Help moving libraries from a diff comp

i just reformatted my harddisk, but saved all my itune info on a separate hard disk... now i have reformatted, i want to transfer it all back, but the prob is that when i pllug in my shuffle, they tell me that my shuffle has a diff library and do i want to change... how can i restore my old library into my new comp?? thanks....

Move your music back from the separate HD and get iTunes all sorted out on your new computer. Then plug in the Shuffle. It may ask if you want to associate the Shuffle with the new computer and when you say yes it will clean the Shuffle out and you can reload it from the iTunes library on your new computer.
iTunes first, then the Shuffle.

how can l move contacts from old account to new

    Hello,
This greying-out of your iPod's songs are due to what setting you are on in iTunes.
Go to "Edit -> Preferences -> iPod". Under the "music" tab, there will be three selectinos of options:
    Automatically update ALL songs
    Automatically updater SELECTED songs
    Manually manage songs
From your description of this issue, you are on one of the "automatic" settings. To un-grey your iPod's songs in iTunes, change that setting to "manually manage music" instead of automatic".
If any post is helpful or solves your issue, please mark it that way, this makes it clearer to other users what solved your issue, and encourages others to help each other on here. Thank You!
I hope this answers the question,

  • NEED HELP: Deleted windows from bootcamp but comp. won't boot into mac OS!!

    Here is my problem -
I tried to install windows with bootcamp and couldn't get it to work because I had no valid product key for windows. So I deleted the windows partition to remove it from my mac. However, when I boot up the computer it goes to a black screen and tries to boot from a cd instead of just booting directly into leopard.
If I hold down the option key when I turn on the computer it bypasses that black screen and allows me to select the hard drive for leopard - then everything works as normal.
So my question is - how can I stop my laptop from trying to load from the cd and just boot directly into leopard when I turn on the computer like it used to.
    Please help me - thank.
    Adam

  • I need help moving data from my iPod to my computer.

Is there a way I can take all the music and movies and pictures from my ipod and transfer them onto my computer. Mainly I just want my pictures back I never backed them up on my laptop and that got destroyed while my husband was deployed in iraq a few years back. Im not sure how to work everything I always gave my ipod to him to have him upload everything on it. I just bought a Macbook and I am still learning how it works. Is it even possible to take stuff from my ipod and save it to my computer now?

First of all, when connecting your iPod to your computer, be sure to click "NO" if you recieve a message like this: "This iPod is linked to another computer. Would you like to replace the content?"
    Then, onto the iPod-to-computer transfer:
There are a few different methods with transferring iPod songs to your computer.
    These include:
--- Manually transfer your iPod songs to iTunes. See MacMuse's posting here: iPod songs to computer (MacMuse post)
--- Add your iPod's folder into the iTunes library (via iTunes). See Jeff Bryan's post here: Using iTunes settings to transfer iPod songs to iTunes
--- Use a third-party program to get the transferring done. For a Windows computer, CopyPod should work good. Also, you can try out YamiPod.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Need help moving music from iPod nano to new computer

I had a computer that had all of my music on it, it was a combination of music I purchased from iTunes, purchased from other places, and that had been transferred from my CDs.  That computer died, and the music was lost.  My CDs are in storage and I can't put my hands on them easily.  All of that music was on my iPod Nano, but when I plug it in it only gives me the option to erase and sync, and I don't want to lose what's on my iPod but I would like to add new music that I've added to iTunes on my new computer to the iPod.  Is this even possible?

it 's possible you just have to change your sync option from automatic to manual
the way to do this is the do the following
-open iTunes while ipod is connected
-if you get the message to erase and sync just click cancel
-on the left hand side of the iTunes window click on your device in the devices section
-in the ipod summary page go to the bottom of the page and choose "manually manage music"
-click apply and now any new music you want to sync you just drag the music from the library section and drop it onto the ipod in the devices section in iTunes
    hope this helps:)
ps: this is only a temp fix but if you want something more then just a work around just post back

  • Moving content from ipod to comp

Is it possible to move songs that are on your ipod to a new computer without having the original computer?

    Hello there,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

  • New PC user needs help moving stuff from MAC

I have just had to resort to getting a PC and I don't know how to get all my stuff from my mac to my PC. Specifically; iPhoto library, itunes folder, mailboxes and signatures in Mail, bookmarks in firefox or safari, 'address book' v cards, and all my textedit docs (AAARRRGGHHHH!).
Can anyone help me? My new PC is a Quad core acer running vista.

Apple devices are designed to only allow you to sync to one itunes library at a time. If you try, it will replace everything on the deivce with the itunes library you are syncing to.
If she has already synced her ipad to another computer, then this is normal behavior.
It would be best to create a library just for her. If you can import/export the music and photos on the computer into her own itunes library.

The reason that content from her ipad is showing up on your iphone is probably due to you both sharing the same apple id and having automatic downloads turned on in the settings.
You can turn this off by going to settings/itunes and app stores/automatic downloads/turn off

  • Help moving mail from old hard drive to new installaion...

I need to import all my mail from my original hard drive (in the second bay) to my new installation of Tiger on a new drive. I've got the new setup of Mail working fine. Can anyone point me to the steps required to safely import my original mail? Both systems are on Tiger but unfortunately the admin usernames are not the same. If possible, I would like to keep what mail is currently in the new installation as well. And I would like to only import one of the accounts if possible.
Hoping someone knows a good FAQ on manual replacement from an original drive or copy/past backup.
Is there a more appropriate forum for this question?

So why don't you just use the Mail import command and choose OSX mail then point the importer to where your mailboxes are to import.

  • I need help: Moving music from an ipod to a new library.

Hi, so I'm having a lot of trouble. My friend just gave me his old Ipod because he just got a new one. And it has a lot of music on it that I want. But I don't know how to take the music that's already on the ipod and put it onto my itunes. Because my itunes keeps saying the Ipod is synced to another library and that I need to sync it to my library. But to sync the ipod to my library all the songs that I don't have that are on the ipod I loose and all I end up with are the same songs I already had. So I hope you guys understand my question. I just wanna know how to move the songs from the ipod to my computer without loosing any music.

There are probably programs you could download to transfer music on windows, but the old way works fine. First you will need to change your folder view options to show all hidden files. Then plug in the ipod and ignore itunes (dont quit it or the ipod will dismount) open the ipod drive and go into the ipod control file, then into the library file. There will be a bunch of files all starting with F. Inside of those are the songs, they will all be labeled some random 4 letter title. Once you drag them into itunes they will regain all the correct titling and info. This will probably take a while, and its really only for situations where your computer crashes and you want ALL you music back. You really can't pick and choose the songs you want from it, since everything is labeled gibberish, and they are in no order whatsoever in the F folders.
Good luck. You could also just look for a free program somewhere to transfer the music. My method is the old way.

  • Help moving photos from starter edition 3.2 to Elements 11

How do I move photos from Photoshop starter edition 3.2 to Photoshop

Your photos are just files somewhere on your harddrive and you import them via the organizer. Doesn't really involve any specifics beyond that.

  • Need help moving photos from iphone3gs to 'My Pictures' or sync with itunes

Hi, I've recently bought a new iphone 3GS, unfortunately my PC crashed, which was already synced with my iphone. I had saved ALL my photos to my iphone temporarily while I wiped my system and reinstalled Windows 7... now I have 4000 photos stored on my iphone which I want on my PC. The problem is when I connect the iphone to my PC it detects the device as a camera/iphone but only lets me view the pictures on the 'Camera Roll' and not my 'Photo Library'.
How do I move the photos on the iphones 'Photo Library' to my PC?????

The photo sync is one way: computer to phone. Apple makes no provision to recover photos synced to your phone as the iphone is not a backup device and should not be used as such. You will have to use third party software to recover your photos from your phone. What OS are you running on your computer?

  • Help moving songs from ipod to itunes

I had to do this a few months back and was able to contact someone about this and I did it, but then my computer crashed and I had to get a new hard drive so I think I have everything on my ipod ready, but I just need to know how to put my songs back on my computer. I authorized it and I was able to move all my purchased music on there, but thats it.

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.

You need to sync your iPad to your computer. When in iTunes click of your device then photos. You can then select the album(s) you want. Then just click on sync.
