    Hello everyone,
Firstly I want to say sorry for my english, it's not so good : ( My problem is little stupid, some time ago I noticed my notebook is staring longer, and it is because of Bios Screen.
Now is the stupidest moment, so....
When I connect my mouse or something else like pen drive to my LEFT USB 2.0 port I see my bios screen by 25-30 seconds, but when I connect it to RIGHT port then it's starting normally (bios screen = 3-4 seconds) I updated my Bios from 1.0d to 1.0q and it didn't solved my problem : ( Please help me, I know it's stupid issue but it's very annoying. Thanks, have a nice day! :D

  • Help on MSI KT4AV(MS-6712)

    hi
i have assembled a pc using......
    Motherboard -    MSI KT4AV(MS-6712),
CPU -       AMD Athlon Xp 2200+,
    Graphic Card -    MSI G4 MX440-T8X (8895),
    Ram -       Hynix 256MB DDR (     ),
    HDD -       Samsung 80GB 7200RPM (SP0802N),
    Combo Drive -    LG (GCC-4480B),
    Sound Card -    In-built,
    Monitor -                    Samsung 15",
    Modem -                    Internal (Smartlink 56K ),
    PS -       Un-branded good quality,
    there are some problems,
    1) i am unable to get the pictures on my TV screen,
i dont know how to connect the TV-OUT connector to my TV.
    2) my system was showing athlon XP 1500+ before but after i visited the AMD's     Forum i got the clue to make it 2200+ by increasing the FSB setting from 100 to 133, now it is showing 2200+.
    3) i have seen this line in one thread here in this forum that
(* do not install or uninstall any VIA AGP drivers, including those in VIA 4-in-1 drivers...) , if i should not install this driver then will it be OK not installing this driver...?
    4) (KT4V BIOS version 1.7 and above fixes the CRC errors (IDE problems that cause crashes) ) , and i have this new motherboard KT4AV with BIOS v(     ) ,
but i am having this problem as the system crashes and hangs or blue screen appears and does not support this harddisk, and i have to use a samsung tool to downgrade the UDMA mode of the HDD to 100 MBPS,
(This program will change the UDMA mode of all UDMA 133-supporting Samsung drives in the system)and the samsung says thatthe cause is...
    Cause
This issue is caused when the data transfer rate between the motherboard (or host system) and HDD is erroneously set beyond the maximum data transfer capability of host, 100MB/sec. Under this environment, the host system fails to read data correctly from HDD resulting in unsuccessful OS installation.
Please note that this issue is caused by the incompatibility between the motherboard and HDD(s), not by the faulty Samsung hard disk drive.
Now should i have to use my system at 100 MBPS speed as my HDD supports 133 MBPS...?
    5) what is the use of the (IrDA Infrared Module Header: JIR1), how can i use it?
    6) and the last question is this board has (6-channel software audio codec ), how to use it? ans i don't have the S-Bracket as i did'nt get it with my motherboard, and i want to use the 6 channel output from my PC , please help me how to use it ...
    thanks
    please help me ,,,,

    1) Not sure, see p. 3.
    2) Is pretty normal procedure around here.
    3) Who on earth might have written that? But I suggest you enter 'Safe Mode' when installing 4-1 drivers. You had better have them.
    4) Not sure, see p. 3.
    5) Someone must confirm this, but I think its for remote networking.
    6) If you have integrated or other sound card, drivers, cables and speakers there is no problem. See the manual, please.

does this mean if you use another video card you can boot fine?
or entire computer can't boot no matter what you've tried so far?

  • [VIA] MSI-KT4AV and PC3200 RAM

    Hi guys!
I've got an MSI-KT4AV mainboard, an Athlon XP 1800+, and a 512mb 400mhz Pc3200 module. This is the problem: I changed the DDR module from a 512mb 266mhz module to the 512mb 400mhz module; the mainboard has always worked fine with the first type of DDR module, but with the second one, the PC doesn't boot up. I try to change the memory but there is the problem yet. I try also the DDR Module 400mhz on another MSI Mainboard and that mobo function but not the MSI-KT4AV!!!!!   I'm sure that this mobo support the DDR Module 400mhz but I don't know why the system doesn't boot up. Another important thing: when I press the power button to switch on the PC, the Display is totally black with no signal but I can clearly hear 3 beeps from the motherboard: BEEP BEEP BEEP silence BEEP BEEP BEEP silence BEEP BEEP BEEP and so on....
    Can anyone help me?
Thank you so much for Your reply....

Did you try clearing your CMOS?  Look in your mobo manual if you don't know how.  That should fix it. :D.
If it still doesnt, put your old stck of memory back in, go into your bios, and look under Frequency and Voltage.  Look for Memory voltage/vDimm.  Adjust it to 2.7 or 2.8v.  Save settings and exit.  Wait for windows to boot and shutdown.  Then try your new ram again. =D

  • [VIA] related to msi kt4av (ms 6712) mainboards

hi! I've got a msi kt4av and a few things bother me!
1 the cpu voltage is higher than I set it in windows: I set it to 1.65 but it goes to 1.675 in reality! this goes for all of the voltage values. anyone got this problem?
2 I'd like to buy a new hdd, preferably over 200 gb! on the faq of the board it says that the max supported is 160 gb, but I have doubts it has been updated anywhere recently!
could those of you that have or had this mainboard, help me out a bit? thanks

if a mobo says the max supported HDD size is over 137gb, (eg 160gb) then any size above that (eg 200gb) will work. after the 137gb limit on older boards, the next max size limit i believe is somewhere around 4 terabytes
as for CPU voltage, you should set that in BIOS, and preferably to AUTO, unless you're overclocking and know what you're doing windows utilities don't always read values correctly

  • Post Code 9A Error, 990FXA-GD80, Bios bug

After Bios B.40 i got same strange bug, sometimes when i load a oc profile my pc get stuck at 9A error and the only thing that i can do to recovery is use ctrl+home to recovery it, clear cmos is unless.
After a lot of tests to try understand what was happening i got the answer.
My CPU is a X3 710 (waiting for bulldozers) so i always use the unlock cpu core feature. I used this x3 with unlocked core for 2 years without any problem, so the locked core is good.
If i load a oc profile with unlock cpu core feature enabled from a already unlocked stage, everyting is ok, but if my bios seting "unlock cpu core" is disabled and i load a oc profile with it enabled my pc do 6 beeps, restart and get stuck at 9A post code.
I have sure that in Bios B.30 this wasnt happening.

I was talking about a bios BUG that can damage the mainboard, and a lot of ppl cant recovery their bios like i did.
I posted to help ppl with same issue and alert others to avoid it.
I informed MSI about it using the right channel.

    Hello!
    Overclocking questions go somewhere else.
If you don't absolutely need to update BIOS to solve a problem, resist the temptation.
And if you do... Go back to the version that made you smile!
We ask people to state the max ampères the PSU can do. There is a list on the PSU box.

  • What's happened to my board? (MSI KT4AV-L)

    I have a bit of a problem,
    I have a MSI KT4AV-L with a AMD Athlon XP3000+ Processor.
Here's the mail i've just sent to the tech support of where I got the board from..
    Quote
Yesterday, I started to have problems with the internal network port - it was not finding the my gateway, however when I tried the exact same cable and router port on my laptop, it all worked fine.
I decided to reformat and re-install windows XP, in case it was a software error, however this still didn't solve it.  The basic problem was that I was getting Timeouts - I tried pinging the router and it was a mixture of successes and failures.
I went into the BIOS and changed back to "Default" settings and restarted - this has made matters worse - now my Graphics card is not working correctly and i'm not able to see anything on the monitor at all due to this.
These facts have made me feel that the Motherboard kid is faulty - I also noticed that the XP3000 chip I had was only showing up in windows as a 1.9ghz processor - not sure if this is correct or not.
Do you have any suggestions or can you give me a manufacture contact so I can try and resolve this issue without needing to send it back - I would appreciate a quick reply as I use this machine for work and it is causing me to delay some freelance projects that I am working on.

    Hello,
Did they get back to you?
Please make a list of all your components, including the power supply + details of the sticker.
    eg,
    +12v = 10a
    +5v = 20a
    XP3000+ is 2.16Ghz
You need to enter the BIOS and set the FSB to 166Mhz.
Press DEL when you turn the PC on or restart,
go to Frequency/Voltage control > press enter
FSB > press enter, change it to 166Mhz. >press enter
press escape, then goto save and exit > Y > press enter
So that is one problem out of the way.
GFX card problem, is your card AGP 4x or 8x?
Now would be a good time to post that list

  • MSI KT4AV-L w/ Radeon 9800 Pro at 8x Lockups!

I have the latest 4 in 1 drivers, and the latest Catalyst drivers and it seems that whenever I try running 3DMark2001SE it locks up almost immediately.   Now if I use SmartGART to lower my AGP from 8x to 4x it runs flawlessly.  Though I can't help feeling that there is some sluggishness in the video.  I actually think that my old 4x GeForce 3 Ti500 ran smoother! (I had that on a Soyo Dragon Plus motherboard)
    System configuration:
    MSI KT4AV-L
    Athlon XP 2500+
    Radeon ATI 9800 Pro
    2 sticks of 256Meg Corsair
    60Gig IBM Deskstar
    Yamaha 24x CDRW
    Cendyne (Pioneer A05) DVD-RW
Antec Sonata case with 380W PS
    +5v 35A, +12v 18A, +3.3v 28A, -5v .5A, -12v 1.0A, +5v SB, 2.0A

If you don't have an actual solution, then please don't post. Thank you for your input.
Not a good way to get help.
Welcome to the world of "new" technology, it takes a little time to get it perfected. As mentioned earlier in the thread, 8X has no perfomance advantage over 4X, and 8X is causing problems, that disappear by using 4X. Until ATI and/or VIA can develop a cure, you have 2 choices:
    1. Run 8X mode, and live with the problems.
    2. Run 4X mode, and have no problems, and no loss in performance.

    Hi,
It's a new install. I get the following info on booting the machine with OEL 4 update 5-Kernel 2.6.9-55.0.0.0.2.Elsmp
BIOS bug: Legacy free FADT detected, but FADT size (129) is incorrect!
    The machine keep rebooting.
    Please help.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Tommy,
Tried the acpi off switch. Didn't work. In fact I redid the install with the linux acpi=off. However no luck. I switched acpi to no in BIOS too, however, no luck with that either.
The reboot issue persists with ACPI: unable to locate RSDP showing up.
Will try the to look for the USB setting in BIOS as per your suggestion and get back to you.

  • MSI KT4AV-L and DDR400

I have a msi kt4av-l mobo, a 512 stick of ddr400 and a athlon xp 2600+ running at fsb 166. the memory stick is only stable when i make it run at 266 mhz, 333 and 400 causes random reboots. so i wonder if anyone can help me get my memory to run stable at 400 like it´s supposed to do

    Hello,
You can either overclock the CPU FSB to 200Mhz to match the 400DDR memory,
that will make the memory run at its full potential.
    Or
Leave the CPU FSB at the default speed, 166Mhz and underclock the memory to 333DDR.
That way you will get the best system performance possible. You should not overclock the CPU.
Please note that the memory can only run at its full potential if the CPU FSB is the same, 200Mhz FSB and 400DDR memory.
And as you do not have a 200Mhz FSB CPU, running the memory at 400DDR or 333DDR is the same. Due to the CPU FSB.
    Did SPD work?

  • Msi kt4av problem - overlay??

    Hi,
I can't get rid of a very serious problem. I have bought a MSI KT4AV board together with AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton processor and ATI Radeon Graphics card. I get very weird things on my screen every time I want to play a movie or see a picture in the standard Windows XP picture browser. I don't see any JPEGs in IE either. I thought the reason for this was the incompatibility between the ATI card and the VIA chipset and exchanged this board for MSI nVidia GeForce FX5200. I also changed the motherboard with another piece of the same type but the problem still remains. To give an imagination of what happens: http://www.volny.cz/smudlicek/screen/screen.jpg . I am a little bit desperate. I don't think the problem could be in the processor I am still suspicious about the board. Any clues??? Thanx
    Maacek

If it is mostly jpeg, I would check the file association. In my system there is no program assigned, /Explorer/Map alternatives in ME and in Swedish).
It doesn't display jpegs well on webpages. The 4in1 drivers are installed, BIOS unchanged. File assosiations are for sure not the cause for this problem.

  • MSI KT4AV no boot issue

I'm having a heck of a time getting my computer to boot back up I get 3 long beeps. This does not match anything I've found for codes. I went back in and installed the D-Bracket 4 LED diagnostic bracket.
This "normally" should show 4 red LED's on boot up. I get 3. The number 1 LED is dead, nothing showing. It then goes to number 2 and 4 red and number 3 green. It stays there and goes through the 3 long beeps.
Is it RAM or is it memory ???
    anyone know for sure ??

Well, I was going to post all teh specs...but. I was getting pretty frustrated with it when I "re-set" the power switch on the back of the PWS. I'm running an ANTEC Sonata box and PWS. When I turned the switch off and on at the back I was able to boot up to a point.
I had jumped the CMOS earlier thinking it was the problem. So I had to go back through and reset all the setup config...that done it works like a champ again....
I had reset the Vcard and Memory, no help. I had a guy at a computer store tell me the 2 sticks X 256 were not compatiable and that was causing the trouble. He was a little perplexed when I told him it had ran like that for months....He did want me to bring the box in so he could fix it....wonder what that would have cost ?? I guess if you replace enough parts it will work...
Bottom line : 3 lond beeps with a MSI KT4AV board VIA chipset and ANTEC PWS try turning it off and on at the back...worked for me.
Never was able to find an actual listing for those 3 long beeps...

  • REQ - MSI U270 BIOS mod with unlocked UEFI option

Hi guys, I'm new to this board.
I've searched everywhere and couldn't find any MSI U270 BIOS mods. I'm trying to upgrade to the Windows 8 BIOS, but since the update package can only be used under UEFI mode, I'd have to enable UEFI in my BIOS. BUT, there isn't an option to do that, and there isn't a DOS version of the BIOS update either.
    Thanks in advance.

unlocked bios won't help you with this
