HELP!  My audio is bleeding!!!

Hi all. I've been working on a new version of Final Cut Pro Studio 2 with a new computer (Intel 2.4Ghz 17-inch Macbook Pro) and I have this recurring audio problem in which the audio from one track will bleed into the other tracks. At most I'm working with 14 audio tracks, and I guess that over a certain number of audio tracks you have to re-render every time you make a little move or add a clip. So I've been rendering like crazy, and then I'll to solo a track to try to make a small adjustment but the "solo'd" track has sound from a bunch of other unrelated tracks. Sometimes the sounds are there throughout, sometimes they pop in and out at random.
In addition, there are even places where the sound from another track pops in and the clip isn't on ANY of the tracks at the moment. So, for example, I have a siren that ends at, say, 10:30, and then at 10:35 the siren blasts. I've look through the rendered tracks above and below and this phantom siren is embedded in the crowd noise clip, the dialogue clip, the glass shattering clip, without there even existing the siren clip at that timecode. It goes without saying that I can't adjust the volume on a clip that doesn't exist, and I have an important screening coming up in which I'll look like a total dope if I don't get this figured out. Any suggestions???

Might also change the user preference for the number of audio tracks to play back at one time... the default is only 8 tracks, and you're computer is likely able to mix a lot more than that as long as your scratch disk is fast enough. If you use a lot of filters that adds to the track numbers too... some effects more than others, but you've only 14 tracks going so might speed things up a lot and save some render time if you up that RT playback setting in the User Preferences.

  • Help with Audio for Premiere Project

Working on a lengthy project and need some help with audio which is not my specialty!
I am recording using a Sony EX1r and a wireless lav mic,     OK.  Here is what is happening.
When I import the clip into project I get Audio from the left speaker.   If I burn a DVD and playback on home player with surround sound, I get audio out of just the left speaker which makes sense.    SO I go to Premier and use "Fill Left" which fixes the audio on my computer and get sound from left and right speakers.    The odd thing is that when I play this version back from DVD on the surround sound system, the audio now only comes from the CENTER speaker.  I dont get anything out of left OR the right speaker so it sounds hollow.
I am sure I am missing something obvious so please be kind.
Is there an easy way to get my audio to come out of Left, Center, and Right speakers (and rear for that matter) ???
    Thank you
    Ted

    Bill,
The DVD player is a Sony BluRay and the receiver is an Onkyo AV receiver HT-R380.
My thinking is that it is something that I am doing wrong inside Premiere vs something that the DVD player or receiver is doing.    My final product will need to play on a variety of DVD players so I need to get it right.
It just seems odd that my default output DVD provides sound to the left speaker but then removes it when I fill Left.
Am I setting up my audio tracks wrong?  Or should I being doing something with a 5.1 track???
    Thanks
    Ted

  • HELP! Audio Drops Out When Trying to Capture Canon XL2 Footage

Please help me out here. I'm a freelance camera operator w/ a Canon XL2 and several times now I've gotten calls from the editors saying they're having problems logging my footage, mainly the audio drops out quite a bit, and I'm not talking bout one second for every 2 or 3 minutes. No. It's like every 10 seconds the audio drops in and out.
What's the deal? Two times the guy was using a Panasonic DVX-100A to capture, another time it was a SONY DSR mini-DV deck. With each incident I had to go over with my XL2 and use it as the capture device, which is a pain.
The program they're using is FCP HD or 5. But I think even when they just play the tape in their Sony or Pany cameras, the audio may still suck.
Help me out here, I can't be the only one with this problem.
    Thanks.

Well Robert Swanson, I hope my post wasn't taken offensively, it certainly wasn't meant as such. The only Canon camcorder I owned was the GL1. After switching to Sony's I can honestly say it would take something significant to go back. And, I was merely relating my experiences in trying to capture from other Canon camcorders so that I know where you are coming from. However, I am interested in the HVX being the "noisest" camera on the market. I am seriously considering this camera and would be interested in a review that points this out. I would be using the hard drive recorder instead of P2 cards.

  • Help No Audio In FME 2.5

I'm trying to stream to justin tv using a dazzle capture device, and i'm unable to get audio using Flash media encoder 2.5. I downloaded something called virtual cable, ran audio repeater ks but still dont get any sound. I tried to use FME 3.1 and 3.2 but when I open either of the two, they dissapear. I also get a error message in both 3.1 and 3.2- Assertion failed program file.\inpin.cpp line535 Expression Succeeded. So because of that I'm switched to FME 2.5., but I can't select a audio device, theres nothing there to select. Any help would be great thanks.

Better if you install latest FMLE version 3.2 from
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/flashmediaencoder/
and then try Dazzle 100 DVC. if you are getting error on launch. Delete  "startup.xml" using these steps.
    1. In Window Explorer, type %appdata%
    2. Go to Adobe/Flash Media Live Enocder <version> and delete Startup.xmp
    3. Launch FMLE again.

  • Help with audio books on CDs please

Please be gentle, I'm totally new to the ipod phenomenon and itunes etc.
Just got a new ipod touch and want to put my previously purchased Harry Potter audio cd's on to it to listen to. Trouble is when I do that it classes them as music rather than putting them in the audio book section of the ipod. Now it's not a huge problem but it really is quite irritating. I object to paying the extortionate rate on itunes for something I've already got so don't want to download them again.
Is there a way of changing the way itunes recognises my cds to class it as an audio book and if so is there a way of combining the 7+ cd's for each book together so that it becomes just 1 book rather than having them as seperate cd's called the same thing? (hope I'm making sense here!)
If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

Take another look. The Aldoblog isn't really complicated. The summary of items to note
    - You can reduce your file size by going to preferences/advanced/import and changing to 32kps (more details in the blog). Not necessary, but will save you lots of space.
    - You want to joint the cd tracks to limit the number of files. Highlight all the tracks, and select join tracks from the advanced menu. You do this each time you import a disk, and end up with one track for each CD.
    - Once you've got all your disks read in, then select the tracks to get info (you can right click). Under options, select "remember playback position". That way when you only have to remember which disk you last played.
I create a playlist for each audio book.

I recently completed a Windows update and now my audio device is not functioning at all.  I am being told that NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE IS INSTALLED. I have tried to use the Update Driver function and keep receiving the message " WINDOWS FOUND DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR YOUR DEVICE BUT ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR WHILE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL IT."

    Hi,
It seems that the Audio Driver is corrupt:
Please click Start->In the Search Field above, type DEVMGMT.MSC and Press Enter, it opens Device maanger Window,  click + next to Sound, Video and Game COntrollers, right click on IDT or High Definition Audio Device entry, and click uninstall.
Click Start->All Programs->REcovery Manager->Select NO on Software Program Installation, click Next, select YEs on Hardware Driver installation, click yes, it shows all Drivers, choose Audio Driver, and click Install.Restart the PC, and check if the issue has fixed. If not, go to Control panel->Sound, on PlayBack Tab, right click on empty Space, select Show Disabled Devices, Show Hidden Devices, select Speakers, and click Set Default, play a file in Media Player, check to see if it works.
    Thank You.

  • Help with Audio Settings

I'm a neophyte when it comes to audio recording. My projects
are software demos with a few PowerPoint slides for introduction
and wrap-up. After I record the PowerPoint show and the on-screen
demo action, I use a headset/microphone to record narration for
each C3 slide in the project.
Is there a good description/discussion somewhere of the
various settings in the Captivate "Audio settings" dialog box?
In particular, what do "Encoding Bitrate", "Encoding
Frequency", and "Encoding Speed" mean? And what effect does
changing each of them have on the sound quality and file size (both
when I'm recording the audio and when I publish the movie)? What
settings would be best for "voice-over" narration? (I do not use
    background music.)
The C3 online help for this dialog box isn't much help at
all. For example, here's all that it says about "Encoding
    Frequency" and "Encoding Speed":
    = = = = = = = = = =
    Encoding Frequency
Select the frequency at which audio encoding must be
    performed.
    Encoding Speed
Drag the slider bar to set the required audio encoding speed.
Increasing the encoding speed reduces the quality of the encoded
    files.
    = = = = = = = = = =
That's a bit like saying "In your car, the brake pedal is
used to apply the brakes" without saying that you apply the brakes
    to stop the car.
I'd appreciate any and all insight you can share on this
subject, and/or references to things I should read to learn about
    these.
    Thanks,

i hate to rain on everyone's parade here but this problem lies elsewhere and not with the photo-jpeg video.
i was given several drives chock full of offline rt video and it plays fine out to my monitor. video was captured at offline rt preset resolution (320x240 photojpeg, square par), sequences are offline rt, control is apple dvcpro firewire to a jvc br-dv600ua vtr.
granted, the video looks less than desireable but it's useful none-the-less. i forgot to mention that this in a fcp 4.5 project on my panther boot drive.
perhaps the original poster will give some more info to help nail down the problem. or maybe my quicksilver system doesn't know it isn't supposed to display offline rt video.

  • Newbe requests help with audio for slide-show on Premiere Elements 4.

I recently wrote you regarding a problem I was having with a slide show I was making on Premiere Elements 4 importing photo clips and music from PhotoShop Elements 9.  Thank you for your help.
This very large slide show, some 200 clips that I have not resized is completed.  I am now having many problems with the music audio I am adding to various sequences of the slide show.  Specifically:the audio will not stay fixed on the places where I put it and end it.  Working on the Timeline Usually the length of the audio is shorter than the ending of the photo clips where it must go.  I click on the audio and stretch it and end it at the place I designate.  However, the other end has moved also so now I am left with a gap where there is no audio at the beginning of the segment.  Now in addition, the "Delete and Close Gap" does not work most of the time causing me to manually move the photo tiles which sometimes move when this happens.  I have to move each one or two individually to the left to close the gap and many times this causes loss of one or two photo tiles or they are out of order or have increase in number (of the one I am moving).
The program has also shut down for the past 10 days causing me to lose a good deal of work and sometimes photo clips and sometimes I get many duplicates of the photo clips.  All I do is edit mostly the same two segments doing this over and over because I can't proceed to importing any more music because I can't get the first segments correct.  I have chatted with you people, Sony techs, Microsoft Techs and Canon Techs.  The Sony techs suggested the program was at fault and I used the original installation disk and repaired the program.  It has still shut down on me but not as much.
I got error messages on the photo-cap instructions page you suggessted otherwise I would show pictures of the above problems.
I tried to copy and/or cut and paste from the Timeline thinking I would start a new slide show in PhotoShop Elements 9 using the same photos in reverse.  The program would not let me copy or paste.  There is great difficulty in highlighting the photo tiles in Timeline because I have to shift click on each individual tile and there are too many tiles and it would take too long to get a whole segment copied.  Maybe you know another way to do this?
I am at a stand-still now and I am quite despondent because I have been working on this slide-show for 3 months and it was a surprise for my daughter's 25th anniversary that was last Tuesday.
I do hope you have some good suggestions that will lelt me complete this Project and get it on a disk.  I am not that technical so please be specific.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kathy

Here's the basic advice I'd give, based on my experience. Much depends, though, on your goals and the specifics of your computer system:
    1) Resize all of your photos to no larger than 1000x750 pixels in size. This is VITAL if you want the program to maintain stability as you work. Also render often (by pressing the Enter key). When the render, the red lines above the clips on your timeline will turn green and the program will run much more efficiently.
    2) Work on your large slideshow project in shorter segments. You've got over 15 minutes worth of slides. Try working on this slideshow in 5 minute segments, output each segment and then combined the finished videos.
    3) Use only WAV audio as your music and audio for your slideshow.
    4) When you add video, audio or stills to a parallel track on your timeline, hold down the Ctrl key to override the ripple function and your current clips will remain in place.
    5) Maintain your computer by using a tool like the excellent, free, one-click Advanced System Care available at http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html
As for Delete and Close Gap, how it performs depends on whether you've selected Clear or Delete, whether you've pressed the Backspace key or the Delete key and if there is video or audio on a parallel track. (This is all covered in my books, by the way, if you're interested.)
Without knowing the specifics of your project and your situation, it's hard to give out more specific information -- but this advice should get you a long way toward completing your project!

  • HELP: Unintentional audio keyframing

    Hi,
I'm not sure how else to describe the problem aside from unintentional audio keyframing, but not that is visible in any individual audio tracks.
    Here's what's happening.
I have a single video clip of someone entering a car.  when he's in the car and the door shuts, I have key framed 3 of the audio tracks to drop from +10 to -10 decibels to simulate the effect of the closed door.
the three audio tracks are car alarms going on outside.
everything was fine until some point last night I think I hit a combination of keys that have somehow linked these audio tracks and changed their levels, because shortly after the actor closes the car door and starts speaking, the car alarm volumes get louder.
no keyframes or level changes are visible in the individual tracks, and when I play them individually there is not a problem.
furthermore, I rebuilt the entire three audio track sequence from scratch and re-keyframed everything, and when I play it back the proble occurs.  if i turn off the vocal tracks and just play the alarms there is no problem, so it kind of comes and goes.
last thing, around the time that this happened there was a horizontal red line across the hash marks of the timeline - i have never seen this before.
did i somehow link a whole cluster of clips to an unintentional audio shift?  i've got a pretty good handle on this software but I am baffled.  (i even exported a movie of the subject sequence and the problem exists in the mov file too.)
    Help please.
    Turner

I've tried that - thanks.  Re-rendering made no difference.  I can see keyframes in other clips - with this situation there is absolutely no obvious reason why the volume level changes so dramatically.
I ended up rebuilding the whole audio sequence again from scratch on different tracks and it's OK now.  I did a work-around.

  • Need help: front audio w/ P55-GD55 and thermaltake armor

    Hey guys,
I am trying to connect the front panel audio on my thermaltake armor(VA8000BWS) case to my msi p55-gd55 motherboard. My case has 1 wire coming from the front panel with 2 connections on the end that connects to the mobo.  The ear mic chart for my case lists as follows:
    1-EAR R
    2-Return R
    3-EAR L
    4-Return L
    5-MIC IN
    6-MIC VCC or MICBIAS

    3-MIC R
    4-PRESENCE#
    5-HEAD PHONE R
    6-MIC DETECTION
    7-SENSE_SEND
    8-NO PIN
    9-HEAD PHONE L
    10-HEAD PHONE DETECTION
Do I simply plug in my cable as is or do I have to move around some of the wires? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That is a pretty old case and front panel audio in it is for AL'97 not the HD audio that the MB has. You need to get a front panel audio module for HD audio from somewhere.
So i can't connect the front panel audio on the MB? It was nice if i could, but no problems then.
    Thx for the help

  • Need help adding audio to a slideshow in iDVD. I don't see my playlists.

I'm a relatively new Mac user & am trying to create my first DVD ever. I'm just learning as I go. I'm trying to create a slideshow with about 400 pictures to show at a "Going Away" Party. I've created a playlist to go along with it, but when I click on Audio & then on iTunes, it pulls up all of my songs in my whole library, but doesn't show my playlists anywhere. When I click on "help" it tells me that I should be able to go to Audio, click on iTunes, click on "library", & then find my playlist. However, I don't see "library" under iTunes. Help!

+but is it possible to make many different slideshows on the DVD but somehow have it play automatically from one to the other+
No. You can do that in DVD Studio Pro.
Here's a couple of examples of how I did these projects a couple of years ago:
    *Mediterranean 2003 cruise*
I had over 1000 images from a Mediterranean cruise. I broke them down in to 24 Albums in iPhoto (fewer than 99 images each). In iDVD, I created 6 Folders which created sub-menus. Main Menu buttons (folders/slideshows) such as Barcelona, French Riviera, Florence, Rome, Naples, Malta. Then I added each of the corresponding 24 iPhoto Albums to those 6 slideshows, thereby creating 24 total slideshows on sub-menus. Takes some planning. All slideshows had transitions and music.
    *Ireland 2004 iDVD Project*
Nearly 800 images dragged into iDVD as organized folders from the hard drive. Transitions on each image, and menus, sub-menus, and sub-sub menus. The sub-menus are created by clicking on the Folder icon on the iDVD interface.
Main Menu has 6 buttons: Downpatrick, Antrim Coast, Letterkenny, Sligo, Trim, and Extras. Behind each button are additional buttons ranging from 3 to 6 buttons. The Extras button goes fairly deep. When you click on Extras, it gives you 3 choices on a new menu. The "B&Bs" button opens a new menu with 5 buttons. The "Movies" button opens a new menu with 4 buttons. If you click on the "Irish Music" button, you open a new menu with 2 buttons. At that point, you are at a "sub-sub-sub menu."
Music was on most of the slideshows. Some movies converted to QT DV from Canon S400 digicam .AVI files (iDVD 4). Now convert to H.264 with QuickTime 7. Images are original 4MP (2MB) JPEG images from the same digicam. This DVD project is around 4GB with all pictures as DVD-ROM content.

  • HELP! Audio Podcast Marker Image Being Compressed to Mangled Blob

I am trying to create an audio podcast in STP2.
I add an image for the Marker by selecting "Image Source Other" and select a 2444x1583 jpeg image. The image shows up in the preview box and it looks good. I activate Show External Video (^V) and the image looks perfect.
However as soon as I select any tab, track, whatever... and the image preview box disappears, and I then come back to the marker image preview, the image has now been processed and compressed to a completely unrecognizable blob! If I go ahead and export the podcast, the marker image is displayed in iTunes looking exactly like the mangled image in STP and has been reduce to 53Wx35H pixels!!!
This mangling also occurs with the Episode image, although it actually does not even get exported to the final podcast.
To create the podcast I make sure the file type is AAC/Podcast File > Podcast > Enhanced (Images).
Can someone PLEASE help me figure why the images are being mangled and how I can get a full quality marker image displayed?
BTW - I have tried various file formats including PDF and PNG and the results are the same - ALWAYS a 53Wx35H pixel image.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
ASIDE - I created the same podcast in Garageband 09 and the images are Crystal clear. However, the marker image ALWAYS gets distorted form wide screen format to square, so that it become useless for distribution.
TIA for anyone that reads this and responds.

OK - Got It Figured Out!!! Woo Hoo!!
I am able to do exactly what I want in Compressor... go figure!!
    1. Select "AAC for Audio Podcast" preset.
    2. In the Encoder Audio tab, select "Enhanced Padcast (m4a file)"
    3. Change "Fit marker images within" to "1280" by "1024"
    4. Add Chapter marker and edit
    5. Change Type to "Podcast"
    6. Select Image "From file" and select the HR file - could drag from Finder as well.
    7. Save
    8. Submit (took about 30 seconds to run)
Viola!! A nice, tight, small, HR slide show; 5 minutes long and ONLY 4.5 MB - about .1 MB larger than the audio alone! The entire process (once the new preset is saved) takes less than a minute - as long as you know the time code for the marker image placement.
Took a weekend to figure out, but well worth it!
Off to make the Client VERY happy!!

  • Need help ASAP- Audio Problem

I am using a Vixia HV40 Canon camera with an external mic (Aazden 105 series UHF) with Final Cut Express 4.0.1 to create a video. When I listen to the audio output through the mic or the camera, everything sounds fine, but after I capture the data onto my computer, the sound comes with a very fuzzy background noise. I don't think that there is any problem with the camera or external mic (I have had a sound technician check them to see if there was something wrong with the sound), but I don't know what to do to fix the problem.
Recently I have been getting an error message when I open FCE saying, "Unable to locate the following external devices: Built-in audio," could this have something to do with my problem? Also, why is it saying this?
I can't seem to find anything online that relates to this problem, please help!

Wondering why you're using the "Voice-over" tool instead of the "Capture" tool. Are you recording live audio or capturing (video and) audio from something you pre-recorded?
Normal practice for me, in capturing stuff I've recorded on my camera, is to connect the camera to the computer (firewire cable), launch FCE, and choose "File/Capture."

  • Adobe Captivate Help | Insert audio

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/insert-audio.html

    From the manual:
"You can attach an audio file to a button or click box and have the audio play when the user clicks the button or click box instead of when the button or click box is displayed. To do this, create the button or click box and select the Success Caption option. Make the Success Caption transparent and do not add any text. Add an audio file to the Success Caption."
Is this the method for adding audio to a smart shape, click box, or any other element? If so, I got as far as the last sentence: "Add an audio file to the Success Caption." That's what I want to know how to do -- add audio so that when a little smart shape is clicked, it plays a sound. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time finding the instructions for something so basic.
    Any help appreciated!!
