  • HELP! Why is the music sounding distorted

Hi there, so i put on all music on the ipod, and two days later it is sounding all distorted and garbled, do i have to take it all off and start again? This ipod nano sure has its imperfections...thanx

    The equalizer might be on.
On the nano, even if the equalizer is set to off in the iPod settings, the equalizer setting in iTunes is used. If you have a track in iTunes with a custom EQ set to, say, "rock" the iPod will use rock. It may sound fine though the computer speakers but not so good though the earbuds.
Not all iPods are consistent about how they use the per track EQ settings from iTunes. On a 5G iPod, for example, setting the EQ on the iPod to off means it plays everything flat.
You could try setting the EQ on the iPod nano to "flat" while the song in question is playing. If that clears it up you should set that song to use a flat EQ in iTunes. Then it will always play like that on the nano.
Most modern music doesn't need equalization and adding it usually makes music sound distorted and garbled.

  • Music is distorted

    Hello,
I was trying to update my music library yesterday after the uploads I made I wanted to listen the songs on my device (Iphone 4S) but the sound of music was distorted, I was hearing small overlaps.
I've tryed to Restart, it didn't worked, then I got into the forums and tryed all I've found (Reset = lock+home, restore network settings, restore settings) but none of these workd, so here I am asking for your help.
The problem is only in Music, no other player (youtube, soundcloud) was having this issue.
I am afraid to restore (delete) all the settings and content because I do have important notes and contacts.
Thanks a lot for your time,
    Adrian

Yeah sorry. by restarted I ment restored, and also
now that Ive been messing with it more I have noticed
is I have my headphones in listening it sounds fine
until I tip it one way or another instead of leaving
    it on a flat surface.
That seems like a problem with connections of the earphone jack inside the iPod.

  • Using Airport Express and music sounds distorted.....

I just hooked up my airport express to my whole house stereo and the music sounds distorted.  I've adjusted the volume on the amplifier, the room volume control and the computer volume control.....and it still sounds distorted.  Any ideas on what I can do?

Temporarily, plug a pair of headphones into the AirPort Express and check the sound quality. It is OK, you know that everything is working through the AirPort Express.
Often the audio plug will make poor contact with the audio jack on the Express which can cause a hum or intermiitent audio signal. Wiggle the plug around to see if this might be the case. You may need to try another audio cable.
Make sure that you are not plugging into a PHONO input on the amplifier. You would want to use AUX or CD or even TAPE would work if you have an older amplifier/receiver.

  • IPhone 5 Audio on Movies and music is distorted

I have a new iphone 5 and noticed a great deal of distortion when playing back music and videos. I have tried the EQ settings (all of them)  with no improvement. All my videos and music are apple lossless (music) and videos are at least CD quality audio. I have had absolutely no issue with my iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone 4 before this new phone. I even did a re-install, reset, etc...
My ear monitors are Ultimate Ears Monitor 7's.
Did Apple change the audio codec or something ?  Will re-converting in Handbrake help?
One of my test Movie files is the U2 Concert From the Rose Bowl which was purchased from Itunes which is now distorted when listening to  with volume slightly elevated. This is the same as other movies purchased and converted. All of my conversions always are at high quality.
Is anyone else experiencing the change in audio since changing over to the new phone?
    on a temp fix ...
I did purchase two apps that seem to help from the App store.
For the music is Audioforge equalizer
and for the Movies, CineXplayer (which I am very happy with)
If anyone can add to this, please do ....
    Thanks

So what happened?  Did they end up replacing it?

  • I updated my itunes now all my music is distorted

I recently updated my itunes and now all my music has this high pitch distorted sound. Is my music ruined or is this just an update glitch?

    Try resetting ..
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that didn't help, if you have a computer, place the iPod in recovery mode to restore.
iOS: Unable to update or restore
Otherwise you may need to take the device to an Apple store or Apple certified repair provider.

  • ATV slideshow music is distorted

I can play music from the ATV through the connected receiver and it sounds fine. If I play a photo slideshow with the same playlist in the background, it comes through distorted. The receiver is showing the input as maxing out.
Is there a setting someplace to correct this?

  • Quiet  Music/Speak Distortion

Recently, I have begun playing music through a pair of wired speakers at work and at home. However, I noticed a couple of problems. Most of the time, the music balance seemed off, certain parts of a song being barely audible, or having having certain instruments sound distorted or quiet. At first I had though this was a problem with the wired speakers themselves, but I later got a Bluetooth pair that suffer from the exact same issue! For whatever reason, I can't get this fixed.
Then came the truly strange part. The music sounds just fine trough my ear buds, no imbalance or distortion. Then, I tried to play the same music through the Iphone 4s' built in speakers, and got the same imbalance and distortion as through the wired and Bluetooth external speakers! Has anyone else encounter such a mysterious and obnoxious problem? And are there any possible solutions?
    Edit:
I am using and Iphone 4s. IOs 7.1.1.
This problem is still persisting, despite restarts, resets, and having my setting clear.
Any insight to this issue is greatly appreciated.

Lets get that music jamming! How is the volume when you increase it without the axillary cord? Is the ringer fine? Have you tried to plug in with another axillary cable? Does the issue persist? Share details so that we can help!

  • IPhone music is distorted

    Hello..
I've been an iPhone owner for about two weeks now and I am on my second iPhone. The first one had an issue where the back light would not stop flickering.
My current iPhone has a problem where if I change the equalizer settings to anything other than off or flat the sounds is distorted, especially on anything with bass. I am using the headphones that came w/ it and the problem seems to occur on various songs from various artists. I've tried changing the sound check setting in both iTunes and on the phone and various other things but to no avail. Does anyone else have this? do I have another defective phone?
This is my first apple product ever and so far I'm off to a shaky start to I'm hoping someone can give me some answers. I never noticed this issue w/ my last phone which was running 1.0.2, could this be a result of the increased volume Apple added in 1.1.1?
    Thanks,
    R

I am posting this just to answer the question that I originally asked so future readers can find a solution:
If you are seeing the problem described above in my original post then it is likely caused by the sound level of the MP3 being set too high. This is a bit level setting that each MP3 has and can be easily adjusted down to 'normal' limits w/o altering the quality of the mp3 (no need to re-encode).
Use a tool called MP3Gain (http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net) and re-level your music to an acceptable level (~90db). The tool will use 89db as 'Normal' which is perfectly acceptable, I used 92db. I found that songs that distorted in iTunes and/or the iPhone had a volume level of 97~102db which is simply too high. Lowering the db level to normal ranges (89~92db) will resolve the distortion and allow you to use ANY EQ SETTING - even bass booster! (sweet!).
Do some searches and reading about MP3Gain on iLounge.com as it is heavily discussed in that forum (where I discovered the solution). Also understand the differences between "track gain" and "album gain" within the tool - I used Album Gain for my entire collection.
Also, check settings in whatever you are using to rip your music and see if the tool has a "gain control" or "volume or level adjustment" for ripped songs as you may want to adjust this down a tad if the problem persists. The tool I use (CDex) automatically sets ripped music at ~90db so it works well.

  • Music is Distorted and Skips

I currently have the iphone 5 and my software has been udpated to 6.1.4. But the issue I am having is that, when I'm running or working out, my music would sound distorted and skips. This is the only time it happens. Any suggestions or ways to resolve this? Thank you so much!

Hi, I have the same issue, on MP3 and AAC almost can't notice, but using HE-AAC its very noisy.
My wife use the Ipod Nano (with touch) and the same song (excatly same source, because I shared the folder between different users on the computer) and the music plays perfectly.
ps.: I have tested using the same song, from same source and same compression and also the same earphones (that came with my ipod classic)
Its software a bug or hardware?
