Help! mobileme free Comments on iWeb (Gravatar)?

Hi,
Is there a way of adding comments to an iWeb page? I want to use wordpress for my blog but integrate it with my main iweb site, but unfortunately there are no ways of posting comments on iWeb without using mobileme (which is not an option at that price), which i require for my photo pages.
Otherwise i'd have to create all the pages on wordpress but its not as easily customisable as iWeb :/ So I wondered whether i could enable comments with some sort of plugin, preferably gravatar seeing as thats what i use on wordpress, but have no idea how to do this!
Please help ASAP,
Dan

Hate to disappoint. I've been looking for over a year with no luck.
I've been told by the heads much more clever than myself that iWeb requires MobileMe servers for fully functional blogs and photo galleries. Nobody could make work the serverside databases necessary for running this show within iWeb.
I've been using MobileMe since it's inception and am happy with it. I know the $$ are painful, but just hear me out!
MobileMe is more expensive than other services out there, I agree. THe premium paid is for the ease of use and integration with Apple apps.
Now, think about this:
How much do you pay for e-mail account which does push?
How much do you pay for website hosting? Do they give you 20GB of storage?
How much do you pay for an application which does one click publishing?
Do other services automatically back up your calendars, keychains and documents to a server?
If your answer to all this os zero $$$, then I'd suggest you get a bootleg copy of Dreamweaver, build your own blog site, post it on your own computer, turn on web sharing, sign up for a free dyndns.org account to lock up your free domain to your dynamic IP address and you are ready to run your own picture blog from home. Minus the Apple one-click experience, of course......

  • Annoying MobileMe Renewal Notice in iWeb

Is there any way to stop the annoying MobileMe renewal notice in iWeb?
It appears every single time I publish my website. Since I have my MobileMe account set to automatically renew, I hit the "No Thanks" button on the notice, but it just keeps coming back every time I publish.
I even checked to see if I could renew early, but since my MobileMe account is set to renew automatically, it will not let me renew early. I suppose I could remove my credit card from my MobileMe account, and then renew manually, but I was hoping not to have to mess with my account info.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Wyodor. I will assume that you have answered the question, but I am not actually going to try the solution for the following reasons:
    1. Not sure where my Leopard disk is.
    2. Only have to put up with the annoying notice for another 6 days and then my subscription renews.
    3. By this time next year, I plan to have iWeb '10 or '11, and hopefully a disable button will be included with the notice. If it is not included, I will try your solution then.
    Thanks again.

  • Comments on iWeb

Hi, I've created a website using iWeb but did not publish it through Mac.Com can I still use the comments function? How does it come up on my site? Can anyone post a sample of their site with comments on it?
    I appreciate it

Some features of iWeb require you to publish to .Mac (now called MobileMe).
    Comments are one of them.

No MobileMe galerie connection in iweb!
I know that this service stops at 30. june 2012 but today i like to work with my website like before.
Someone have a good solution or knows more?
    Thanks and greetings from switzerland
    Stefan

    Try this:
go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
login with a bogus username and password like "test" and "test". This clears the caches.
login with your correct username and password.
    launch iWeb and try again.
    Next:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home()/Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Haloscan Comments in iWeb

Has anyone been able to successfully use Haloscan to allow for comments on iWeb created pages? I can't get it to work. If you have, please tell me where to insert the code. Thanks!

I don't think it can work. Every time you add a comment to an iWeb blog and republish the page, any custom code you had added before is erased. At present there is no way as far as I know to customize a template to add the needed code permanently. Hopefully they will consider this for the next version.

i made a free website using iweb and my host is dropbox but it is not showing in every search engine,i have to use a proxy for my site to pop up

Possibly because dropbox is not really a proper webhost - it might be better if you went and signed up for proper web hosting from somewhere like http://www.godaddy.com or http://www.hostexcellence.com.
Have you told Google that you site exists?  If not, then you need to do so - http://www.google.com/addurl.

  • Does anyone know of a free Comments box script / widget that actually works???

    Re: Dreamweaver 2014.1.1
I've searched and tried over thirty different scripts so far....everything from HTML to CSS to javascript! Some java's worked and came out well (ex. Free Comment Script - Generate free ajax driven HTML comments on your website.) BUT when I press the "Post Comment" it does nothing at all. But other than that their great in reference to looks and what-not.
Attached are pictures of the web screen-shot (above) where all is working EXCEPT the post comment and below is the script.
So if anyone knows how to either get my java script I noted above to work when I press "Post Comment " or can link me to a reliable, simple Comments box/script/widget for me to post at the bottom of my <body> I would thank you dearly

So the concept was that the spam was through the site providing, I completely understand....as I did get a lot of "hocus-pocus" crap during the preview of whatever code I pasted.
As for the code which I installed and came up blank, here is a copy of it (I saved it just in case I want to try it again):
    <div id="disqus_thread"></div>
    <script type="text/javascript">
        /* * * CONFIGURATION VARIABLES * * */

            dsq.src = '//' + disqus_shortname + '.disqus.com/embed.js';
    (document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0] || document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0]).appendChild(dsq);
    </script>

  • Cannot publish to MobileMe.   Error says, "iWeb couldn't connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again."  Connection is OK!

My site will publish to a folder, but will not publish to MobileMe.   Error says, “iWeb couldn’t connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again.“  Connection is OK!

Thank you Alancito for your reply.  The recent post you suggested was not necessary because another of your suggestions did the trick:  https://discussions.apple.com/message/11503337#11503337  In effect, it seems to have reestablished my connection to my MobileMe account, and my iWeb site now publishes on MobileMe.
My next step will be to transfer my iWeb site to another Personal Web Provider when MobileMe ceases to exist next June.  Any recommendations for a simple PWP?
    Thank you very much,

    Thaks a lot.

    Pablo,
I think the best choice for what you are trying to do is 1&1 Webhosting. You will like the pricing, the domain options, and they offer a forum/blog app that works great. You also mentioned something about third party ftp in your other post; you will enjoy the flexibility that can be achieved if you are using something like GoLive or DreamWeaver. Getting and putting files is not an issue, and you can also set up password protection with 1&1 as well.

  • Comments in iWeb blog.

I created a website and a blog using iWeb 3.0.4 but no body can leave any comments, even when I had checked the box allowing comments. Help anyone?
    Thanks!!

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?  Where are you hosting your blog website? If it's not to MobileMe that's the reason they can't.  Do you have an Add a Comment link showing?
If so what happens when someone tries to add a comment?

  • Problems publishing to MobileMe after upgrade to iWeb '11

I have a web site created in iWeb '08 which worked well. Upgraded to iLife '11 this weekend.
I opened iWeb and the pages of the site showed as having been changed (page names displayed in red). I added a countdown timer widget to the main page to see what it would look like and selected to republish the entire site to MobileMe.
iWeb had been chugging for hours now (tried this twice). The little "pie" progress icon next to the site name shows that the site is almost done publishing (showing a complete "pie") but it looks like it is still chugging.
I checked my site online (www.cruisenotebook.com) to see if it was the progress icon that was incorrect but am noticing that many elements are mising. The menu at the top of the page is missing, the countdown widget is not showing, an HTML snippet on the main page is not showing and any photo galleries are empty. So maybe it hasn't completed publishing...?
iLife '11 is new, so I don't know if anyone has had much change to work with it, but since iWeb did not change in this release, maybe someone has had similar problems with iWeb '09? (I didn't upgrade to iLife '09 because I wanted to avoid upgrade issues, but I was worried about getting too far behind the current version so I upgraded. This'll teach me!)

    4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and see if there's any improvement.
    If that doesn't help continue:
6 - move the domain file from your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
7 - launch iWeb, create a new test site and save.
8 - go to the your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
9 - move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
10 - launch iWeb and try again.

Tried this suggestion. The new test site publishes correctly. I put the original domain file back into the folder and tried republishing. A similar error is displayed (a different file name however). I did get more the site published though. The menu appears on the pages now, but there are still some elements on the site that do not appear.
I am going to try publishing the site to a file and see how that works.
    Thanks for your help, though!

  • Adding mobileme gallery content in iWeb with a personal domain

I've been building gorgeous looking pages in iWeb this year which I have attached to a personal domain.
I'm having trouble adding a movie that I have published on my mobileme gallery as widget is telling me there is nothing available. Could this be because I have iWeb pointed towards my own domain even though it's hosted by mobileme?
I'm confused and really want to add this video as something over than through a hyperlink.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Paul.

    Paul:
If you have a MMe gallery that you want separate from the others but still have viewable in an iWeb site and page set its setting in iPhoto to be hidden from the rest of the gallery:
Visit the gallery online and copy it's URL address. Add that address to iFrame code in an HTML snippet as I've done in this demo page: MobileMe Galleries and Quicktime Movies (the code is shown on the page). You can set the gallery to disiplay in any of the availablemodes, grid, mosaic, etc., by using the URL for that mode.
The visitor can view the gallery but will not be able to go to your other galleries. Just a way to post a single gallery to your web page.

  • Comments in iWeb '09

    Hi everyone,
I have recently spent a lot of time on my website and have finally come to the blog. In the Inspector, I have selected the RSS tab and checked off the 'Allow Comments' and 'Allow Attachments' boxes. In the iWeb preview, I can see the 'Add a comment' link at the bottom of my post. Unfortunately, when I upload to MobileMe, the link is not there!
I am using a third party theme (Aerolite by 11Mystics) which may have something to do with it?
    Thanks in advance.

Tobyn ~ Problems with iWeb's blog are a recurring theme in these forums and using a non-Apple theme may challenge iWeb's blog even more. ...You may want to consider using an alternative, web-based solution for your blog — see this old thread:

  • Using Facebook Comments for iWeb Blog (non mobile me domain)

Upon moving from a mobileme hosted iWeb created blog to a personal domain, I obviously lost ability to use iWeb commenting. That in-of-itself was frustrating, so I've been scouting out new possibilities. Some have recommended IntenseDebate and others, but I'm curious if anyone has had luck using Facebook Comments? http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/comments
I've been able to use the Facebook Like HTML as a Widget not a problem, but haven't been able to get Comments to work.
    www.kellerowski.com
    Thanks in advance!

That is because it is a plugin and plugins won't work with iWeb as far as I am aware.
I would try http://www.intensedebate.com. It is very easy to set up and it works and you will be notified by e-mail every time somebody posts a comment. I use IntenseDebate on my own site and it works very well for me.
Your other alternative of course is to ditch the iWeb blog and create a blog link to a blog created in WordPress - you can use http://www.wordpress.org too if you uploading to another host, so you will then have www.domain.com/Blog.
