HELP! My Ai CS5.5 is being slow to the point where it's not responsive. How do I fix this?

Question

A couple weeks back my Illustrator software became so slow that most of the time it would close if I just opened a document.  I've tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it. Which worked for a little while and then the same problem happened. When I just reintalled illustrator I received an ERROR 7 (listed below).  Aslo when I found someone with a similar issue I checked the common filers (but I have no idea what it means.... I'm running a Windows 7 computer.  And really need this to work. Please help! -Thanks
