HELP! my 2gb ipod nano can olny hold around 90 songs. what can i do?!?!

i got an 2gb ipod nano not long ao and was told it could hold more than 100 songs. i put all my music onto it and it barely holds 90. ive been told that i can remove the games and things that are taking up all the space. does anyone know how to do that?
plz answer

Well the 2GB nano is ESTIMATED to hold 500 songs based on
"Song capacity is based on 4 minutes per song and 128-Kbps AAC encoding WITHOUT artwork"
Songs encoded in another format, are longer that 4 min, are at a higher bitrate, have artwork ect ect will cut into how much songs the nano can hold.
One thing I recommend checking is to see if your songs are in the uncompressed WAV format. to do this in iTunes goto edit>view options and check "Kind". now you will see this heading in the list and it will tell you if the songs are WAV AAC or Mpeg (In other words MP3)

i have a 5th gen ipod nano that freezes when playing songs. i can't skip, turn down volume, turn ipod off. it simply screeches as the song is stuck at a specific point. any suggestions?

You have 2 options:  #1 - iPod Repair Tutorials
#2 - take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • 2GB ipod nano will only allow 40 songs and not 500.

My little sisters ipod nano will only allow forty smoething songs to be downloaded on it, but isn't 2GB supposed to get around 500? There is nothing else on it except music so there isn't anything else taking up memory space. And yes I have restored it numerous times. Please help!

Make sure that the Music files are compressed formats if you want to get the m ost out of the cpacity of your iPod. When the iPod is "advertised" as "500 songs" or what have you, it is based on circumstance that the song is an AAC format (.m4a) and I think an average of 4minutes long.
AAC is as small as you can get. Make sure the tracks are in that format, if they are already, then the tracks must be quite long.

  • HT1329 hi i need help with my ipod nano i want to get my music from my ipod to i tunes so that i can be able to transfer the music on my i tunes to my ipad mini can you help me with that ?

hi i need help with my ipod nano i want to transfer my music from the ipod to the itunes so that i can be able to transfer the music to my ipad can you help me with that ?

You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like"iPod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your iTunes library, and then sync your iPad.

  • Help. My iPod nano is stuck on repeat. it will only repeat the same song over and over. How can I change the settings

Help. My ipod nano is stuck on repeat. It repeats the same song over and over and wont play songs on the same album consecutively. How do I fix this

    Hey cemccarty,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The option to turn off repeat will depend on your iPod nano model. Here is the information for the latest model, the iPod nano (7th generation):

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Make sure you are resetting it correctly...

If you are, try a restore...
    Restore the iPod
When you connect it to your computer, does the hold icon appear on the iPod? (in the upper-left).
Also, try putting the iPod on hold. Then push down and drag it to the unhold position.
If it is stuck and will not unhold, you may need to send it in for service...

  • After runnin iPod Updater 2006-06-28 for my 2GB iPod Nano my computer froze

I installed iTunes 6.0.5 and my 2GB iPod Nano was recognized... everything seemed OK. I then tried running iPod Updater 2006-06-28 and this is when my problems began. After running the Updater program my iPod froze during the update process. I had to shutdown my computer in order to stop the updater program. Upon restarting my computer, iTunes no longer recognizes my iPod and if I run the updater program again it continues to freeze or does not recognize my iPod. When I plug in my iPod, Windows recognizes my iPod but my computer becomes very slow. Please note that when my iPod is not connected to my computer it appears to be OK but all my data has been removed. The updater program also appears to have been successful in updating my iPod to v1.2.
To try and resolve this issue I performed Apple's Five Rs and also followed Apples instructions for "iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes." Please see the links below for these procedures.

same problem with my 4GB nano. I believe the updater is messed up, as all previous updaters work fine to restore for me (with a needed kill of the ipodservice.exe)

Pls help me my ipod nano wont charge even if i use other laptop or pc . The battery notification tells its full charge but when i remove my ipod its still not charged

Is it not charging at all? Did you try to reset? If YES to both, request for a replacement of the ipod. Battery or the unit itself is defective. Cheers!

I have my IPOD nano for a while now and about a week ago. My husband bought one for his newphew and he had me download all the songs into the new IPOD (2nd Generation). Now Im having problems with mine. Everytime I try to charge and usually the screen will pop up to my original music player. This is what it says now when I open or charge my IPOD.
"The File iTunes Library.it! cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes".
Now, that I listen to it...all the music skip. Please help me..what should I do??
    Thank you

AAll of your iTunes purchases can be re-downloaded again. Log into iTunes Store, select the Purchases tab for Apps, Music, etc.
if you've been syncing your old iPod with iTunes, you can restore everything to your new iPod from the old backup.

I need help restoreing my ipod nano 3rd gen so its like new

Plug it to your computer using iPod USB Cable (any cable should work excluding iPhone 5 and Shuffle cables)...... when you see your iPod in iTunes go to that iPod and click restore...... the whole process should take (depending on what you have on your iPod and its is up to date) it should take no longer than 30 minutes...... then it will ask if you want to set up as new iPod or restore from back-up (itunes back up), since you said:
    so its like new
click set as new iPod and follow through what they said.

You are still under warranty if your iPod is "new."  Take full advantage of it by either calling iPod tech support, Apple Care if you have it or take it in to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.
