Help! Missing "YTD Channels Model.sdk.InDesign Plug In"

Some existing InDesign files have this message showing up. What should I do? Can I delete this somehow? Or, does anyone know where I could get this missing Plug In? I'm not familiar with what this does, or where it came from. Thanks for your help. Deborah

Open then file, ignore the error message, then export a .INX file from InDesign. Open the .INX file and then resave the file as .INDD. When you open the new .INDD file plugin will be bypassed and you are free to save your changes.
The missing pluging was from VDP software the printer had been using.

Have uninstalled and installed the software too.  Any other suggestions - thanks

  • Missing  SMD Channel Model.sdk.InDesign Plugin

    Hello everybody!
I got an InDesign file from a print office today. When I try to open it, I get a message that advises me to not open the file because the SMD Channel.sdk.InDesign Plugin isn't available on my system.
Like a good girl I googled the problem and yes there are already some posts about that problem. Also in this forum there's already an existing discussion about it: Link InDesign Discussion
But for the solutions they offer I should open the document but I simply can't. Because when I press "OK" only
another warning appears that says that I can't open the document and that I should update my modules or  update to the current verison
of InDesign. When I press "OK" again nothing further happens. (Pictures below)
    Operating System: Windows Vista
    InDesign Version: CS 5
Sorry that the screenshots are in german. I hope you can use them anyway.
Thanks for your help! -- Jannie

    Hi Jannie,
This is not a big issue, it seems that the document you are using was created from a later version of InDesign than the one you are using to open it. Since you are using CS5 the document is probably created using CS5.5 or CS6, and you cannot open a doc of later version in a previous version of InDesign for obvious reasons.
And for the reason this problem(your first screenshot) occurs is that every plugin in InDesign can save some persistent data on the document and if it does so then whenver you open such a document and the plugin is not loaded then this prompt occurs. However if the developer coding the plugin has some foresight he can avoid such alerts to the user by using Ignoretags resource in the plugin code.
Hope my explanation cleared out the confusions you had on this behavior of InDesign
    Thanks
    -Manan

  • Using InDesign CS5.5 and am missing SMD Channels Model.sdk.IndesignPlugin

I am a designer and I am proofing the magazine a printer sent back to me and I can't open his file because it says I am missing SMD Channels Model.sdk.IndesignPlugin and strongly advises me not to open it.
Is there a way to download this plugin or have the printer send an IDML file instead?

Ask in the ID forum. On a general note, though, warnings about missing plug-ins mean that the file was created and saved in a newer version of the program and thus cannot be opened. You will have to work out that part or indeed use IDML.

  • How do I install and/or activate the "Channels Model.InDesignPlugin" for InDesign CC 2014?

I need to package my files today for an online class using InDesign CC 2014 and I keep getting this error message:
Where and how do I either install or activate this plugin?
Thank you for any help provided on this matter.

    Hi, Larry
Thanks for responding. Yes: I have tried  both ways: First to Save file, then Export to .idml, then reopen to package while inside InDesign  -and- as Save file, Export to .idml, Save, Close file, then Reopen as .idml, to package. I also tried a straight out export to PDF and all I get is a blank page with registration, bleed, and crop marks.
Very weird and frustrating. I checked my Extensions Manager just to make sure I didn't miss anything or if I could activate it from there. Channels Model.InDesignPlugin or anything resembling that does not exist. I have been searching on Google to see what I can find. My instructors are aware of the issue so far but this is greatly impacting two of my classes.
Last things I have tried were a full uninstall and re-install  since my last post just to see if that would work. Nothing. Same issue still. The .indd verison opens per usual with missing three types of plugins that are YTDChannel related. Even though if I don't need this plugin as mentioned previous by /u/jmlevy, then why is everything coming up blank?
Thanks to everyone trying their best to help me.

  • Missing InDesign plug-ins after installing on new machine running WIN 7

After installing Adobe InDesign CS3 (version 5.0) on a new computer running Windows 7 Professional, InDesign cannot open a file I created 30 days ago on a machine running the same version of InDesign and Windows XP Professional.  I repeat, there have been no changes in InDesign versions !!
    The error message indicates a boat load of plug-ins are missing.  The first error message indicates WORLDREADY.RPLN and CONDITIONALTEXT.RPLN were missing.  After clicking OK, the second error message indicates these plug-ins are missing: ASSIGNMENTS.RPLN, TEXT.RPLN, SPREAD.RPLN, MASTERPAGE.RPLN, IMAGE.RPLN, TEXTATTRIBUTES.RPLN, GENERICPAGEITEM.RPLN, TEXTWRAP.RPLN, CJKTEXTATTRIBUTES.RPLN, SCRIPTING.RPLN, LINKS.RPLN, INCOPYSHARED.RPLN, XLM.RPLN, CJKGRID.RPLN, TOC.RPLN, INDEXING.RPLN, HPERLINKS.RPLN, PACKAGEANDPREFLIGHT.RPLN, WORKGROUP.RPLN, APPFRAMEWORK.RPLN, and DOCUMENTFRAMEWORK.RPLN.
From the Help menu within InDesign, I click Updates.  A series of updates for all my Adobe software were installed, bringing inDesign CS3 to version 5.0.4 yet
InDesign still refuses to open my previously created file.
The only other suggestion your help files suggest is upgrading my inDesign software to CS5 to which my company will not agree.
    HELP !!!!

The file properties are shown in the attached screen shot indicating InDesign CS3 was used not CS4 or CS5.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?

  • Find the Missing font text content in indesign document

How to find and get the missing font content in the indesign documents by using the SDK. give a tips and techniques.
    Anybodys help me.

It wont answer your question, but you could have this problem too:
I have a problem in my current project where text frame having no text make the document report the usage of a font wich we dont want the project to use (times by exemple). The problem being that Indesign report usage of a font wich is in fact not applied to any text. Weird!
The easy fix is to identify those items (text frame class + no text) and reassign them as "unassigned".

  • The Adobe InDesign Plug-in Editor

Aiming to make life easier for InDesign plug-in developers, we're proud to announce the beta release of the Adobe InDesign Plug-in Editor. This is an Eclipse based editing environment; featuring graphical editing of FR resources, an error-sensitive, code completion capable text editor, a widget documentation generator, and functionality to compile your plug-in without leaving the environment. Unlike the previous GUI editing offering, Freddy (for InDesign 2), this release handles custom widgets without user input, allows the instantaneous switching of locales, and has a significantly more robust parser capable of faithfully round tripping nearly every FR file in the SDK and core resources.
The editor is now available, in three flavours, on Adobe Labs, at http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/InDesign_Plug-in_Editor. You can get it as a full distribution for Mac, and for Windows, and as a platform-independent set of plug-ins that can be integrated with an existing Eclipse installation (3.2.2 recommended).
If you'd like more information, or have suggestions for improvement, please feel free to contact me directly,
    Thanks,
    James

got it working, but it seems that for finish button to be activated, all of the fields must be filled in both in the mac panel and the windows panel. I think this is wrong because, if i'm developing in mac, i would only need to fill-in information pertaining to the mac environment, just like the dolly x's application.
If i create a new plugin using dolly x, it does not require me to fill-in information that is windows related (I guess it only needs info on where to save the visual studio project file). Plus the editor, is using the config xml file that is also being used by the dolly x application shipped with the SDK. Can't this be a separate file instead?
Also, checking the XSLT files that dolly x uses, all of them are in version 1.1 which is no longer in development, XSLT version 2.0 is now a recommendation and i think it would be great if this will be updated.
I hope this information is helpful in better improving the editor.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Help Viewer is an issue with InDesign CS6

Would anyone happen to know if the Help Viewer is an issue with InDesign CS6? Even with a manual install the Help feature launches without issues the first time and won’t launch after the second time. This is the message we are receiving on Windows 7:
“Help viewer is not installed check your internet connection and reinstall InDesign”

    Anup R. wrote:
Can you try the option mentioned in 2nd para of the reply, if you are connected to internet?
You can try changing the preference "General Settings" > "Display Local Help content only" to "No" so that application launches the online help content.
    -Anup.
YES! It does help.Thank you very much. I changed the setting yesterday but side tracked before I see the online content works. So in general scope, yes it takes me to the online help center, which gives me options for more "community" answers. So yes, thank you for making me look further.
However, I really was a fan of the local help that looked like and felt like the user manuals produced by Adobe, not just blogs, and more message boards. So I am still partially dismayed that I take the time to download and update the local help files, but can't use them. And wish Adobe would just fix the problem, so I can have immediate access to user manuals without having to surf all over for answers. Perhaps this is a novice thought, but I liked reading it in manual formats provided by the amnufacture of the software.
Thanks again though for the help and it will just have to get used to this method. UNLESS you can tell me good news of something else I am missing?

  • Smd channels model.pnl

I am trying to edit a file in indesign which is formatted for cs5 and has a plugin called smd channels model.pnl which I don't have. I am using cs5 and need this plugin to edit this file. How can I get it?

This is probably related to VDP software used by a printer, perhaps an HP Indigo, from waht I can find googling.
You say you need it to edit the file. Is that true? Most likely you don't and Salah's advice will strip it from the file and allow you to open without an error message. If you really need it to edit the file, though, you'll have to find out where it came from and install it.

  • Using adobe Indesign plug-in editor

Hi All,  I am very new in developing plugin's for adobe indesign in mac. I came to know that there is tool "Indesign plug-in edtior" for creating new plug-in's for  Indesgin. I downloaded the Indesign plug-in editor from "http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/InDesign_Plug-in_Editor". i just double clicked on the Ellicpse to get the ellicpse editor. Here i tried to create a new project by clicking the File->NewProject. A new Project dialog opened. Here i double clicked on the "In design plug-in development" folder and clicked on the "New Indesign Plug-in Project" and clicked the next button. When i clicked the next button It gave me an error dialog saying "Dolly input files are either not found or read only". How do i resolve this problem?

It's really annoying Adobe elected to name it a plug-in editor -- you have to write a plug-in first before yo can edit it ...
It's not really a point-and-shoot procedure; you need to start from scratch: http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/InDesign_Plug-in_Editor#How_to_Get_Started_with_the_A dobe_InDesign_Plug-in_Editor (it directs you to the Starting Guide pdf from the SDK).

  • Using PDFSharp in InDesign plug-in

    Hello
Has any body been successful using the PDFSharp.dll in InDesign plug-ins
    Thank you in advance,

    Hi Dirk,
    Thank you for your response.
I was reading all these days about the IPDFPlacePrefs. And the desciption from the SDK manual is:
<IPDFPlacePrefs. Public interface used to remember the PDF place options.
This interface is used by the PDF place code to hold the settings the user selects in the PDF options dialog.>
There is a function called GetAllPages, with the description: <Method to get the total pages of the PDF and whether all pages are being placed.>
I did made it to work for example: to place a cpecific page from the pdf. But I do not know how to implement it in order to get the information from the PDF option dialog (if that optoin is checked by the user). If you know any solution around that please give me a hint, so then I can use the GetAllPages function.
As per page width and page height yes I have to place it and then measure the frame box. But if I have to know per each page (just to make sure they are the same size) then it is not the best solution.
Acording to the external library PDFShap is made on C# and maby for that thing to work I have to enable the /clr in the plug-in options, and doing that I can not build the plug in.
Instead of that I did try succesfully an other library QuickPDFLite. Just placed (QuickPDFLite0812.h, QuickPDFLite0812.cpp) in my code and I get page count from pdf, and page width and height.
But since InDesign has all that information in the PDF option dialog why not use that. I think the key is the IPDFPlacePrefs. I know how to set those preferences, but I was not successfull geting and reading the information from it. If you know how, please advice me.
    I do thank you
    Best regards,
    Ervin
