Help moving to a new pc

Hi everybody:
I'm moving to a new pc and need to know how to do it...I
moved my project's folders to my new pc and I define the sites but
i can't see the templates...
how I move my templates?
If you have a tutorial please redirect me....or if you can
bring me some tips...

Has this happened in all the sites or only one? And you have
the Templates
folder at the root level of the site, and it contains your
*.dwt files? If
that's the case, try this -
1. In Site Manager, select this site and click on the EXPORT
button to
export the site's definition (use the first radio button -
the full site
definition) to some locatable folder on your drive.
2. In Site Manager, select this site, and click on the REMOVE
button to
remove the site's definition from Site Manager.
3. In Site Manager, click on the IMPORT button, and IMPORT
the site
definition you just exported.
Do you see the templates now?

  • Help moving iTunes to new computer

My old computer died, but I was able to get the hard drive to work as an external. I have the library.itl and library.xml files on this external hard drive.
What I've done so far. Put all the music in the iTunes music folder on the new computer. iTunes does not see these files. Then I replaced the xml file on the new computer with the one from the old computer and did a replace all correcting the location of the music folder. Then I deleted the library.itl file (I found this suggestion somewhere) and restarted iTunes. Nothing happens. Am I missing an important step?
I really don't want to lose my playlist/rating data. I have 48 GB of music that was organized nicely when my old computer bit it.
An anybody help me with this?
    Thanks in advance.

This might not be the right answer but.... If you can see the files on the old hard drive. Have you tried to make a back up disc(s) of the iTunes files? I had a B-Tree error and lost all my iTunes files that I had not backed up in four months. I went to the local Apple Store in Norfolk VA and the bastards there would not even look at my external hard drive. I ended up going to Best Buy and they helped me...... some.
As far as moving to a new Apple Computer, I've always connected the two computers via a firewire cable and started the one in the Terminal mode.Everything moved from the one to the other.
Good Luck! Hope you can get some help soon.

  • Cloning help: Moving to a newer computer

I want to clone my Late 2008 MacBook Pro drive to my new Late 2010 MacBook Pro.
What I cannot understand is how do I get the drivers needed for the new 2010 MacBook into the clone that holds everything needed for the Late 2008 MacBook?
Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper - what do you wonderful pros use?
    Much appreciated.

While clones are great generally in your current situation all you want to move from the old to the new are the user files, data and applications NONE of the System stuff or it will mess things up badly.
So, on the new machine upgrade the drive and then install a clean version of the newest OS you have, ideally Snow Leopard and then run Software Update to get it up to date and then run Disc Utility and repair permissions.
Once all that's done connect the new to the old with a Firewire cable and restart the old one while holding down T (target disc mode) so it appears on the new one's Desktop. Finally run Migration Assistant and select all the items to move across to your new drive. This is your best path honestly and even if something goes amiss your original is still intact for later copying.

I need help moving my Photoshop 7 from my old laptop to my new laptop which is running Windows 7 Enterprise. I’ve tried two routes unsuccessfully. I install the CD, it does not autoplay. I execute Autoplay.exe at the root directory, I am welcomed, I choose English, I accept the EULA, I get the Install/Explore choices window, with the Install button already selected, I click the Photoshop button, the CD spins, and nothing happens.  In the 2nd attempt I execute Setup.exe in the Photoshop directory, and nothing happens at all.  I’m never even offered the opportunity to enter my product code. What should I do?

There could is likely a compatibility problem between the old software and the newer operating system.

Well where is your library located now if not in the iTunes folder?  See the links below on what your iTunes folder should look like and put it back together:

  • New PC user needs help moving stuff from MAC

I have just had to resort to getting a PC and I don't know how to get all my stuff from my mac to my PC. Specifically; iPhoto library, itunes folder, mailboxes and signatures in Mail, bookmarks in firefox or safari, 'address book' v cards, and all my textedit docs (AAARRRGGHHHH!).
Can anyone help me? My new PC is a Quad core acer running vista.

Apple devices are designed to only allow you to sync to one itunes library at a time. If you try, it will replace everything on the deivce with the itunes library you are syncing to.
If she has already synced her ipad to another computer, then this is normal behavior.
It would be best to create a library just for her. If you can import/export the music and photos on the computer into her own itunes library.
Syncing multiple devices with one computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495
The reason that content from her ipad is showing up on your iphone is probably due to you both sharing the same apple id and having automatic downloads turned on in the settings.
You can turn this off by going to settings/itunes and app stores/automatic downloads/turn off

Is there a phone number to call Adobe.  I go around an endless loop pressing their contact info tabs?  Maybe someone at this sight can help. I am new to digital photo - I have been a B&W film photographer for many years. I have a problem with a Macbook Air.  It was working fine - I was using LR and a message came on the screen that said something like the memory was dangerously low.  I stopped and tried to delete LR files.  I couldn't do it.  I closed the program and tried reopening and got the message that there is not enough memory available to open LR.  I contacted Apple.  They spent a half hour on the phone with me and eventually told me they didn't know how to help. The tech said that LR had gobbled up all the memory and said I should contact Adobe and ask where and how my photo files are stored and to delete them.  I have several back-ups.  Thanks - Arthur

This sort of error message only comes up for Lightroom when your hard disk is full. Indeed this has nothing to do with internal memory as that will be intelligently be dealt with. If you have a mac Book Air that is not so surprising as the cheapest versions come with very small hard disks and if you shoot raw with any recent camera, you'll fill up your hard disk very quickly and you can probably only store a few months of pictures if you are a typical photographer. So the bottom line is that you need to create some room on your hard disk. You should move some of your originals to an external hard disk. You can also delete some of your backup copies of your catalog file that Lightroom automatically generates every few days and that quickly gobble up hard disk space. So first figure out how full your hard disk is. To see that, go to the apple menu, hit -> About this Mac -> More info->Storage. You should see your internal hard disk on top and you'll find that it is almost entirely full with photos. Now find your Lightroom catalog file using Finder. It is usually in a folder in the Pictures folder in your home directory. You should see a Lightroom 5 Catalog.lrcat file, a previews file and a folder called backups. Inside the backups folder, you'll find a lot of subfolders. They have names that show the dates the backups were created. If you have backups of your entire hard disk, you can delete these backups when they are older than a few months. I usually only keep the last 4 around. Just drag the folders into the trash can on the dock on the bottom of your screen and empty the trash. This will probably free up enough space that Lightroom will already run again. Now start thinking about where you will want to store older images. If you have a good USB3 or Thunderbolt hard disk that is probably the best option. There is a video here by Adobe that has some instructions on how to do this: Is Your Hard Drive Full? Here’s How to Move Images to Another Drive in Lightroom. « Julieanne Kost's Blog If that doesn't work because you don't have enough hard drive space to run Lightroom yet, here is another set of instructions to move your files using the finder to the other hard disk: How do I move only my photos to another hard drive, leaving the catalog where it is? - The Lightroom Queen. If you follow that, as soon as you confirm all your images are on the new hard disk, you can delete them from your internal one. She is not so clear about that part but if you don't delete the originals that you moved off you don't free up space. You should move the folder structure over to the new hard disk and then reconnect the folders in Lightroom. That should make it refind all your images.
That said, if you are uncomfortable with the computer in itself, your best bet is to find a local photography club. There is invariably a Lightroom savvy person in there that could help you move your files. That might be your best bet if you are uncomfortable moving these yourself. A general mac savvy person like you would find at an Apple store or so generally will not be able to help you with this except when they are photographers themselves and know Lightroom. You might get lucky with that.

  • Oracle database reorganization (moving datafiles to new filesystems)

    Hi All,
We are planning to perform a database reorganization (moving datafiles to new filesystems) in our Production environment using SAPDBA.
We had noticed in our recent performance reports that few datafiles in some of the SAPDATAxx filesystems are having higher I/O contention and are putting heavy load on those filesystems resulting in poor performance. So, we had identified the datafiles and planning to move them to new SAPDATA filesystems (uniformly distribute the datafiles to stabilize the I/O). Below are the version information.
    SAP: 3.0F
    Oracle: 9.2.0.8
    OS: HP-UX 11.23
    SAPDBA: 6.20
I'm going through SAP notes and Oracle documentation on this. Can you please share your experiences if similar activity was carried out by any of you and the documents relating to this.
Your inputs on this is very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vasu

If your goal is just to make use of new storage, it is fairly straightforward and quick to move the datafiles as others mentioned. However, moving the datafile will NOT reorganize tables/tablespaces.
You can optionally reorg tables/tablespaces in addition to the move of datafiles. This generally saves space and helps performance. If you decide to reorg, I would suggest you move the datafiles to faster storage then reorg (since reorg itself is highly IO intensive).
    Some points to consider:
    - perform the reorg when business use is least
    - perform online reorg where possible
    - online reorg creates temporary snaps, typically in the users default tablespace, make sure it has sufficient space
    - start with small tables/tablespaces first to get throughput estimate and also estimate of reduction in size
    - estimate the size of target tablespace (how small it is going to be compared to source) and build the target tablespace smaller to avoid wasting space
    - watch the space usage of the target tablespace when the reorg is running
    - if you are reorging individual tables, make sure the indexes are rebuilt
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Shan

  • Moving to a new mac, what is the painless way to transfer contents of one m

Moving to a new mac and I'm pretty sure about how to go about doing it but thought I'd ask. Can I connect a firewire cable from old mac to new mac, connect network wise and take the home folder from the old computer and place it in the new home folder of my new mac? will this copy all my info from my old mac to my new mac and place everything in it's appropriate folder? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would suggest you use the built-in application called Migration Assistant to transfer you data.
The first time you start up your new Mac, a screen will prompt you as to whether you'd like to transfer your data from your old mac. At that point you start up the old mac in target mode and connect it via Firewire to the new Mac. Then just follow the directions to transfer your data.
You can also choose to do the transfer at a later time. The Migration Assistant is always available in the /Applications/Utilities folder.
I strongly recommend against simply transfering your home folder from one computer to the other.

  • Moving into a new place

    Hi,
My friend and I are moving into a new flat and are attempting to get our utilities set up before we move in. How do I go about finding out if we have a Bt landline when I cannot get access to the property and do not have a known phone number for the premesis.
If there is no way to do that could you please tell me the conventional method of finding out so I can tell my letting agency as they do not seem to know ( appauling isn't it).
    Any help is appreciated,

  • Upgrading & moving LR to new computer

Hello! I would love some help.
I have a question with a few question in it!
I have been using LR3 for 2 years and have one catalogue that has been on the same computer the whole time.
I just bought a new mac and want to do 3 things:
    1. Get LR on to my new computer (yes I still have the cd and #)
    2. Upgrade to the newest LR (5 I think)
    3. Get my catalogue that I have been using for 2 years on to the new computer  and have it work with LR 5
I want all these things to work together, I am hoping that I will be able to upgrade to LR5 and still be able to use my old catalogue.
So my question is what should I do first? Get LR on new computer, then upgrade, then transfer catalogue and will it all work like that.
I would love any and all help!  -- thank you - Alibaba

    Separate the two tasks.
Upgrade on the same computer, once you are sure everything is working, then move everything to the new computer; OR
Move eveything to the new computer in LR3, once you are sure everything is working, upgrade to LR5.
It probably doesn't matter which order you this.
Instructions on moving to a new computer
    http://www.lightroomqueen.com/2009/02/28/how-do-i-move-lightroom-to-a-new-computer/
Also, throughout this entire process, do not use this as an opportunity to rearrange files and folders for any reason, do not try to "clean up" your folders or make the more logical. Move them to a new computer yes, but other than that, no rearranging or moving files or folders from here to there.

  • Moving to the new BT Mail system

    Hi,
I have just received an email today and it looks like I will be moving to the new BT Mail system shortly.  So I am trying to ensure that I am all set up for it, but have two related questions I have not been able to find answers to ...
    1. I do not currently use the Yahoo web-pages, but my e-mail is instead forwarded to another account where it is merged with all my other e-mail from various accounts. Will this forwarding be carried over to the new system, or must I set it up again?
    2. The T&Cs worringly says that I must look at the BT Email webpage, otherwise my account will be suspended. What is actually meant by this as there are also instructions for collecting the email via IMAP and POP for PC programs or on a mobile device. How will people using email forwarding or a separate program/mobile be affected?
    With thanks

I do believe that BT Retail are starting to move existing customer's who email accounts are on the BTYahoo email system to the new BT Mail system provided by Critical Path from this month onwards (ie from March 2014 onwards)
Though always be wary if you do recieve an email claiming to be from BT Retail or BTplc asking for your details or to verify your account.

  • After moving files to new iMac, an iMovie project won't play audio music tracks

I bought new imac. Transferred files using target disk method and firewire - drag and drop.  All files appear to have moved OK to new imac.  But when I try to resume working on an imovie project that I had started on the old imac, the itunes music clips I dragged into a series of clips does not play the music, even though the green bar appears under the clips and the audio adjustments appear to be the same as in the old imac, which I still have.  The audio that is "built in" to the original clips when the videos were made on the camera are still there and play.  Help, please ?  Thanks.

    Hi
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
    iDVD pref file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    and is named. com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !
    iDVD updated ?
    Apple Codec updated ?
Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets
No of Colors - must be set to millions
