Help! Music Libray messed up!

Ive recentley up dated my Itunes to version 7.2.0.35 since the upgrade all the music has been rearanged in song title order all artist album details have disaperaed. Previousley it was all araged in Artist/album order. It there away I can i reagrage all songs in album and artist order with out have to go through 20+gigs of music doing it manualy?

If all your artist and album information in your tags is blank, iTunes uses this information to sort and organise your library. So the sorting changes are probaly secondary to the loss of the tags.
These are files your ripped rather than purchased from the iTunes store?
Someone else who was having problems with information being changed, although not the same as you, had Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 with folder watching on.
If you don't have any other software that might update your tags, then I don't know what is going on.
Windows Media Play has a feature in options that can automatically get tag information - do you have that?
If you ripped the CDs with iTunes then you could use iTunes to get the information again from Gracenote. Or if you used other software, you could maybe use that, or tag editors can often do this too.
Or if you have a backup your could restore from that.

  • I updated my ipod touch to 5.0.1 but now all my artists in my music are messed up. Help?

I updated my ipod touch to 5.0.1., and it works great except for one thing. All my artists are messed up, it's like my ipod while it was updating, took the time to go online and look up exactly who sang what. For example i had tons of disney songs, like the lion king's circle of life, the little mermaid's kiss the girl, ect into one artist that i named "Disney". But now they are all seperated into "Lion King Soundtrack" and that kind of stuff. Also, for example this one band, NeverShoutNever has many ways to write their name: Never Shout Never, NeverShoutNever!, NEVERSHOUTNEVER, and in my ipod they are all put as 3 different artists. But on my itunes playlists it doesn't do that.
How can i put it back like i had it? It's very annoying and very confusing. Please help!

You can try unsyncing all the music and then resyncing. Sometimes that works. Sometimes not.  This ia problem with iOS 5/iTunes 10.5

  • Music is messed up (please help!)

Since updating to iOS 7, I have run into a problem with my music. Songs that I listen to repeatedly have suddenly changed octaves, and, at some parts, instruments are missing from the sound. These are all songs that I've listened to many, many times before, so I know how they should sound and when they are different. The songs also sound different in iTunes
I was instructed to update my iTunes to 11.1.3, which I did. This fixed the affected songs in iTunes. I connected my iPod to my laptop to sync, and it did nothing but make matters worse. Even more songs have messed up on my iPod (missing instruments and octave changes), and they are affected in iTunes as well. My EQ is off, and turning it on does not help the situation.
Can anyone help me fix this? Please?

Are you using headphones? Does it only occur if using headphones?
    If yes:
    - Try another set of headphones
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • HELP iTunes is messing up my music

for some reason, iTunes changes the song length of all my music and either cuts the song off or makes it super long, like a 5 minute song says its 24 minutes. And when i download it to my ipod it is cuttin off songs and others say they are longer than they are whats goin on?? i tried uninstallin iTunes and reinstalling but it didnt work, and the song files saved on my computer say the right lenght and are completely fine on any other media player, but when it goes to iTunes it goes haywire!!
    please help

I have a similar problem with iTunes 6.0.2.23
Let's use Korn's 1:15 song, Dead. I double clicked one day to play it, and suddenly the song length changed to 17:15 minutes.
It's fine when I play it, because it stops after 1:15 seconds. But for longer songs showing up at like, 0:50 seconds, they get cut off and that *****.
Deleting them from iTunes and then putting them back in doesn't help.
    Suggestions, please?

There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • My ipod touch music is messed up.. How do i fix it?!

Hey. My ipod touch wont play some music tracks..They are songs that i ahve recently play before but now they wont play. The ipod will play some songs perfectly then not play others at all. It will say its playing but then wont play it will just sit there or it will say its playing one song then play another. And more stuff.

You probably will need to take or send the iPad to Apple and pay for replacement. But tell us what you mean by "color is messed up" and perhaps there's a suggestion we can make short of replacement.
    Regards.

  • Could my music be messing up my iPod?

    Hey everybody -
I am just now sending in my THIRD iPod for the same problem: I hear the harddrive spinning up, and then it clicks and stops, and after a while I get the sad iPod/folder icon. For a while I thought that it was maybe the iPod, but they can't be that crappy or no one would buy one!
So is it possible that maybe the music I'm putting on my iPod can be messing it up?
    Thanks

I had the exact same problem. I sent in my old iPod, and the new one I recieved worked great for about three days, and then it started doing it. Except I thought I had physically damaged the hard disk somehow. It works perfectly now though. Here's what I did, I don't know the details of your computer, so I can't get terribly specific.
    1. Turned off fast user switching for Windows XP. This seems to be something you need to do to get your iPod to work correctly. To do this, click on start, and then click on control panel. Once the control panel opens, click on user accounts. Click on Change the way users log on and off. The next screen will show two options, Use the Welcome Screen and Use Fast User Switching. Uncheck Use Fast User Switching. Then click on Apply Options. That's all for that.
    2. If you use Spysweeper, open the program and click on Shields. Then click on Startup Shield. Click Edit Startup Items. Agree to any prompt it might show. I did this a long time ago, and don't remember if it ask you if you're sure the first time you do it. Make sure QuickTime Task is checked in the menu that comes up. Also make sure iTunes Helper is checked as well.
And that's all I did. It may have been the fast user switching, or Spysweeper, but I'm not sure, since I did both at the same time.

  • Music totally messed up

If anyone can sort this I will be so grateful
I have an iphone 4s and yesterday I bought a load of songs on my iphone's itunes account. After a few downloads I noticed by songs and their artwork had changed around so one song would have another songs pictures as theirs, I deleted the songs that had this and re-downloaded them which seemed to help for a few but there are still some songs if you go on landscape mode of your music and see all the album covers there are still songs with messed up artwork. After the whole download I noticed some songs I had purchased had made themselves another album cover when I already had a song from that album already so instead of the song going into the existing album it made its own one I know it's not a mega deal its just very annoying going on landscape mode and seeing loads of the same albums show up all with one or two songs in it when they belong in the same album together! I went on my computer and the same thing has happened on there, there where two of the same albums all with different song in it, on both I pressed the 'show complete album' and re-downloaded the songs that should have been downloaded on that album but instead made themselves an exact replica, one of the albums downloaded the other albums songs onto it so it had a complete album but the other didnt download so I deleted all of the songs off that one and cept the album with all the songs on it.
So basically (sorry for all the waffle) has anyone had the same problem and if not what shall I do? No matter how many times I delete the song and redownload them they either have different artwork or had made a new album for itself and it's very annoying. I've just backed up my phone and I think I may wipe my phone and re-download everything on it or should I not do that?
If anyone can sort this I will literally be so happy it's been very annoying

See HT1766: iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes. Follow the advice on using iTunes for the backup and restore.
If you've made changes to album or artist details and your device shows both your edited copies and cloudy links to the unedited versions go to Settings > Music and turn off Show All Music.

  • Mac Acting Erratically: Please help Safari iTunes Messing Up

Okay I have an Apple PowerBook G4 running Mac OS 10.3.9 Panther (purchased late Nov 2003 was originally running 10.2.8 Jaguar) and up till a few days ago everything was running smoothly. That is until after I upgraded to QuickTime 7.1.2 and installed iTunes 6.0.5 when the problem started. Somehow my login.keychain for Safari got corrupted and I tried deleting original and making a new one.
Here's what has happened since then:
Any free media I have downloaded like videos or music off free sites (without Digital Rights Management) already still work. However, if I try downloading new stuff the new files don't work.
Since day before yesterday 4 times when I open iTunes it tells me my Library has been damaged. All my music files are still on my hard drive and are still playable but my iTunes Library file is corrupted -- how and why I don't know.
No music appears in my Library nor do any of my videos in .m4v format (iPod format) show up in my Library since then. I trash damaged file and re-import or select add to library and re-add all the media to my Library seems to work fine. I play them and most of them are playable. Even when Library works a few that played earlier have a skipping problem.
In Safari all my bookmarks got deleted -- I had to back, find the websites and re-add them -- fortunately when I closed Safari and re-launched the browser they remained saved the next time I closed and re-started the browser. However, third time (normally when something doesn't work twice they say third time's the charm) well the third time I opened Safari everything got deleted again.
My iTunes Library is acting erratically -- files I download don't work although files I already have are still playable usually except when my programs run across errors that didn't exist earlier.
I have Microsoft Office X 10.1.6 with the PowerPoint X and Excel X Security Updates, the Apple Security Updates 2006-002, 2006-003 and QuickTime 7.1.2 and iTunes 6.0.5.
When I originally downloaded and installed Security Update 2006-001 my Safari completely broke and would stop running and my Dock Menu dissappeared until restart but even then Safari stopped working. Could find no other solution than reinstalling OS X to return my Mac to pre Security Update 2006-001 levels. Not even Disk Utility solved the problem.
iTunes 6.0.2 also caused problems for me (I heard it caused problems on Windows also) the problem on my Mac was Disk Utility stopped working altogether. Fortunately, by deleting the game Chess from my Mac it fixed the problem. Today, I have Chess back on my computer because since my last OS reinstall I just updated my iTunes to 6.0.3 (I think) I now have iTunes 6.0.5 and have had no problems with Chess and iTunes or iTunes and another application like Chess preventing Disk Utility from working -- but now this problem I am describing where my Library erases itself regularly -- sometimes I restart iTunes and the new user wizard shows up and asks if I want iTunes to find my media and automatically add it to my Library when it does I say yes and it re-adds everything but somehow I have 2 files for every song on my computer and it re-imports (or imports) all my music, videos and podcasts back into my Library once and then re-imporitng it again
This time Safari is working but bookmarks are being erased and re-erased, iTunes is acting all screwy, files I download don't work when they should, I tried deleting and re-downloading a video I had saved on my hard drive (that I downloaded earlier) and the exact same file (no changes had been made to the file when it was re-uploaded) had errors playing when the download completed.
Fortunately, I had burned the video to a CD so I can re-copy it to my Mac and when I play it off the CD on my Mac or copy directly to Mac and play it works just fine.
Since downloading these updates cannot download anything anymore without errors when playing them.
If I downloaded same files earlier though they would have worked.
Only as a last resort would I do a clean reinstall of OS X -- thing is it would take a lot of work just to reinstall OS X, copy all my files I have backed up back to my hard drive, re-importing my music and artwork, re-installing Microsoft Office X and its updates, reinstalling some (but not all the latest ones if neccessary) of Apple's Security Updates, reupdating to Mac OS 10.3.9 to reinstall QuickTime 7.
I had like 283 files in my iTunes Library, including all my music, videos, podcasts etc.
Imagine how long it would take to get them all back in there; and I re-did it last night until it got erased again. Don't want to re-do it unless next time it stays permanently.
Just a note I also have Virex 7 on my Mac -- and it used to be a startup item but somehow it got disabled from starting up.
Also, I do have VLC Media Player but even that has been having problems with playing newly downloaded media files since I updated my QuickTime.
So the problem now is with my iTunes Library erasing itself continuously and even when its working sometimes refusing to play an entire track (it starts playing a song and then skips to the next one) I've checked my preferences and cross shading or whatever its called is unselected but sound checker is on.
Also the problem involves my Safari erasing bookmarks on its own as described above. Please help anyway you can!
As a last resort will do a clean reinstall, re-copy all my files back to my hard drive, reinstall my programs, re-update my Mac carefully etc.

Thanks for the help. I will take your advice and try running Disk Utility again. I have noticed sometimes when running Safari after quitting the application my defaults get changed -- that is my preferences go away. I have popup blocking and tabbed browing normally enabled by default it used to be if I enabled them as long as I didn't manually disable them that they would stay the same even after I quit and relaunch the browser, but now they get disabled when I quit and have to manually re-enable them again.
Also as noted bookmarks get deleted. Since the time I posted this thread I had at one time done a clean reinstall of OS X -- did it about 1-2 weeks ago. Not sure if videos I download on my Mac still have same problem but noticed if I download same videos on a PC that I used to download and play directly on my Mac that I could burn them to a CD or put them on a flash drive and transfer the file to Mac without any problems but downloading directly on Mac and then playing causes difficulty.
However, the same issue with Safari and iTunes has still been lingering for a while. I already have Mac OS 10.3.9 Combined Update installed should I try re-installing again? That would require me to reinstall OS X again and then update to 10.3.9. Or simply re-download and re-install 10.3.9 if possible over existing configuration so installing 10.3.9 over 10.3.9?
3 times out of 5 iTunes Music Library becomes damaged -- a few times I have tried since then deleting files in iTunes cache -- shouldn't become too big anyways -- otherwise it could become slow or something (good reason for cleaning Safari cache sometimes also) of course I wouldn't clean out the entire cache unless I had to or I thought that would fix the problem etc -- unless maybe it would even do a lot of good for resolving the problem.
I even tried trashing the damaged iTunes Library and the iTunes Music Library.xml file when the Library wasn't working.
If the problem re-occurs should I trash the iTunes preferences file(s) like iTunes.plist etc would help?

  • Help- music library disappeard after upgrading

Having just upgraded to iTune 5, the program will no longer load my iTunes library. I went to its preferences and ensured that the path was proper, but to no avail. I have tried for the last 4 hours to access the article on the support page about this, but I get a message that the server can not locate/load this article. Please help. Thanks.
    Bob

For Apple's "cure", go to the following support article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301895
However, I now have iTunes 5 working as it should, and with all of my music and my playlists. Just before upgrading the first time I cloned my entire hard drive to an external drive using Carbon Copy Cloner. When I could not get my playlist back, I erased my primary hard drive and cloned the external drive back to my primary. I then did the upgrade again, but with some changes. The first time I upgraded I accepted the Software Upgrade "offer" to upgrade 4 things at once - Quicktime, Java, iTunes, and something about iTunes for a phone. This time I first did the Quicktime and Java, restarted, repaired disk, permissions, and ran Disk Warrior. Then I upgraded the two iTunes downloads, and did all of the above maintenance again. It now works perfectly. However, I have no idea if these changes had anything to do with my success, or if it was just plain dumb luck and the alignment of the stars.

  • Help! iPod messes w/ iTunes 7.0

I need some help guys. I installed the new iTunes 7.0 and it works fine when there is NO iPod plugged in. But as soon as I plug either a 4 gig Nano or 30 gig Video in, it either goes extremely slow or freezes completely. Sometimes I am able to get it to start updating one of the iPods, but then it freezes and I have to end the program and unplug my iPod, and nothing on the iPod has been updated....
My question is, is there any kind of fix for this problem? Or do I have to go back to iTunes 6.# - and if I do this, will I loose my organized library of music? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

Have the same problem. Please complete the feedback for in itunes. At least we're three now with the same problem. I gonna try something, I've let you know how is goes.

  • Need help Music becomes voice cover??

Hi, just started using iMovie and finished my first project this weekend.
Though when I updated to iMovie'11 the music I added will not play!
I just realized that it is no longer added as music but as voice cover in my project. The wierd part is that one song still works and is added as music.
Can I change the voice cover (my mp3 song that has changed to voice cover) to "music" so that it will play again?
I tried to add the music all over but when I drag and drop the music file it automaticly is added as voice cover.
    Please help // Patrik

Hey I can help you with this one. First of all, yes your hard drive is formatted to 55.7gb of storage space the additional 4.3 gb is reserved for cache and software to work your ipod.
The bulk of your question regarding album art. I have a solution. Look up "iart", this software really has worked well for me. It even gives you lyrics for the tracks! It costs $10 though. Not too bad since it does all the work for you. Hope this helps.

  • Help - music not syncing

Can anyone help. My ipod was all set up, I've logged on today & tried to update ipod music but its not sycning & now all the playlists that were on my ipod have gone! They are sitting there in itunes but don't seem to be transferring across. The photos etc have. Any suggestions on how to fix? Thanks!

    Hi TQ9-er,
Have you tried these five iPod troubleshooting steps? See if they help with your issue:
    The Five Rs
Also, if this seems to keep happening when oyu sync your iPod with iTunes, and no new content get loaded onto it, let's try assigning your iPod a different drive letter, since that kind of problem may be a symptom of drive letter confusion.
For instructions, see this Knowledge Base article:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive
Also, are you able to sucessfully transfer content to your iPod if you're manually managing it (not auto syncing) in iTunes?

  • Help - music videos

Can someone please help me in getting my music videos to sync on iphone to the music video section? Nothing I have tried helps. I have the newest version of itunes. The music video formats appear to be correct (mpg).
    Thank for any help!

    Hello hush-puppy39, Allen,
You can choose which category iTunes stores video files in in the Info for the video.
    Locate the video in iTunes.
Right-click the video and choose "Get Info."
    Go to the "Options" tab.
As long as the video file is iTunes compatible, you should have three options in the "Media Kind" drop down menu: TV Show, Music Video or Movie.
You can find more information regarding importing and syncing videos here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1708
You can also try the "Create iPod or iPhone Version" option from the Advanced Menu in iTunes.
