HELP - My 1 year old really did something odd to all my colors/profile

Hi - I have a ImacG5 running on Tiger
My 1 year old was banging away at the keyboard
and now all my colors are really screwed up.
Progress bars look like Tiger colors (orange/black)
My apple is Orange, my windows are black and most of my icons are in pink.
How do I return to my old profile?

Try holding down Control-Option-Command & tapping the 8 key. My guess is this is what your daughter did. It toggles on & off the "white on black" display option in the Universal Access system preference. Not just white on black, it flips everything to its inverse, like a color negative of a photo.

This is my first time using this site, but it's helpful so far. Not sure if I need to retype the wording in the Discussion box above, but will do so just in case.

The simplest thing to try is a reset.
With Safari running, click on Safari in the menu bar and select Reset Safari ....
If that does not work, go to Safari / Preferences / Advanced.
The selections I have are shown here:

You need to be running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer to sync the iPhone 5; this may require buying a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store. OS upgrades aren't covered by the warranty.

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes?  If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

  • Help, My 5 year old had just bought Diamonds for £70 on an in house app.  What do i do? I really can't afford this.

Please help.  My 5 year old has just purchased £69.99 worth of diamonds for a gae on an in house app.  What do I do?

You can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
To try and stop it happening again you can turn off in-app purchases via Settings > General > Restrictions > In-App Purchases 'off', and you may also (depending upon the iOS version on it) have a Require Password setting on the Restrictions screen which you can set to 'Immediately'

  • Slow Macbook pro, ~1 year old;  Really HUGE Page Ins and Page Outs size, think 400 GB In vs 100 GB Out

Hi everyone, I have a macbook pro and it's so slow.  After scouring the internet a lot, and CCleaning my computer 359802 times and using Onyx, I finally realized why it's so s low.....my Page Ins and Page Outs are so big.  I have attached a screenshot that illustrates this.
I am not sure how my computer ballooned to this size, but it makes sense why it's like a turtle and is slower than my 4 year old Sony.
Can someone help me?? I am not sure what processes to get rid of and I feel like Google Chrome is taking up huge amounts of my Ram.  I mean yeah I open Google Chrome and run like 8 tabs and have Word and iTunes open, but my 4 years old Sony could run faster than this and I used to open like 12+ tabs on Chrome while running Word, Excel, Powerpoint, iTunes, and VLC on my Sony.  Which was nowhere near as powerful as this computer.  Supposedly.
    My computer Specs are:
    2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM
    Intel HD  Graphics 384 MB
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4
I would really appreciate any advice to get this down to normal.....since I hear most ppl have page ins and page outs in the MB or even KB.  Right now I'm running Google Chrome, Word, Ppowerpoint, iTunes, and Adobe PDF Reader.  I don't think this should be too unreasonable of work load.
    Thank you

The problem is not that your page ins are big, as that value resets when you reboot the system. However, your page outs are are almost 25% of your page ins, which means you can use more memory for the applications you run.  A page out is done when memory is full, and the system needs to add something else to memory, so it writes some memory to the hard drive to make room.  The guideline to add more memory is 10% to 15% page outs greater than page in's, and yours are more than that.
Your MacBook Pro can handle up to 16GB of memory. You might want to consider upgrading to 8GB, which would double what you have today. OWC and Crucial are two sources for quality memory. $42 for 8GB from Crucial, and you can usually find a % off coupon on retailmenot.com.

  • Help, my 3+ year old iMac has a fried logic board

I have an iMac G5 PPC 1.8GHz 20". Within the past year or so Apple replaced the power supply as my serial# fell under the G5 Repair Extension Program. It was working fine until recently when the screen would lock up and require reboots. Now it will not even boot up. I took it back to the Apple Store and was told it had a bad logic board. The tech showed me the bulging capacitors. The estimate for the repair is a whopping 600+ bucks.
I am very reluctant to invest that much dough when I was already thinking of selling this one and buying a new Intel based iMac. Besides, I need the money for gasoline for the next week! I thought I could attempt the repair myself until I found I could not get the part any cheaper than what Apple was going to charge.
This really bugs me as I've had the computer for just over 3 years. Any ideas on what I should do? Try to sell the remaining good parts? Can it even be used as a monitor? The display is still in fine shape. Hard drive is good too (250G). Thanks in advance.
    - Rick

My nearly 3 year old iMac died a couple months ago and after jumping through some hoops to get the date of purchase reset to what it should've been, I took my iMac in to a local service provider to get it fixed under the repair extension program.
I was then told when they diagnosed my computer that the logic board and power supply were both dead and needed replacing. When I brought up the repair extension program I was told that it only covered the power supply and not the logic board.
Should I contact Apple Customer Relations or should I go back to the people who diagnosed my computer and plead my case with them?
P.S The serial number of my computer falls into the range posted on the Repair Extension Program for the Video and Power Issues page, so I'd imagine my computer qualifies since it isn't 3 years old yet.
    Thanks

  • I did something to cause all the picture tiles in my iphoto to be the same pic. How do I go back so each pic comes up as itself?

I did something in iphoto that turned all my picture tiles to the same picture. How do I get them to go back to each picture being itself?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • 3 year old iMac  running very slow, freezing all the time. Advice?

My three year old iMac - 2.4Ghz processor, 2GB RAM, running Lion - is becoming almost totally useless. For many months it has been very slow, with multiple freezes, and then "force quits" on iPhoto and other applications.
First, I tried to free up some space - i now have about 44GB free. Then I ran disk utility etc, Then I ugraded to Lion.
But still I'm getting the same problems. Any suggestions?

It sounds like your problems are more serious than a 'hardware upgrade' issue. My late 2008 MacBook 2.4GHz with 2GB RAM runs applications (and iPhoto) fine. In addition I have run OS X operating systems with little more than 5GB free hard drive space with no issue (being able to run advanced applications like Photoshop).
My advice- if you have simply upgraded to Lion keeping all your systems settings and files intact then you may want to perform a 'clean install', you'll backup your important data/files in order to transfer them back again into Lion. You could even create a Time Machine Backup and use this to move only your data and applications back into your clean install of OS X Lion.

  • My  iPAD 1 just changed its background color to red. The unit is 3  years old. Is something breaking? Time for a new iPAD?

I am wondering if my iPAD (1st generation) has a major problem since the background color recently went to red?
The unit still works, but the appearance makes me think something is wrong and can only be fixed by buying a new iPAD.
Has anyone had this strange color change and how did you handle it?
    Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion, since I had forgotten how to reboot the unit.
Unfortunately, the red color persists and even beyond that there are some odd colors while the unit is in use.
    Thank again.

  • Help, my 2 year old has inverted my screen....

Ella, bless her has managed by playing with the keyboard to completely invert all my screen images, ie what was black is white, blue is yellow, purple is green etc, etc.
This seems to affect all aspects of he machine, desktop image, all icons, applications, but bizarrely when you restart it begins ok, then switchs over. Also the helpviewer now no longer works, hence my appearance here.
    Any ideas?

    James,
    1. For the screen problem, go to System Preferences...>Universal Access>Seeing>Display: Make sure Black on White is checked and Use grayscale is not checked. Ella probably used the keyboard combination of (Apple + Option + Control + 8)
    2. For the Help problem, Troubleshooting Help Viewer by Dr. Smoke may be "Helpful."

  • Please help my 12 year old, customer support was no use.

We cannot download apps directly to Ipod via WiFi but CAN download them directly to computer. Ipod states "account disabled." We have verified that all the account info on the computer ITune page is the exact same as on the Ipod for purchasing purposes. We have updated the Ipod and restarted it with no luck. Not sure if I want to risk restoring it (for risk of losing everything) but that may be what we have to do. Any idea's on what ITunes means by saying account disabled on the Ipod?

Open the Universal Access pane of System Preferences, click on Seeing, drag the Contrast slider all the way to the left and turn off the other options, except for those at the bottom.

this a disgusting company that they can't give phone support to a 67 year old woman that doesn't understand all this giberish computer

This is a user to user forum, not Adobe support... ask a question and someone may be able to help
The information you need to provide when you ask a question is below... sorry... video editing IS fairly technical
From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
NOTE - McAfee kills the program http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1460089?tstart=0
•You MUST use an account with Administrator Privileges to run Premiere Elements
•(Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for "All" versions of Premiere] will sometimes fix "odd" errors)
•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 12 with the 12.0.1 update).
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac"
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
    And some other questions...
•What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE you do any work?
•Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?
