not the music. Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am having the exact same problem with this slight variation. I made the slide show in Keynote. The music is a soundtrack I downloaded from iTunes. Everything works perfect in preview. When I burn the DVD, the music works fine when the menu is on screen, but when you go to play the slideshow, it stops. So I tried burning it again but this time with the slideshow starting automatically. Again, no music during slideshow, but when you stop the slideshow and go to the menu, the music starts. Arghhh!!!!

Mine is really close to your set up. Difference my desktop has two drive, dvd-rom and my burn drive. My laptop only has single drive. Here is my take on things.
My desktop computer burns from iTunes perfect in version 4.7.0.42 and 5.0.1.4. When I go to 6.x I can't do anything. Go to oldapps.com if you want an older version.
I CAN BURN on my laptop with new version. It is a toshiba sat M45-S331 with a matshita dvd-ram drive.
    My PC is a dell with a teac dvd+rw dv-w58e, rev D.0n
Did find something sad and while I don't know much about computer programming here is my take. I think it has nothing to do with the drive, my drive works perfect and as evidence being able to burn in older generation iTunes.
I think in the new version, at least as far as I can tell, my bus address in my laptop for my cd drive is [0,0] but on my desktop the bus address is [1,0] for my burn drive.
I think some programmer at Apple took out ability to recognize two seperate bus addresses or to recognize address [1,0]
Opinions? I'm going to research how to change bus address on my drives and if can figure out will get back here. Or if someone else can, please replay to me by e-mail. You can send it to the following removing upper case letters:

  • Help. HD DVD not recognised by Toshiba player

I am burning a 40 second slideshow with no sound onto a looping HD DVD for display on a widescreen. I have burnt around 9 DVDs so far with a variety of settings, but the Toshiba HD-E1KY player I have to use recognises none of them. It simply brings up a box saying this is not a DVD.
Looking through the forum it seems Toshiba players may be an issue, but has anyone any advice on some simple settings that work with DVD SP 4.2.1
ANY suggestions welcome as I dont have enough hair left to keep ripping it out at this pace.

How did you create the HD DVD and how did you burn it?
Apple implemented some of the HD DVD specifications but not all of them and it seemed to be more of an issue that Toshiba had to update Firmware on some machines to make it closer to HD DVD. Does the message box say not HD DVD or not a DVD? What files/folders are in you build file?

  • DVD not burning at 16X

I just replaced the original CD-R with an LG 16X DVD-R in the G4 800 at work.
Unfortunately it's not recording at 16X, only at 8X. I don't think it's the media, as it states it can be recorded at 16X, and I burned several ones already. Toast 7 indicates that it can burn at 16X, but as soon as the disk is inserted it goes to "best" and it takes 15min to record a full 4.7GB disc.
Could the ATA 66 of the drive be holding back the speed ?
I have a ATA TEMPO 133 PCI card. Would it be recognized by the OS if I connected the disk to it ?
    Thanks in advance
    Pedro

    Pedro,
They burn at 16X (in Theory), they only reach "up to" 16X on certain parts of the disc. It sounds like your drive needs updated firmware to recognize the actual brand of media you're trying to use. My G4 actually burns at the 16X speeds and it's my G5 that lags big time (on certain brands)because of firmware. Todays recorders have a true average of about 12X. It also may be your HDD is not pumping the data fast enough through the pipes or it can be a faulty cable as well. It can be one of several things and I'd start with the cable, check it for any punctures or small tears and make sure it's connected securely on both ends. After that make sure your HDD is in good working order, run some good utilities such as Disk Warrior, Tech Tool or Drive Genius so you can be sure your directories and structures of your disk are OK. Try running Apple's hardware test (shipped with the computer) and see if the Logic Board and everything else passes.

  • Help finding replacement DVD LightScribe burner for HPE-500Y

LightScribe internal DVD burner locked up.
I have been trying to find replacement and still use LightScribe when I transfer VHS to DVD.
    HELP

More info for all you out there that think that they can get to the bottom of this. The superdrive can read and write CDR's and can read and play DVD's. Just can't burn them! I have used a couple different type of DVD's and what happens using Disc Utility is that the burn process starts, then very quickly goes to "finishing burn". I then get a message that says "Unable to burn (insert title here) the disc isn't writeable"
I am using DVD-R (and have in the past). I have had great experience with the HP brand that allows for inkjet printing on the surface. However, I have gone to Memorex (same problem), then to a different HP and this is all I get. I have used Tayo-Uden as well. Any ideas?
    Thanks!
